Being jerked from her sleep Kagome groaned, swatting at whom ever was trying to wake her and rolled over. Wincing her painful reminder of last night came back to her. Once again the strong grip on her arm shook her. Finally submitting into the agonizing glare of the sunlight she opened her eyes. A dark figure loomed over her, blurring into its background.

"Come on, wake up," she groaned recognizing the grumpy voice. Shoving him away slightly she pulling her sleeping bag over her head. "We don't have time for this Kagome."

"I want to sleep more,"

"Maybe you should let her sleep….her wounds seemed pretty bad last night…" Sango's worried voice interrupted as she walked up behind him. Kagome peeked out looking up at Sango and Inuyasha, as he glared his infamous glare at her.

"I want to be gone in case those Youkais attack again, we can't risk her getting further injured," a low rumbling growl came from his chest as he spoke, causing Sango to slink back. Sighing Kagome threw her sleeping bag open, giving Inuyasha a narrowed glare and got up.

"Ah," she held her side bending over in pain. Inuyasha was by her side before she could even take a step forward. Golden orbs were wide with the tinge of worry and concern in them.

"You okay?"

"Yeah, fine, just a little sore," she mumbled suppressing the urge to sigh as he left her side. Sango instead came over and helped her roll up her sleeping back and collect her stuff.

"He was really worried last night," Sango said as she hoisted Kagome's bag onto her shoulder, careful not to known her boomerang loose. Kagome looked up at her, her eyes a little uncertain.

"More likely worried about not having me to collect anymore shards," she muttered as they met everyone outside. Sango chose to ignore Kagome's last comment as Inuyasha came over to her. As if clock work Kagome climbed up on his back, fitting her legs snug on either side of him and her arms around his shoulders.

"Ready?" she chirped looking back at Sango, who nodded as Kirara transform and her, Shippou and Miroku hopped on.

One of the half Youkais from last night was crouching in the tree above them. It's golden silvery eyes watching Kagome's every move. They moved slowly as the group of travelers started into the forest heading east.

I must go tell Mistress Shinkou, he thought leaping gracefully off of the tree and speeding towards the opposite direction of the gang. Maneuvering through the thick bushes and shrubs it made it's way to a hidden cave.

Running along it's pitch black entrance he finally reached an enormous cavern filled with tropical looking flowers and water. A platform sat in the middle of the water, a narrow pathway the only way leading up towards it. In the middle of the platform sat a huge tree. It's roots uplifted sticking out of the water. All around the cavern were half-youkais of all different species.

"My Lady," he bowed before the tree as the same lady who was watching Kagome appeared in front of him. "Your prey…they are on the move." Her silver eyes flamed with fury and looked about.

"I want that girl, take as many youkai as it takes…she won't get away from me," he bowed, howling up as many half-youkais appeared from the small caves in the walls of the cavern. Rushing out of the cave they all followed the leader as Shinkou stood smiling. "You can't get away from me girl."

Inuyasha stopped moving as they neared the exit of the forest. In front of them was a cliff and a mountain. Below the steep drop was an ocean type body of water. He looked back at Kirara and the others.

"We'll have to all walk from here on, the only way around here is a ledge, barely wide enough for me," they nodded as Kirara turned into her smaller form. Kagome slipped off his back looking around, sensing something.

"There's…." he looked back at her, eyes a bit angry for her delaying. She looked around her, eyes widening. "Can't you…"

"What?" he spat as the others looked at her with a questionable look. Her blue eyes moved to his again, fear and horror in them.

"You can't feel the shards?"

"Wha.." just as the full word was about to leave his lips they attacked. Dozens of half-youkai attacked them. Kagome screamed as Inuyasha flung her out of the way of an on coming beast. Growling he swiped out at the monster looking man. His opponent roared, barging large teeth and horrid breath. Inuyasha gagged jumping forward with his arm extended. "I'll kill you!"

"Hiraikotsu!" Sango cried swinging her boomerang out, knocking back the two on coming youkais behind Inuyasha. Kirara transformed again, baring her teeth at them as Shippou scrambled up on top of her.

Kagome groaned, looking up she saw the exit of the forest. Looking to the other side she screamed to see a half-youkai running at full speed towards her. Struggling to get up she took off running towards the opening in the forest over head. She grunted as something smashed into her, claws digging into her arms and shoulder.

"G-G-Get off of me!" she screamed as a female youkai hissed at her. Flinging her arm with more strength then she thought she had the half youkai was flung off of her. Getting up once more, using her left arm to cradle her right one she moved quickly to the opening. I have to get out of here! She thought finally staggering out of the dark forest and into the blazing sunlight. Walking forward she didn't notice the drop off until it was to late. A youkai pounced on her, knocking her over the edge. Screaming she went plunging head first into the dark and deadly choppy water beneath her.

The sting of the water could be felt all around her. The new harsh cold temperature badly wanting her to shiver. Air bubbles surrounded her body, giving her and odd tickling on her bare legs and wounded arms. Twisting around in the water she tried to swim upwards. Her short skirt didn't seem to be the problem, but something clinging to her legs was. Trying to open her eyes she was forced to shut them by the severe sting of saltwater. Something cold and slimy wrapped around her legs, pulling her further down. Her lungs burned as she started to lose air. The under current slammed her against the rocks, causing her to gasp for air that wasn't there, filling her lungs with water. Trying desperately to cough she couldn't and ended up inhaling more salty water. Suddenly she was moving up towards the surface quickly. As her surroundings started to bright she felt someone grab her arm, yanking her clear out of the water.

"You're not dying on me, not yet," a woman's harsh hiss wrapped around her as she went soaring through the air. A few seconds later she was thrown onto the dirty floor coughing up water and gasping for air. Her hair clung to her shoulders and stuck to her back. Looking up she saw a women wearing a black dress that split open over her breasts with a blood red shirt under. A collar around her neck, her hair piled on top of her head in a bush of curls. Her lips were ruby red while her eyes held a silvery eerie color. Grabbing Kagome's lower arm her shimmery ruby nails dug into her skin and already open wounds.

"Kagome!" she tried to look back at Inuyasha's call but the lady held her captive. Her eyes seemed to have a strange effect on Kagome, causing her body to go limp but she remained conscious. With a wave of her hand Kagome's rapidly approaching friends were flung back, landing yards away from them.

"L-Let her go!" Sango screamed reaching for her boomerang to find it gone. Looking around her she saw it sticking out of the ground. The lady began to laugh as she held Kagome by the arms as she floated into the air.

"I wouldn't let this precious girl go to such weaklings who do not see her potential," she grinned, her eyes hardening, "finish them youkai!" she disappeared as the youkai attacked the group.

"NO KAGOME!" Inuyasha yelled flinging another demon dog off of him. No…

A searing pain started to boil in the pit of Kagome's stomach. She groaned, trying to move, trying to comfort the pain she was feeling. It hurts…she thought biting down on her bottom lip. The salty taste of her own blood reaching the inside of her mouth. W-why can't I open my eyes? Why can't I move?! She was starting to panic and the pain inside her started to grow. Soon the searing hot burn engulfed her completely, causing her to scream out. Finally she opened her eyes, being able to move she bolted up breathing heavily. A ringing in her head caused her to grip the sides of her head in pain.

"Wh-what did she do to me?" Looking around she found herself in a crater filled with crystal blue water. Shimmers of light reflected off of it up into her eyes. For an odd reason it seemed to sooth the pain. Moving a bit she looked down at her reflection to see…ears?
