Chapter 1:
As Kagome blinked the sleep away from her eyes, she still could not believe how much beauty the woman pertained. From the expeditions she encountered with her friends back in the past, the miko could notice on what was real and what was not. She believed everything from the dream she came upon. 'Nothing is impossible,' Kagome pondered as sweat still dripped down her face and neck and onto her bed. The ex-miko looked at her alarm clock and noticed it was 4 in the morning, "Well there is no point in staying in bed," she told herself while throwing the comforter off of her body. "A shower is needed and I might as well get started on packing and informing my mother about the long awaited journey that lies ahead of me. A tear dripped down her face as she spoke to herself once again, "I always knew that I would be able to go back sooner or later."
"I am going to miss future plumbing," Kagome sighed as she retrieved her bag to pack her belongings. She packed clothes, towels, two bottles of shampoo, along with other necessary items such as food and womanly hygiene products. The futuristic woman continued packing until nothing else was able to fit into the bag. 'Hmm that should do it.' Satisfied with what was stored in her sack, she knew it was time to go down stairs and confront her mother about the new quest.
"Good morning, mom," Kagome says as she kissed her mother on the cheek.
"Morning hun, how did you sleep last night?" Her mother, Mayumi, replied as she continued preparing breakfast for the family.
Looking slightly sad Kagome responded, "That's what I came down here to talk to you about."
Mayumi stopped arranging breakfast and took her daughter's hand while she led her offspring to sit at the table, "Now tell me what is bothering you, dear." At that moment Kagome told her mom about the dream, and her new found journey that she has to take along with Inuyasha's half-brother. As Kagome closed her eyes and sighed heavily, "That is not all, momma. I was told that I am also not human." As her eyes began to open, she missed how her mother became stiff. "D-Do you know anything about that," the girl asked her mother hesitantly. 'I mean it's been 6 years and my features don't show that I have gotten older since my 20th birthday.'
"No, of course not, dear," the mother replied after she regained her composure. 'It's still too early.' "Dear; that is very stressful. Are you sure you want to do this," Kagome's mother asked.
"Yes, and I do not know how long it will take me before I can visit or when I'll actually be finished with the journey."
"Well sweetheart; as long as you are sure about this; I am behind you 100 percent," hugging her daughter, "good luck and return back home safely."
"Thank you. You know it's been 6 years since I could've passed through the well, it'll be good to see how everyone is doing. I am dreading this new journey, but being able to see them once again gives me a bit of strength."
"That will be great for you. You have been moping around here ever since you were sucked back into this time. Not to mention you could not get a career due to your grades back in high school."
Kagome hugged her mom once again before she retrieved her piece of luggage and headed out towards the shed. "Tell grandpa and Souta I said goodbye and I am sorry that I am leaving so quickly," Kagome informed her mother as she waved and departed towards the well house.
"I know that I'll be seeing you soon," Mayumi whispered as she went back into the house into the kitchen to continue preparing breakfast for the others.
Kagome slowly stepped into the woodshed feeling nostalgic as she reached closer near the old, rusty well. "It's now or never," she states as she jumped into the well. After five seconds of silence, Kagome felt her hair begin to swirl around her while a purple and pink light engulfed her whole physique to transport the young female back to where she once used to visit.
The once young miko opened her eyes while looking up to see a sky and not an outbuilding. 'I made it back,' she thought excitedly. Throwing on her traveling bag she climbed out of the well. "I can't wait to see the others," she says to herself as she ran towards the village. Kagome stopped a few feet away from Kaede's hut to catch her breath. As she walked closer and finally arrived at her first destination, the ex-miko slowly moved the flap and walked in starling the habitant inside. Her eyes focused solely on the bloated older woman in front of her. 'Oh my god; is that Sango… a very pregnant Sango.' At that very moment, the said woman wobbled towards Kagome with a surprised expression, "Kagome, is that really you?!" Before Kagome could answer, she was consumed in a bearlike hug from her long lost friend and sister.
"It's really me, Sango. The well has finally let me pass and I have missed you all so much," Kagome replied as she returned the hug as she cried a bit. "I have so much to tell you."
"I am so glad to be able to see you once again, sister. Everyone will be so happy just as much as I am right now," the pregnant demon slayer replied.
"I will tell you once everyone is together on why I was able to return," Kagome specified while helping Sango sit back down. "So tell me how everyone is fairing and what I missed over the years."
Sango began updating Kagome of what happened after her disappearance. It devastated Kagome to hear that Kaede had passed away two years after she was gone, but was happy that Kaede had a lived a long, happy life. She also became elated to find out that Shippo has grown and is now a general in Sesshomaru's army. 'Maybe I won't get killed after all,' Kagome thought hopefully. Once Kagome heard that they were not able to save Kohaku, she began to tear up knowing how much Sango had suffered back then. The ex-miko was a bit sad upon hearing that Inuyasha decided to mate with Kikyo and now they have children two together and one on the way. 'Well I couldn't expect him to wait for so many years not knowing if or when I would arrive again.' Then she hugged Sango at finally hearing her and Miroku had decided to finally marry 3 years after her disappearance, and have five kids with one about to be born. "So many emotions, but I am so very happy for you guys, Sango. I knew you and Miroku were good for one another."
"Yes, but he is still a pervert at times."
Kagome decided to ask while she giggled, "Speaking of everyone, where are they?"
"They went to wash up with the children and should be back very soon."
As soon as the pregnant woman finished informing Kagome of the others whereabouts, the said individuals stopped in their tracks to get a better look at the stranger talking with Sango. Sango's kids were oblivious as they ran up to their mother while Miroku slowly carried Kirara close behind to get a better look at Kagome.
Kagome watched happily as the toddlers jumped onto Sango. "Kagome I will like you to meet my first born son Kohaku; my second child Kagome; and these three triplets are," the demon slayer identified pointing at one girl, "Atsuko," then the other girl, "Aiko," and ended with the smallest boy, "and Akiyoshi." Feeling honored to have one of Sango's children to be named after her and loving the look on Miroku's face was priceless, she went to hug Sango once again while saying hello to the little ones. "You can close your mouth, Miroku," Kagome suggested, "yes, I'm back and have missed you all so much," she finished while giving him a firm hug. While looking into Miroku's eyes one last time, she turned a bright smile towards her dog-eared friend and watched as he began to steer closer in her direction.
"And we all have missed you as well," Miroku replied. "Isn't that right, Inuyasha?"
"Keh."
Inuyasha had his ears plastered on his skull and began to walk towards them with Kikyo beside him and his youngsters as well. As soon as all were within arm's length, Kagome reached out and also gave Inuyasha a bear hug as she whispered in his ear, "it is okay, Inuyasha. I do not blame you from moving on and continuing with your happiness." The ex-miko gave her dog eared friend one last squeeze and did the same to Kikyo, "Congratulations on becoming mates."
"T-Thank you," Inuyasha replied a little flabbergasted.
"Thank you Lady Kagome; It is wonderful to have you back," Kikyo responded.
"Thank you," looking down she witnessed two adorable children looking up at her and bended down on one knee, "and who are these cuties?"
After he got over his shock, Inuyasha replied, "The boy is Akatsuki and the girl is Amami."
Kagome wondered on why both children seemed to be fully human, but was brought out of her musings on what she heard next from Inuyasha.
"Say hello to your Aunt Kagome."
"Hello Aunt Kagome," the kids said happily while they each received the same love their aunt expressed to everyone else.
"Well hello, dears," Kagome answered back smiling. "Inuyasha, why are they human and not part demon," Kagome decided to ask.
"I thought it would be better to conceive on my human nights," he responded. "That way they will not go through with the same fate that I went through."
"Wow, Inuyasha," the future woman stated with amazement, "being mated and becoming a father really did allow you to become more mature. Great job, Kikyo," she giggled along with everyone's laughter.
"Keh," Inuyasha retorted with his nose in the air, "I have always been mature."
"I highly doubt that," Kagome answered, but then decided to inform them of the reason of her sudden return. "Now it is time for my explanation on being able to reappear to this time."
As the futuristic woman saw the serious gazes of her old comrades and the kids out playing with each other, she began to tell all about her dream and why she was able to pass through the well once again. Kagome was truly even more surprised on how Inuyasha took everything in without an ounce of anger once his half-brother was mentioned. 'Time really changes everyone.' She thought. 'Now I have an ounce of hope that Sesshomaru will not kill me at first sight... maybe.' "There is also something else that is needed to be discussed. This is very crucial and can only be between us," Kagome expressed desperately.
"What's wrong, Kags," Inuyasha asked.
"I was also told that I am not human."
"H-how is that possible, Kagome," Sango was the first to comment and ask.
"I don't know," Kagome sighed, "before I could get any more information on the matter, the strange woman disappeared."
"I may have an idea, but I am going to need a little more time to figure out if my assumptions are correct," Miroku stated while receiving all eyes on his form. "The signs have always been there; from the time a piece of Kagome's soul was given to Kikyo to the incident with Kanna's mirror."
"You have a point there, hoshi," Inuyasha piped in. "I am sure Kikyo could be able to help out as well." Once Inuyasha included his mate in the new piece of information, Kikyo nodded her agreement.
"Thanks, guys," Kagome stated in gratitude, "your help is extremely appreciated.
"No problem, but it is a lot to take in," Sango expressed her concern. "Do you need us to come along with you as well?"
"No Sango. I can take care of myself; I am a lot stronger than I was before. Even though I was a bit miserable after being dragged back to my time, I still did things that made me tougher. Besides you and Kikyo are pregnant and have children; it is too dangerous for you guys to be travelling in your state. There is one thing that I will need, if you don't mind me asking."
"Just state what you need, Kagome," Sango replied as the others nodded their agreement as well.
"Is it possible if I can borrow Kirara to take me to Sesshomaru's castle, so that I can get there quicker by night fall?"
"Not at all, sister, anything for you, but Kirara has to agree also," Sango stated as she glanced down at Kirara and watched the cat nod her head added with a mew.
"Thank you everyone. Well it is time for me to go if I want to get there as soon as possible," Kagome smiled at the others while walking out of the hut. "Once things are situated with Sesshomaru, I will visit to see if you found anything out Miroku and Kikyo." Kagome jumped on Kirara's larger form, "Sorry I cannot stay for supper, but we will see each other soon. Let's go Kirara."
Once Kagome and Kirara were off towards the Western Lands, Inuyasha decided to speak once again, "She's still a weakling," he smirked. "Ow, what did you do that for," the half demon asked after having his ear pulled by Kikyo.
"Cowardly to say after she leaves," Kikyo retorted with a giggle.
It was almost sundown and Kagome was starting to see Sesshomaru's castle come into view. "I hope he doesn't skin me alive for coming onto his lands, but how I do miss Shippo," she said to herself. "Let's land, Kirara," Kagome shouted through the winds as the citadel gates were in view.
The fire cat descended a few feet away from the gateway as soon as the request was heard. "Thank you for the lift Kirara; I will see you soon," Kagome gave her gratitude while giving Kirara a peck on the fur. The ex-miko stood back and watched as her traveling companion flew back towards the village. "Now on with one of the hard parts," Kagome stated after taking a few breathes to gain some confidence and approached the gates. "Let's get this over with."
"Who goes there," a bear demon asked.
"I am here to see Lord Sesshomaru."
The demon smelled Kagome and growled, "My lord does not converse with lowly humans," he spat on the ground, "let alone mikos."
"I'm sorry, you must have thought that I was asking," Kagome exclaimed as her body started to show off a pink glow, "I am telling you that I am going to see Sesshomaru."
"Lord Sesshomaru does not want to see you," the bear demon roared, "and I guess I will have to teach you a lesson," and said demon charged at Kagome.
Kagome sighed and shook her head, "Why do they always have to choose the hard way."
"Tell me, General; what has become of the other lands," Sesshomaru asked as he wrote on important documents.
"Nothing has changed within their territories, and they all wish to continue their alliance with you," Shippo responded, "The Northern Lord wishes to speak with you regarding on expanding his imports onto your lands for trade."
Pleased to hear this information he continued to write. "Very well, have one of the messengers sent to set up a time for counsel."
"Hai," Shippo responded and was about to turn around to leave the Western Lord's study.
"Also have one of my scouts continue to keep an eye on the Eastern Lord; I do not trust him."
"Neither do I," the fox demon agreed.
Before they could finish off their conversation, a certain human girl walked into the room wearing an elegant blue and silver kimono. "Hello Sesshomaru-sama, dinner will be ready in 30 minutes," Rin informed as she bowed to her father figure.
"Hn, I will be down."
Rin walked to the door to exit the study and glanced at Shippo with a bright blush. Too shy to say anything, the chestnut eyed girl hurriedly excused herself and rushed out. The demon also adorned a small flush as well.
The small interaction did not go unnoticed by the Daiyoukai. 'Hmmm I think Rin has already found her a mate and I greatly approve.' Before Sesshomaru could finish his thoughts; he and Shippo heard a loud commotion outside on the castle grounds. He stood from his desk and sped toward the disorder with his general in tow. The Lord of the citadel approached the front gates and saw that most of his warriors were surrounding a fight.
"ENOUGH!" The demon lord snarled and received his soldiers and a stranger's attention. "You have one second to get back to your stations," he exclaimed as his whip began to form, "or I will find new combatants to take your place."
Sesshomaru watched as his militia did not think twice and scattered back towards their assigned areas. Once the crowd dispersed, the Western Lord and his general saw a scratched up Kagome as she stood above a beaten and burnt bear demon. The Lord analyzed the woman and before he could speak, he heard his general's voice.
"K-Kagome is that r-really you?"
Turning at the voice she heard, "Shippo!"
