I am simply focused on this fanfiction at the moment [it is the most inspiring one at the moment] due to the fact I am simply thinking more along this plot line and made a promise to both SilentAngel and her fans to continue and finish this fanfiction.
I might occasionally update my other fanfictions but at the moment I want to finish this fanfiction. Thank you to those who have reviewed and rated. I look forward to more of your comments and ratings.

Chapter Two
_________________________________________
Left. Right. Left. Right.
The monotonous movement echoed in his mind, the bland orders to his long, silken-white clad legs causing pain with every step he took. Sesshoumaru walked silently behind the inu-tachi, reluctant to be affiliated to them in any way. Seeing his hanyou half-brother stiffly lead the way, his silver head held arrogantly high, caused the taiyoukai to mentally sneer. Where did the half-breed find the audacity to believe that he was superior to anything upon this earth?
"InuYasha, can we perhaps stop soon?" The priestess, Kagome, asked tiredly, her eyes drooping from fatigue.
The hanyou stopped his swift stride and turned to glare at her. His upper lip curling, he snapped, "No we can't. Since we have him," those golden eyes settled on Sesshoumaru spitefully, "with us and Naraku is after his high ass, we have to find a safe place to make a camp."
The monk stepped forward calmly, his violet eyes pinning the disgruntled boy. "InuYasha we have walked since last night. We have set many miles between the clearing and Naraku from ourselves." He reasoned dryly, his deep voice ringing with authority and wisdom.
InuYasha scowled at the priest, his disfavor of Miroku growing by the minute. Not only was the pervert taking everyone's side but his [which he thought was rather unfair since he was right about everything] but the lecher was now even questioning his leadership. Frowning, he saw Kagome begin to fall asleep where she stood, her eyes closing and her lips parting to allow a steady stream of breath to enter and exit from her soft, full lips. Growling, InuYasha glared at everyone, his patience thin. Constantly being harassed by his comrades annoyed him enough to want to make them walk further.
InuYasha was spiteful when he was angry and considering his state of fury, he was beyond trivial spiteful revenge. No. His glare settling on his silent half-brother, the hanyou growled deep in his throat. He wanted to continue to walk, even if it met reaching the edge of the earth, just so Sesshoumaru could not rest and heal. He knew the taiyoukai was at the brink of death due to his massive injuries and it pleased him to no bounds.
How many times had Sesshoumaru placed him in critical condition and left him to the mercy of the Kami?
His gaze turning to Kagome, the half-demon felt his heart twist at the poor state the girl was in. Her legs were trembling from fatigue, her body shivering from the cold and it did not help that she was actually close to fainting from exhaustion.
Sighing, he muttered, "We'll make camp here."
Kagome opened her eyes in shock, looking up at the hanyou. Smiling gratefully at him, she whispered,
"Arigatou."
InuYasha looked at her coldly, his red figure stiff and vibrating with noticeable irritation. His golden eyes resembling chipped ice, he said icily, "Whatever." Then turned on his bare heel and leapt into a nearby tree.
Her heart constricting at the aloof disregard of her and her attempt to breach him, Kagome sighed, pretending to not notice the group's curious-worried glances at her and the tree the hanyou currently hid in. He was still aggravated about her choice to help Sesshomaru obviously. Her lips parting to call for him, Kagome halted his name from spilling from them.
No. It wouldn't help to try and reason with InuYasha. He was far too stubborn and short-sighted to even consider listening to her arguments.
Shaking her head, Kagome looked behind her to see the tall, flawless form of the entire cause of her dilemma. Sesshoumaru stared at her blankly, his emotionless disposition causing her immediate discomfort. Sighing, she turned and began to walk to the demon Lord, trying to ignore the other pair of golden eyes watching her furiously. Stopping before the inu youkai, Kagome frowned at the sight of the blood soaked hoari. Blood patches were around his abdominal area and his arm, signifying where his injuries were.
Wincing when she noticed the large stains, she shuddered. How much blood had he lost? Her eyes switching to his perfect, angelic face, Kagome inwardly gasped at the grayish hue to the demon's once flawless skin. The grey hue was a marking of death. Worried, she stepped forward instantly, her hand reaching out to him cautiously.
"Sesshoumaru-sama, daijoubu?" The miko asked in a concerned voice.
His amber eyes locking on her sapphire eyes, he murmured, "Don't."
Blinking, her brow furrowing, the miko frowned and asked, "Don't what?"
Sesshoumaru glared at her icily, his pale, thin lips tightening around the corners. "Do not ever look at this Sesshoumaru like that." he said frostily, his eyes flashing with anger.
Kagome shuddered at the fury rising in the demonic prince before her, confused at his quick anger. Looking behind her to see Sango's and Miroku's cautious stares at both she and the demon Lord, Kagome exhaled to calm her nerves. She must not show her fear or be intimidated from Sesshoumaru. Raising her head high, the girl looked up into those sun orbs calmly and nodded.
"Gomen nasai, Sesshoumaru. I did not mean to offend you." she stated softly.
Sesshoumaru stared at her blankly, his eyes once again frigid waste lands, his face returning to its perfect stoic mask. He refused to accept her apology or even recognize her name. He considered telling the priestess she offended him with her mere presence but refrained from stating his thoughts. This girl, as reluctant as he was to admit it, was his only link to living. His pride was greatly injured at the fact his life was held in this tiny miko's hands, Sesshoumaru glanced to the side, intending to dismiss her coolly, as if ignoring her would rid of her presence entirely.
Kagome frowned at his cruel dismissal of her, watching his golden eyes slid to the sky, his impassive face calm. Growing impatient and angry at once [a dangerous combination for the mortal girl], the miko calmed herself.
"Do you need help to sit, Sesshoumaru-sama?"
Sesshoumaru had already turned to take his place under a tree on the outskirts of the growing camp. He had no need to be near these inferior miscreants. Glaring at the girl coolly from the corner of his golden eye, he turned his head again and continued to walk slowly, elegantly towards his chosen camp area.
"That will not be necessary, ningen. This Sesshoumaru can take care of himself." He stated dryly.
InuYasha snorted at that loudly. He had been listening and watching the entire conversation, if it could be called that, between Kagome and the Ice Prince. Watching Kagome's earnest tries to aid his brother angered him more then seeing her hand held by Kouga. Noticing Sesshoumaru glaring at him, his golden eyes piercing the shadows of InuYasha's tree, the hanyou glared at him back and settled for lounging comfortably against the tree trunk, his eyes never straying from his brother.
Kagome gave InuYasha an annoyed glance. Why did he even have to be able to talk? Seeing Sesshoumaru turn from the half-breed and continue his stride, she watched him settle at a tree on the outskirts of the camp. Frowning, she came to the conclusion Sesshoumaru was not very social. Watching the demon Lord settle himself on the ground, his back against the tree, she watched him stare up at the stars through the tree's leaves, intent on ignoring her, the inu-tachi and namely InuYasha.
Sensing Miroku beside her, Kagome looked into his thoughtful violet eyes, silently asking for help. The houshi looked down at the small miko in obvious sympathy. He knew Kagome's pure spirit and kind ways had forced her to aid Sesshoumaru despite the repercussions of doing so. Exhaling, the monk shook his black head side to side gently, his eyes closing tiredly.
"Do you think it wise, Kagome-sama, to help Sesshomaru?" He asked slowly, his eyes opening again to look directly into her confused sapphire orbs.
Kagome sighed in exasperation, her shoulders slumping forward. "I really do not know, Miroku. I know he hasn't been the best to InuYasha and myself in the past but he did help us with getting the last shikon kakera. Besides, I am a miko, ne? It is my top priority to help those in need." She whispered while scanning the areas both InuYasha and Sesshoumaru occupied.
Miroku nodded in agreement. He already had known this and Kagome's reasons of course, considering he had pondered the priestess and her actions during the eight hour walk. His firm lips turning downwards into a small frown, the houshi sighed.
"Hai, it is understandable Kagome-sama. But still, do you think it is intelligent to host InuYasha and Sesshomaru less then ten feet away?" The priest whispered as he remembered that the two males in question had the utmost hearing abilities.
The miko glanced at the young man with obvious exhaustion. "Trust me, Miroku that has been on my mind all day." She muttered as she glared at the two brothers.
The houshi shrugged as he leaned on his Shakujou. "I think perhaps for your better judgment, Kagome, that you do not let either of them even look at each other. Unless you wish to be digging a grave by the end of the night." The hentai cautioned wisely.
Kagome nodded. "Arigatou, Miroku-sama. I have a concern that perhaps you will be able to help me with." Seeing Miroku's accepting nod, she asked, "How do I heal a full blooded demon? It is different healing a half-breed and human but I do not know about a youkai."
Miroku rubbed his chin thoughtfully, glancing at Sesshoumaru. Shrugging his shoulders, he sighed. "I do not know, Kagome-sama. Perhaps you should ask Sango. She would know better then I." He said before he left to sit upon a solitary rock in the middle of the camp.
Watching Miroku sit upon the rock, his knees crossed over the other, his eyes closed in serenity, she frowned. If only she could block out the world and its pressing concerns so easily. Seeing Sango sit beside Miroku to clean her Hiraikotsu, Kagome considered Miroku's advice and decided he was right. She was in fact a slayer of demons and had the cat demon, Kirara, for a pet who she healed herself. Stepping towards her only female friend, not including Kirara, the miko watched Sango turn her pretty face towards her and lend her a comforting smile.
"Konochi wa, Kagome-chan. What ails you?" The taijya asked gently.
Kagome kneeled beside the girl and groaned. "Sango, how do I heal a youkai? I do not know how too exactly. I have only dealt with you guys and InuYasha."
Sango frowned slightly, pondering the miko's question. "I believe it is very different from healing a human. Considering the extent of Sesshoumaru's wounds, you must dress them of course but give him blood." she advised slowly.
Kagome paled. "Blood? Why blood?" she demanded.
Sango looked at the small girl. "Humans need blood at times too, Kagome-chan, as you know. However, Sesshoumaru will need a certain type of blood to speed up his youki to defeat the foreign poison and re-grow the muscle and bone in his arms. Humans can not re-grow limbs but powerful youkai such as Sesshoumaru-sama can." The older girl stated.
Kagome looked behind her shoulder at the lone taiyoukai. She had not thought healing a taiyoukai would be so difficult. Turning her attention to Sango, she bit her bottom lip nervously.
"What type of blood?"
Sango suddenly grew uncomfortable. "You will need the blood of a relative, Kagome-chan. And considering Sesshoumaru only has one living family member we know of..."
Kagome paled at the slayer's hint to him. Turning to stare at a nearby tree, she looked up into the branches to see InuYasha sleeping in its bark limbs contently, his handsome face seemingly innocent in slumber. Her stomach twisting, the miko looked at the nodding Sango.
"InuYasha?!" she whispered in disbelief.
Sango nodded hesitantly. "Hai. Gomen nasai, Kagome."
Kagome winced. How ironic that Sesshoumaru found himself relying on the two creatures he hated the most in the world for his survival; a ningen and InuYasha. Standing up shakily, Kagome shook her head. He would never agree. InuYasha was secretly waiting for Kagome to slip up and somehow manage have the demon Lord die. He would never willingly agree to give his own blood to save Sesshoumaru.
'Neither would Sesshoumaru agree to have InuYasha's 'tainted' blood inside of him even if it meant his only means to survival.'
Aghast at the improbable event of both brothers' successively co-existing together in the camp, much less aiding each other, Kagome moaned and sat on the ground dejectedly.
Glancing at the concerned Sango, she muttered, "He's as good as dead."
Sango sighed. "Kagome, you must do all you can for Sesshoumaru right now. You can speak to InuYasha tomorrow. Sesshoumaru might not even need the blood if you heal him quickly and efficiently." She said, trying to soothe the girl.
Nodding, Kagome stood. She would do all she could for Sesshoumaru. She would over-look his less then shining personality and InuYasha's disapproval. She would view this as essential life experience. If she was to make youkai allies and they were to be injured, she would need to know how to heal them. Basically, she would treat Sesshoumaru as her personal youkai guinea pig. Placating her insecurities and worries, the miko thanked the taijya softly and headed towards the lone white figure.
Hesitating a meter before Sesshoumaru's outstretched foot; she stared at the beautiful specimen in awe. The moonlight caught his heavenly beauty perfectly. His moonlight-kissed silver strands hung around his pale face, his amber eyes glowing in the night as a keen-eyed hawk's. Watching those fascinating amber gems turn and fix themselves on her, Kagome fidgeted underneath the direct, cool stare of the taiyoukai.
Sesshomaru stared at the ningen blankly, mentally scowling at her presence. What did she want now? If she wished to keep her throat, she would be wise to leave him to repair naturally from his youkai abilities. Glancing at her, his scrutinized her. Her short green and white kimono was highly undignified, revealing her long, shapely legs above mid-thigh, hovering just beneath her buttocks.
Her small, white top hugged her slender form, leaving little to the imagination. Her unbound hair, thick and wavy, hung to her small waist freely, the onyx tresses dancing occasionally in the breeze. Overall, the little human did not appear able to do anything other then go on her knees according to her apparel.
Licking her lips nervously, Kagome coughed as she began to blush under the demon's intent gaze. She could only help but wonder why he stared at her so coldly, his eyes frozen pools of amber. Trying to catch his gaze, Kagome felt her nerve slipping. She had been foolish to consider helping Sesshoumaru, she suddenly realized.
Feeling awkward knowing she was no longer confident in her choice to heal this dangerous creature, Kagome coughed to gain his attention.
"Sesshoumaru-sama?" she said his name timidly.
His eyes narrowing coldly, Sesshomaru glared at the miko. "What do you want, ningen?" he demanded coolly.
Shouldering her heavy knapsack on her slender shoulder, she chewed the inside of her cheek angrily. Looking down into his blank, beautiful face, the miko felt the urge to slap him on the cheek to get some sort of reaction other then the slight scowl on his lips and narrowing of his eyes from that flawless mask.
Frowning at the demon, Kagome dropped her yellow bag on the ground and began taking things out. Trying to ignore Sesshoumaru's rude demand of her presence, she continued to try and appear oblivious to his glare and icy aura.
Growing impatient as she noticed what she was searching for in her ridiculously large bag was proving to be a tedious task, she began to question herself and her packing abilities. Where was it? She was sure she had placed it in here after her Oka-saan had given it to her, fresh and fully stocked.
Feeling her hand slide on a smooth, metal surface, Kagome smiled triumphantly to herself and dug out the small, white box. Smiling as she gripped the white kit with the red cross on its face, Kagome walked slowly towards the youkai. Seeing his glare intensify as she neared his injured arm, she set herself onto the ground on her knees, staring into his eyes without blinking. They said to stare a dog in the eyes.
Currently, Kagome questioned the intelligence of the person who had said to do so. Had they ever met an inu youkai?
"Konochi wa, Sesshomaru-sama." She managed to say after pushing aside her fear.
Sesshoumaru stared at the girl emotionlessly. "Ningen." He addressed her dryly.
Her eyes instantly flashing dangerously, Kagome repressed the urge to tell the arrogant Lord just what her name was. She knew the taiyoukai had heard her name numerous times. It was clear to her because of her ningen heritage, he would try and dismiss and disgrace her by using what he perceived as an inferior ancestry by addressing her by it.
Breathing in, Kagome attempted to remain calm and pleasant but already was finding it hard. It seemed Sesshoumaru would not be a pleasant patient, she decided with a scowl.
'Be brave.' she thought to herself.
Summoning all her courage, Kagome placed the small kit on the ground. Opening it, she winced when the hinges made a small squeak. Glancing up to see the demon's aloof demeanor, she began to remove her utensils.
"Sesshoumaru?" she finally said his name while she removed some bandaging gauze.
Giving the simple looking priestess a cool glare, he raised a silver brow. "Hai, what do you want human?" He questioned silkily, wishing to remove her presence from himself quickly.
Kagome reluctantly met those beautiful amber eyes. "Can I please remove your hoari? I am not a pervert but I do need to see if you have any other injuries. Besides your shirt will get in the way of me trying to heal your arm..."
Sesshomaru felt his disgust over-ride his self-perseverance. Not only did he need this ningen miko's aid, but now he had to allow her grimy, dirty ningen hands touch him. Scowling, Sesshomaru nodded. "Agreed, wench." he said reluctantly as he allowed her little hands grasp the edges of his shirt on his chest.
Leaning forward to make the task of undressing him easier [that way this annoying ningen could finish her medical priorities and leave him alone], he felt the light, silken cloth be pulled up and over his head. Flicking his slim neck, he shook his head until his knee-length hair cushioned his back against the bark of the tree so he may lie against it comfortably.
Holding the shirt in her hands loosely, Kagome felt her mouth drop open in shock. Perfection. It was the only word that could come to her stunned mind. Never had she seen a more beautiful chest in her entire life time and she already doubted anyone else had. Alabaster skin shown majestically as the smooth, creamy skin had not one flaw stretched atop of a chiseled torso. His torso was lean and muscled, his body giving off the aura of smooth, elegant power. His chest was sleek and muscled, not overly but enough to make a woman's mind go blank. The pecks then rippled into a well defined and smooth six pack.
Blinking, Kagome noticed Sesshoumaru's frosty face as he glared at her with cold, arrogant amber eyes. Her face heating up, Kagome mentally berated herself for openly staring.
'He must think me a hentai! I am not better than Miroku!' she thought in horror.
Blushing a red that would put a tomato to shame, Kagome hurriedly turned to her medical supplies and tried to determine which ones to use first.
"What are those, miko?" the youkai's deep, velvet voice demanded as she took out a sharp pair of scissors, a needle and a ball of hair fine thread.
Smiling, Kagome gave a cheerful grin at the stoic Lord. Hoping to placate him with the facial movement [which seemingly didn't work since he evidently found smiling a trivial task]; she tried to think of an excuse for her alien supplies.
"These are from my...village. This is what we use to heal wounds."
Sesshoumaru eyed the odd devices with distaste. He did not trust these foreign contraptions, much less the ningen holding them so calmly. Kagome tried to ignore Sesshoumaru's glare and surveyed his condition. A large gash two inches deep ran from his collar bone down to his waist, the blood dried and crusting over the wound. The dried blood held a mixture of dirt and green venom. Kagome became alarmed when she noticed the green poison was actually still deteriorating the youkai's flesh.
'How could he had gone for so long under these conditions?' she asked herself in bewilderment.
Uneasy at the obvious strength and determination of the taiyoukai, the priestess turned her attention to the two largest injuries to his person; his abdomen and arm. Moving first to his arm, Kagome felt her stomach turn at the horrific state it was in. The humerus bone had been cleanly broken and now protruded from the pale flesh, breaking the skin and leaving it to hang around it.
The bone was a yellow-white, the blood had long ago dried on it's jagged edges. The skin was torn, hanging around the bone. Green acid had dried outside of the injury yet Kagome could hear the hissing, popping sound of the acidic poison devouring the demon's arm from the inside.
Swallowing, she could only stare at the arm helplessly. Not only was the arm being deteriorated by poison, but by the angle the arm was turned and how much of the bone was sticking out of the useless limb, Kagome could predict if Sesshoumaru hadn't been a youkai, he would of had to have his arm removed or die.
'This is going to be hard.'
Sesshoumaru glanced from the corner of his eye and noticed the whitish hue girl's skin had taken. His upper lip almost curling into a sneer. He refused to outwardly display anything besides stoic blankness and settled for mentally mocking her.
'Weak ningen. I have suffered much worse.' He thought and turned his attention back to the night sky.
Knowing the extent of the damage to Sesshoumaru's body, Kagome concluded she would need help from the taijya. "Sango...can you come here?" Kagome called out as she readied to repair as much as she could.
The taijya heard the girl's call and instantly rose from the fire, leaving Kirara and Shippou to sleep beside each other innocently. Walking across the wet grass, she appeared beside Kagome and looked down at the taiyoukai's grievous wound and winced. Kneeling on the ground beside the miko, she offered silent support to the girl.
"What can I help you with, Kagome-chan?" Sango asked calmly.
Smiling at Sango thankfully, Kagome gently picked up the arm and brought it towards them. Feeling Sesshoumaru twitch under her touch, the miko glanced at the demon. She could not tell if it was due to pain or her touch but she felt she had to assure and warn her reluctant patient of the impending surgery.
"Sesshoumaru, gomen ne. But I am unable to do anything about the pain I am going to cause you...” Kagome whispered apologetically.
Sesshoumaru ignored the ningen and continued to appear almost bored. "This Sesshoumaru is stronger than any ningen and hanyou. Whatever you do, ningen, will not harm me." The taiyoukai stated as he continued staring up into the sky, his serene, angelic features stony in the little light the moon and the small lantern provided.
Noticing Sango's frown, Kagome caught the taijya's attention. "I need you to hold his arm and let me twist the bone back in." Kagome ordered softly.
Her eyes narrowing, Sango nodded her head. "Hai, Kagome-chan."
Noticing the Taijya held his arm with a surprisingly strong grip for a ningen, Sesshoumaru looked from the corner of his eye as Kagome grasped his arm tightly. Turning to Sesshoumaru, Kagome gave soft, comforting smile.
"I promise you, Sesshoumaru-sama, all will be fine." she said in a soothing tone.
His eyes narrowing, Sesshoumaru turned his head and continued glaring at the sky. He did not need comfort from a ningen onna. Staring at a particularly bright star in the velvet black abyss above him, Sesshoumaru inwardly winced when the miko's small hands began to grip his arm tighter, the strength in the small appendages surprising him. His teeth clenching, his sharp fangs digging into his bottom lip, Sesshoumaru growled deep in his throat as she twisted his abused arm mercilessly in her grasp.
Kagome tried to ignore the vicious growls she heard from the taiyoukai's chest and felt the sweat begin to dot her forehead as she battled to the stubborn limb to try and place the bone back into its proper place inside of it.
Crack.
His eyes widened a fraction when he felt the indescribable pain of his bone being forced back into his arm. Panting, kneeling beside Sesshoumaru, Kagome smiled triumphantly as she witnessed the bone sliding back inside of Sesshoumaru's arm. InuYasha watched from the other side of the camp and winced as he heard the bone pop back into place. Curious to how Sesshoumaru was dealing with what he assumed was a great amount of pain, the hanyou scowled.
His brother's cold, emotionless face met his hopeful gaze, destroying the anticipation of seeing some sort of emotion rise out of the unfeeling taiyoukai.
'He's like a stone. Never changing.' InuYasha thought to himself angrily.
Miroku closed his eyes and inhaled and exhaled slowly. He could not concentrate on his ki. Sesshoumaru's strong youki was disrupting his spiritual powers. Cracking open an eye, he watched as Kagome struggled with the Lord's arm.
Settling back onto her bottom on the wet ground, Kagome quickly looked up at Sesshoumaru and was shocked to see his cool indifference. Frowning, she could not help but be annoyed and slightly admire the taiyoukai.
'He is hiding it. I know he is.'
Sango sighed. "Is that all you needed, Kagome-chan?" She questioned the already exhausted miko.
Nodding, Kagome smiled. "Domo arigatou, Sango-chan. I can take it from here." She gave a small bow of her head to thank her friend.
The taijya nodded then casting a curious glance at the silent youkai, she rose and returned to her spot beside Miroku. Removing a large needle, Kagome stuck the tip into the swollen arm. Sesshoumaru felt the tiny prick and glanced to see a long, metal tube stuck in his arm. Curious, he voiced his question.
"What is that for, miko?"
Kagome looked up to see those amber eyes intently surveying the needle. Adding a large bottle-like attachment to the end, she began to draw blood and poison into the long plastic container.
"It is a needle. I am drawing out any poison left in your arm into here." She explained.
Sesshoumaru watched the mixture of his blood and the bright green liquid fill the odd container four times. Finally when the miko was only drawing blood, he felt her wipe the place she had placed the 'needle' with a stinging liquid. Hissing, he glared at her. Kagome met his angry gaze and gasped.
"Gomen nasai! That was a disinfectant... to make sure your arm doesn't become worse." The miko said quickly.
Angry more at himself for displaying anything other then stoic impassiveness, Sesshoumaru averted his attention to a small, insignificant firefly that currently danced above the grass, its body bright and shinning in the dark. Clenching her jaw, Kagome grasped the swollen, bleeding arm in her small hands again.
"Gomen nasai, Sesshoumaru. But I have to do this. I need to align the arm to the other bones and then I will place it into a cast to keep it there so it may heal." She gritted through clenched teeth.
Ignoring her, Sesshoumaru nodded stiffly and closed his eyes. Rubbing her thumb up and down the arm and pressing softly, Kagome found the bone was almost centered to the other. Squeezing her eyes shut, Kagome pushed the arm from the side, sliding the bone to align with the other. Sesshoumaru's jaw clenched as he ignored the aching pain flaring up his arm throughout his body.
Feeling the bone scrape against the other, Kagome sighed in relief.
"Stay right here, Sesshoumaru-sama. I'll be right back." She assured the silent, stoic Lord.
Glaring at her stoically, Sesshoumaru watched the oddly dressed miko hurry into the forest. Left to his own thoughts, he could not help but feel curious about the miko. Why had she defied his brother to heal him? She was his bitch; she had blatantly disobeyed him publicly. Turning his attention to the sleeping hanyou, Sesshoumaru felt disgust enter his being for the boy.
Yet again, InuYasha was weak. It was not a surprise to the demon Lord that he would be ruled by the weak ningen as he had been by the miko's incarnate fifty years ago. A few minutes later, Kagome appeared with two sturdy sticks. Sitting beside the quiet taiyoukai, she placed the sticks on either side of his arm.
Using a longed, curved piece of bark and placing it underneath of the arm gently, she secured it by wrapping gauze around the sticks and bark tightly, fastening the arm in place. Tying a tight, strong knot at the bottom of the bandaged arm to hold the home-made cast in place, Kagome tied a flimsy, white scarf around Sesshoumaru bare right shoulder to the left to help support the arm, making a strong sling.
"There!" The girl exclaimed, her pride evident in her bright smile.
Sesshoumaru nodded, silently impressed with the miko's healing practices.
"Now for your other wounds. Mainly, your abdominal one." Kagome sighed.
Taking out some Hydro Peroxide, Kagome dabbed the bottle on some cotton balls. "This will sting like it did earlier, Sesshoumaru." She warned before she began to wipe the gashes with the drenched cotton balls.
Sesshoumaru looked at Kagome from the corner of his eye. Why was this girl so tender and sympathetic towards him? Did she not know that he did not care for her pity? Watching her full lips twitch into a determined frown, he watched as her tiny, white teeth began to gnaw the corner of her bottom lip.
This priestess was an idiot. She was too naïve and kind for her own good. Had it not crossed her mind that after she healed him he could easily decapitate her and kill her comrades? Seeing the innocence in the bright blue eyes, Sesshoumaru inwardly snorted.
No, this foolish human girl would truly try and believe he was not what he appeared to be. Sesshoumaru could not help but dislike the girl for her virtuous view of the world and its inhabitants. He had never been so naïve to the cruelty of life. How could a simple human remain untouched by the devastation and sadistic callousness of the world?
Intrigued by this enigmatic creature, Sesshoumaru quickly severed his curiosity. He dare not question or investigate this menial abomination. His eyes narrowing, his lips tightening, Sesshoumaru refused to even acknowledge the ningen. Dabbing the anti-infectant against the wounds, Kagome winced.
How could he remain so quiet and stoic during all of this?
'I would be crying like a baby.' She thought as she snuck a glance at the youkai's cool face.
Done with the Hydro Peroxide, Kagome took out her water bottle full of clean water. Popping the top, she flushed out the wounds, trying to ignore the waterfall of blood pouring forth from the major wound on his chest. Done, Kagome placed it back on the ground near her. Putting the thread through her needle, Kagome quickly and deftly started to sew up the torn flesh together. Silence emanated between the two. Looking up from her work, Kagome smiled softly as she noticed Sesshoumaru continued to gaze in front of him.
'He is so strong but stubborn just like InuYasha. They are so alike yet so different. One is as expressive as the sky that does not fear letting out its rage as storms. The other as cool as the coldest regions atop of the icy mountain tops. It is odd that these two can be so alike yet so different.
'
Sighing, Kagome quickly tied a knot at the thread and cut the needle off. "There!" She sighed, smiling still.
Pushing a stray bunch of hair behind her small ear, the girl sat on the ground and admired her handy-work. His abdomen and chest were disinfected, sewn and properly bandaged. When she returned to the future, perhaps she would place in an application to a university for medicine.
"I think that will do for now." The miko said more to herself then to the demon.
Nodding, Sesshoumaru looked at the girl frostily.
Trying to ignore him and his cool aura, Kagome continued. "I need you to not move the arm at all for the next week, Sesshoumaru. With your youkai healing abilities, you'll be out of that thing in two weeks!"
Sesshoumaru visibly stiffened, alarming Kagome. Watching his eyes narrow, she knew the clocks and screws were working inside of his swift mind. The taiyoukai looked at the human icily, angry at the news of the healing time.
Two weeks?
Sesshoumaru eyes slanted, becoming two angry golden slits in his pale face. Two weeks he would have to be with this ningen and his hanyou abomination of a brother? Pushing down the urge to sigh, he nodded stiffly much to Kagome's relief. Smiling, Kagome began to pack her medical supplies and continued to diagnose Sesshoumaru.
"I will have to change your bandages twice a day, Sesshoumaru-sama. Gomen nasai, but because of the poison used it would be better to keep the wounds clean and flushed." Kagome explained calmly.
Standing up, her kit held in one hand, Kagome stared down at the demon Lord. Noticing he completely disregarded her, treating her as an invisible spirit, the miko frowned. Where was the gratitude?
"Your welcome." She said, her brow furrowing in annoyance.
Sesshoumaru continued to look ahead of him, plotting Naraku's demise, ignoring the girl's raving and chatter. She was an annoying, talkative being and he at times wished to cut her tongue out of her small head. Trying to block out her prattling, he continued to devise of plans of different types of decapitation, disembodiment and a few other gruesome delights he would do to the dark half-breed Naraku. He would make the hanyou rue the day he had attempted to destroy this Sesshoumaru.
Sighing, the miko shook her head. She had been foolish to dare hope that Sesshoumaru would be grateful for her aid. Turning on her heel, the girl dragged herself from the taiyoukai, exhausted. Kagome tried to disregard Sango's angry stare at Sesshoumaru and unrolled her sleeping bag out. Placing her bed near the fire, she could not help but worry for Sesshoumaru. She knew he wouldn't accept a blanket or anything from her of any sort, so to calm her conscience, she turned the sleeping bag across the fire so she was facing him.
This way, if guilt made her awaken from her slumber, she would be able to check on the demon Lord without having to disturb everyone else. Hearing Miroku whisper to Sango some endearments before they went to bed, she felt her heart lurch. Looking up at the tree near her where InuYasha slept, Kagome felt a familiar longing hit her tender heart.
How she yearned to be loved and cherished. InuYasha offered her protection and friendship yet he could never completely love her as Miroku and Sango did one another. Forcing away any tears that entered her eyes, the miko closed her eyes and sighed. She needed to sleep. She had lots of homework tomorrow, a test next week, Sesshoumaru to heal, InuYasha to placate and the group to cook for. For an eighteen year old girl stuck in the future, she suddenly felt very old and lonely.
Frowning, Kagome looked at the silent demon. 'He is lonely too. He is so cold, distant and indifferent. What has caused him to be like this?'
Viewing him as he was, without his intimidating armor, hovering above her with Tokijin ready to swipe, Kagome could freely appreciate his beauty. She had never truly looked at Sesshoumaru. He had always been the guy InuYasha hated, the powerful demon about to kill her and InuYasha or that random guy InuYasha fought with. Yet, underneath the moonlight, undressed and alone sitting bellow the tree, Kagome realized just how perfect Sesshoumaru was.
From his flawless skin, lean-slender body, amber eyes and knee-length white-silver hair framing his angelic face with his high cheek bones, long, elegant nose, natural red eye shadow, graceful maroon-stripes on his cheeks and the slim blue crescent moon on his smooth forehead. Kagome assumed that if angels truly did live, they would look very much alike to Sesshoumaru. Perhaps not even as beautiful as the taiyoukai. Strength, power, status and intelligence. He seemingly had it all. Everything InuYasha craved for, this older brother had.
But at what cost?
Her mind hurting, Kagome sighed. She was dwelling too much on Sesshoumaru. He was only a patient. He would be gone in two weeks time and more then likely appear again only to decapitate, taunt and annoy InuYasha. He wouldn't even spare her a glance except if she shot an arrow at him. Then she would have his undivided attention for five seconds until she died by his claw or ken.
'How lovely of a repayment.' she thought sardonically.
Shaking her head, she forced her eyes closed and tried to muster some pleasant thoughts for her to dream about. Finally, half an hour later, Kagome finally found peace in a dream of passing her final exams and entering university for medical science.

Chapter Two
_________________________________________
Left. Right. Left.
