It was early in the morning, about 6:30 when Inuyasha and Kagome emerged from the Bone Eaters Well. They were exhausted from the lack of sleep they received during the night, so they came to Kagome's house to get some rest. Suddenly Inuyasha sniffed the air and pushed Kagome back, "Smoke…" Fear lit up in Kagome's eyes as she ran out of the shrine and frantically looked around. Everywhere, there was fire and smoke, a huge crater replaced the usually comforting scene of her home. She fell to the ground and began to cry, tears pouring from her eyes, "What has happened here?" Inuyasha's understanding voice from behind her soothed her soul…a bit. Kagome bit down on her lip, trying to stop herself from crying. She was obviously ashamed and embarrassed, but Inuyasha didn't care. He walked closer to Kagome and put his hand on her shoulder, "Whoever the fuck did this will die, mark my fucking word!" He growled. She looked up and wiped the tears from her eyes, sniffling, "Thank you Inuyasha…" She said, her voice squealing at the end. She burst into tears again, "Oh gods how could this happen?" She screamed. For about five minutes they sat there, silent, it seemed to both of them like hours.

A sudden clang of metal and a familiar voice broke them out of this silence, "Kagome? Oh Kagome, thank gods you're here!" Her mother screamed. "KAGOME! INUYASHA!" Cried Souta, running towards them. Loud clicks from machine-guns came out of nowhere as they began to fire, pushing Sota and Miss Higurashi back against a wall. Blood sprayed from both of them as the bullets hammered them and pinned them against the wall. A sea of blood was unleashed onto the ground, coming from both of Kagome's beloved family members. Kagome pushed towards them, but Inuyasha grabbed her and held her close to himself, "There's nothing we can do…" He whispered trying not to be discovered as the shooting stopped. A man stepped forth and threw an Impact Shell into his weapon, "DESTROY ANY PLACES THAT COULD BE A POSSIBLE HIDING PLACE FOR THE GIRL!" He screamed. A grenade suddenly launched from the weapon and destroyed the shrine and the well inside. Inuyasha could never go home again. A piece of the debris hit Kagome and she cried out in pain, "OW!" She yelped, finally giving them away. The man turned toward them and looked back, "I'VE FOUND THE GIRL AND SHE HAS THE DOG BOY WITH HER!" He called to the others. More soldiers came from behind him and rushed toward them.

Inuyasha drew the Tetsusaiga and closed his eyes and envisioned the Windscar, cutting it and unleashing Tetsusaiga's full power. The men that stood in the way of his attack were thrashed left and right, tearing off limbs and heads, sending red painting the trees and the earth below them. Kagome gasped and looked the other way, throwing up. The commander of the group who unleashed the attack pulled out a Czech-9 (a machine pistol) and loaded it, giving the click noise that most weapons did when you loaded them (god I love that noise!). Suddenly, two figures jumped out from both sides of the commander and two G-18s (also machine pistols) could be heard as they unloaded on him. His chest ripped open and blood gushed everywhere as a gurgling noise came from his throat and his neck ripped open. The figures dropped to the ground and came into full view. Two boys, both Kagome's age stood there with smoking G18s and evil smiles on their faces. The taller one had blue hair with green eyes and stood about 6 ft. While the shorter one had black hair tipped with a blood red tint and had unusual deep red eyes with silver slashes going around the iris, standing about 5 ft. 11 inches.

Kagome eyed the strangers for awhile until one of them spoke, "I see you're the girl they spoke about…" The shorter kid said. "Definitely her." The taller one agreed. Inuyasha stood in front of Kagome and growled defensively, "What the hell do you want with us and why did you save us?" He asked them. "I'm Chaynes and that's Lance, we're here to track down Kagome Higurashi and the dog boy Inuyasha, Tokyo's military forces are looking for someone who can aid them in the war, someone with extraordinary abilities." He explained. Inuyasha stared at him and slowly turned toward Kagome, "Those bastards have been watching us…" He whispered. Lance sighed and put away his gun, "We haven't been watching you, the rest of Japan's militias have been monitoring your every move." "But that doesn't explain anything about you it just makes you look more guilty." Kagome pointed out. Chaynes laughed, "Yes I know but you didn't let me finish. Word of you two got out somehow and soon spread to every nation in the world, causing them to come to Japan. Our militaries tried to keep the others out, but failed. The other nations broke into Tokyo and caused mayhem and chaos. Now, another World War has broken out, but this is actually the first in some ways of speaking. It is a `True World War' because this time, everyone fights."

Kagome and Inuyasha stood there not saying a word. Finally Inuyasha spoke up, "And how the fuck does that make you two different?" He asked. Chaynes laughed again. "Oh yes…you've been gone a month now Kagome, longer than usual. You weren't here to experience the tragedy that befell the world. We wanted to bring to save you from them when you got here so we trained ourselves in combat and killed many until you returned." Kagome and Inuyasha nodded slowly as something bright lit the sky and a loud, ear shattering whistling noise smashed their eardrums. An RPG (rocket powered grenade) flew toward them at top speed, "SHIT!" Screamed Lance as he and Chaynes ran towards a forest. "What is that?" Inuyasha asked, confused. "That's something you don't wanna even get close to, GET DOWN!" Lance screamed over the banshee-like wailing of the RPG. Moments later, it crashed…behind them, sending them flying. Inuyasha grabbed Kagome and jumped behind a fallen log, while Lance got hit by a blunt object and flew back away from the blast. No one was really hurt except for Chaynes, a large piece of shrapnel stuck straight through his left arm and pinned him to the tree. Blood spurted out of the large wound, spilling to the ground at an alarming rate.

Kagome looked up after the dust cleared and ran to him, "SON OF A BITCH! Chaynes…are you alright?" She asked. Reaching for the extremely sharp piece of metal that kept him from movement. Before she could grab it he caught her hand and pushed it away, "Let me do it, go see if Inuyasha and Lance are alright." He said as he ripped the shard of steel out of himself. Even more blood gushed out from his arm than before, causing Kagome to cup her hand over her mouth to prevent herself from throwing up again. Chaynes ripped off his sleeve and tied it around the wound, "It'll be alright." He said emotionlessly. Inuyasha moaned and pulled himself up, "What the…hell?" Lance got up slowly, "They're only just starting to arrive, people from China, India, Pakistan, North and South Korea…and that's only the start." He said, slipping a Riot Shotgun out of his jacket. "What?" Inuyasha asked, once again confused. "They're other countries Inuyasha." He explained. Inuyasha nodded and looked toward where Kagome and Chaynes were. He ran quickly to them and looked at the covered wound, "How'd that happen?" Kagome looked up at him, "Shrapnel blast." She explained to him.

Inuyasha scratched his head, "Um…" Kagome suddenly realized he didn't even know what that was so she fixed her mistake, "A piece of metal from the RPG." She said, looking back down to Chaynes' wound, "We'll have to look at it later when it stops bleeding." She told Chaynes. He just looked at her and began to walk off into the forest, "Fuck it, I'll be alright."

Miroku, Sango, and Shippo sat by the fire, keeping to themselves. Finally, Shippo went nuts, "I'm bored, when is Kagome coming back?" He asked, his question going to particularly no one. Sango sighed. "I have no idea, she went back and took Inuyasha with her, kind of on a whim." She said, staring into the fire. Miroku couldn't help but take advantage of this lack of concentration and grabbed her ass. She turned around and smacked him upside the head, "Watch it Houshi-san!" Growled Sango, shaking her fist at him and threatening to hit him again. "Hai, sorry Sango!" Whimpered Miroku. Shippo laid back, ignoring his friends, "Where are you, Kagome?" He thought to himself.

The next morning, the three got up, ate, and continued walking toward the nearest village. It was a beautiful day, there were no youkai in sight, the birds were chirping and the sun was shining bright, but something still didn't seem good, "I have a bad feeling about this…" Miroku said in a serious voice. Sango looked around and then looked at Miroku strangely, "It's a wonderful day, how can anything go wr…" She didn't finish. A large snake youkai burst through the trees and sent some wood flying towards them, "DAMMIT!" Miroku screamed, diving to the side and pulling Sango and Shippo with him. The youkai hissed and bit down toward them at a great speed. Sango jumped up toward it and threw her weapon at it, cutting a bloody chunk out of its throat. But this attack didn't phase it a bit, though its blood rained down to the ground like a heavy red storm shower. Miroku shielded his face from the shower and threw his staff at the youkai. It stabbed into its forehead and knocked out something shiny. It was a Shikkon Jewel shard! Miroku ran to it and grabbed it, "We got one without Kagome…wow it feels great!" He exclaimed. Shippo suddenly began to cry, "I miss Kagome!" The youkai was dead already, guess the blood loss finally got to him. Sango sighed and picked him up, "Let's go back to Kaede's village and wait for her at the well." She suggested.

Miroku put the shard in a pouch and nodded silently. Sango smiled brightly, "Will that make you happy, Shippo?" She asked him. Shippo laughed and smiled, "That'd be great!"

A few days later, they made it back to the village and went into Lady Kaede's hut, "Did Inuyasha and Kagome come back yet?" Miroku asked. Kaede shook her head, "No…she has been gone a long time, shouldn't ye go after her?" "No, only those two can cross over to the feudal era." Sango said, still holding Shippo who was asleep. Kaede walked toward the door of the hut and looked out, "I think you'll be able to make it in with a jewel shard, just try it." The group nodded and walked outside.

Once near the Bone Eaters well, they all took deep breaths and jumped in. A sudden engulfing purple light filled and shot out of the well. Their screams echoed loudly as the light stopped, "Are we there?" Asked Shippo, who was now awake. They struggled to get out but were stopped by the debris from the Impact shell, "What the hell?" Miroku said, pushing away some. As enough of the rubble was cleared, they emerged from the tattered well. Their eyes widened, it was a freaking warzone in Kagome's time, with blood spattered almost everywhere in site! There were an equal amount of bodies, but only one spot really caught their eyes, it was the fearful permanent scar in the land left by Inuyasha's Tetsusaiga. Around the scar were gory bits and pieces scattered everywhere, drowned in a sea of red. Sango put her hand over Shippo's eyes to hide the gruesome detail, "I fear Inuyasha did this, but I don't think he had a choice…" Sango said quietly. Miroku nodded silently and gripped his staff tightly, "Kagome said there isn't any youkai or Hanyou in her time so we should be alright." He said, beginning to walk off toward the woods. The others followed him and soon found themselves in the middle of a vast wilderness, for some reason not very different from the Japan they knew. But it was a bit different, there were strange things lurking in the trees that could've passed as a youkai in the feudal era. Commandos, with red night vision goggles and dark black suits, their equipment shining in the moonlight. Four suddenly dropped from the branches and landed in front of them, "IDENTIFY YOURSELVES!" The one in front called. Sango drew her boomerang and threw it at them, slicing the small platoon in halves. Pieces of their intestines and their bodies dropped to the floor as blood gushed from everywhere. The rest of the commandos cleared out of there quickly, leaving them standing there, staring at the bodies on the ground, "We've resorted to murdering humans…if only Kagome would've stayed…" Miroku said, motioning to move on.

The three finally found a place to camp out, "Do we have any food left?" Shippo asked Sango, who was tending the fire. "Yes, lots of it, remember we caught some fish back in our era." She said, tossing some more wood into the flames. Miroku sighed, "I wonder if Kagome and Inuyasha are still alive…" He said quietly. Shippo burst out in tears, "THEY HAVE TO BE!" He cried. Sango patted him on the head and laid back, "It's ok Shippo, I'm sure they're alright."

Kagome twitched suddenly and woke up from some unknown noise, as she did she saw Chaynes and Inuyasha arguing, "She's mine asshole, I'm going to ask her to be my mate!" Inuyasha screamed unaware Kagome was awake. "Then why don't you do it today when she wakes up?" Chaynes taunted. "M…maybe I will!" Inuyasha stuttered. "Heh sure mutt face I'd like to see that." Chaynes laughed. Kagome sat up quickly and stared at them, "Um…boys?" She said. Both of them jumped so fast they fell on their asses, "FUCK!" They both screamed at the same time. Kagome eyed them in suspicion, "Why were you two fighting?" She asked them. "Um…we just had a little disagreement, that's all." Inuyasha grunted in response, he wasn't answering to anyone. Kagome sighed and pulled out some instant ramen, fixing it quickly, "I only got ramen so take it or leave it." She said, putting down three bowls. She then made herself some and sat down to eat. When they were done, Kagome got up and took down the tent, "We have to get out of here before anyone finds us." She said, putting the last of the steaks and poles into the bag and zipping it up. As they were about to leave, a chain of gunshots went off, probably an automatic weapon, "Stop…they aren't very far from here…we should find a shelter of some sort…like a cave where we can hide for maybe another day." Lance said, taking a quick glance at the surroundings.

Chaynes, who had been silent since the "disagreement" had finally spoke up, "What if they find us there?" He asked. Inuyasha growled and cracked his knuckles, "Then I'll rip their fucking throats out!" Chaynes laughed at this, "Bullshit, you'd get shot down faster than the commander we killed back there!" He said, laughing until he was out of breath. Inuyasha clenched his fist and punched Chaynes in the mouth. Chaynes' lip started bleeding, "YOU SON OF A BITCH!" He screamed as Inuyasha ducked and punched him in the stomach. "Ah shit, you are so pathetic!" Inuyasha said, knocking Chaynes to the ground. Kagome ran toward them and called out, "INUYASHA, CHAYNES, CUT IT OUT NOW!" They ignored her. Lance suddenly stepped back, "That…is not…good…" He said, continuing to step back. Suddenly, Chaynes' veins began to pop out of his arms and his eyes widened, "INUYASHA GET OUT OF THERE!" Screamed Lance, who was standing in front of Kagome. Chaynes stood up straight and flipped his bangs out of his eyes, revealing a youkai-like face. He had sharp fangs, his usual red eyes but with slitted pupils, and there were three black slashes on his forehead, outlined in blue. His long shirt he wore had ripped, revealing huge muscles. His Goth pants didn't rip, even though he had huge muscles on his leg too, just because they were so baggy. His fingernails were replaced with razor-sharp claws and his bangs grew wildly over his face, concealing him his face totally, only being seen fully when he flipped his hair back. "Chaynes! What the hell happened to you?" Kagome screamed, running towards him. Lance grabbed her by her arm and pulled her back, "Don't…he's…inhuman…he's not like Inuyasha or any other youkai or hanyou." He said quietly as Inuyasha and Chaynes began to fight. Inuyasha drew the Tetsusaiga and held it in front of him, "I'm gonna rip you to shreds!" He growled.

Chaynes cracked his neck and then looked up towards Inuyasha, "Die…" He growled, charging towards Inuyasha and slashing his side. A small cloud of blood sprayed out of the area Chaynes had struck, causing Inuyasha to quickly drop his blade and grab his side. But he didn't fall instead…he transformed! "That was fast!" Thought Kagome. Inuyasha suddenly lost control, diving at Chaynes. Lance pumped his shotgun and pointed it at the two, "I'm gonna have to use my shotgun, this is WAY too dangerous!" He said, pulling the trigger. Kagome screamed as Chaynes and Inuyasha dropped to the ground. She turned toward Lance and smacked him across the face, "WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?" She screamed. He rubbed his cheek and sighed, "Easy, that was an anesthetic shell, they'll be back to normal when they wake up."

Miroku, Sango and Shippo gathered up their things and started off again. The previous night came without any interruptions and Sango and brought a lot of food to go around. And surprisingly, not one problem with a commando or anything else had occurred. "We've been walking for days and not even a sign of Kagome or Inuyasha…" Miroku sighed, though continuing the walk. Sango still held Shippo, "We have to keep searching, Kagome wouldn't have given up on us." She said, continuing to walk also. Shippo's eyes suddenly widened and he finally spoke, "I can smell Kagome's scent!" He cried, sniffing the air again to be sure. Sango and Miroku stared at him, "Are you sure?" Miroku asked. He nodded excitedly and jumped up and down, "YES!" He screamed happily, almost falling out of Sango's arms.

They rushed as fast as they could toward wherever Shippo directed until finally, they came upon a camp, "It ends here!" He exclaimed. The other two quickly scanned the area and to their surprise, there was Kagome! Shippo jumped out of Sango's arms and took off, "KAGOME!" He screamed, running towards her. Miroku and Sango followed. Kagome looked up and gasped, "Shippo, Sango, Miroku? What are you all doing here?" "We were worried so we came looking for you." Sango said. Miroku glanced at her lecherously, "So I take it Inuyasha's not around?" He said, smiling. Sango saw the glance and smacked him, "Damn it Miroku, keep your lechery to yourself!" She growled, holding her hand up. Kagome looked at them, confused, "Um…anyway…Inuyasha and Chaynes are sleeping." She said, pointing behind her. "Who's Chaynes?" Shippo asked. "Oh…he's my guardian." Kagome answered. Lance stood up suddenly and walked toward them, waving, "Hey Kagome, who are they?" He asked. "This is Sango, the little one's Shippo, and this moron here is Miroku." Kagome said, introducing her friends. Miroku sighed, "Such harsh words…" Sango shook her head and then smiled at Lance, "And you are?" She asked him. "Lance Kellikan." He said, holding out his hand. The three shook his hand.

Later, they were sitting down by the fire, it was already getting dark. Inuyasha and Chaynes had not yet gotten up and the day was already over. Kagome stretched and yawned, "Today was kind of rough on me, with Inuyasha and Chaynes fighting and all." Lance nodded, "Yeah I know, speaking of which those dumbasses should be getting up right about now." He said. As if on cue, the two shot up in a cold sweat. "Have a nice nap, boys?" Kagome asked. "Yeah right!" Inuyasha grunted. Chaynes closed his eyes and sighed in annoyance, "I've had better." Sango looked him over, "Wow…that's Chaynes?" She asked. Kagome nodded silently. Shippo jumped on Chaynes' lap as Kagome gasped, "Shippo don't…" She said, not finishing. Shippo gave a bright smile and looked up, "Hi Chaynes, I'm Shippo!" To everyone's surprise, Chaynes didn't growl offensively or simply smack Shippo away! He actually returned the smile, "Hello there Shippo, you a friend of Kagome's?" Chaynes asked warmly. Shippo nodded happily, "Yep!" He said. Kagome looked to the others, "This is the Chaynes that almost single-handedly beat Inuyasha?" She whispered to the rest of them. They all shrugged, except for Inuyasha. He gave her a death glare and growled, "HEY WOMAN! He did not almost beat me!" Kagome sighed, "Inuyasha, just admit it, you've met your equal." She said, rolling her eyes.

Miroku giggled and whispered something to Sango. Inuyasha growled and beat Miroku in the head a few times, "WATCH IT MONK!" He hissed. Sango and Kagome smacked Inuyasha at the same time, "Leave Houshi-san alone Inuyasha!" She cried. Chaynes and Shippo ignored the others as Miroku was telling Shippo a story from when he was in school. The wide-eyed Shippo stared at him in amazement, "Wow…I'd could never take that much harassment from people, I'd cry." He said, astonished. Lance joined the two and nodded, "Chaynes and I both are use to people giving us shit, you just gotta be tough some times and ignore those bastards." Lance said. Shippo smiled gratefully and gave a quick nod, "Thank you Lance." He said. "Don't mention it, kid." Lance told him.

The next morning, they were woken up by men yelling to each other, not too far from their camp. Chaynes pulled out an AK-74U from a holster on his back and pulled back a switch, "Get up Lance, it's showtime…" He said quietly, just above a whisper. Lance slipped away from the sleeping Shippo and slid some military shotgun shells into his Riot Shotgun, "Gotcha." Lance said, pumping his weapon.

In about an hour, they were out into a large field that dipped inward into the ground. Chaynes pointed toward the dip in the ground and Lance nodded. This was a perfect hiding place for the enemy. Chaynes laid down in a prone position, Lance doing the same. "Safety off, enemy sighted." Chaynes whispered as he handed Lance his binoculars. Lance gave a devilish smile and turned toward Chaynes, "Open fire…" The two reached their index finger toward the trigger and pulled back. Lance pumped his gun after every shot while Chaynes held tight to the trigger, as the enemy in the dip met their deaths. They weren't expecting a thing, the bullets rained in on them as a soldier down in the dip screamed, "HINTERHALT!" Chaynes jumped over the edge and rolled down. Most of the men were dead, ripped to bits by the shower of bullets. Lance dropped down on his feet and pumped the smoking shotgun again, "They're making a run for it!" Shouted Lance. Chaynes rolled to the side and pulled a hand grenade from his belt, throwing it at the fleeing group of foreigners. The grenade blew up and sent bloody body parts spiraling through the air, a gory scene indeed! Chaynes laughed out loud, "BITE ME FUCKERS!" He screamed. Lance suddenly noticed something, the grenade only singed him and he had made it across the bottom of the large dip in the field. Lance gave a small smirk and pulled a shuriken out of his cloak, "You ain't going nowhere!" He said as he threw the Japanese throwing knife. The blade stuck into the man's throat, the heavy blood muffled his gasps for air as he both died from suffocation and blood loss.

Lance smiled in self-appreciation, "Heh, sweet…" When he turned around, Lance saw Chaynes investigating one of the bodies. "These guys are from Germany…" He said quietly. Lance looked down and closed his eyes in shame, "Our own people…fuck I can't believe we did this!" Chaynes shook his head and turned around, beginning to walk up the hill, "What other choice do we have" He said as he started up the side. "You're right…we made it our soul duty to protect Kagome and that's what we're gonna do!" Lance said, throwing his hand up in the air. Chaynes nodded and threw Lance an emblem from the body of a dead soldier, "Take it as proof of our victory." He said as he advanced up the hill. "Thanks." Lance answered.

Another hour passed and they were back at camp. Kagome jumped into the air and screamed, "CHAYNES, LANCE, YOU'RE SAFE!" The two sighed in unison and stood there, shaking their heads. "Come on Kagome, you know us we're never in that big of trouble." Lance said, laughing. Shippo ran to Chaynes and tugged at his big pant leg, "Chaynes, can you and Lance tell me more stories?" He asked innocently. "Of course little guy, go find yourself something to sit on and we'll tell you about our battle today." Chaynes said, giving a bright smile. On the other side of camp, Inuyasha and Kagome sat cross-legged in the grass, Miroku and Sango standing beside them, "If you ever saw that kid you'd think he's never even hurt someone before." Miroku said quietly. "Yeah, well he has you can tell when he fights." Inuyasha said, growling. Kagome put her hand on Inuyasha's shoulder, "Um…Inuyasha…I'm sorry for saying that stuff about you…" She said softly. Inuyasha looked down at the ground as he smelled something that upset him dearly, he didn't want to look but he knew what was happening. Kagome was crying.
