Chapter 2 Wish Upon A Star
"What the hell were you thinking?!" Inuyasha's brother yelled. Inuyasha ignored his yelling and continued making his dinner. "It's one thing that you saved that girl. But another that you told her your name!" Sesshomaru yelled. Inuyasha turned to him. "You know as well as I do that she could be a target now." Inuyasha narrowed his eyes at him.
"I won't let her be a target." Inuyasha growled. Sesshomaru sighed and sat on a bar stool across from Inuyasha. Inuyasha had continued preparing his food.
"Why?" Sesshomaru asked. Inuyasha looked up and wrinkled his brow at him in confusion. "Why did you walk her home instead of watching her from a distance, like you normally do?" He explained himself in more detail. Inuyasha thought about what he said for a moment.
"I don't know. I felt like it was my job to protect her. I don't know why." Inuyasha replied. He finished making his ham and cheese sandwich and walked to the other side of the island. He sat next to his brother and began to eat it.
Just then Sesshomaru's mate entered the room. She pranced over to Sesshomaru and she draped herself over his back to hug his neck from behind. "Hey sweetie! Why do I feel you're so stressed?" She cooed into his ear. A smiled crossed Sesshomaru's face. Rin was a human Sesshomaru fell in love with. She had a lot of energy and was very perky all the time.
"Inuyasha saved a girl earlier this evening." He started. Rin blinked.
"Well, that's a good thing, right?" She asked. Sesshomaru nodded.
"Then walked her home and told her his name." He continued. Rin gasped.
"Yasha! You know that's against the rules!" Rin said as she lightly punched his shoulder. Inuyasha just growled in annoyance and continued eating. "Well, why did you do it if you knew it was against the rules? Do you have feelings for that girl?" Rin asked as her curiosity got the best of her. Inuyasha had finished his sandwich and turned towards the two of them.
"I felt like I needed to stay with her, alright? Now get off my back!" He said as he got up and headed out for his nightly rounds. He slammed the door behind him and ran off into the night.
"Sesshy, what do think about what he said? He needed to stay with her." Rin said as her mind began to wander. Sesshomaru turned quickly on the stool and pulled Rin into his lap. She squeaked in surprise but then giggled as she kissed his lips gently. When they finished their tender kisses, Sesshomaru nuzzled his nose into the top of Rin's hair.
"I believe Inuyasha has found his destined mate." Sesshomaru said into her locks. Rin gasped. Then her face showed her excitement. She pulled back from his grasp so she could look him in the face.
"Awww... You really think so? That's so adorable! He saves her life and it ends up being his future mate! Our little brother is growing up on us! Hee hee!" Rin blabbered excitedly. She hugged Sesshomaru and he carried her to their bedroom. All this talk of mates was getting to Sesshomaru. They both needed some much needed alone time with this passionate romance floating in the air.

Inuyasha ran through the neighborhood watching for any suspicious activity. He found that everything was pretty quiet. He then thought about that girl. 'What was her name? Kagome.' His mind purred out her name. 'Why do I feel like this? I feel like I want to see her again. Like I want to know her. Like nothing else matters but her.' He remembered her face, her cute smile, her beautiful brown eyes, her raven black hair, her curvy body, the warmth from her skin and touch, everything! 'Her scent.' His mind purred again. He couldn't get her scent out of his head. It drove him crazy! She smelt so delicious.
His legs led him across the small town until he found himself approaching the neighborhood Kagome was staying with her friend. Then he thought about what Sesshomaru said right before he left his house. He put Kagome in danger. She could become a target for their enemies now. But he only told her his name. Nothing else.
'Would they target her for that? And she promised not to tell anyone about him saving her. So would she tell anyone about him at all? Did she care one way or the other if she even saw him again? She did ask before I left her.' He thought. Since he wasn't finding any trouble, he decided to check on her.
He got to the house and surveyed the surrounding area. He wanted to make sure he was to only one watching this house. If there was an enemy around he would quickly take them out. He found no one. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. He proceeded to approach the large front window.
He looked in on the living room and saw Kagome sleeping on the couch. He sighed quietly in relief. Then one corner of his lips pulled up into a slight grin and his eyes softened. He was glad she was safe.
Buzzzzz, Buzzzzz. Buzzzzz, Buzzzzz.
Inuyasha jumped at the sudden noise. Kagome's cell phone vibrated on the coffee table. Inuyasha ducked down so only the top of his head and eyes were above the window pain. He saw Kagome wrinkle her face in annoyance. She groaned as she opened her eyes and sat up. The blanket that had covered her fell to the floor.
Buzzzzz, Buzzzzz. Buzzzzz, Buzzzzz.
She picked up the cell and looked at who was calling. Inuyasha could see her panic on her face. He tensed. 'What's going on?' He thought. 'What is she worried about?'

The phone she stared at was flashing Koga's name at her. 'What do I do? Should I answer it? Should I ignore it?' Her thoughts raced in a panic.
Buzzzzz, Buzzzzz. Buzzzzz, Buzzzzz.
Her panic got to her and she flipped open the phone. "H-hello?" She answered.
"Kagome, I miss you." Koga whimpered. Kagome was shaken at what he was saying.
"What? What?!" She asked in shock. "You have to be kidding me!"
"Don't be mad at me Kagome. Come home. I want you here with me." Koga said.
"Don't be mad? You accused me of sleeping with guys I don't even know!" Kagome yelled.
"You know I'm just protective over you." He defended softly.
"If that were true, you wouldn't have thrown me against the wall and into the streets!" She said angrily. "You know what, just leave me alone. I don't want anything to do with you." She said as she forcefully closed the phone in frustration. Then threw the cell on the table. Tears filled her eyes and she cradled her face in her hands.

Inuyasha was surprised by the half of the conversation he had just heard come out of her mouth. He could feel him anger taking over his emotions. He wanted to pound his fist into whoever laid her finger on Kagome's face. He was pulled from his anger when he heard her sobs. He hated seeing her cry. 'Who could have called her?' He questioned.
He felt the urge to comfort her. Why was he feeling this way? She would probably think he was creepy and push him away. He needed to contain himself if he wanted to get to know her at all. He needed her to give him a chance. He looked in the window and saw Kagome picking up the comforter from the floor.

Kagome whipped her tears from her eyes and picked up her blanket off the ground. 'I need to get some sleep if I want to get up at all for school in the morning.' She thought as she sniffed away her tears. She pulled the comforter over herself and laid down on her temporary 'bed,' called a couch.

Inuyasha watched her fall into a peaceful sleep. When he knew she was alright, he chose to head home. The town was quiet and Kagome was safe. That was all he needed to know. He jumped from building to building coming closer to his home. He landed in the front lawn and walked to the front door. Most people around called their home a mansion more than a house. He entered quietly and snuck up the stairs to his room, careful not to wake Rin or Sesshomaru.
He got into his room and shut the door behind him. He walk over and plopped down on his bed. He couldn't get Kagome's face or scent out of his mind. 'What should I do about her? How should I go about getting to know her?' His mind swirled around these questions. His feelings were uncontrollable around her. ’I have heard legends of demons who find their mates from imprinting. But I never knew it could be true.' He thought. 'I don't want to let her out of my life yet. Not until I know for sure.' He declared.
Inuyasha rolled out of bed and went over to his oversized window. He looked out up at the stars. He saw a star shoot across the sky. He grinned as he closed his eyes and wished that Kagome would except him for who he was. He didn't want his heart broken again.

Kagome was woken by her best friend lightly shaking her and calling her name. She groaned once again as she tried to open her tired eyes to look at Sango. Sango had a sweet and cheerful smile on her face.
"Kagoooomeeee, get uuupppp!" She sang. "Get up sleepy head!" She continued happily, still shaking her sleepy friend. Kagome squinted her eyes a little when the morning rays of sun light hit her pupils. "Well good morning sunshine! You better get up and get ready for school if you don't wanna be late!" Sango cheerfully said. Kagome's eyes shot open and she jumped to her feet.
"Oh crap! I slept in!" Kagome shrieked as she scrambled to get dressed in some of Sango's smaller outfits and brush her teeth. Sango laughed at her frantic rushing.
"Chill out Kagome! I made sure you had time to get ready!" Sango told her friend with a giggle. Kagome sighed with relief and laughed along with Sango. She made sure her outfit matched and was cute. She was single now, might as well put herself on the market. She brushed her jet black hair and put on a little makeup. When she finished, she looked over herself in the mirror. She was very pleased by her appearance. She wished she Inuyasha could have seen her like this rather than having the look of a drowned mouse. She was feeling a pinch at her heart, like she missed him. She was confused by this and did her best to shrug it off.
When she entered the living room, Sango was getting her books together. "Shit! What am I going to do about my books!" Kagome panicked. Sango turned to her.
"We can share books today and we can go get your things from Koga's after our classes!" Sango told her. Kagome smiled as they left the house. They hopped into Sango's car and were off to their classes. They were in their sophomore year of college and had all their classes together.
Lucky for Kagome, none of her teachers had assigned homework that was due today. Kagome was just glad it was almost time for the weekend. 'TGIF.' Was all her mind was thinking as they entered the school parking lot. They reached their destination and Sango parked in the closest parking spot she could find. The girls chatted and giggled as they entered the school.
Classes were mello and no homework was assigned. Kagome was relieved. She was going to be stressed over this weekend from her moving out of Koga's house and didn't want any extra stress with school. They got in the car again and Sango started the engine.
"Sango?" Kagome said quietly.
"Yeah? What is it?" Sango asked curiously.
"I don't want to see Koga." She replied. Sango was surprised. Kagome looked over to her. "Could you go get my stuff? I'm... Kinda scared to go there." Sango was shocked. She leaned over to hug her friend.
"Of course I will Kagome. Did he hurt you?" Sango asked. She pulled back to see Kagome's face. Kagome nodded to answer her question. Sango was furious but didn't show it in front of Kagome. "Ok. I'll take you to my place and I'll get all your stuff from that blockheads place!" Sango told her with a sweet grin. Kagome burst out in laughter at Sango's name calling. Sango put the car in gear and sped home.
