“~*~” Prologue : Free… “~*~”
Free…
She was finally free…
At last, she was free from the clutches that held her to a wicked demon called Naraku. Oh, she was crying… The happiness that surrounded her was just so overwhelming. She cried, and cried, and cried…
But why did the pleasant freedom also have to signify the demise of her very existence? The bittersweet emotion was all she could feel now.
The tears refused to stop. Her body had already been destroyed. Aimlessly carried away by the wind, she traveled deep in her misery. She could careless where she would end up; her time was nearly up anyways…
“Oh…” she sighed. She had waited for this moment. She wanted this fate. But… but…
Why couldn't she stop grieving? Why did she carry so much regret? Why… why was she so sad when she wished for this all her life? Why?!
She stared up in the sky just to find a full moon shining upon her sympathetically. It was already night… What beautiful stars, she thought… She hoped dearly that she would reborn as one of those lovely lights; loved by all… and graceful, even when knocking at the death's door.
“Kagome!”
A familiar voice belonged to a male sparked her interest. She looked down to the earth with the sky on her back. She couldn't help but to smile down on the half demon who rushed to his beloved priestess' side.
“Inuyasha, where have you been?” Kagome smiled as she greeted him with a warm smile.
Inuyasha, now breathless, stopped in front of her with a big, satisfying smirk on his blood-covered face.
“What happened?!” She gasped, and quickly took out her handkerchief to clean his face.
“Happy birthday,” he finally said - after catching his breath, of course - and pushed a pink flower to the young woman.
The flower was of a rare nocturnal demon's most prized possession. It usually grew on top of the demon's head cared under the moonlight. Because it blossomed magnificently and due to the flower's large size - as big as a fully grown man's open hand - it was sought out by everyone, including humans and demons alike. Finding one of these required a great amount of time, patience of a saint, and extreme luck.
“Inuyasha,” Kagome whispered his name in a gasp. “It's beautiful…”
“I was planning on giving you Narkau's head, but… you know…” Inuyasha explained as he looked up at the stars and scratched the bridge of his nose - with his cheeks bright red!
“Thank you so much!” She thanked him, her eyes sparkling with tears.
Inuyasha completely turned his back on her as her tears made him uncomfortable. “K-keh! Y-You don't have to start crying over a stupid flower,” he commented awkwardly.
“I'm sorry, I don't have anything for you,” she apologized.
“It's not my birthday.”
“But, still… I could've already missed it, or even if it's coming up, I have no way of knowing when exactly it is!”
“Don't worry, I don't know, either.”
“Inuyasha…”
“Quit yapping, or I'm gonna take the stupid present back!”
“Inuyasha!”
“What?!” He snapped as he turned to her direction.
Kagome trapped the half demon's face between her hands and tip-toed to meet his lips with hers. He froze but momentarily before he returned her kiss.
“Really, thank you,” she said sincerely when the kiss was over. Inuyasha's expression softened and held her close.
“This is the most beautiful thing I've ever received,” Kagome whispered happily as she stared down at the glowing flower.
`I can say the same,' Inuyasha thought, watching Kagome's smiling face.
“~*~”
She gagged, what a cheesy pair. They were getting along so well that it was making her to have goose bumps - even though she had no physical body.
She smiled down on the couple incredulously, shaking her non-existing head. `I guess I owe them one final visit,' her words were merely a change in the gentle, night breeze. She concentrated the last bits of her strength and descended down toward them.
Skylily…
