Chapter Two~*

Hello~*

BEEP!! BEEP!!

Kagome's hand snaked out from under the almost black covers and smashed the alarm clock to the floor. Bits of glass and metal sprayed everywhere along with a couple batteries.

Kagome sat on the edge of her bed giving no acknowledgement of the shards on the floor. Scooting off her bed, she stepped on a pointy shard of metal. Flinching slightly she made no move to remove the offending object. Walking stiffly, and leaving a thick trail of blood behind, she made her way to her closet pulling out a pair of black cargos and a black no-sleeved turtleneck sweater. After pulling these on she applied very dark black eye shadow and white powder on her face, making her even paler than she already was.

Running down stairs she got to the bottom right before her brother and grandfather. They too were donning black attire and sad expressions. Sota walked slowly over to her his eyes round and shimmering with tears. He slid his small hand into her limp one and grasped it slightly. She smiled a little and followed her grandfather out the door.

Inuyasha stood among the throng of people outside a church that morning. He stood in a black suit that was practically forced on him by his father and older brother. Said brother, Sesshomaru, was wearing a similar suit, as was their father. Inuyasha also had on a black cap that looked out of place with his dressy attire.

He often wondered how stupid humans were. He was indeed a half-demon and always wore a hat. At school his teachers gave him special permission and he owned so many that they had their own drawer in his dresser. But what really got him was when people would ask, "Why do you always wear that cap?" and not even notice that he had no ears on the side of his head.

Suddenly an organ was heard indicating that they should go into the white building.

"Why are we here again?" Inuyasha asked his mother.

"Hun, it's because the Higurashi's just moved in and they lost their mother. They need comfort." She looked very somber indeed. "Plus," she continued, "Their daughter is your age, you should get to know each other."

"Please, mother," Inuyasha sighed. "She is the weirdest, gothic loner I've ever seen." Mitsuko Misatu looked down at her son sadly and frowned at his words. But just as he walked into the church Inuyasha saw Kagome sitting in the front row with a little bay and an old man both who were crying. Kagome's was just as stoic and expressionless as the day he first saw her at the beginning of the week. He was guessing she had missed the rest of the week because she was close to the corpse .

Inuyasha sat between Sesshomaru and his mother. After a short eulogy they passed the coffin and Inuyasha saw the resemblance between this woman and Kagome. Looking at the plaque place by the coffin he saw the name Kiya Higurashi. He had seen that name many times in the paper for police warnings. Maybe that's why Kagome was such a weirdo.

At that moment he heard his father's voice along with another females voice.

"I'm right then that you are in my son's class?" Kagome's head tilted sideways so she could see Inuyasha's scowling face.

"Yes," Her voice was soft and made Inuyasha feel much warmer than he was in the cold weather outside. Since the clouds were blocking the sun, this was saying a lot.

"Why don't you two talk and get to know each other." Mrs. Misatu left attached to her husband's arm, Sesshomaru trailing behind. Sota and Jii-san headed to the car.

"Tch." Kagome turned at the noise emitted from Inuyasha's mouth.

"So," Kagome broke the awkward silence. "Why the hell are you even here."

Inuyasha looked up from his feet and responded, "my mother is very sensitive and overly friendly to strangers."

"She seems to be the only one."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Well, it looked like seeing me that first day was the last thing you wanted to do. Huh?"

"You don't seem to care that your mother died."

At this Kagome scowled deeply and turned to see her family gone. "I'm sorry Kagome, that's your name right?"

"Yes," her voice was quiet and her face showed her somberness. Something moist hit her face and Kagome and Inuyasha looked up to see raindrops pouring down onto the glistening grass.

"You need a ride?" Inuyasha's voice was now sensitive and soft. Kagome was debating trusting this boy who had just insulted her. But you provoked the insults. Damn conscious.

"Yeah. Sure." Inuyasha locked his hand around her wrist and tugged her gently toward his red Ferrari. "Nice car." Amusement had seeped into her voice.

"Thanks." Opening the door for Kagome, he shut it and drove her towards the shrine he remembered from the `visit'.

He opened the door for her to get out. He noticed how her bare arm brushed softly against his-the sleeves of his suit are rolled up. Shivers ran up and down his spine as he lost the warmth of her arm.

"Bye," Kagome wore a little smile and waved good-bye. Inuyasha smiled too as he waved back. Even through all the make-up, she was just like most people.
