The black Mitsubishi came to an abrupt stop in the curved driveway of an elegant mansion. It was the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tategami, and where InuYasha was sure that he was going to get his ass chewed out… but no matter, he had to at least try and prepare his parents for their meeting of his `new girlfriend.'
InuYasha inhaled deeply, finally finding the courage to burst through the front doors. “Mom? Dad? You home!?” He called.
A lovely motherly woman came running up to her son and clung to his shoulders. “InuYasha honey! I missed so much! It's so nice to see you!”
InuYasha laughed, “Mom give it a rest will ya? Drop the lovey dovey shit…”
The woman frowned and quivered her bottom lip a little before InuYasha embraced her tightly and smiled. “Aw… I'm just kidding mom. It's great to see you too.”
“InuYasha, you know better than to curse when a lady is present!” Scolded a deep booming voice from the other side of the room. InuYasha looked up and gave his father a smirk.
“Well well, look it here. You haven't died yet old man?”
The large intimidating man glared his son down before a giant grin spread across his gorgeous face. “HAHA! It seems you've gotten better at those comebacks!”
“Thanks dad, I learn from the best…”
“Indeed you do! You're old man is a proffe-”
“Miroku has even taught me some especially for you.” InuYasha smirked, eying his dumbfounded father.
The man scratched his head, having been beaten by his own son. “Shit…”
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
InuYasha's father, Sugimi, was a tall and rather daunting human being; he had long silver hair and deep amber eyes that would blend perfectly with his stern and powerful features. The perfect company man, Was what his employees would refer to him as and he was indeed, perfect for the job. And even though he seemed quite menacing, he was gentle at the heart. His son and wife were always number one on his list; dropping whatever he was doing at the time to run out and take them to the park if InuYasha was acting grumpy or sneak home early to have a little `one on one' quality time with his lovely wife. Yes, Sugimi was the ideal husband and father in every way.
Izayoi was InuYasha's mother; with long black hair as dazzling as the midnight stars and beautiful sunlit skin as soft as the cherry blossoms in the spring. InuYasha remembered spending a lot of time with his mom when his dad was away, they baked and played in the pool and really, did everything a mother would do with her precious little boy. Being an only child rocked! Not once did he ever wish to have another little sibling, though the stories about how his second grade friends beat up on their little brothers and sisters was extremely interesting.
InuYasha now sat in the living room on a fluffy white sofa across from his parents. He swallowed hard, waiting for his father to get cozy before blurting out what had been haunting his mind for the last five minutes. “I'm not getting married to Kikyo!” He stated quickly, watching as his father spit out the hot tea he was in the middle of sipping.
Izayoi looked surprisingly relieved, but drew back her expression when Sugimi started sputtering angrily. “Y-you what!? What do you mean you a-aren't marrying her!? Of c-course you are! You already proposed to h-er!”
“No I didn't! She forced the issue on me! And besides, I've sorta met someone…” InuYasha trailed off, taking a long agitated sip from his cup.
Izayoi clapped her small hands together and squealed. “Oh honey! That's wonderful! What's her name!? What's she like!? Is she pretty!?”
InuYasha grinned widely, leaning foreword to rest his elbows on his knees. “Her name is Kagome, she's an amazing girl… and oh gods, she's fucking hot!”
Sugimi waved a hand in front of his wife's face to silence her giggles and glared daggers into his now very silent son. “InuYasha Tategami… you had better be pulling my leg or I swear to the gods you are going to get it.”
InuYasha straightened up and threw a glare back at his father. “I'm not lying to you dad. I really did meet an amazing girl… and I'd like you to meet her before you shoot me down.”
Sugimi relaxed a little but kept a stern expression firmly in tact. This usually meant that there was no way in hell InuYasha was going win… but Kagome was worth fighting for.
Izayoi placed a hand on her husband's thigh and gave him a pleading smile. “Dear… please. Let's just give this Kagome a chance. After all, InuYasha is old enough to make his own decisions now. And you do owe him at least this much… it was your idea for him to marry that horrid woman in the first place.”
Sugimi frowned and rubbed his temples. He hated it when Izayoi took her son's side… it always meant that InuYasha would get what he wanted… damn it all. “Fine, but don't expect me to be polite.” He grumbled.
And that was all InuYasha needed to hear before he was racing out the front door.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Sugimi is really going to meet her!?” Ayame squealed through the cell phone, glancing around at the three other band members who were setting up the equipment.
Miroku gave her a quizzical look and then looked at Koga who just shrugged his shoulders… clearly he didn't know what was going on either.
InuYasha's laugh could be heard through the small device. “I know! It's awesome! And I think my mom is going to like Kagome way more than Kikyo… they never got along. I'm going to call Kagome now and tell her the news.”
Ayame giggled and brushed her bangs away from her pretty green eyes. “That's good; well the group will be waiting for you to get here Mister InuYasha. Don't be late now… we need this practice.”
“Yeah yeah.” InuYasha mumbled, hanging up the phone and dialing the office numbers Ayame had given him.
Kagome picked up her phone quickly on the first ring, “What did I tell you about calling the office you moron!?” She snapped, glancing around suspiciously.
“Well hello to you too Kag.” InuYasha smirked. “I just wanted to tell you that tomorrow you're going to meet my parents. I'll pick you up at seven.” With that he hung up, no way in hell was he waiting to hear her OH MY FUCKING GODS response...
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Kagome slammed her phone back onto the holder and collapsed into her cozy office chair again, giving her two friends that had been in that exact same room and heard everything InuYasha said to her… evil glares. “Don't even think about it…”
Sango smiled. “Wasn't gonna say a thing.”
Rin heaved a dreamy sigh, “I really wish Sesshomaru would take me to meet his parents…”
Kagome laughed, “Hun… you're 19 and he's… just way too old for you… it will never work.”
“Hey, I may be 19 but that doesn't mean I am 19.”
Sango pondered for a moment before shooting her friend down. “You do realize that you just made no sense what so ever right?”
Rin hunched her shoulders, giving up. “Yeah…”
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
InuYasha smirked, “Well… that went well.” He glanced down at his phone which was vibrating against his leather passenger seat and answered it. “Yeah?”
“Hello hunny… how's Tokyo?” Replied the feminine voice.
InuYasha gulped slamming on the brakes at the red light that managed to catch him, “K-kikyo!? It's you!?”
“Of course it's me hunny, who else were you expecting to call?”
“Uh... n-no one. I just thought you were still in Kyoto?”
Kikyo laughed, “Of course I am silly. But I'm coming back tomorrow remember? I just wanted to know if you were picking me up from the airport still.”
The boy scratched his head. “What? You didn't tell me that I was supposed t-”
“UGH! I shouldn't have to ask you idiot!” Kikyo shouted through the receiver. “What kind of fiancé doesn't meet his future wife at the airport to give her a welcome home greeting!?”
“Kikyo I can't, I've got a date with mom and dad. You understand don't you?” InuYasha asked, rubbing his forehead.
“It's always about them! That's all you ever care about! Why don't you just start acting your age and get over your stupid parents! I want some attention from you too you cocky little ingrate! I don't want you to pick me up anymore! If you can't act like a gentleman then you can just go to hell!” Kikyo screamed, abruptly hanging up the phone; leaving InuYasha to boil in his infuriation.
That fucking bitch! How dare she talk to him like that!?
InuYasha threw his phone back down onto the seat and revved the engine, flooring the gas pedal when the light turned green. He still couldn't believe how just one call with that psycho turned his day inside out.
`Fuck fuck fuck shit fuck!'
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“What's taking him so long!? I've got a life to live too ya know… my professor is going to kill me if I miss anymore lectures…” Shippo groaned, bumping his head on his board keys.
Ayame sighed and rested her head on the palm of one of her hands. “I dunno… he should have been here by now…”
Just then, boy in question came bursting furiously through the auditorium doors and strutted towards the stage. His band members looking at him with identical expressions of the `uh oh he talked to Kikyo again' face.
Miroku smirked at his grumbling best friend, “So… how'd it go?”
InuYasha glared at the boy and picked up his guitar. “Just play Miroku!”
“As you wish…” He replied, beginning the song with hard hits on the drum set and allowing InuYasha to enter the song.
This may never start
We could fall apart
And I'd be your memory!
Lost your sense of fear
Feelings insincere
Can I be your memory?
We could fall apart
And I'd be your memory!
Lost your sense of fear
Feelings insincere
Can I be your memory?
Koga smirked, launching into the chorus with Ayame and Shippo. Listening to InuYasha practically scream out the words to rid himself of the anger that had built up within him since the phone call with Kikyo and his long agonizing drive here.
So get back, back, back to where we lasted!
Just like I imagine!
I could never feel this way!
So get back, back, back to the disaster!
My heart's beating faster!
Holding on to feel the same!
So get back, back, back to where we lasted!
Just like I imagine!
I could never feel this way!
So get back, back, back to the disaster!
My heart's beating faster!
Holding on to feel the same!
Koga displayed his small little solo before InuYasha and Ayame took over the lyrics again.
This may never start
I'll tear us apart
Can I be your enemy?
Losing half a year
Waiting for you here
I'd be your anything!
This may never start

Can I be your enemy?

Waiting for you here
I'd be your anything!

The large empty room became engulfed with echoes as the entire band began rocking the stage with passion, anger and meaning. InuYasha slid on his knees and began rolling around, striking his guitar with chords. Koga and Miroku laughed, enjoying their friend's enthusiasm before the song slowed into a soft Shippo's piano theme and then it picked up again; Ayame and InuYasha sharing the microphone.
This may never start
Tearing out my heart.
I'd be your memory.
Lost your sense of fear
Feelings disappear
Can I be your memory?
Tearing out my heart.
I'd be your memory.
Lost your sense of fear
Feelings disappear
Can I be your memory?
Koga glared at the couple, he really hated his feelings for that read-head…

Again, InuYasha shouted out the lyrics to his song… hoping that he wouldn't have to feel so miserable when Kagome finally became part of his life. Kikyo would indeed become a mere memory and then eventually he'd just forget about her.

Ayame smiled softly and placed a reassuring hand on the panting boy's shoulder. “You'll be fine…”
InuYasha looked up at her and smiled back. “Thanks…” He looked around at his three other friends. “Thanks a lot guys… you're the best.”
