Dirty Little Tricks

Miroku spent most of the morning trying to track down a kitsune but with no avail. Knowing Shippo, the monk predicted it would be rather difficult to locate him with his bags of tricks. After another hour of asking the villagers of any sight of the fugitive he turned over to visit old Kaede in her garden.

“Sister Kaede, have you seen Shippo?” he asked with his approach. The old woman looked up from her work.

“Why yes, I saw him leave earlier this morning. He said something about refilling up on some …Poooo-key? Well what ever it is he looked like he was setting off on a hunt.” She relpied.

“Pookey? Do you mean pocky?” he asked.

“Aye! That's the word. Children sure make up strange names for things these days. Do ye know what it is, monk?”

“Yes, it's Shippo's favorite snack that Kagome brings him. But Kagome's…” the monk paused for a moment then his face lit up in panic as the puzzle fell into place. He quickly turned on his heels and ran straight for Sango's hut screaming her name. Shippo has gone to look for Kagome all by himself, unprotected against anything that could snatch him up for a snack.

Rin bent down picking flowers as usual until a butterfly flew out a grassy null and became her prey. She laughed and chased after it until she bumped into a limb and fell back in the grass. Huh? She looked up and beheld a magnificent demon. He stood proudly with his hands on his hips and chuckled lightly at her. He wore brown fur and had black hair with a brown fluffy tail. Rin knew that any demon's tail would never by past Sesshoumaru's fluffiness by a long shot. Wait; was it a tail or just the lord's fashion? Rin hoped she would find out before she would leave this world. Maybe Jaken knows.

“What are you doing out here by yourself? This forest is dangerous. What's your name?” he asked as he knelt down to her. Rin scooted back a little to distance herself from this stranger. She wasn't scared though; Sesshoumaru would save her from anything that could warm her.

“Rin.” She plainly replied shyly.

“Hello, Rin. I'm Koga. Do you know someone named Kagome? She's a priestess.” He said. The familiarity excited the young girl to a hyper state.

“Kagome! Yes! She's my friend!” She shouted while happily raising her hands in the air. “She travels with Inuyasha!” The mere name of the hanyou almost sent flames of rage up Koga's spine but he kept his cool not wanting to frighten the poor child. He knew this knew had a connection with Kagome, the scent of Inuyasha's brother is all over her.

“Could you possibly consider in delivering a message to her? Tell her that Koga would like to meet her tonight at the big waterfall without Inuyasha there.” He flashed her a big cheesy smile to slap on a bit of friendliness. Rin eyed him suspiciously.

“Hmm. I don't know. I don't think I should given the fact that you're a complete stranger. And how do I know that I'm not sending Kagome to her doom if I tell her to meet you there without her protector.”

This girl was no dimwit, that's for sure.

“Come on, Rin. I'm not a bad guy!” he pleaded. “What can I do to show you that?” A big grin crept on the girl's face. Uh oh, what has he gotten himself into?

---------

Sesshoumaru paused at his steps at a familiar scent. He stared out into the dark concealing forest and placed a hand on his Tokijin. A gust of wind blasted out and into his direction. He drew up his sword to clash it against an opposing demonic fan. His cold eyes met with empty red pools home to a white, geisha face. He fended her off with a push. She glided backwards dodging a slash.

Kagura floated down and met the ground with her sandals. She folded up her weapon and retreated her battle stance.

“Lord Sesshoumaru, I didn't expect you to be here.” She said and greeted the man of her hopes.

The lord kept his sword by his side but did not answer her. He only stared her down in threat.

“Still doing Naraku's dirty work, I see. You've come to plead for my assistance once again?” he asked.

“I hate to disappoint you, I know better than to implore you twice. You're not someone to badger with. I've come to settle some business with Inuyasha's wench. She has a special invitation to Naraku's castle.” She explained.

“You mean, my castle. That's my father's heritance and I am set to claim it.” Even though his threat still hung in the air, he sheathed his sword. He settled judgment that this woman wouldn't think twice to challenge him.

“Why? That place was collecting dust for over two hundred years, why do you wish to claim it now? When you left it abandoned it was bound to be snatched up.” Kagura asked.

“I do not have to explain anything to you. Naraku is not worthy of such a residence. He's not worth a twig to hide from the rain.”

“Ah, so it's about glory. You've traveled the lands fighting the most powerful demons to earn your father's title of Supreme Conquest. You've felt ready to claim such a title?” The woman suddenly found herself pinned against a tree with the inu lord growling in her face.

“You know nothing of my father,” he said huskily with a hot breath against her lips. A chilling zipped up her spine and if she had her heart it would have been racing with adrenaline. She wasn't going to let him frighten her; she glared back into his red, angry eyes. Kagura had only dreamed of such closeness to him, his body was intimately pressed against hers.

“Are you not afraid of me, woman?” He growled.

“Kill me or kill Naraku. Either way I would have honor to being freed by your hands. I do not fear you. You'll be my savior, Sesshoumaru.” She said softly with her glare converting to a sadden gaze. She watched his reddened eyes return to there normal status and stare at her with bewilderment. Such flattery, she was the only other female besides Rin that freely displayed her admiration for him.

Kagura broke her gaze and turned her face away to show her neck in submission. Her pale skin was bared deliciously to his eyes a complete offering to her flesh.

With the miko flaunting off her heat scent around, this offering didn't seem to be such a bad idea to the lord. He growled lowly and bent his head down to graze her skin with his fangs and inhaled her scent deeply. She smelled like the wind, sakura, and…

He immediately tore away from her with a loud growl. She reeked of Naraku. He turned away to stare at the ground in thought.

“I will kill Naraku,” He stated. “If you come anywhere near Inuyasha and his wench I will kill you as well. Tell Naraku to have patience. We'll see him soon enough I promise him that.” And with that, he left her company to follow Rin's scent and the scent of the wolf that's with her.

---------

Koga sat unexcitedly in the field with a halo of flowers on his head and Rin dancing and singing around him.

“Oh Jaken-chan! Oh Jaken-chan!” she sang and paused for the wolf's reply. Koga sighed and finished the chorus in a low and off key tone.

“Why are you so green?”

Rin continued the song and dance around him.

“Oh Sesshoumaru-sama! Oh Sesshoumaru-sama!” she sang then paused again.

Why are you so fluffy?” Koga sang back and eyed a strange looking mushroom with eyes next to him. The thing was with this mushroom is not only it had eyes but a tail? He leaned in and sniffed it then poked the top with his claw. This seemed to make the strange plant wince and tremble in fear. “What the?” he leaned in closer to examine this specimen.

“FOX FIRE!” it screamed and a ball of blue flame ignited Koga's face.

“Ah!” Koga fell back rubbing his stinging eyes. After the sting numbed he glanced around and the mushroom disappeared. “Huh? Where did it go?”

--------

“Grr!” Kagome searched urgently through her bag. “I swore I had three boxes of pocky in here! Inuyasha, you didn't eat it did you? You know chocolate makes your stomach hurt.”

“I don't know what you're going on about. I didn't eat anything since yesterday,” he said while still laid on her bedroll on his side propping his head up with his elbow.

“Your dried potatoes are gone, too. Not to mention my pens I do my homework with,” she said flashing him a glare.

“Hey, I didn't take them! Don't look at me like I'm guilty!” he yelled out.

“Well who else could it have been?!” she said. “The little green toad?!”

“It could be! You never know what weird fetish he could have with your ink thingys!”

She raised an eyebrow. “Thingys?”

“Feh! Whatever they're called.”

“Pens.”

“Whatever.” He sat up and folded his arms in his sleeves. He was giving her his angry pout look that always seemed humorous to her. He's cute when he's angry.

“Hey, you do know you have those on your face right?” she crawled over to him.

“What?” he blushed a little when she ran a finger across his cheek gently.

“You're demon marks. The purple ones that appear when you transform.” She explained.

“What marks?” he asked. It never dawned on Kagome that Inuyasha had no idea what he looked like when he was transformed to his full youkai. She reached back in her bag and pulled out her compact mirror and opened it for him to examine himself.

“Why are they there now? I don't feel any different.” He thought out loud while grazing the jagged lines on his cheeks. “Stupid marks…”

“I kinda like them,” she giggled out.

“You do? But I thought you didn't like me being a demon,” he said.

“That's not true, I like you're demon side, too,” she said. “It's just I'd hope you can control yourself, when you're transformed. Maybe one day you will, if you train hard enough.”

“You really mean that?”

“Of course, I do.” Kagome smiled at him and touched the mark on his left cheek. Inuyasha let out a low playful growl and leaned close to her. His lips began to lightly brush hers.

PLINK!

“Ow! What the hell?!” Inuyasha winced and rubbed the top of his head. Kagome blinked in confusion of what just happened. Inuyasha looks down on the bedroll and found a rather large acorn sitting next to him.

PLINK!

“Hey!” the hanyou held his head and looked up in the direction of the acorn ammunition. “HUH?”

PLINK! PLINK! PLINK! PLINK! PLINK! PLINK! PLINK! PLINK! PLINK! PLINK! PLINK! PLINK! PLINK! PLINK! PLINK! PLINK! PLINK!

Hundreds of acorns where flung at their direction. “Get down, Kagome!” Inuyasha flung her blanket over her to dull the acorns' penetration while he got pelted constantly on his head.

“What the heck is going on?!” Kagome yelled over the commotion.

“Feh!” Inuyasha flexed a claw. “Just a little pest problem!” The hanyou leapt up in the tree's canopy towards his target.

Kagome then heard a familiar childish cry that made her heart ach like a mother's would.

“WWWAAAAAHHH!!”
