Chapter 3: Kagome Higurashi

 

Kagome smoothed a few locks of her raven hair and walked out of the Takahashi's guest washroom. She made her way down the somewhat dimly lit hallways back towards the living room. Her mind had been cluttered with thoughts of Inuyasha, unfortunately. But she had to be sensible about this Takahashi fellow. He could disrupt the way her life was going. She had plans, graduate with honors, go to her choice college, become a doctor, marry a wealthy, rational, responsible and loving man, then have 3 children.

 

“ He's a two timer you know.”

 

Kagome jumped at the sound of the female voice and turned around to face the maid. Yura. She was the last person Kagome had expected to see.

 

“ Excuse me?” Kagome asked genuinely confused by the maid's words. The maid looked Kagome with watery eyes as she spoke.

 

“ Inuyasha.. He's a two timer.. He uses girls for sexual gratification.. His favorite game is catch the virgin.” Kagome's eyes widened in shock and disgust though she wasn't completely surprised by the information.

 

“ How do you know?” The maid tapped her foot and gave Kagome a look. Kagome's mouth opened into a silent “o”.

 

“ He'll wear you down, with his money and his charm. He'll say what you want to hear just so that he can get you. He's like poisoned sake, sweet but poisonous.” Kagome shook her head and gave the maid a grateful smile.

 

“ Thank you for warning me.. But I'm not that kind of girl.” Yura laughed bitterly her eyes twinkling with pain.

 

“ Neither was I.” With that Yura walked away and Kagome walked back to the living room newly informed. She sat down just as Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru walked into the room from the balcony. Both reeked of cigarettes. She was disgusted by the two of them, using their good looks, charm and money to get as many women as they could. They took their good fortune for granted.. She imagined just how much money they truly squandered on expensive dinners and trips to the mountains.

 

“ Are you excited about tonight? I have a lot planned for us.” Inuyasha began picturing what he would do to her. He locked eyes with the girl for a moment and he swore he could see anger, it had to be his imagination.

 

“ Actually.” Kagome gave Inuyasha a pensive look. “ I think I might just stay home. I'm not really in the mood to go out.” Inuyasha frowned.. if the bitch wouldn't play the game, he would lose his car. Sesshoumaru smirked picturing how great he and the bitch of the week would look in the Z4.

 

“ Kagome go on ahead. We're all spending the night here anyway. You deserve to enjoy a night on the town.” Hiroshi told his daughter who instantly shot him a dirty look. She turned to Inuyasha who had a big grin on his face.

 

“ Well I guess it's settled then.” Inuyasha said with a smirk.

 

“ Come on let's go now.” Inuyasha said with an excited tone. Kagome sighed and gave her father and mother each a kiss on the cheek as Inuyasha grabbed her hand to lead her to the underground garage and the arsenal of cars. He pressed a button on the remote attached to his keys and a black Porsche beeped with its brake lights flashing. They both got into the car and Inuyasha started the car licking his lips as he glanced hungrily at the girl.

 

“ I know about your game Takahashi. I won't fall for it.” Kagome growled out once she fastened her seatbelt.

 

“ What game is that Princess?” Asking innocently Inuyasha gave Kagome a look of hurt.

 

“ Don't play dumb! Let's just get this night over with.” Kagome frowned and looked out the window as they pulled away from the Takahashi mansion.

 

“ Who's saying such horrid things about me?” He asked innocently, whoever it was, would be dealt with.. He would make sure of it. Kagome scoffed and crossed her arms.

 

“ Now why would I tell you that.. So that you could get them to shut up. Never Takahashi.”

 

“ No, of course not. It's just so that I can set them straight. I'm really a good guy. Everyone just assumes the worst of me..” Inuyasha said sadly though he thought,

` I'll have you begging for me bitch. I'll have you on your knees begging for me.' Inuyasha thought with determination.

They arrived at a café and Inuyasha ordered them both some coffee. He always took girls here because who would suspect any ill intentions from a guy who took a girl to a café. Kagome sat at their table looking especially glum. She looked around the café, it was a typical café, warm colored walls and eccentric décor. The only interesting thing about the place was the face that the table tops were made from old book covers covered with resin so that they were smooth.

 

“ Don't look so sad Princess.” Inuyasha said sliding her over a steaming cup of coffee. Kagome blew onto the cup gently.

 

“ Then quit playing idiotic games.” Kagome said seriously looking Inuyasha dead in the eye. Inuyasha was taken aback by the look in her deep blue eyes. Her eyes shook him with such intense emotion. He shook himself from her gaze and sighed.

 

“ Don't be so sure of what kind of guy I am Princess. You don't know me.” Inuyasha took a sip of his coffee and grimaced, still hot. Kagome giggled for the first in front of him and Inuyasha smiled genuinely.

 

“ You're right Takahashi. I don't know you.” Inuyasha waited for her to add that she wanted to know him, but it never came.

 

“ How about this Princess. No more games.. We'll just be friends.” Inuyasha offered, this was the plan he put into play with difficult ones. Kagome took a sip of her coffee then nodded.

 

“ If you promise no more games then MAYBE we can be friends. MAYBE.” Kagome said scrutinizing him with her eyes. Inuyasha smiled gratefully at the girl.

 

“ Thank you.” Inuyasha inwardly smiled.. This was the in he needed to get to her. Just one chance was all it would really take to get her. He was sure of it. “ So where do you go to school?” Inuyasha asked curiously.

 

“ Well since our parents companies are merging Daddy thought that we should move to Tokyo.. so I'll be starting at Sukebe High when school starts up.”

 

“ That's awesome.. I go there you know.” Inuyasha smirked and Kagome rolled her eyes while Inuyasha tried to reach for her hand. Kagome pulled her hands back so that she could rest on her palms.

 

“ I know.” Inuyasha began idly stirring his spoon in his cup of coffee. Kami coffee disgusted him.

 

“ What does a girl like you do for fun?” Kagome smiled shaking her head, like they would have anything in common.

 

“ I like to read and write music. Actually I'm a big fan of hanging out at café's like this.. not to drink coffee but just order some tea and read the paper.” To any other teenager her list was less than exciting. But to Inuyasha it was just a little bit appealing.

 

“ Well you live in Tokyo now.. You've gotta get used to the fast paced way of life.” Inuyasha told the girl who gave a doubtful snort.

 

“ I don't `gotta' do anything.” Kagome finished the last of her coffee and waited for Inuyasha to finish his. “You don't like coffee.” Kagome stated to Inuyasha whose eyes widened.

 

“ How do you know?” Inuyasha squinted his eyes at the girl. Had someone told her about the café too?!

 

“ Well I noticed that every sip you took you more or less forced down. Why'd you take me here if you don't like coffee?” Inuyasha laughed nervously as the girl's piercing eyes bore right through him.

 

“ I thought you would like the place. I like the café.. just not the coffee.” Kagome nodded and accepted his answer.

 

“ How about we go over to a club I own.. I promise you'll like it. You can meet some of my dumbass friends.” Kagome gave him an apprehensive look, her and clubs.. yea right. Loud music, lewd dancing and alcohol didn't sound too appealing to her.

 

“ I don't like clubs.” Inuyasha was amazed.. She didn't like clubs? All the girls he'd bedded loved clubs and to be honest he hated them.. the noise hurt his ears and the smell of cheap drug induced sex was nauseating.

 

“ You'll have fun, I promise.” Kagome sighed with resignation and nodded as Inuyasha led her back to his car.
