From Demons to Dementors
~Flash forward to England a little less that a week later~
Hermione was just walking back to her room after lunch, when she heard a scratching on the window in Harry and Ron's room, they had left the door wide open so she could see that it was Hedwig at the window.
“Oh Hedwig it's you!” Hermione ran to the window and undid the dusty latch on the window so Hedwig could fly inside.
“Ohhhh I have been looking forward to his reply, I wonder what he wrote back!” Hermione bounced up and down in anticipation. Hedwig hooted and landed on Hermione's outstretched arm. Hermione ran down the hall and into her room, she untied the parchment from Hedwig's leg.
“Here you go Hedwig” Hermione was searching the desk drawer for her owl treats
“You earned it!” Hermione smiled, feeding Hedwig a handful of mouse flavored treats.
“Just don't tell Harry I gave you so many” she winked. Hedwig hooted softly and nipped her finger lightly then with out a second's hesitation she flew out of the room and down the hall to her perch in Harry's room.
She must be very tired, flying from here to Japan and back again in a couple of days…poor thing she thought. Hermione sat down at her desk, turned on a light and opened the letter.
“He was in a hurry” she noted when she saw how messy his penmanship was. After reading the letter she frowned.
“Who is this girl?” she wondered aloud
“He talks so highly of her, and what does he mean when he says this is the best he has felt in five years? What is the significance of 5 years? Wasn't he happy with us? With me?” she was sad, curious and angry, felling betrayed.
“How is she more powerful than Dumbledore? That's impossible, no one is more powerful than Dumbledore not even Harry and Voldermort combined! Is that even possible?...no it can't be! Who is she? And how come I have never heard of her? If she is as powerful and wonderful as Souta seems to think she is then shouldn't I have at least read something about her or learned about her in school?” Hermione was now the most confused she had ever been in her life, running through all the information in her head she came up with nothing about this stranger. For the first time in her life Hermione could not figure something out , it scared her and angered her to no end.
“if Dumbledore, the ministry and Harry cant beat Voldermort then I doubt some girl off the streets is going to be any help!” she concluded. Rereading the last couple lines she staggered
(AN- kagome is just about every one's favorite person so far isn't she >_<)
“He is coming TONIGHT! That can't be….and wait he is bringing the stranger HERE! TO HEADQUARTERS! YOU CAN'T BRING STRANGERS TO HEADQUARTERS WITH OUT ANY NOTICE!
SOUTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!” Hermione yelled frantically changing from a jealous, paranoid teen to a frantic, hyperventilating, screeching banshee in about five seconds.
“Ahhhhh I better tell every one and fast!” she yelled running out the room, down the stairs and past the screeching portrait on Mrs. Black
“SLOW DOWN! Filthy mudblood! Running and screaming all about my beautiful house…oh woe is me how could such horrible things happen to such a proud family! In my day mudbloods would not dare take a single step inside the house of black! Hrmppp my horrible son has let the black name be sullied” Mrs. Black grumbled. Hermione stumbled into the kitchen where Harry, Ron, Sirius and professor Lupin were lightly chatting. She guessed every one else was some where in the living room.
“What's up Hermione?” Harry asked
“Yeah what's so important that you had to interrupt our conversation about quidich!” Ron yelled angrily
“We got some problems that just happen to be more important that your silly quiditch”
Before Ron could argue that there is nothing in the world that could possible be more important that quiditch, Hermione handed the letter to professor Lupin so he could read it aloud.
“hmmmm well this is interesting” professor Lupin looked to Sirius for his opinion.
“where to start…. First, I doubt she is as powerful as he thinks. I for one have never heard of any one or thing more powerful that Dumbledore, second, I have never heard of her before so what makes her so special, third, I wonder why he has never told us about her before ..unless he has just meet her…but then why would he trust her enough to bring here and tell her our secrets hmmm what if she is a muggle? Then what?, fourth, it doesn't sound as if he is being controlled but we can never be too sure and lastly I don't like that a complete stranger is coming to our home and the order's headquarters” Sirius twirled the letter in his hand for a second before calling moody in.
“we need to take time to think of a plan but that takes time, time we don't have” Sirius growled and slammed his fist on the table
“what the hell does he think he's doing!” he yelled. A couple minutes later Mad eyed Moody limped into the kitchen followed by Tonks.
“what the bloody hell were you yelling about Sirius?” Moody grumbled and slumped into a seat. Sirius thrust the letter under Moody nose.
“here, read!” Sirius barked. Moody grumbled about no respect for elders now-a-days as he read the letter.
“great Merlin's beard! What does the boy think he is doing? Now is not the time to go searching around for strange girls with lots of unknown power, does he not realize the danger he has just put us all in? arggg he is going to get him self and all associated to him killed” moody barked as his magic eye swiveled around angrily. Tonks, who had read the letter over Moody's shoulder decided to put in her two cents.
“well the only thing we can do now is wait and see, I personally can't wait to meet her” she smiled
“why? And how can you be so bubbly and calm about this?” Ron asked flabbergasted
“well it's not every day we meet a girl as powerful as Souta said she is and the world needs more strong women, it's not fair that all the strong and powerful wizards are male, it's sexist if you ask me, if Souta trusts her then I will too, Merlin knows that boy has a trust issue” Tonks smiled remembering the first time she met Souta, he tried to purify her saying she was a demon when she changed her face and hair color, it had taken months to get him to say more than three words to her.
“besides if anything funny happens, we have a house full of wizards, four aurous, plus the house defenses and if that doesn't work, we can just erase her memory” she smiled
“you are way to happy about this” Sirius growled
“hey! I'm a woman in desperate need of girl time…hmmm and a great big bar of chocolate…yeah ….chocolate….with nuts” she added as an after thought
“I'll go tell molly we'll be expecting two more guests for supper” she excused herself
“I'll come with you” Ginny said from the doorway
“I came in about halfway, I heard every thing, you were just too distracted to notice” she explained at their shocked expressions. Tonks nodded and brushed out the room, Ginny not far behind, with out a word.
“girl's are so bloody weird, I don't think I will ever understand them” Ron sighed and slumped in his chair. Moody, Sirius and Lupin all grunted and nodded in agreement. Hermione glared and plopped down next to Harry.
“she's right though, the only thing we can do now is wait” Harry said quietly
“waiting is always the longest and the hardest step” Lupin closed his eyes and leaned back in his chair, to the naked eye he looked asleep but every one knew he was very much awake and very deep in thought.
~back in Japan a few hours earlier~
Souta and Kagome had their bags packed and were waving goodbye to their mother and grandfather. Their grandfather had come strait home after Souta had called and informed him that Kagome had come home. They had spent the entire day discussing old spells, herbs and demons in the shed on the shrine grounds. Their grandfather, unlike, their mother was overjoyed to see Kagome alive and healthy and was proud of what she had accomplished. He had confessed to her that he also thought she had died and was sorry for thinking so. But he never once doubted that she would complete her quest and reminded her of it constantly. Kagome could not even begin to express her gratitude that her grandfather accepted her, she was on edge after her mother practically disowned her ….more on edge then she already was. It was a weight off her chest to know that no matter what happens in her life her grandfather would support her. Kagome's mother had improved also…to the naked eye. she was like a schizophrenic person, one day she would be all over kagome, crying and hugging and the next day she would be cold and hate her. No one understood it, kagome had a hunch though, and she didn't like it.
~flash back~
Kagome hated her hunches, they always seemed to come true in the worst possible way. After giving the situation much thought, kagome decided to act on her hunch, the night before souta and her left for England. She walked up to her mothers room and knocked on the door.
“yes?” her mother asked
“okaa-san, its me kagome, could I have a word with you in private?” kagome asked hoping that her mother was in one of her good moods.
“of course kagome, come in!” kagome opened the door and walked in. her mother was sitting at her vanity, brushing her hair.
“what's up kagome?” her mother asked. Kagome walked behind her mother so that she could see her face in the large mirror. Bending down, kagome brushed her lips against her mothers ears.
“you have exactly 24 hours to disappear before I purify you from your insides out” kagome whispered in her most deadly voice, staring directly at her mothers eyes from her reflection in the mirror.
“the clock is ticking” kagome rested her hand on the back of her mothers neck and squeezed to emphasize her point.
“you always did know were I was hiding……I never could get anything past you” her mother's eyes bled red and her voice deepened
“leave this body” kagome glared at the reflection
“now is that any way to treat your s…………” her mother couldn't finish because kagome and tightened her grip on her neck, cutting off all oxygen. Her mother smirked and passed out. Kagome growled as black smoke leaked out of her mothers mouth. It swirled in mid air before brushing up against kagome and dispersing into the air and out the window.
“prick” kagome seethed. She picked up her mothers unconscious body and placed her on her bed. Kagome forced open her mothers eyes and noticed that they were back to normal brown. She did a full medical and spiritual check and found nothing out of place, although her mother would have a soar throat for a few days. Kagome sighed, walked out of the room and shut the door. It's good to have you back okaa-san she thought as she walked down the stairs.
~end flash back~
AN- ah ha! And thus the solution as to why kagome's mother was such a bitch, keep and eye open because this “black mist” character is VERY important and will show up multiple times during this fanfic……that is before I revile who he is MUWHHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!
