InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Glowing Eyes in the Shadows ❯ Home Sweet Home ( Chapter 1 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Anon.: Thank you for reviewing. It's my turn to write the initial chap for Tattoo and I'm having a bit of writers block. Thank you for reminding me to work on it, I'll try to get the new chap out soon.
Charmander: Thanks a lot. That's what I was trying rather badly to accomplish. It means a lot to me that someone likes it.
toasterwoman360: Thank you for your comment. It helps me actually continue putting this junk on paper...ink…the internet...whatever, instead of just deleting it.
Dumber 1 and dumber 2: *bangs head against nearest object* STOP BOTHERING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT PISSES ME OFF!!!!!!! JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TwistedEvilStapler: Thanks, that really helps some one like me who has very low self-esteem.
Hmonkey13: Thanks, I'll try to fix the dull part thing…….but I don't think I'll do a very good job of it though, so be warned.
FataLFelineOfTheNight: Thanks, that was what I was trying to do with that. I didn't update soon though, sorry. I just wasn't too sure where I wanted to do with this chap. Once again sorry for being really late.
suki_moon_princess: Thank you for your review. I'm sorry there wasn't much but the song in there. I don't really remember why I wanted to push the storyline in later….yeah, that kinda happens a lot. Thanks again for reviewing.
“talking” `thinking'
~~~~~~ = scene change
This is a continual reminder, If you have a question that might be embarrassing, seems kinda stupid (I've had a lot of these), or that you just don't want to write in a review you can go ahead and email me about it. You might want to put Mm.org or something like that in the subject though, I'm really forgetful and might accidentally delete if I don't recognize who it's from. *bashful grin* if this does happen I'd like to apologize now.
Disclaimer: I have a question….why is it that all authors have to write this stuff, I mean come on if we really did own InuYasha and company, would we really waste our time writing this stuff when we could just write it as an actual episode?
The Furian
Home Sweet Home
“The shard's in its neck,” Kagome yelled as the demon swooped in for another attack.
“How much more can this thing take,” Shippo asked as he had to duck for the eleventh time that day. They had been going at it for half an hour already. This particular bird demon wasn't necessarily strong but was fast as hell. Even InuYasha had a hard time keeping up with it for long.
“Shit,” said hanyou cursed as he dodged once again.
“How much more can you mongrels handle,” the demon announced arrogantly. That arrogance came at a high price, seeing as he left himself open for those few seconds.
“KAZE NO KIZU” InuYasha shouted as he brought the Tetsusaiga down in an arch of light. The dying bird's screech could be heard for miles.
Kagome walked over to the remaining corpse and picked up the shard, purifying it instantly. She brought the tiny bottle full of their collection of shards out from under her shirt and added the new one. “We only have 15 shards, even after all this time,” she sighed.
“Remember Kagome we've gotten a lot, they've just been stolen from us time and again,” Sango explained trying to comfort the younger girl.
“I know, it's just….if we can't even hold onto our own shards, how will we be able to defeat Naraku at this rate. After all, he almost has the entire jewel already.”
“Come on we'll beat that bastard easy, nothing to it,” InuYasha said as he put his now untransformed sword away.
“Don't be so sure my friend, these lovely ladies do have a point,” Miroku said eyeing said ladies, “Naraku will be a formidable foe.”
“I already told you we'll beat him easy. If you aren't strong enough -”
“InuYasha, if we could beat him easily then we would have already killed him by now!” Shippo said with a look of exasperation.
“As much as I'd like to finish this conversation, I would prefer we did it some place where it wasn't so easy to hit us,” Miroku commented as he gestured to the open field they were standing in. “He has a point. We should move to someplace more - get your hand off of my ass you HENTAI!!!” Sango shouted as his `cursed' hand got way to close for comfort…..well at least that's what she'd say to anyone who asked. In truth, she liked the monk, just not his perverted comments or actions, especially when they weren't focused on her alone.
“But, Sango I'm just showing my appreciation of your lovely body,” Miroku defended. Shippo looked at him blankly, “Sure you were, and in ten seconds I'll sprout wings and fly to the moon.”
“First off, with all the strange occurrences we get around here that could be a possibility. And Secondly, my hand is cursed, I am not responsible for my actions,” Miroku defended as he backed away in fear from the now very pissed off Sango.
Both InuYasha and Kagome rolled their eyes as Kagome murmured, “That idiot should really stop fooling around. Maybe then he'll tell her that he loves her and we can all move on with our lives.” InuYasha gave her a quick glance then turned around, heading in the direction they started off in before they were interrupted with the whole attack thing, while saying, “Yeah like that'll ever happen as long as that pervert keeps his thoughts and hands where they don't belong,” under his breath.
With all that said and done the group left the clearing, heading into a dense forest not to far away.
~~~~~~Later at night around a blazing campfire *catches on fire* OWWWWWWW!!!!!!*runs around in circles* put it out put it out put it out~~~~~~
As the ramen was distributed and the kettle put over the fire to boil, Kagome brought up a subject she knew she was going to have to fight for. “InuYasha, I have to go home,” she said with a cringe at the expected explosion.
She wasn't disappointed, “WHAT?!?!? Wench, you just came back. We still have to look for jewel shards. You were whining before about how Naraku'll get them all. Leaving every damn time we get somewhere sure as hell ain't helping!!!”
“InuYasha, I haven't been home in 6 months!!!! My family really appreciates knowing that I haven't been killed in battle or something. Besides, it'll take at least a few weeks to get back to the well, so we still have an opportunity to look for shards, just a little closer to home. Not to mention we're almost out of ramen,” she used the ramen ploy in hopes of getting him to give.
He seemed to contemplate it for a while before the ramen won out, “Fine but you're not staying really long, only a day at most. And we're only going to get more ramen, no stupid tests or anything like that.”
Kagome gave him one of those smiles that made him feel all fuzzy inside (A/N: Aww Inu's going soft *gets hit over the head* oww…) as she jumped over and hugged him, coming back with a little pink in her cheeks.
`If only she did that more often' InuYasha thought with a grin.
After the ramen was finished and the containers thrown into the fire, the travelers went to their respective bedrolls. InuYasha jumped into a tree, looking over his friends as they slept.
~~~~~~At Kaede's hut~~~~~~
It turned out that in the three weeks it took to get back to Kaede's they didn't find any shards. While InuYasha brooded and sulked that Kagome was going home, Kagome put her pack in the old hag's hut and walked off towards the well.
Miroku saw InuYasha's pout and walked over, “InuYasha, if you're so upset, why don't you just go with her? She'll only be gone a little while. You have to let her go home sometimes you know. She's spent so much time here and deserves a break once in a while.”
“I know that, it's just…I'm afraid that one day she won't come back. Keh! See ya monk,” and with that the hanyou bounded off after the homecoming miko.
(I working on this when I really should be studying for my English final -_-;; o well)
~~~~~~With Kagome~~~~~~
“Wow I can't believe I haven't been home for over 6 months. I wonder how everyone is,” Kagome said to herself as she walked the beaten path towards the Bone Eaters Well.
When she reached the clearing InuYasha burst through the trees. “I coming with you wench. Who knows how long this would take you unsupervised,” InuYasha said as he fell into step besides her.
She sighed, “InuYasha, I promised that I would return in under a day. I won't go back on that.”
InuYasha looked at the ground. “I know, I just want to go with you is all,” He said in a near whisper. At this, the young miko's demeanor improved greatly.
Nothing was said as the duo jumped into the well with a flash of blue light.
~~~~~~In Modern Tokyo~~~~~~
“Okaa-san, I'm home!” Kagome shouted as she entered the house, InuYasha right behind her. (I don't know what her mother's name is so I'm just gonna call her Higurashi-san)
“Kagome you're back. How are you dear? It's been quite a while since you've been home,” Higurashi-san said as she poked her head out of the kitchen.
“Yeah well we've been searching for jewel shards. With all that traveling it's kinda hard to check in as often as I used to,” Kagome said to her mother, a slight shade of pink dusting her cheeks.
“That's alright dear, I know what you've been doing in the past is very important.” Higurashi-san gave her daughter a comforting hug. Kagome's blush darkened.
“Well, I guess after all that traveling you'd be hungry. So I made extra miso, just incase you came back.” Higurashi-san smiled at her daughter's surprised expression.
As her mother headed back into the kitchen, Kagome looked at InuYasha and asked if he would like to stay for dinner.
InuYasha, being one not to pass up a free meal, gave his answer by walking into the kitchen and sitting down at the table.
As dinner cooked, Souta came out of the influence of the television. “Hey sis, you're back. You were gone a lone time.”
“Dinner's ready,” Higurashi-san said and the family started eating.
~~~~~After Dinner~~~~~
Souta jumped up after he was finished and rushed to put his bowl in the sink.
As he rounded towards the front door Higurashi-san spoke up, “Souta, where are you going?”
Souta looked guiltily at his mother, “I'm going to see if the people who built the house across the street have moved in yet. The construction has been going on for so long and the style is more Western. I'm pretty sure they're foreigners. Whenever I passed the site, I understood some of the English that was being spoken. You can't blame me for being curious.”
InuYasha looked at Kagome, “What the fuck does that mean?”
Kagome, however, had a bigger question on her mind. She turned to her mother, “Someone bought the lot across the street? That space has been deserted for years.”
“The construction started about a week after you left last time. There's no advertisement outside, so I'd say it's a private home. The house had been steadily getting bigger over the months. Either the owner likes their space or there are quite a few people moving in,” Higurashi-san replied.
