Chapter 4

Baths and Priestesses

 

 

“Hello and welcome to Tian's Bath and Spa!” The owner bowed greatly to Kagome and Inuyasha. She was a small Chinese woman that was impressively young for owning her own spa in Tokyo. “My name is Tian, and I'll be hosting you during your stay. Are you here for our famous Couple's Special?”

“That's right!” Inuyasha said excitedly, but Kagome placed her hand on his arm to calm him.

“Wait, Inuyasha,” She said. She knew sometimes places like these might be more erotic without warning. “Exactly what is the Couple's Special?”

“Oh! I'm glad you asked!” Tian exploded out with you rather heavy Chinese accent. “You have a choice to pick two of four spa sessions of back massage, our manicure and pedicure buffet, our steam room, or a soak in our famous baths. All for one low price! And because boys aren't allowed to bathe with the girls we put your bathes together between privacy screen so you can chat alright?” She smiled big.

“Well, Inuyasha how about we take the buffet and the baths. I know how much you want the food. And you know me and my baths!” She smiled and him and he agreed with a nod of his head.

“Great! You follow me now! We shall get your robes for buffet, okay?” Tian grinned and lead them to be fitted for their robes. After they changed they were lead to the buffet room. Inuyasha's eyes gazed in awe to see tables and tables of the finest Chinese dishes he'd thought were too beautiful to eat. But he knew that beauty wasn't going to stop him from inhaling as much as he could. Kagome looked up at him and found that he was like a little kid in a candy store. She chuckled and grabbed his hand pulling him towards a table.

Kagome only had a plate's full a few things. But Inuyasha had to try a plate's full each of EVERYTHING. His appetite amazed the Chinese workers in the spa; Tian approached him once again. “Oh! Big boy with big stomach! We like you! Let me see your hands!” To Kagome's surprised, Inuyasha did as she asked and let her take his claws in her hands. “Oh! Wow! You have nails like dragon claw! So well kept too! We will shine these up for you okay? My, my! You shall be King of Claws!” Kagome couldn't help but laugh at Tian's praises. Inuyasha only blushed at all the attention he's getting, he wasn't used to people being so nice to him.

“I'm afraid we don't know when Inuyasha and Kagome will be back. They left a few days ago,” Sango said. The group was settled in Kaede's hut around the glowing fire. Kikyo sat there with her hands on her knees quietly in thought before responding.

“I see,” She started. “So Inuyasha and my reincarnation are bonding? This may take longer than anticipated.”

“It is true, there's never knowing how long it'll take them to sort out there differences,” the monk stated.

“Well, then,” Kikyo stood. “When he does come back, tell Inuyasha that it's urgent that I speak with him.”

“We will,” Sango said. Kikyo wasted no time in leaving. Shippo rose up.

“I wonder what's so important about it,” He said. “Do you think it's got to do with Naraku?”

“I'm not sure, but whatever it is, it doesn't feel right. Kikyo barely talks to Inuyasha about their horrible past they've had. I sense something big is going to happen,” Miroku glanced down in thought at the glowing fire.

Kagome sighed in relief as she sank in the huge bath filled with herbs, salt and lots and lots of bubbles. She kept her towel wrapped around her just in case Inuyasha tries to peep at her. She heard him growl on the other side of the screen in the next bath.

“Man! Everything stinks of flowers in here. I can barely pick out my own scent.”

“Come on, it's not like anything bad is going to happen in here,” She said.

“It's not that, Kagome. It's just… ugh… never mind it's stupid.”

“No, please. Tell me I want to know,” She asked.

“What for?”

“Well, maybe if you get comfortable telling me things then maybe we'll bond a little faster. I know you aren't the most open person but can you try a little?”

He sighed and hesitated.

“Don't worry, Inuyasha. What ever you tell me is for my ears only. I won't think any less of you if you open up to me once in a while. In fact, I think it'll help me understand you a little better.”

`That's what I'm afraid of,' he thought. `But I gotta do it sometime.' Kagome heard him get out of the water. The screen door slid open and he stood their dripping wet and clutching onto the towel around his waist. He stepped in and closed the screen behind him.

“What? What are you doing?!” She looked up at him blushing ferociously. `Oh wow! Look at him he's a hunk! Wait! No! Bad Kagome! Look away! Don't look at him!' She turned away closing her eyes shut trying to stop all the rushing thoughts going through her head. Inuyasha stepped in the water and made his way to her.

“Kagome! Are you ok? Your heart rate is racing…” He said with a little worry in his voice. He grabbed her chin and turned her face to him. “Kagome open your eyes, I'm not going to do anything to you so calm down.” She peeked an eye open at him.

“You still have your towel on right?” She asked.

“Oi! Of course I do! You'd think I'd come in here naked? And I wouldn't have walked in if I didn't know that you still had your towel on! You really think I'm a pervert don't you!” He said.

“You were peeping at me were you? How else would you have known that I kept my towel on?” She shot back in anger.

“Uh..” He looked away with a little color on his cheeks. “Well, you know how I have good hearing. I knew because I didn't hear your towel drop on the ground.”

“Yeah right! You really think I'm that stupid to believe such a lie!” She glared at him suspiciously.

“Look that isn't important. You want to know the problem with the aromas clouding my nose right? It just upset me because I couldn't pick up your scent. It puts me all in a panic. Losing my sense of smell is like being blind. I am in a blur when my senses can't predict your exact location. You always end up getting in some sort of trouble and it gets me worried sick about you. So there are you happy? Feh.” He glanced away from her in his usually slumping.

“Inuyasha…” She held a soft gazed at him in sympathy. He was really sharing his feelings with her. It struck her as so unusual, was she sleeping and having a dream about him again? She knew it was real, but she couldn't help but question it. She reached out to touch his shoulder. A thundering knock on the bathroom's door startled both of them.

“Hello! This is Tian! Here to check on you!” A voice rang from the other side. Kagome began to panic. They'll be kicked out and fined if Inuyasha was caught in the same bath as her.

“Sit!” She squeaked. The poor hanyou was plunged under the water; his face luckily struck the miko's feet than slammed into the rough bath floor. Tian poked her head out of the crack of the door.

“Is everything alright?” She asked. Kagome chuckled nervously but forced a big smile.

“Everything's wonderful!” She answered. “I think we'll be done in about ten minutes.”

“Great. And how is our King of Claws doing?” She shouted over to the other side of the privacy screen.

“Actually he got up to find a bathroom. I told him that I'll meet him at the front desk.” Kagome announced. She felt Inuyasha floating up to the surface but not before she forced his head back down on her lap. He struggled against her abdomen making her blush a little.

“Nice, nice. I'll see you at the front then. You relax now!” Tian finally left her alone. Kagome waited until the spa owner's footsteps faded down the hall before releasing Inuyasha from her grasp. He shot out of the water gasping and coughing. Growling a little, he stood up knee deep in the water and lashed a finger at her.

“Oi! I thought I told you to warn me before you decide to drown me!” he shouted but his thoughts changed quickly when he noticed something was wrong. Kagome's face was redder than blood itself as she brought her hands to her mouth in shock. He looked down to see what she was staring at.

“Inuyasha!” She somehow couldn't tear her eyes from him. He'd lost his towel.

“Thank you very much! You enjoyed your stay, yes?” Tian asked as she handed Kagome the receipt. Kagome smiled big.

“In more ways than one,” She replied with a giggle. Inuyasha shot a threatening glare at her. As they turned away to exit the spa, Inuyasha harshly whispered to her.

“If you tell anyone about this, I'll make sure all your stuffed bunnies are decapitated.”

“Got it. What goes on in the baths, stays in the baths,” she confirmed.

Note: Hey! Sorry I haven't updated in a while I know you guys are looking forward to the progress of this story. I'm still trying to figure out how to put more humor in the story. Well review and tell me what you guys think I had a lot of fun writing this chapter even though it was kinda short. *^_^* If you have any request for future appearances of other characters let me know!
