Chapter 5: Saint Kagome of Tokyo

 

 

 

Kagome stumbled slowly into the darkness with Inuyasha leaning heavily against her shoulder. Carefully Kagome whispered to Inuyasha that she needed to find the lights and left the hanyou clutching the wooden doorframe. The girl fumbled around the wall until light engulfed the room, momentarily blinding the two. Inuyasha grumbled a few choice obscenities using his hand to shield his eyes from the offending light. After adjusting the light to a more suitable voltage for the hanyou, Kagome helped Inuyasha into the bedroom.

 

If the circumstances had been different Kagome would have praised Inuyasha's décor. Two large black bookshelves occupied the east end of Inuyasha's room, both filled with thick books, there was a loveseat adjacent to the bookshelves and a coffee table in front of it with an open laptop and papers scattered around.

 

There was a big screen tv in the southern end of the room and on both sides of the tv there was a door, both doors were open so Kagome didn't feel bad at looking inside, one of the doors was Inuyasha's walk in closet and the other was what appeared to be a spacious bathroom.

 

The largest piece of furniture in the room of course was Inuyasha's California king size bed, which was in itself sexy, the plush comforter was made of silk, one side red and the other black. The numerous pillows were made of the same material of the comforter but were solid black. The girl pulled back the covers and helped Inuyasha beneath his silk sheets.

 

“ Ibuprofen?” Kagome asked Inuyasha quietly as the hanyou began drifting off to sleep.

 

“ Bathroom…medicine cabinet.” The hanyou said with a yawn before succumbing to his fatigue. Laughing slightly Kagome pulled up the covers around Inuyasha instinctively then walked into the bathroom. Once she located the medicine cabinet she was amazed at the little pharmacy Inuyasha had. There were different kinds of muscle relaxants, painkillers and antidepressants all in neat rows. Kagome shook her head clicking her tongue at no one in particular and found the ibuprofen, which happened to be the only over the counter pill inside. She took out two and filled up a glass with water then padded over to Inuyasha's bed.

 

Yawning slightly she placed the glass and pills on Inuyasha's nightstand, in front of his alarm clock. Finally feeling that she did all she had to tonight she removed her gray blazer then walked over to Inuyasha's black loveseat. The girl settled herself in the most comfortable position she could find and used her jacket as a makeshift blanket.

 

A soft knock on Inuyasha's door startled Kagome from her sleep, slowly opening up her eyes fell onto the maid.

 

“ Good morning.” Yura said with a smile, Kagome smiled back and got up from her place on the loveseat.

 

“ Morning.” Kagome said stretching her sore muscles. “ What room was I supposed to stay in..We got in rather late and I never got to ask anyone.” She rubbed her tense neck and tried to smooth out her unruly hair.

 

“ Follow me.” Yura said leading Kagome out of the room. Once Kagome went to the room her parents' were staying in, they were getting ready to go have breakfast with the Takahashi's.

 

“ How was your little date with Inuyasha?” Maemi asked her daughter as she brushed her short wavy brown hair.

 

“ It wasn't a date. It was all right.” Kagome said curling into the bed and pulled up the covers. “ We got in late and no one was up to tell me where I was supposed to sleep.” Kagome yawned audibly. Her mother turned to her and frowned when she saw the bags beneath her daughter's eyes.

 

“ You look so tired!” Maemi said putting down her hairbrush then approached her daughter.

 

“ I am tired Momma.” Kagome laughed softly closing her eyes.

 

“ Then sleep honey. I'll wake you up later.” Maemi kissed her daughter's forehead then was halfway out the door when she heard her daughter's voice.

 

“ Thanks Momma.”

 

 

 

 

 

A loud beeping resounded in the room waking the extremely hung over hanyou. With a painful groan Inuyasha slammed his clawed hand against the clock. Sunlight peeked from around his curtains and he looked down at his clock. He gulped down the ibuprofen and water trying with great difficulty to recall the events of the previous night. Sure, he remembered parts of it, but most of it was a jumble of blurs and beers. He chuckled to himself once he noticed he was still wearing his clothes from last night then changed into something more comfortable. As he walked towards his walk in closet he noticed a purse next to his laptop.

 

`What the hell?' He thought back to Kagome but wondered why her purse was in his room. Changing quickly he grabbed the purse and went to the living room. He found the maid and wrapped an arm around Yura who laughed softly pulling away.

 

“ Baby what's wrong?” Inuyasha asked Yura who looked at him with pity.

 

“ Nothing Inuyasha, everyone's out on the terrace.” Yura bowed to Inuyasha before stepping into another room. Inuyasha frowned slightly then went outside to where his family was.

 

“ Well, look who finally decided to wake up!” Inutaisho said with a chuckle. Inuyasha looked at Kagome who looked tired but still utterly beautiful. Mentally the hanyou chastised himself for thinking that. His eyes locked with Kagome's and she gave him a weak smile.

 

“ This is yours.” Inuyasha said tossing Kagome her purse, which she barely caught.

 

“ Thanks.” Kagome said clutching the purse to her frame.

 

“ Now that you're up.. what do you think of the Higurashi's should stay here while renovations are being done on their mansion?” Izayoi asked her son who grinned widely.

 

“ I think that's a wonderful idea Mother. It would be so very exciting!” Inuyasha hugged his mother. Only Kagome saw through the sarcastic undertones of Inuyasha's words and actions.

 

“ Then it's settled.” Izayoi said with a delighted squeal. As the Izayoi and Maemi discussed the details of their living arrangements Inuyasha looked over to Kagome who seemed really interested in her tea. Inuyasha pulled up a patio chair and sat next to Kagome.

 

“ Do you want to go out for a drive later?” Inuyasha's voice filled with hope and friendliness. Kagome cocked an eyebrow with uncertainty then sighed.

 

“ Sure. Where are we going?” Kagome asked curiously.

 

“ That's a surprise Princess.” Inuyasha said with a smirk.

 

“ Don't let his charming nature get to you Kagome.” Sesshoumaru said bowing to the girl then taking a seat. “ He's just trying to get in your pants.” He whispered into Kagome ear. The girl `eeped' then looked at Inuyasha who was glaring angrily at his half-brother.

 

“ Am not Fluffy. We're just trying to be friends.” `who fuck.' Inuyasha gave Kagome an apologetic look. The girl squinted her eyes at both men and sighed shrugging them both off.

 

“ It's true Sesshoumaru or at least he told me that he only wanted to be friends. I have yet to figure out if it's a trick.” Kagome admitted to Sesshoumaru who smirked at his younger brother.

 

“ Well, you'll be lucky to secure the friendship of such an amazing creature.” Sesshoumaru told Inuyasha. Kagome rolled her eyes which went unnoticed by both Takahashi men, did they really think that no man had ever hit on her? For Christ's sake, she wasn't a saint.
