CHAPTER 5
Despite the fact that he was spending time in the home of his friends brother, Sei couldn't really see what the big deal was about Sesshomaru taking him in. Rin seemed to be doing exceptionally well, even though her lord had been harassed by many other demons about keeping her as a "pet" but as Sei talked to the girl he could tell she was changing the former ruthless youkai into a more caring individual. From as far as he could tell, Rin had come into Sesshomaru's company about six years ago after a fight with Inuyasha, but he didn't really need to be told all this as Kagome had told him some of the story but for him to learn that she had cared for him despite him being a demon as a piece of information he had not known and so he asked"Why'd you help him Rin if you knew what he was" The girl put down the bowl and tea and said"Because he was hurt. And I was told by my mother to always help those in need even if they weren't exactly the most kindly looking."
Sei chuckled at the girl and said"You are a pure soul Rin. In my time most people would just over look an injured or dying person and go on with their day. But you risked your own safety just to help him. You got guts kid and a good heart that's for certain." Not sure what he meant by having "guts" Rin took the sentence as a compliment and said"Thank you Sei-san. And also because I helped him I have a home and have learned alot about the world and how to take care of myself and others." Sei smiled at her and asked"So do you like Sesshomaru" Rins face blushed at the question and said"No, not like that. He's more like a father to me and has told me I can call him that if I wish but I prefer calling him Lord Sesshomaru. Besides I like Shippou-kun." Sei stared at her quizically and asked"You mean the kitsune hanging out with Inuyasha" The girl hid her face at his question and he let out a loud laugh which turned into a hard cough and she immediately gave him some water which almost instantaniously stopped the cough and soothed his throat.
He let out small little cough and handed her the cup and said"Thanks." before asking"Are there any other injuries besides my head pounding like a series of loud drums" Rin giggled a little and said"Ummm, I think you had a few bruised ribs but that was about it as far as the doctor could find and her rememdies are extremely helpful in healing the body." Sei muttered something in agreement and was about to ask her a question when a knock came at the door. The two stared at eachother and shrugged since neither of them knew who it was and deciding it best to let them in quickly Sei said"Come in." only to be met with a screaming Kagome who immediately knelt by his side and asked him questions like"Are you all right" and "How bad is it"
Although he was glad that his friend was worried about him and checking his wounds, Sei was getting slightly perturbed at her questioning him without even letting him answer. And not wanting to give himself another headache he just let her go about checking him, until she attempted to remove the blanket from his lap to which he quickly replied"OKAY KAGS! I think you know what happened to me without having to check Huggy Bear, along with Starsky and Hutch." Not sure at what he was saying Rin asked"What is this Huggy Bear, Sei-san" Realizing what she was about to do infront of the girl Kagome sat back and said"Oh, Rin I didn't see you there sweetie. How are you doing" Rin's face lit up at being addressed by Kagome so much that Sei was afraid her mouth would go all the way around her head from the smile she was giving but was glad to see it move when the girl replied.
"I'm doing very well Kagome-chan! Lord Sesshomaru has me learning the flute and how to become a great painter. I'm also becoming really good at making herbal remedies and correcting broken bones." The modern age girl smiled happily at the latest news and said"That's wonderful Rin. But, if you don't mind me asking where and how did you find Sei" As if a switched that had been on the verge of going into the "on" position was finally set Rin catapulted into her explanation. "Well Lord Sesshomaru, Jakken, and myself were on our way back from checking some of my lords borders when I got hungry and we stopped for some food since if we didn't Lord Sesshomaru would get mad at having to listen to my grumbling stomach." Kagome smiled as Rin blushed with embarassment and asked"Well what happened after you stopped"
Launching back into her story Rin said"Well when we stopped, Lord Sesshomaru did his afternoon meditations while Jakken was gathering wood for the fire, and while they did that I walked off with Ah-Un to catch fish. But, after only a few minutes of catching them I saw a weird shaped object floating down the river and I ran to up to see what it was and I saw him with a spot of blood on his head and bruises all over his face." Sei rolled his eyes and asked"How's my face look now" Looking up at him Rin grinned and said"You can't even tell you were hurt anymore. I told you that the old ladies herbs worked" Sei scoffed and said"Okay you were right. So what happened after that Rin"
Retracing what she had said Rin continued"Well I went and checked for a heart beat and I got you as far out of the water as I could without hurting you even more and I left Ah-Un with you while I went and fetched Lord Sesshomaru. When I first told him about you lying there I was afraid he would leave you for dead, but when I told him that you were dressed like Kagome-chan he came with me and told me to find the appropriate herbs to heal you while he had Jakken fix a fire." Sei scoffed and thought to himself, Figures the bastard would leave a dying person lying in the mud while he sat next to the river and did nothing. But his thoughts were broken by Rin saying"Please don't think badly of Sesshomaru-sama. He's really kind it's just that it takes a bit to show that side of him." Forcing an apologetic smile Sei said"All right Rin I'm sorry." Smiling back Rin said"So after that I came back fixed up the potion and dribbled some down your throat and soon after we returned home and had the village healer fix you up."
When Rin finished Kagome looked to her friend and asked"Well, Sei I guess you should be thankful that Rin was around, huh" Giving his friend a look that seemed to say"Don't lay on the guilt." But when she glared at him Sei sighed and said"Rin, I know I already told you this but thank you for convincing Sesshomaru to bring me here." Rin's face turned beet red and she said"Your Welcome, Sei-san. But you should really thank Lord Sesshomaru as he was the one who figured out what injuries you had and told me what to prepare so he's really the one you should thank." Kagome looked at her friend and said"She does have a point, Sei." But her words fell on deaf ears as Sei just said"Whatever."
The room got uncomfortably quiet for a moment until they heard the door slide open and Inuyasha walk in, shut the door, and sit next to Kagome and say"You have some annoying friend Sei." Unsure of what the hanyou was talking about Sei asked his friend"What the hell are you talking about, Dog boy" Snorting at the question Inuyasha said"That' bastard David kept calling last night while I was trying to watch that movie you lent me for when I came through the well and I missed a bunch of action so I had to get Kagome to move it back to the parts. And if that wasn't enough the damn idiot woke us up 3 times over the course of the night wondering when you'd be back. But I don't think he'll be calling again as I told him I'd remove his privates the next time he called."
While Kagome yelled at her fiancee Sei couldn't help but laugh to himself at what Inuyasha had done for him and was glad that he'd done it. David had been his boyfriend for almost a year but one night Sei had decided to surprise him with dinner only to find him bent over the kitchen table with some bear going to town on him. They'd stopped right when he dropped the wine on the floor and David had tried to explain himself but Sei gave him two quick hooks to the face and a kick to the gut for going behind his back. Contrary to what most people thought of him Sei was in fact a virgin well in terms of his sexuality at least, one of his female friends had asked him to be her first and he went along with it and he thought that something could have happened between them but the next week he saw her at a club making out with some girl and instead of being angry he tapped her on the shoulder and said"Well, now I know why you slept with me." They burst out laughing and his friends date started to leave but when he told her that he was gay she got the joke and said"Well, if being with a gay guy can turn you off to men what won't"
But Sei was saving himself for someone he could trust his life with and not have to worry about them lying to him and he thought he'd found that in David, he thought. And since then Sei hadn't dated anyone but spent his time hanging out with his friends, family, or just chilling at home when he wasn't doing some sort of workout. He didn't do that fear of aging and getting fat work out stuff, naww for Sei it was"Work out so you don't look like a your carrying ham's in your shirt." and save for a slight belly he was in pretty good shape and most people found him at least a seven on the ten scale. But 3 months later David was trying to get back together with him by leaving apologies on his machine, or sending him flowers to which he just gave to some of his neighbors who appreciated the gesture and thanked him for being so thoughtful. Hell they needed it since some were parents trying to go through school and some flowers can make the house seem a hell of a lot more comfortable if you just do work and school all the time.
Trying to picture what events would transpire if Inuyasha were to castrate his ex, Sei was shaken from his thoughts when he heard the word"SIT" and a loud tremor flow through the floor as Inuyasha landed face first on the hardwood. Looking down then at the hanyou then at his friend Sei said"You didn't need to do that Kagome. I was glad he did it, after what that bastard had pulled on me." When he finished his sentence Kagome was about to explain to him why Inuyasha shouldn't have done that when out of nowhere Rin asked"What's a David? And why were you glad that Inuyasha-san threatened him" Feeling guilty about forgetting the girl was there Sei looked to her and said"It's a name in the future given to boys. And let's just say that the guy hurt me." Not sure at what he meant Rin asked"How'd he hurt you? Did he break a promise"
The room got really quiet for a moment, so quiet that even Inuyasha stopped muttering about Kagome's latest punishment for him. Sei didn't feel comfortable in answering and asked"Oh, Kagome! Did my dad or Michelle call" She looked at her friend and thought for a moment before saying"Yes, your dad was wondering why you didn't call about cancelling dinner and I told him that you had to help a friend out in the country and that it was urgent." Sei felt himself beginning to sweat and said"Okay, and what about the school" Kagome smirked and said"Power shortage throughout a good portion of it. So pretty much the science and arts departments are shut down meaning you and I are out of school for at least a month while they fix the computers and circuit breakers." At the news about him not going to school Sei let out a huge sigh and said"Thank you Jesus" Only to be asked by Inuyasha and Rin"Who's Jesus"
Kagome and Sei both laughed hard at the question and were being yelled at by Inuyasha and Rin about not telling them what they wanted to know only to hear the door slam open and a high pitched voice say"If you filthy beings are done making all that racket your food is ready in the main dining area. And you boy, since you were just fed you will be given a small snack later. Now get out of here and eat since the sooner you get all that done the sooner you filthy mongrels will leave my lords home." Standing up and walking out Sei snickered as he heard the small toad curse Inuyasha as the hanyou punted him down the hall way and turned and gave him a thumbs up before saying"We'll say good bye before we leave in the morning." The injured human returned the gesture and said"Don't worry about me just come back for me when I'm better." His friends gave him the international okay sign, and Rin bowed and told him she would check on him before she went to sleep and Sei went back to reading one of the books that he'd found laying next to him when he woke up while his friends ate their fill in the demon lords home.
Yet, when the two girls and the hanyou arrived at the dining room they found a pile of food waiting for them yet no host. Kagome attempted to ask one of the servants but they just said"Our master had some important matters to see to but said he will see you off in the morning but for now to enjoy the hospitality." And never one to pass up free food Inuyasha just said"Leave the bastard alone and let's eat." Groaning at her fiancees rashness Kagome sat next to him and Rin next to her and the three began to dine on the wonderful food that had been prepared for them.
However, the truth of the matter was that Sesshomaru hadn't even left the house. The truth was the Sesshomaru had Rin burn some incense in the boys room while she fed him. He didn't like lying to her but he felt in necessary so that he could listen in without his brother's knowledge and was satisfied with the amount of information he had received about the boys personal life because when Rin had asked about the one named David, Sesshomaru's ears picked up a slight quickening in the boys heart and could hear the nervousness in the boys voice and knew that the boy was hiding something important. But since he'd gotten what he needed out of the conversation he felt that once his brother had left would be the best time to confront the boy about the debt that was owed to him.
So, stepping back into his palace through a secret entrance in a wall Sesshomaru headed left down the hallway and knocked on the boys door and was glad to hear the boy say"Come in." Walking in Sesshomaru hid a small smile as the boys eyes grew wide and he set the book down and asked"So, what do I owe the honor of you visiting me" Chuckling to himself the youkai said"Honestly, there is really no need for such formalities..yet. But to answer your question it is to discuss my decision in helping keep you alive." He could feel Seis eyes burn into him as the boy asked"What do you want? Some sort of payment? I can't give you anything of worth in this time and you know it so there's no way I can repay you."
Sei jumped as he heard a low laugh come from the youkai's throat and he asked"What's so funny" Looking at the boy Sesshomaru said"You humans, always thinking that you can only repay a debt in money. But what I'm looking for is more valuable than money." Not liking where this was going Sei said"If you think that I'm going to..." but his protest made Sesshomaru let out a clearly audible laugh and Sei felt a small chill go down his spine at the sound as he watched a sort of oddly shaped smile come across his "saviors" face as he said"You humans truly are simple minded. I do not want your body foolish boy, well not in the terms you're thinking of. The terms I speak of are that of a life debt. Do you know the term"
Breathing heavily Sei said"Yeah, I know the term. I've met some people who are into them in my time believe it or not. The practice has gone a bit out of practice but many still take them seriously." Nodding Sesshomaru said"Good, and I suppose Rin told you that had I not chosen to get you help you would be dead right now" Sei nodded and Sesshomaru continued"Wonderful, then here are my terms of the debt. Since I have pressing business that sometimes requires me to be away days at a time you are to come through the well and watch over the girl Rin when I send Inuyasha with a note saying that it is too dangerous for her to come with me, agreed" Feeling ashamed that he was in this position Sei nodded and Sesshomaru said"Good, the next condition is that I will also sometimes summon you to discuss any topic of my choosing whether it be your time, literature, the stars or whatever catches my fancy is that tolerable."
Again he nodded and Sesshomaru said"Glad you understand what occurs when a life debt is settled. Now the final term is that according to what that human Kagome has told Rin, is that in your time you go to schools where you learn all aspects of life and you are given time off over the year, but I overheard them in my dining room and apparently you are to be leaving one of these places permanently, correct" Sei nodded and said"Yes" to which Sesshomaru said"Good, because once you leave there I will expect you to accompany me on journies so that you can watch Rin in case things get too out of hand and believe it or not I know you can protect her better than that toad Jakken and since I know how important money is for humans to survive I will pay you in gold, jewels, or silver, it's your choice really since I have so many I really don't mind if you take a good sackful to cover your debts, is that agreeable with you" Sei shrugged and said"I can get more from pawning those things than working in a cubicle for my whole life so why not? Any other terms" Thinking for a moment Sesshomaru finally said"Yes, you are to call me Lord, Lord Sesshomaru, Sesshomaru-sama, or sir at all times you are in my company, is that agreeable"
Feeling rage boil in him at such a humiliation Sei said through gritted teeth"Yes, sir." But he hated the result of that as Sesshomarus face twisted with this sick satisfaction as he heard the words slip from the boys mouth as he looked at him and said"Glad to you see things as I do. I shall take my leave now and since you are injured for awhile longer I won't pressure anything of you since I know how irritated humans can get when injured as you are but I may come to speak to you within the next week or so, after the village healer checks you." And without saying another word Sesshomaru headed out the door leaving Sei seething with anger at what the demon had forced him into.
Meanwhile a few rooms away Inuyasha was just as mad as Sei and his temper was getting on Kagome's nerves as she asked"What's the matter" Looking to his betrothed Inuyasha said"My brother is claiming a life debt on Sei and now Sei pretty much has to come when ever Sesshomaru calls for him and he's going to use me as a messenger boy since I feel obligated to repay him for saving my friend." Walking over to her love Kagome said"Your guys' pride bring you guys more trouble than help." Snorting the hanyou said"Sometimes that's all a person has and they'll do anything to maintain it even if it means a bit of humiliation." Chuckling Kagome said"Well I'm glad you count Sei as a friend, Inuyasha." Scoffing at her mushiness he said"Yeah well he's a good guy despite his taste in lovers."
The hanyou let out a loud yelp of fake pain as Kagome smacked him and said"That's not funny Inuyasha" But she was immediately silenced as he pressed his lips to her mouth and pushing her down onto their matress. Kagome couldn't resist her chosens advances and broke the kiss long enough to let out a low"I guess you do deserve a reward for coming to check on him." and for the rest of the night anyone walking through that hall could hear the soft moaning of the current Inu-no-Taisho's brother and his mate emmanating from behind closed doors.

When he finished his sentence Kagome was about to explain to him why Inuyasha shouldn't have done that when out of nowhere Rin asked"What's a David? And why were you glad that Inuyasha-san threatened him" Feeling guilty about forgetting the girl was there Sei looked to her and said"It's a name in the future given to boys. And let's just say that the guy hurt me." Not sure at what he meant Rin asked"How'd he hurt you? Did he break a promise"
The room got really quiet for a moment, so quiet that even Inuyasha stopped muttering about Kagome's latest punishment for him. Sei didn't feel comfortable in answering and asked"Oh, Kagome! Did my dad or Michelle call" She looked at her friend and thought for a moment before saying"Yes, your dad was wondering why you didn't call about cancelling dinner and I told him that you had to help a friend out in the country and that it was urgent." Sei felt himself beginning to sweat and said"Okay, and what about the school" Kagome smirked and said"Power shortage throughout a good portion of it. So pretty much the science and arts departments are shut down meaning you and I are out of school for at least a month while they fix the computers and circuit breakers." At the news about him not going to school Sei let out a huge sigh and said"Thank you Jesus" Only to be asked by Inuyasha and Rin"Who's Jesus"
Kagome and Sei both laughed hard at the question and were being yelled at by Inuyasha and Rin about not telling them what they wanted to know only to hear the door slam open and a high pitched voice say"If you filthy beings are done making all that racket your food is ready in the main dining area. And you boy, since you were just fed you will be given a small snack later. Now get out of here and eat since the sooner you get all that done the sooner you filthy mongrels will leave my lords home." Standing up and walking out Sei snickered as he heard the small toad curse Inuyasha as the hanyou punted him down the hall way and turned and gave him a thumbs up before saying"We'll say good bye before we leave in the morning." The injured human returned the gesture and said"Don't worry about me just come back for me when I'm better." His friends gave him the international okay sign, and Rin bowed and told him she would check on him before she went to sleep and Sei went back to reading one of the books that he'd found laying next to him when he woke up while his friends ate their fill in the demon lords home.
Yet, when the two girls and the hanyou arrived at the dining room they found a pile of food waiting for them yet no host. Kagome attempted to ask one of the servants but they just said"Our master had some important matters to see to but said he will see you off in the morning but for now to enjoy the hospitality." And never one to pass up free food Inuyasha just said"Leave the bastard alone and let's eat." Groaning at her fiancees rashness Kagome sat next to him and Rin next to her and the three began to dine on the wonderful food that had been prepared for them.
However, the truth of the matter was that Sesshomaru hadn't even left the house. The truth was the Sesshomaru had Rin burn some incense in the boys room while she fed him. He didn't like lying to her but he felt in necessary so that he could listen in without his brother's knowledge and was satisfied with the amount of information he had received about the boys personal life because when Rin had asked about the one named David, Sesshomaru's ears picked up a slight quickening in the boys heart and could hear the nervousness in the boys voice and knew that the boy was hiding something important. But since he'd gotten what he needed out of the conversation he felt that once his brother had left would be the best time to confront the boy about the debt that was owed to him.
So, stepping back into his palace through a secret entrance in a wall Sesshomaru headed left down the hallway and knocked on the boys door and was glad to hear the boy say"Come in." Walking in Sesshomaru hid a small smile as the boys eyes grew wide and he set the book down and asked"So, what do I owe the honor of you visiting me" Chuckling to himself the youkai said"Honestly, there is really no need for such formalities..yet. But to answer your question it is to discuss my decision in helping keep you alive." He could feel Seis eyes burn into him as the boy asked"What do you want? Some sort of payment? I can't give you anything of worth in this time and you know it so there's no way I can repay you."
Sei jumped as he heard a low laugh come from the youkai's throat and he asked"What's so funny" Looking at the boy Sesshomaru said"You humans, always thinking that you can only repay a debt in money. But what I'm looking for is more valuable than money." Not liking where this was going Sei said"If you think that I'm going to..." but his protest made Sesshomaru let out a clearly audible laugh and Sei felt a small chill go down his spine at the sound as he watched a sort of oddly shaped smile come across his "saviors" face as he said"You humans truly are simple minded. I do not want your body foolish boy, well not in the terms you're thinking of. The terms I speak of are that of a life debt. Do you know the term"
Breathing heavily Sei said"Yeah, I know the term. I've met some people who are into them in my time believe it or not. The practice has gone a bit out of practice but many still take them seriously." Nodding Sesshomaru said"Good, and I suppose Rin told you that had I not chosen to get you help you would be dead right now" Sei nodded and Sesshomaru continued"Wonderful, then here are my terms of the debt. Since I have pressing business that sometimes requires me to be away days at a time you are to come through the well and watch over the girl Rin when I send Inuyasha with a note saying that it is too dangerous for her to come with me, agreed" Feeling ashamed that he was in this position Sei nodded and Sesshomaru said"Good, the next condition is that I will also sometimes summon you to discuss any topic of my choosing whether it be your time, literature, the stars or whatever catches my fancy is that tolerable."
Again he nodded and Sesshomaru said"Glad you understand what occurs when a life debt is settled. Now the final term is that according to what that human Kagome has told Rin, is that in your time you go to schools where you learn all aspects of life and you are given time off over the year, but I overheard them in my dining room and apparently you are to be leaving one of these places permanently, correct" Sei nodded and said"Yes" to which Sesshomaru said"Good, because once you leave there I will expect you to accompany me on journies so that you can watch Rin in case things get too out of hand and believe it or not I know you can protect her better than that toad Jakken and since I know how important money is for humans to survive I will pay you in gold, jewels, or silver, it's your choice really since I have so many I really don't mind if you take a good sackful to cover your debts, is that agreeable with you" Sei shrugged and said"I can get more from pawning those things than working in a cubicle for my whole life so why not? Any other terms" Thinking for a moment Sesshomaru finally said"Yes, you are to call me Lord, Lord Sesshomaru, Sesshomaru-sama, or sir at all times you are in my company, is that agreeable"
Feeling rage boil in him at such a humiliation Sei said through gritted teeth"Yes, sir." But he hated the result of that as Sesshomarus face twisted with this sick satisfaction as he heard the words slip from the boys mouth as he looked at him and said"Glad to you see things as I do. I shall take my leave now and since you are injured for awhile longer I won't pressure anything of you since I know how irritated humans can get when injured as you are but I may come to speak to you within the next week or so, after the village healer checks you." And without saying another word Sesshomaru headed out the door leaving Sei seething with anger at what the demon had forced him into.
Meanwhile a few rooms away Inuyasha was just as mad as Sei and his temper was getting on Kagome's nerves as she asked"What's the matter" Looking to his betrothed Inuyasha said"My brother is claiming a life debt on Sei and now Sei pretty much has to come when ever Sesshomaru calls for him and he's going to use me as a messenger boy since I feel obligated to repay him for saving my friend." Walking over to her love Kagome said"Your guys' pride bring you guys more trouble than help." Snorting the hanyou said"Sometimes that's all a person has and they'll do anything to maintain it even if it means a bit of humiliation." Chuckling Kagome said"Well I'm glad you count Sei as a friend, Inuyasha." Scoffing at her mushiness he said"Yeah well he's a good guy despite his taste in lovers."
The hanyou let out a loud yelp of fake pain as Kagome smacked him and said"That's not funny Inuyasha" But she was immediately silenced as he pressed his lips to her mouth and pushing her down onto their matress. Kagome couldn't resist her chosens advances and broke the kiss long enough to let out a low"I guess you do deserve a reward for coming to check on him." and for the rest of the night anyone walking through that hall could hear the soft moaning of the current Inu-no-Taisho's brother and his mate emmanating from behind closed doors.
