Chapter 2: Kagome and Hojo

At lunch, Denise looked around for an empty seat. She preferred an empty table too, but it didn't look like she was going to be able to have one.

"Denise!"

Denise rolled her eyes, "Hey, Hojo."

She turned around to face him. He was smiling away, not seeming to get the hint she didn't want to talk to him.

"Come sit by us."

Denise looked at his friends, two girls.

"Everyone," Hojo said, "This is Denise, the new girl I told you about. Denise, this is Kagome and Aya."

Kagome smiled, "Hello, Denise. How do you like Japan?"

Denise sat down beside Aya, "It's okay. I miss my home though."

Kagome nodded, "I know the feeling. I moved when my dad died, my new house is pretty cool though so that's good."

Aya rolled her eyes, "It's a shrine, nothing special about it."

Kagome gave little hump noise, "It's better than some boring, regular house."

Aya raised her eyebrows, "You've changed Kagome. You used to hate your house not to long ago, now you love it."

Kagome had a little shocked look, "I guess I have changed a bit."

Denise shrugged, "I would hazard a guess and say you had a life changing experience awhile ago."

Kagome looked at Denise with a scared expression, "Why would you think that?"

Denise smiled, "Don't get worked up. I'm just good at judging people."

Kagome sighed, "Oh."

Aya jerked in her seat, "Say, Kagome, what do you say we have a little party on the weekend? Your house is perfect for that sort of thing, being so big and all. We could throw Denise a welcoming party."

Kagome's expression brightened, "That's a great idea!"

Aya smiled, "Okay then, Denise we're throwing you a party."
