AN: Hey, if you haven't read `THE BEGINNING OF THE SHADOW' go back one chapter coz I deleted the author's notes and I don't think they counted adding a new chapter after deleting the old one as an `update' -.-!! Also, I'm soo sorry it took me this long to update this chapter!! I had speeches to do . (compulsory English thing, wish it wasn't, hate it!)

Chapter 12 - Plan Successful

A piece of land is surround by a circle of white, leave less trees, the sky was a deep crimson red and clouds were black. In the middle was a door made of the same timber from the white trees, carvings of an unknown language was written on it; the top of the arch was a large red gem cut like a drop of blood; and through the doors, was a stair case down to and unknown destination.

“My lord, everything is set according to plan.”

“Good, and now, we wait...”

“Yes my lord,”

“You may return now, my puppet. But remember to tell me when plan a has come to a pass.”

The figure bowed and a left though a shadow.

“Hm...she and the power will be mine...hmhmhm...this should be fun...”

“Ne, Kagome-san! How do you do this part again?” Satu asked Kagome. She was suck on writing this kanji, something always seemed to be missing. “How you write winter again?”

“Here, like this... one stroke diagonally to the left, then add a line straight across near the top of the first stroke and then slide it down diagonally again.” Kagome began as she showed her.

“Ooo, sugoi...”

“Kagome-san! Is this right?” Kyoko shouted to her.

“Oui! Kyoko-chan! Don't shout!” Satu covered her ears.

“Opps, gomen!”

“Kagome-sama, Satu-sama, Kyoko-sama, it's time for lunch!” Luna announced.

“Yay! Lunch!!” And the two children jumped up and down towards the dining room.

”Don't jump!” Kagome shouted after them and smiled at children.

The moonlight shone in to Sesshoumaru's study where Kagome and Sesshoumaru sat as they worked through the papers of the land's affairs. After finishing the last paper, Kagome gently laid her brush down and covered her mouth with the other as she yawned.

“I'm going to sleep now, okay?” Kagome said softly, it been such a busy day, looking after the children in the morning and teaching them how to write, then all this paper work after lunch! Sesshoumaru merely just nodded and Kagome walked out of the room.

Breathing out deeply, she sighed. Thinking back in time, Kagome reviewed what has happened since she came back from Tokyo. Yumiko doesn't seem to warm up to her and since the still-birth, she barely sees anyone but Sesshoumaru. And now, he's acting differently, he's...he's all obsessed with this heir business and has been keeping her up for a hell of a long time. Very, very light shadows under her eyes can even be seen! Truly, it's not like she doesn't want children, but if she can't get pregnant, they can blame her for not trying...can they? And the trouble is, Kagome just isn't sure how Sesshoumaru feels about her now, it's just seems like he's just...just interest in what they have to do to have children. But then there's the side of life where there could be a difference between human and youkai. Could be a way they express their love to someone?

Kagome was just confused. Don't know what to do.

Upon arriving in her room, Kagome went into the closet to change into her sleep-wear. With her mind full of thoughts, why does her life seem to strange to her, the worst yet, it seems like something heavy, a burden was upon her shoulders yet unknown, as if it just an illusion of all the things that has happened to her life so far...

She was just about to fall asleep when someone woke her.

“Huh?” Kagome said sleepily. It was Sesshoumaru. “Oh, how's the work coming along? Everything alright?”

“Yes,” He leaned forward as he caught her lips.

“No Sesshoumaru, please, I'm tired.” Kagome tried to push herself away from him but he was on top of her before she could move. “Sesshoumaru, please?”

“Just a while, Kagome,” Sesshoumaru said huskily.

“Can't we just...leave this till...tomorrow?” Kagome said in between their kisses.

Sesshoumaru gave no answer, but instead, he licked her upper lips then nibbled on her lower, causing her to moan as she rapped her arms around his neck.

“You're scent, it's soo...” his tongue dived into her mouth tasting every corner inside. “You're in heat again...”

He created a warm trail down from Kagome's lips down to her neck.

“Mm..” Kagome moaned and tilted her head. `Then how come my scent didn't effect him earlier on?' She thought to herself.

Sesshoumaru brought one of his hand to her front to undress her while the other held her head.

“Kagome...”

Oh no..this next part is going to be hard to write while trying not to add wrong stuff and giving wrong messages in it -.-`' But remember!! I'm not trying to write LEMON!! . !!

Kagome and Sesshoumaru came to their climax for the somewhat time as he thrust into her the last time. (AN: Kagome's too tired to count...-.-`') Kagome held Sesshoumaru's body close to hers as she breathed heavily. She was so tired from the day's work and now this, but as long as Sesshoumaru was happy and wanted it, then she didn't mind.

Sesshoumaru lifted himself up to look down at her. The blue eyes sparkled at him under the dim light in the room, it was the most beautiful face he has ever seen, even Yumiko can not beat this.

Kagome looked up at her husband only to see him looking down at her, her eyes were a bit droopy, yet Sesshoumaru does not seem to noticed. He bent down again as he caught her lips in his once more, leaning to the side a bit as he and Kagome switched positions. Kagome laid still as she still had to catch her breath. She knows what Sesshoumaru wants, he wants her to show him she loves him, to make love to him.

`Just let me catch my breath first, just a little rest...' Kagome thought as she rested her head under his chin on his left shoulder.

Sesshoumaru heard Kagome's breathing calmed but her body was as still as stone, and when he looked down at her, he found her asleep.

`What the?' He turned his head side ways a bit to see her in a peaceful sleep and suddenly snuggled closers to him and laugh quietly an rapped his arms around her, holding Kagome's body close to him; but with the movement of his body against Kagome's, a friction of pleasure spread through his body. `How can she sleep on someone like this?' he thought to himself as he resist his own desire. `I wonder how morning will be,' He thought and smirked before he began to sleep.

It was just before dawn before Kagome began to stir. The blurry dark images becoming clear, slowly. She could hear Sesshoumaru's heat beat, slow and calm.

`Wow, he surly calms down fast,' Kagome thought, amused. She lifted her head a little to look up, but found that Sesshoumaru had lopped his arms around her shoulders. `Why is Sesshoumaru asleep?' She thought to herself. `I must have fallen asleep! Ahh! Now who am I suppose to get out of this?!' And at that moment, Sesshoumaru began to wake.

Sesshoumaru opened his eyes as they focused to the surrounding darkness. He looked down to see Kagome looking at him.

“So you're awake I see,” Sesshoumaru asked.

“In a difficult situation though.” Kagome said as she made a `weird' face and raised an eyebrow.

“And I think I'll leave you to solve it.” Sesshoumaru smirked.

“Sesshoumaru! Fine!” Kagome looked to once side.

“Now, now my dear, lovely wife, don't get all angry.” Sesshoumaru his grip on her as he lifted himself up a tiny bit then resulted a `eep' from Kagome as he moaned. “How about we finish what we didn't before?” Sesshoumaru asked lustfully.

“You, mister, are addicted.” Kagome clarified, pointing her finger on his chest.

“I guess you can say that, to you that is,” Sesshoumaru chuckled at Kagome's reaction to his words.

“Oh Kami-sama, what's happened to my husband?” Kagome asked sarcastically.

“Nothing much except he always craves for his beloved wife.” Sesshoumaru smirked as he turned them over so that he was on top.

“Ahh!” Kagome half screamed as she was turned over unexpectedly.

AN: Sesshy getting too lemon for me -.-`' . Don't you think so? But luckily, that the end of any Sess/Kag intimate scenes !!! blows out air with lower lip turned upwards But just to let a slip, there will be one more scene where some that will be mentioned not written okay?!

Kagome brushed the fabric where the garment crossed over to smoothen out the creases. Reaching behind Sesshoumaru's back, she rapped the dark crimson obi around Sesshoumaru's waist.

“When will you be back?” Kagome asked softly as she reach Sesshoumaru's armour.

“Probably in two day's time.” Sesshoumaru replied. “Don't worry, it's just a quick patrol around the borders.”

“Just take care of yourself, that all.” Kagome said as she held the armour in place and began to tie the fabric around it.

“You say this every time I have to go out. I'm not a child anymore if you haven't realized,” Sesshoumaru said sarcastically. “I'm a taiyoukai of the Western Lands who has a family. And not to mention I am one of the most powerful youkai around, you don't have to worry.”

Kagome turned away from Sesshoumaru, lowered her head slightly as she spoke.

“You know how worry I get when it `patrolling around the borders', I'm always, always scared that you'll be taken away or something like before would repeat.”

Sesshoumaru could smell the sadness of Kagome's scent a immediately new he had sad the wrong thing and stepped forward to embrace her. “No Sesshoumaru, just tell me finish.” And Sesshoumaru back away. “Every time you leave, this feeling of fear of loosing you or you might get hurt just builds up inside me. I can't control it, it just happens every time.”

“I'm sorry Kagome, I didn't mean to make you so unhappy.” Sesshoumaru said softly and walked up behind her. Kagome turned around to face Sesshoumaru and leaped into his arms in a comforting hug.

So much hugging .

“You didn't make me unhappy, I'm just worried...worried about you,” Kagome spoke in near whisper as she rested her head on his chest.

Sesshoumaru could only feel guilty for the sudden negative feeling, if only he hadn't say anything like that before...

Yet her worry only reminds him of his failure to rescue her before it was too late...

“It's my fault, you should be suffering like this,” Sesshoumaru said as she held her tight. “Sumimasen.” And he rested his cheek on the top of her head.

Silence as the couple calmed down.

“Well, no used just huddling together, ne?” Kagome broken the moment of peace. “Let finish dressing you in your armour.”

“Just one more thing,”

“What is it?” Kagome asked, curious.

“While I'm away, will you do my work for me?” Sesshoumaru asked, as polite as he could.

“I shall do as my lord asks.” Kagome smiled happily as she bowed lightly.

`It shall be a smile I shall forever remember.' Sesshoumaru told himself.

“I sure hope he'll be alright,” Kagome said to herself a while after Sesshoumaru's departure.

“Ne, Kagome-san, don't worry, otou-san is a very strong youkai! He will beat everyone of them, that is if he does.” Satu told Kagome, very confidently.

Kagome could only smile, she was just tired from the lack of sleep.

“Satu-sama, Kyoko-sama! Your sensei is here, time for you lessons.” Luna announced as she came towards them.

“Ooohh...no fair, why do we need a sensei? We like Kagome-san.” Kyoko folded her arms as she tried to refuse to go.

“Please dear, I need to work while Sesshoumaru is gone.” Kagome told them. “Don't worry, the sensei will take my place until otou-san is back, so if you two behave well, I'll give you a treat, deal?” Kagome winked at them and the smiles came back on the children's faces.

“Deal!” the sisters agreed. “Don't forget, ne? You promised!”

“I won't, now follow the servant that came with Luna-chan, don't make the sensei wait.” Kagome pushed two little girls lightly.

“Jamata!”

As Satu and Kyoko's voices faded Luna spoke up.

“Did you need my help?” Luna asked, if she didn't then why would she made her stay behind?

“I'm not...feeling very well...” Kagome began and fainted. Luna yelled her name rushed to support before she could fall to the ground.

Blur images appeared in Kagome's eyes, a voice saying her name softly. The vision slowly came to focus after a few blinks.

“Lady Kagome, you're awake, thank kami - ”

“What happened?” Kagome said weakly, interrupting Luna's sentence.

“You fainted after the children left luckily they were here to see that happen or this whole castle would be running everywhere!” Luna explained.

“And you didn't tell anyone about this?” Kagome asked.

“No, because I thought you didn't want to..”

“Thank you,” Kagome cut in again.

“May I ask you something Kagome?”

Kagome nodded.

“Why don't you want me to tell anyone? It could be really serious you know!” Luna questioned.

“True, but there's just something inside me, something that's bothering me to not want others to know.” Kagome said quietly, she knew perfectly well how good the hearing of the youkais were. “Me being the only human around sometimes seem to be a bit of a problem around the house, and there are these youkai customs that I still have to learn about that might be something that we humans believe in a total opposite thinking. Then there Yumiko, it not that I don't like her or care about that she Sesshoumaru's second wife or even think her in the way of a competition, but the way she seems to act, talk towards me seems different and since that one week ago after Inutaishou and Yumoko left on their holiday away from all this politics and all, a lot of things seems to be different, and only the children and you talk to me like someone close now, and the moment Sesshoumaru left, this fortress seems to be so...so empty. I just - just “

“Haai..” Luna breathed out. “Kagome, such a long list of worries. Truly, you don't need to be. Yumiko sometimes it could have been just over shocked about the still birth and is reacting this way to that incident. She is really a cheerful person.”

As Luna continued to talk, Kagome`s mind was elsewhere. Thinking about that dream she had just previously, it...strange. Now, was it just her or what but she seems to have LOTS of dreams?

Yet this one, it's different to others, it's some what strange yet very calm and peaceful. What was she thinking, `strange yet very calm and peaceful'? That's just doesn't make any sense.

Back to the dream...

-- the dream --

The scenery was of green fields and many flower of different types and colours in blossom. The sky was in a peach red colour as the night sky began to creep out.

Kagome was looking at a city made of see-through stone like material (An: they don't have glass in that time remember so Kagome doesn't know what it is, oh! And they don't have crystal either...I think..). The architecture was strange but the it was beautiful and don't forget to mention the size of the city! It was at least three times the size of Himeji, yet...it was so quite.

It was then when a figure in a burgundy cloak began to walk up the hill. A hood covered the person's face but to strands of blonde, slightly curly hair was hanging out. Kagome wasn't sure of what to do, it looked like that the person was heading towards her. Kagome turned her head behind her to see it was a young, lively forest then back to the city only to find the figure one a few meters away from her. Kagome was about to step back when the person began to speak.

“You don't need to scared of me,” the voiced laughed, it was a feminine voice only telling Kagome one fact at the moment, that this person was a female. The stranger putted her hood back as her face was revealed.

She had the same crystal blue eyes a slightly long face and extremely long hair that went curly near ends.

“Where am I?” Kagome asked in a whisper.

“Where are you? You're here with me.” The lady replied.

“But, what's this place?”

“This is the place where I meet you,” she dragged on.

“That's not what I meant! I'm asking what is this place is called and it location?!” Kagome suddenly burst out.

“Well, if you really want to know it that much,” the person began.

“Wait, what is you name?” Kagome asked another question. “It's just that I think I would be rude to call you `hey woman' or `hey you' that's all.”

“Well then, I cannot let you know my name, at least, not yet, not until it is time.”

“Time? What time?”

“Just listen child. You, are someone, that you never imagined yourself to be, a destiny that is most unique to any soul that exists in this universe. You soul's destiny has a quest that seems to have many minor ones. Now note that I have said minor, compare the true quest, the other one along with it are minor.”

“Jotto matte...what? I don't get this...hey, this is weird..” Kagome said, confused. “And still want to know you name.”

“Don't worry little one. When the time comes, you shall discover the pieces of this puzzle as time goes on.” The figure began to fade, slowly turning transparent. “And my name, is Sara.” With that she faded entirely.

-- End Dream --

“KAGOME!”

“Ah!” Kagome shouted, Luna was shouting her name for the some what forth-fifth time! “Don't scare me like that!”

“Well, I've tried not to for some many times! Why are you day dreaming?!” Luna said hotly.

“Hehe..gomen,” Kagome giggled.

“Haa, come on then, you better start the papers or you'll never finish on time.” Luna pulled her up and lead her to Sesshoumaru's study.

By the time they reached the room, Kagome went inside to see a little pile of paper on the desk.

“Already so much work,” Kagome sighed. “Guess I better get started. Haai, no one to help me, Inutaishou and Yumoko are gone off in their little `private holiday' some where on this Nipppon island, Sesshoumaru's on patrol, now there's just me and Yumiko..”

“Ne, don't worry, too much, I can still help, even

The two days passed quickly and yet for the first time Sesshoumaru was ever away that she had no nightmare! Yumi...it truly is such a mysterious thing and the one that she had when she had fainted was carved deeply into her memory. Why? Kagome does not know.

She was just a second away from falling asleep before something came and woke her up.

“Ahh! Why did you do that for?!” Kagome shouted angrily not knowing who she was speaking to. A moment later as she looked at the person who had made her feel so in pain of not being able to sleep was Sesshoumaru. “Sesshoumaru!”

“Please, don't shout,”

“You're back! Did you get hurt? Did you have enough to eat? Did you -“

“I'm fine Kagome, now calm down.” Sesshoumaru took hold of her arms. Kagome rested her head on his chest.

“Agadda..” She whispered quietly. (AN: spell check came up with agenda hehe :P)

Sesshoumaru held her head where is was and rested his own on hers.

“Hey, you...want to sleep now?” Kagome asked awkwardly a while later. They were like that for at least five minutes!

“No...”

“You must be kidding, you've been away patrolling though, aren't you tired?” Kagome asked caringly.

“No, not really, I'm a youkai remember?” Sesshoumaru said in a seducing tone which Kagome heard.

“Sesshoumaru, not now..”

“Why not?”

“Sesshoumaru..” Kagome stopped as Sesshoumaru began to suck on her earlobe. “No, please, stop it. I'm tried.”

“But want to...”

“No Sesshoumaru, I really must sleep!”

“I thought you liked it.” Sesshoumaru said as he looked at Kagome. “Don't you want to show me you love?”

“I love to show you how much you posses my heart, but at the moment, the way that you want me to `express' my feelings towards you us just a bit impossible -”

“So there is still possibility,” Sesshoumaru joked.

“This is no laughing matter!” Kagome looked at him disbelievingly. “Truly Sesshoumaru, can't we have tonight my way? Can't you just give me a break?! I am a human you know! And I need rest. Do you consider me a youkai? Are you expecting me to have the abilities of one, am I just Yumiko's replacement?!” Kagome shouted at him.

Sesshoumaru stood there shocked.

“What am I to you, Sesshoumaru?” Kagome asked looking at his eyes. She could feel the fear growing inside her, fear of the answer Sesshoumaru might give.

“I..you are-“

“No, please, don't say anymore, I don't want to know,” Kagome held her covered her face with her hand. “I'm sorry, please, leave me alone for a few days to sort this problem out in my mind, I'm sorry.”

“I...Kagome, please, listen to me..”

“No, please, just leave, I'm tired, let me sleep.”

Sesshoumaru looked at Kagome's form under the blanket, why is she cuddling his pillow. Was is wrong to want her? Was it wrong to show his love to her? It was too much a confusing question.

No, please, just leave, I'm tired, let me sleep,” Kagome said shakily as she covered herself with the blanket, little bits of tears building up, on the edge of falling. Upon hearing Sesshoumaru leaving the room, a drop of tear ran down her cheek. `Why is this happening? Weren't we happy before he left? Is it really such a big problem with a husband craving for his wife?'

`But then, if he loves me, then why would he push me to such extremes? Couldn't he tell I was too tired? Or is it the only way he can show his love?'

Feeling unsure of their emotions towards each other Kagome slept on with the feeling confused and depressed..

AN: Well, that's a chapter. Err...if you don't get the above part, it's okay, coz I'm not too sure what to write here but just have something to have an argument between Kagome and Sesshoumaru, but I don't think it's that much of an argue me -.-`' Don't ask why...sort ran out of ideas for a while (actually a few weeks -.-`' cause be this music Showcase concert and the KBB Orchestra competition XD) But I'll try to; but it is quite important...hm..., actually, do ask me if you don't understand okay? Now talking about chapters, the next two aren't bound to be a happy one :P But to give you guys another little slip here is the next chapter's summary:
