Chapter 1 Worthless

Kagome's fiancé approached her with furry raging in his eyes. He got right up in her face. Kagome was confused and shocked. "How dare you, you little bitch! I give you everything and you go and do this to me?!" He screamed. Kagome tried to back away but she had little luck. Her back was pressed up against the wall.

"What are you talking about Koga? Calm down and just talk to me." She said calmly. Koga shoved her into the wall and Kagome yelped in pain.

"You know damn well what I'm talking about! We could have been just fine if only you could keep your legs closed! You're a filthy, dirty whore! I know you have been sleeping with all those guys from your school!" He yelled into her face. Kagome was so confused. Her face obviously showed this.

"Koga, I would never-" She tried to defend but she was cut off when she was pushed towards the door.

"Get out! I don't want to ever see your worthless face again! Get out and don't come back! There is no way I will ever marry a dirty skank like you!" He screamed as he threw her coat at her. Kagome's heart broke in two. She took the engagement ring off her finger and flung it across the room at him. He dodged the ring and continued to pursue her.

"I can't believe you would say things like that about me! I didn't do anything wrong! I can't marry a man, no boy, that can't have faith in me and ask me before accusing! You are such a prick!" She yelled, grabbing her cell phone off the coffee table. Koga gripped her arm and dragged her to the door. He tossed her out and slammed the door.

Kagome pulled her coat on and started to walk down the side walk. She flipped the phone open and called her best friend Sango. Kagome was still surprised and shocked that Koga could do something like this to her. She thought he loved her. She tells herself she loves him.

Sango answers the phone. "Kagome! How are you?" Sango exclaimed as she answered the phone.

"Hey Sango. Me and Koga got into a fight. Could I crash at your place for a few days?" Kagome asked politely. She knew her friend would never turn her down so she knew she could just ask.

"Of course you can! Are you okay?" Sango asked worriedly.

"Yeah I'm fine. I'll just head over now. We can talk more when I get there." Kagome replied.

"Sure! Do you need me to pick you up? I can be there in no time." She asked quickly.

"No, don't worry about it. I can walk a few blocks." She said sweetly but it was only to hide her depression.

She hadn't been walking more than a few minutes when she felt the rain drops hit her cheek. She looked up. 'Great. Walking through the freaking rain. Just what I need.' She thought with a sigh.

She picked up her pace to a run to attempt to cut her time in the rain down. It had really begun to pour. She kept her head down so her face wouldn't get soaked as she ran. 'Of course I don't have a coat with a hood. Of course not.' She cursed.

She knew she still had a long way to go. She didn't realize she was already on the curb. She tripped and fell into a puddle on the street. She groaned at her clumsy nature.

She was about to try and sit up when she was showered with light. She looked in the direction it was coming from and a car was speeding towards her. She squeezed her eyes shut and waited for the pain to come. But it never did.

She opened her eyes and saw she was being carried by a guy with long silver hair. He landed and sat Kagome down on her feet. Kagome couldn't take her eyes away from his face. He wouldn't look at her but she could see his molten amber colored eyes.

"Y-you sa-saved me." Kagome stuttered out. The man glanced over at her then turned away. He huffed.

"What are you doing out in this kind of weather anyways? Shouldn't you be at home right now?" He asked harshly. Kagome blinked his questions. She then remembered why she was in this situation to begin with.

"Right. Well, I was heading to my friends house when the storm started." Kagome said as she looked to the ground. The man turned back to her. She looked up and met his gaze. It was guarded but kind.

"I'll walk you there. Here." He said as he through his jacket over her head. She was surprised by his generosity but gladly took it. She could smell him on the jacket and she thought it smelt very sweet. She quietly took in a deep whiff of it when they began to walk.

She couldn't help her occasional glances over at him every once in a while. He was very handsome. Whenever she thought about how hot he was, she would glance and quickly turn back if she thought he was going to catch her. She had a slight tent of pink on her cheeks from her thoughts.

'I just broke up with my boyfriend! Why the hell am I thinking like this!' She yelled at herself. But she couldn't help it. He was wearing nice cloths and a hat. A ball cap to be exact. She was curious why he would wear fancy cloths and then throw on a ball cap and ruin the look. Then she wondered how he saved her. She hadn't noticed him anywhere before she fell, and yet, he was close enough to pick her up off the street before the speeding car could hit her.

"Hey." Kagome said breaking their silence. The man turned to her. "How did you get to me so fast? I didn't even see you until after the fact." She asked. She could see the man's body tense.

"Uh... Ummm... Hey! I never caught your name." He said to change the subject. Kagome was easily distracted from her question.

"Oh yeah, sorry. My name's Kagome! It's very nice to meet you!" She said, offering her hand for a handshake. He smiled and shook it. Kagome smiled back and they continued to walk. The rain had slowed to a drizzle. She could see him more clearly now. His skin was evenly tanned. His clothes were a little tighter around his arms because he had shoved his hands in his pockets. She could tell his muscles were toned. "What's your name?" She asked. He looked away but still replied.

"Inuyasha." He said.

"Well that's a very unique name! I like it!" Kagome said sweetly.

She smiled at him and he grinned at her attempts of being friendly. Somehow, he felt like he liked it. He had strange feelings for this girl. When he saw her in the path of that car, he felt like his heart stopped. If something happened to her, he felt like he wouldn't forgive himself. But he didn't know why. He hadn't ever seen her in his life. Yet, he felt so comfortable around her.

They came in sight of Sango's house and Kagome felt like she didn't want their walk to end. She knew he probably had other things he had to do right now and he was most likely wasting his time on her. She thought to herself that he wouldn't want to ever see her again. They reached the end of the driveway and Kagome turned towards Inuyasha.

"Thanks for walking with me. And for saving my life of course!" She thanked him cheerfully.

"Forget about it. Just pretend it never happened." He told her. Then he turn towards her as well. "Don't tell anyone about... Ya know... What happened, okay?" He asked. Kagome didn't know why he didn't want her to tell anyone but if that's what he wanted, she would take it to her grave. She nodded.

His eyes were mesmerizing. They pierced right through her but she loved it. "Good." He said with a grin. He turned ready to walk away. Kagome felt a tug on her heart. She wouldn't ever see him again if she didn't do something, and quick.

"Wait!" She called. He stopped. Her mind swirled. 'What should I say? What can I say? Well. He's waiting. Say something!' She yelled at herself. She grabbed the jacket that was around her shoulders. "Here's your jacket back." She said as she pulled the jacket off and handed it to him.

He took the jacket and flung it over his shoulder. Kagome could have sworn he was a super model. 'He is so freaking hot.' She thought. He gave her a final grin and saluted her farewell. He turned and started to walk.

"Will I ever see you again?" She blurted out. Inuyasha peeked back at her but only for a moment.

"You should get inside before you catch a cold." He said slyly. Kagome had completely forgotten how cold she was. She was soaked to the bone from the rain and her teeth began to chatter.

She watched him walk away until he was out of sight. When she couldn't see him anymore, she shivered and headed for Sango's front door. She knocked lightly. Not a minute passed before Sango threw the door open and drug Kagome inside. She closed the door and hugged her friend.

"Oh god! Kagome you're soaked! I knew I should have picked you up!" She yelled as she franticly rushed Kagome up the stairs to change into some dry clothes. Kagome put on some of Sango's pajamas. They didn't fit perfect, but they would do. Then, they returned to the living room. Kagome plopped down in the sofa and relaxed in the soft cushions. Sango sat in the arm chair next to the couch.

"Soooo... What was your fight with Koga about?" Sango asked trying to be non-shalont. Kagome sighed.

"He accused me of cheating on him with guys from school." She said as she laid her head back on the couch. Sango was shocked.

"No he didn't! How could he say such a thing! You would never do something like that!" Sango yelled.

"I know right! I haven't even slept with him!" Kagome yelled in reply. The two girls giggled at her comment. Then headed to the kitchen to get some snacks. It was only around ten o'clock and they were going to watch a movie and eat some popcorn to lighten Kagome's mood before bed. The two girls chose a chick flick that empowered women's independence.

Sango had been up doing homework a lot of the day and was exhausted. She only lasted about half the movie before she fell asleep. Kagome watched the movie until Sango passed out and then she let her mind wander about the events that happened earlier that night.

She was so confused as to why Koga was acting the way he was. How could her accuse her of a thing like cheating with random guys. She had never seen him that angry with her. He never laid a hand on her in the intent of harming her until tonight. Then, he kicks her out on the streets without any care if she has somewhere to go. If she hadn't grabbed her cell phone then she would be shit out of luck. Kagome sighed.

'If Inuyasha hadn't saved me, I would be dead because of Koga.' She thought. 'Inuyasha.' He was so kind to her, even if he wasn't trying to show it. She could see past his guarded expressions. 'He must be a very sweet guy at heart.' She told herself. 'Why was he so guarded? I want to see him again. I want to get to know him better.' She thought. 'He's so mysterious. How did he save me? I didn't see him anywhere.' She questioned.

Her logical sense was spinning. There was no way for him to have gotten to her when she didn't see him anywhere around. I need to know him better. I need to figure out how he saved me from my certain death.

The movie ended and Kagome shook Sango awake. "Hey sleepy head! Movie's over. You should head up to bed." Kagome said sweetly. Sango yawned and smiled. She thanked Kagome and got up and headed to bed. Kagome got into Sango's hallway closet and pulled out a comforter and a pillow. She was gonna sleep on the couch until she could find somewhere else to stay. Lucky for her, Sango had a huge, soft, cushiony sofa that would be super comfy to sleep on.

She put the pillow down and laid on the couch. She pulled the comforter over her and snuggled into the warmth. It didn't take her long to fall into her sleep, filled with dreams about the mysterious man named Inuyasha.
