Chapter Fourteen: Shippou Interrupts

 

 

As arranged Kagome met Inuyasha at his motorcycle after school; he was there before her for once. “Ready to go?” He asked smiling when she walked up. She nodded and climbed on behind him.

“No helmet?” she asked, one brow raised.

“Nope. If you really want to wear one I'll buy one just for you.” Offered Inuyasha.

“I don't really want one,” Kagome admitted. “I like to feel the wind in my hair and on my face. Let's go.” Inuyasha grinned back at her for a second then they roared off.

“We should have the place to ourselves,” Inuyasha said when they arrived. “Shippou supposed to go to a friends house today and my aunt is at work.”

“So.” Said Kagome. “Just what do you think we're gonna end up doing?” Inuyasha wiggled his eyebrows suggestively.

“You'll see.” He unlocked the door and they went inside. “The movie's are over by the TV go pick one out. I'll get us some popcorn and a soda.” Inuyasha headed for the kitchen and Kagome went into the living room to pick a movie.

“How do you have Final Destination 3 on DVD already?” Kagome asked when she heard Inuyasha come back into the room. “It just came out in theaters.”

“It's a bootleg version.” Answered Inuyasha. “It's very good, no heads in the screen or anything. Is that what you want to watch?”

“Yeah.” Kagome put the movie into the DVD player while Inuyasha covered the living room windows so it would be properly dark.

“We didn't have any popcorn so I just grabbed a bag of chips instead.” Inuyasha told Kagome as they settled down on the couch together.

“That's fine,” Kagome said absently snuggling into him. The movie started and they watched in a comfortable silence. When the movie was over Kagome yawned and stretched. “I will never ride a roller coaster again.” She declared sleepily. Inuyasha laughed and shifted them on the couch until he was lying on top of her.

“I'll protect you.” He offered.

“Thanks, I didn't know you had power over death.” Kagome said dryly.

“It's not something I advertise. Just between you and me; he owes me a few favors.” Inuyasha grinned wolfishly. Kagome giggled. Inuyasha kissed her.

“Mmm, you taste like Cheeto's.” Said Kagome dreamily. “You're making me hungry.”

“Well, it wouldn't do to have people thinking I starved you.” He reached with one hand for the bowl of Cheetos, the puffed kind, which was on the table. He stuck one end between his teeth and wiggled it at Kagome sprinkling her with Cheeto dust. Kagome laughed and raised her head enough to bite the Cheeto in half.

“Thanks.”

“Want more?” Inuyasha asked.

“No, I prefer the crunchy kind. I wouldn't mind another kiss though.” Said Kagome batting her eyelashes.

“I'd rather not, but if you insist,” Inuyasha kissed her again. “Do you want to put another movie in?” He asked when they came up for air.

“No, I just want to sit here with you.” Kagome said. Inuyasha rolled onto his side and propped his head up on his elbow.

“I don't remember much of what was said at lunch today when you were rubbing my ears,” Inuyasha started, “But Miroku said you asked me if I ever remembered meeting you before high school. Why would you ask that? Did we meet sometime before now?”

“It was nothing.” Kagome said looking away. “Don't worry about it okay?”

“But-“ Kagome cut Inuyasha off by pressing her lips to his.

“Don't worry about it.” She said again when he pulled away.

“Whatever you say.”

After that words weren't necessary or possible with the way their lips seemed to be glued together. Kagome was sitting on top of Inuyasha and his shirt had come off and Kagome's was next when they heard a loud “Ewwww!” Kagome shrieked, rolled off of Inuyasha pulling her shirt down. Inuyasha sat up and saw Shippo standing in the doorway of the living room with a horrified expression.

“What are you doing here brat?” Inuyasha asked reaching for his shirt. “I thought you were going to stay after school then go to one of your friend's house.”

“I was going to go to Ansi's house, but he got sick at school and came home early.” Shippo said. “Your gross.” He added before walking away, probably headed for his room.

“That was embarrassing.” Said Kagome brushing some hair out of her face. “You should probably take me home now.” She checked her watch.

“Alright, let me tell Shippo where I'm going.” Inuyasha stood and walked away. When he came back they left.

Before Kagome into her house she and Inuyasha kissed one last time. “I wish I could come in for a while,” Inuyasha pouted. Kagome laughed and brushed some hair out of his face.

“It's not like we'd be able to do anything; both my mother and brother are here. Besides you can't leave Shippo alone to long. Bye” She opened the door to go in.

“Kagome?” Inuyasha said. She turned and looked at him. “I l- that is I liked the way you looked when Shippo walked in on us today. All disheveled and surprised. Lets do it again sometime.”

Kagome laughed, “Definitely.” She agreed before going inside.

`I can't believe I almost told her I love her.' Inuyasha thought to himself as he walked back to his motorcycle. `There's no way I'm going to offer her my heart on a platter until I'm sure she won't just toss it away when these three weeks are up.'

 

 

Hi ^_^; Sorry I haven't updated in sooooo long. I kinda have writer's block and then I went on spring break. I probably still won't be updating much cuz I won't be on the computer too much. There's some stuff going on at home here and plus I'm in a play at school and I'm at school everyday till like six o'clock.
