Chapter One

The New Beginning

"Hey you can't go now!" shouted Inuyasha.

"You need to trust on this I feel a presents in the future that just draws me there. I can't explain it but just something …"Kagome responded. Kagome jumped into Bone Eaters well without a second thought thinking about what was it that made her want to return then and there. As she arrived into her own time the new presence was with her through school. She spotted a girl about her age who she never saw before. She looked so different then her other friends. Kagome felt a tug as her feet carried towards this mysterious figure.

"You're new aren't you?" The girl shifted from the floor and looked like she had been crying and shouted back, "Have you come to make snotty remarks about me just because I come from a different country then you… I didn't want to move here but my mother said that it was necessary again. Go ahead say a mean thing about my hair or the way I dress. I know your dying to!"

Kagome was about to give her an argument but held back saying, "No I wasn't going to say anything about you. But yes you are a surprise where did you move from?"

"I came all the way from my only home America. We first moved all over America then she said we had to move back to her home land Japan."

"You originated from here?"

"Yes but I have American in me, and I still do what they do. Listen to pop, dress in a t-shirt and jeans not a little uniform." As she looked Kagome up and down.

"I have heard you miss school a lot. Why?"

"Um…Um I get sick…"

The girl turned around to a boy walking towards them and yelled out,"Hi cutie!" she walked over to the surprised guy and started to flirt with him. He was enjoying it and didn't even notice Kagome. Kagome was getting pretty mad at that point and stomped towards them. She pushed Hojo out of the way and yelled "You can't just say hi to Hojo, he's my boyfriend." Kagome walked to class without even asking the American her name and thought that something was different about her but just couldn't put here finger on it.

"You're saying that there is something weird about a human at your school who is half bar…I mean American that seems like she could be demon?" Sango asked in a quick tone.

"I don't know demon, but maybe… she is blond blue eyed girl who wears a necklace with the feathers, it's just strange."

"I could smell demon blood if I came back with you."

"No Inuyasha! She is very suspicious of where I go and if you were here she might put two and two together and discover the well.

"Is she beautiful?!" Miroku asked as he drooled on himself.

"Well that would be your judgment if you saw her. Maybe Kaeda might have some idea of this woman."

The group returned to the village to ask Kaeda about a demon that may have some elemental powers. As Kagome described the girl to Kaeda she asked one question. "Did she have a tattoo on her left ankle that looked like a tear, a leaf, a flame, a cloud and the sun and moon?"

Kaeda had a very worried expression on her face that made them shift and look at Kagome. "Well she seemed to have a tattoo but I couldn't see what it was."

"Who exactly is this person is all I want to know and what the hell is her importance that she scares you Kaeda! Inuyasha yelled.

Kaeda took a minute and very quietly said, "This woman can control everything from the weather to animals at her command to life and death. If any of the others demons found out that she had not harnessed her powers yet they could take her and try to use her for destruction. Her mother must have been the one from the beginning and gave her powers to her daughter who has no idea what she is. We need to find some way to bring her here till she can harness the power of destruction."

Everyone gave Kaeda a blank expression until Shippo asked, "How do we get her here?" Everyone turned towards Kagome who said if she wanted to follow allow her if not don't involve her stuck up self.

At school Rai, as the girl was called followed Kagome all over watching feeling, that she was going to tell her why strange things happened to her. Her mother said she was too young and she didn't need to know so the last result was to stalk Kagome. After school was out Rai followed Kagome to the shrine seeking the answers of her past. Rai was good at getting through undetected and watch as Kagome packed a bag and jumped into an old well. Rai was glad that she packed for anything and followed Kagome down in the well not knowing that at the other end she was to face a half demon, a demon hunter and a perverted monk during the warring state age.

"Kagome did she follow you through the well?" Inuyasha questioned her.

"I don't know and why has it become so important to you hmmmm?"

"I want an edge in fight Naraku if it was to come to that you hear me."

Rai peeked over the edge of the well looking at the people Kagome was talking to. There was two demons well a half, a woman and one guy. The half demon seemed to be listening to something other than his companions and sniffing the air. He said something to them and everyone went quiet as the dog demon got up and followed his nose to the well. She closed her eyes hoping he wouldn't find her. A light began to shine and knocked the demon down. Rai finally got her courage up and jumped out of the well, everyone turned towards her staring.

The demon rose and yelled, "So you're the bitch Kagome mentioned. You got something demonic in you because how can you create a blast like that when you're no older then Kagome! Oh you are so going to pay for that demon!"

Kagome jumped and yelled SIT! Inuyasha feel on his face and cursed Kagome for that. Rai looked up and yelled, "I knew you would be going to do something other than be sick. Now tell me why I can knock dog boy down!"

"Hey watch those insults or their going to cost you," Inuyasha barked. Miroku got up and walked over and said, "Beauty would you bear my child?" Rai looked at him and slapped him across the face. "Do not touch me like that again priest or it will cost you more then a mark." Sango burst out laughing as Miroku walked away looking not at all shocked at her answer.

"Don't mind him Rai he ask every girl he meets plus you a special demon." Rai turned her attention from the drooling priest to Kagome and asked, "Do you mean you have an idea about what I am? Tell me truthfully I can take anything!"

Rai hung her head after hearing small details of what she was. It really hurt her to know, but her spirit wasn't going be defeated quite yet.

"Can I come and search for the jewel shards pleassse!!!"

"Why would we want a scrawny demon that can't even use her powers? You'll just get in the way." Inuyasha glared at Rai.

"I will not! Let me come and train me maybe at a better use if a demon like you would help." She smiled back at Inuyasha feeding his ego. After talking with everyone it was decided that she could come as long as she trained to fight.

Snap! Snap! "What are you doing?" Inuyasha asked as he noticed a pair of headphones on her head.

"I'm listening to music from America, but you wouldn't understand it so I'll put in my Japanese version. Here you go put these on your ears." Rai hands Inuyasha held the headphones as he tried putting them over his dog ears.

After he figures the object out he ask,"Who are these people hmmmm?"

"Their my fav band from my home but since it took you to long dog boy to let me join here is a louder version of the sound." As she turned the music up the demon gave a yip as the loud sound got to his sensitive ears and threw the device back to Rai who caught it quicker then anyone suspected. Miroku seemed to stray back after the music trying to talk to Rai who seemed very upset about something.

You are very beautiful for a demon you know that?"

"I never knew about myself until now and it hurts that my mom tried to hide it from me I feel just crushed." She looked up at the priest who was smiling. He told her about what had happened and about the vortex in his hand. Rai felt better about being with these people, she finally felt accepted.

"Your first thing in training is knowing what you can do. Do something with water." Inuyasha instructed.

"But But I don't know what exactly is my power! I'll just think up something." Rai closed her eyes and chanted what sounded like a command. The river that was behind Inuyasha started to rise and fell on top of him. He was soaked with water and didn't seem very happy.

"Hey! What the hell was that for! I told you control the water not soak me with it!" He yelled.

"Sorry but I just asked the river to give you a bath because you smell funny."

Everyone was laughing at Rai's remark so hard they were rolling. Inuyasha looked over at them and barred his teeth trying to end the giggling. Kagome looked at Rai and said, "Well Rai you can control rivers but can you make a hot spring come out of the ground?"

"I can try. Remember I don't really have a good grip on these powers so don't be excited. Here goes! Warm waters from beneath, I reach down and grab your body and pull you forth to in front of me!"

The ground started to shake and a geyser shot out and created a large pool of what looked like hot water. Sango and Kagome were thrilled and hugged Rai as the jumped into the warm waters.

"Well at least she's good for something." Inuyasha sarcastically said to Miroku.

"I heard that demon! The earth below his feet, create a wall so thick to keep him in!"

The ground moved under Inuyasha's feet as the ground covered him with a little hole to look through.

"What was that for bitch? I was just being funny!"

"No you weren't you smelly, stubborn, ignorant and unappreciative dog!"

"You are going to get hurt for that you disgusting bitch!"

"Don't do this I have the ground under my control. Apologize and I may just let you out. I said maybe!"

"I am not apologizing to you! I won't train you anymore!"

Rai let out her breath and opened the earth allowing Inuyasha to barely slip through. He had dirt under his claws from trying to bust through the earth.

"Ok! Now don't use your powers against me! Do you hear me?!"

"I hear you half demon! Now, on with my lessons."

"Whew! My first week with you all and I haven't gotten to fight one demon." Rai said as she yawned.

"Maybe you are bad luck." Inuyasha insulted.

"Come over here dog boy and say that to my face." Rai yelled as she chased Inuyasha down the road. Kagome sighed and yelled sit. He fell and Rai grabbed on of his ears and yelled, "Don't do that again." Inuyasha grabbed his ears and whimpered.

"I like your spunk kid." Came a quiet voice in the air. Kagura stepped out from the shadows giving a piercing stare towards Rai.

"So this is your new friend. I thought you would be able to find an attractive one Inuyasha."

"What are you talking about red eyed freak!" screamed Rai as she carelessly ran towards the demon. A small sword was at her waist and she fast as lightning grabbed it and struck at Kagura. Kagura dodged it with ease and threw Rai off with a swipe of her wind attack. Inuyasha stepped in finally and attacked Kagura with the Tetsiaga. Rai awoke and saw Inuyasha chasing the demon away, and she thought to herself, I won't be able to fight like them. Kagome ran over to Rai and helped the girl up. Rai grabbed at her side but waved everyone off who wanted to help. Tears started to fall little by little from her eyes and Kirara saw and walked back to her and scooped her upon her back. Rai laughed at the animals actions to make her happy.

CRASH! CRASH! CRASH! CRASH! RRRRROOOOOOOAAAAARRRRRRR!!!! The sound of a giant beast could be heard from miles around. Rai knew it was coming for her, because it was always that way. She had practiced more with her arrows and could hit a target sometimes. The beast came out of the forest and rushed towards Kagome instead of her.

"Kagome….NO!" yelled Inuyasha as the beast grabbed her and started to squeeze her small body. Rai couldn't stand the sight of Kagome dying and something inside snapped and Rai ran faster then Inuyasha towards the beast and with her arrows got the beast to let go of Kagome who fell into Inuyasha's arms.

The beast went for Inuyasha but Rai jumped in front and took the blow hard in the face. She tried to stand up and barely made it.

"Rai get out of here I will take care of it!" Inuyasha yelled.

"No! Take Kagome and leave I will deal with the beast! Go…Now!"

"Take Kirara, Rai" said Sango as the large cat flew to Rai who hoped on it and flew at the beast. She shot arrows at its head making it confused but it came back at her and clawed her in the chest barely because of Kirara.

"Thank You Kirara. Now go for the back and I will hit it there." Kirara flew behind it and with a blast of energy Rai let the arrow fly and blast through the giant beast. Her first battle was over and she was in bad shape. Pain could be felt in her ribs, probably a couple were cracked and the blood coming from the cuts, the sweat made them sting as Kirara took her to the resting place of the group. Back on the ground Rai fell off into the dirt.

"Rai are you okay?" came voices. She was dizzy and the only that she could get out was, "I won." And then fainted there on the ground. She woke on a mat with bandages wrapped around her chest and a sleeping Kagome close to her. She felt relaxed that Kagome was fine and felt her wounds and groaned in pain and it awoke Kagome.

"Rai that was very brave of you. You saved our lives back there and you took everything all the blows and I am glad you came."

"Kagome can you promise me one thing?"

"Of course."

"I am glad Inuyasha taught me."

The girls started to giggle until the others came in to check on Rai and Kagome.
