Chapter Four

True Power

Sesshomaru flew to catch Naraku who was holding a struggling Rai. She was trying to form the fire sword but one of her hands was pulled behind her. How could he allow Naraku to get Rai? The group knew who he was now and couldn't turn around. On the ground he could hear them chasing after, trying to keep up. Sesshomaru kept going for Rai and hit Naraku every time. He followed him to the same place they made the agreement but now he didn't care for power. He knew the truth and couldn't let Rai die.

"So it was you the whole time Sesshomaru! You bastard!" Inuyasha attacked Sesshomaru with the Tetsiaga.

"Brother please stop! I was a part of a plan but when I fell in love with Rai all of that changed. I didn't know he was going to take Rai from me." Sesshomaru tried to explain but Inuyasha was not going to tolerate it. Kagome looked into Sesshomarus' eyes trying to find an answer and the same thing kept coming to her mind. He did love Rai and he didn't want to hurt her.

"Inuyasha! SIT!" Kagome yelled as Inuyasha went face first into the ground cursing the whole time. Kagome and Sango walked over to Sesshomaru and said, "We will help because I know you love Rai. She has changed because of you. And there will be no harm done to her in any way."

"I will help." Miroku responded as he step forward.

"She has become a friend and I will unite with you brother this one time!"

As they stormed through the place Kohaku appeared in his demon hunter suit ready to attack. Inuyasha went for the kid before he could throw his weapon at the raging Sesshomaru. He swiped at Kohaku to hold him off so that Sesshomaru could get through. Inuyasha knocked him to the ground holding him right arm down trying to take the weapon from his hand. Kagura was close behind and kept throwing her wind attacks not wanting to hit Sango or Miroku. She stepped out of the way for Sesshomaru that rushed past her.

"Put me down Naraku!" screamed Rai.

"No chance in that. I want your powers and I will take them." Naraku smirked

"You can't take them!"

"Oh I know how but first I need to chain you to the wall so I don't have to fight.

With the biggest chains Rai was held against a wall, awaiting what Naraku had in store for her. While he was busy making the potion Kanna was to try to take some of her soul from her to try and make it easier to force the potion down. Rai was not going to give up as easily as they thought and broke Kanna's mirror in two, letting all the souls trapped free. Kanna stepped back in fear as Rai struggled with the chains. If she could just get her two hands close enough she might be able to form the sword. She hoped that Sesshomaru had alerted the group and were here.

"What is going on in here! Kanna where is your mirror?" Naraku yelled

Kanna pointed to the pile of broken glass near Rai.

"What? How? She broke the mirror! But no one can!"

"Well I can and now you can't steal anymore souls."

"Damn you!"

A feeling led Sesshomaru to the room where yelling was coming from. He bust down the door to find Naraku forcing a liquid down Rais' throat.

"Nice of you to join us Sesshomaru."

"Sesshomaru please help me!"

"He won't help you. He just wants to use you as a weapon. Is that not true?"

"I did at first but then I fell in love with you and that all changed."

"You wanted to use me…then there is nothing for me to fight for…"

She swallowed the liquid and became very still. It looked as if she was dead but a faint heart beat could be heard. A green light took over her body as she faded closer to death as her powers were drained from her very soul the one that had believed in everything possible. She didn't want to fight anymore, nothing mattered now.

"Rai? What is happening to her?!"

"She is being drained of her powers and soon they will be mine!"

"But if she loses her powers she will die and the world will be destroyed."

"Not if I control them. She will die and I Naraku shall rule the earth forever!"

"No RAI!"

Naraku grew with the power and tore the house apart, going towards Inuyasha who had knocked out Kohaku. Sword ready Inuyasha lunged at Naraku who had a…fire sword. The same as Rai would use. Naraku had succeed in taking Rais' life and now wanted to kill him and everyone else. He would try but from what he knew of Rais' powers it would be difficult. He had to try!

"Rai you have to fight this. It is true that I wanted to but I quit. I wanted to just be with you and nothing else."

"How can I believe you? You tricked me into loving you and now this…who cares enough?"

"I do and so does everyone that is fighting to save your life. If you don't try everyone will die and then what will be left?"

"Sesshomaru do you truly love me as myself?"

"Rai I have and I always will!"

He embraced her in a passionate kiss hearing someone speaking an ancient prophesy. It spoke of true love being the only thing that could revive the guardian. It said that with her heart she would transform and fight the dark evil that plagued the world one thousand years ago.

As the voice died away Rai covered in a blue light floated from his arms as a rush of the most powerful magic swarmed around her body giving her full control of the powers that were once her mothers.

Rai woke up to a different place that was somewhere ancient and holy. It seemed so familiar as if she lived here once. Her mother stood in front of her as a faint spirit. Her mother spoke of this place being where she was born and lived before Naraku drove them out. She told of how this was the place that was once her beloved home that was always a place Rai could visit. Her life was vanishing and had to speak quickly to Rai before she passed on.

"Rai you have earned life because it is what you fight for. You earn death to protect everyone that cares for you. Treasure these gifts well because I will be watching you."

"Mother are you leaving?"

"I have to go to your father and live in peace now."

"Before you go mother there is a gift that goes to Sesshomaru is there not?"

"Oh he will receive it after you wake up and live again. Now go my beautiful daughter and learn what I know."

Back in the home Inuyasha was hurt badly from the attacks of Narakus'. Kagome was trying to attend to his wounds as best as she could. She could not believe that Rai was gone. Her friend that help her so many times was gone. She could tell that everyone was upset about her death and had more spirit in fighting. Then the place lit up in a blue light as a young woman walked down the stairs.

"Katina is, how could you get here? I thought…"

"I am not Katina, but Rai her daughter. You thought you had killed me but life and death are mine and they can not kill me. When you tried to break a bond I had with Sesshomaru you made us closer."

"But I read that if you lost your powers you would die!"

"I lost all that I learned but not everything. The fight ends here Naraku. One on one. I will finish what my mom did one thousand years ago."

Drawing forward a sword, that shown with great power, with the symbols of each element, that was hers to protect. She would protect all that fought for good. A light blazed through the dark sky for the sun to shine. Running forward she cried out that it was time to end the darkness and bring forward the light and in a flash of the brightest light Naraku was destroyed with her powers returned and all of his Shikon jewels in the hands of Kagome.

"These belong to you. I hope they bring you happiness as I have been given." She looked over at Sesshomaru who was smiling at Rai.

"Before you all leave I want you all to have a gift each from me. Sango this is a sword that was forged in the sacred fires of the sun. Miroku I give you a bottle filled with a star and when you need the light open the bottle and the light shall shine through and call me. Inuyasha I give you a pouch filled with the herbs of the wind. They will increase your speed ten times for each leaf eaten. To catch Kougra. Kagome these arrows and bow were carved from a tree that was blessed one thousand years ago. Shippo I know you love candy and this jar will never run out. This is what I give you.

"Candy!"

"Thank You Rai." They said all together.

"I don't think I need to ask you what my brother and you are going to do."

"Were hoping for it to be in the summer. Will you all come?"

"Of course!"

"Sesshomaru I have one special gift for you."

"I know what it is. It is you."

"You are so sweet to me. Something other then that. I have a ring that will allow you to tap into a small source of my power. We share everything together. "

"Yes we will."

"Sesshomaru my mother is gone and she left our house in the future. Would you wait four hundred years for me?"

"I would wait forever."

"In four hundred years on this day, come to this house." She wrote down an address.

*Back in the future*

"I hope he comes!" Rai said worried

"He will come relax." Kagome said trying to calm her down.

The door bell rang and Rai leaped up to open the door. In the door way stood a modern day Sesshomaru.

"I said I would wait didn't I?"

"Now I have nothing to worry about. We shall marry in the past and live to the future Sesshomaru."

"I knew you would have one last test for me, and I passed." As he held his wife to be, and kissed her.

"Sesshomaru there is an even greater power than mine."

"It's love Rai, the one between us."

*During the summer in the past*

Rai and Sesshomaru had been planning up till then what the wedding would be like. She had become his mate, his lover, and the one person who he would live with forever. The day came so quickly that he felt like it had only been yesterday he had met her. Rai walked up the isle in her beautiful wedding kimono.

"Can you believe were really here."

"No I can't believe everything went by so fast."

"I am glad that we met. It was set for the two of us to live together in this world."
