Chapter IX: A Night To Remember
Part II
"It was not suppose to be like this!" Kagome fumed as she followed Kikyo and InuYasha, practically hand in hand, inside of the luxurious hotel. Once, they entered Kagome was stunned. It was completely gorgeous in every corner and at every angle. They lobby had a collasal blue glass stairwell leading to the rooms and the ceiling was designed modernly in marble and so was the floor. It was sprinkled with people mingling at the blue lighted bar at the far right. "This is gorgeous, huh?" She said.
"Yeah, it is. Where's the party, Kik?" InuYasha said completely ignoring Kagome making her feel more like a ghost.
"I think it's in the conference room." She said hooking a corner seeing the double doors wide with white and red balloons adorning it. "There it is." Kikyo said dragging InuYasha and Kagome eagerly following trying to somehow be a part of the group.
They reached the door and smiled at the many gathering of people. Tables adorned the floor with beautiful roses and lily centerpieces, a festive bar to the left, and a wooden dance floor that held few couples getting down to the rythmic beat.
"Great party. What's the cause?" Kagome asked wanting to be a part of something.
InuYasha mentally hit himself. He couldn't let Kagome know the real cause. "Oh, it's nothing."
"Yash, there's my dad!" Kikyo said pointing out her father through the mass of people.
"Alright, you go on ahead." InuYasha said and Kikyo reluctantly left him and headed towards her father.
Once Kikyo was gone, it suddenly became stuffy in the room to them. "Um...I have to go to the bathroom." Kagome said slowly before walking off.
"Ka..." He sighed as he let her go. He hated to treat Kagome this way.
"InuYasha!" a voice called.
InuYasha turned to see Kikyo's smiling face calling him over. He manuevered through the crowd until he met up with his best friend, his boss, and his boss's wife. "Hi, sir. Hi, Mrs. Takahashi." He said greeting them.
"Taisho, I'm so glad you could make. You're late as always I see."
InuYasha gritted his teeth. "Um...well..."
"Daddy, it was bad traffic. Now, stop badgering him." Kikyo said.
"Only for you, sweet pea."
Kikyo kissed his cheek. "Thanks, daddy."
"Well, I better be going. Me and the wife have people to greet. See you around, Taisho. By the way, nice suit." Mr. Takahashi said walking away.
"You too, sir!" InuYasha shouted nervously. Once the boss was out of his presence, InuYasha exhaled all of the butterflies that were caught in his stomach.
"Why are you so nervous this evening?" Kikyo said.
"I really want this promotion, but did you hear that? He said, nice suit."
Kikyo shook her head. "So, where is um...Kagome?" she asked.
"She went to the bathroom."
"She's a nice girl." Kikyo said, but really intended for...'What do you think about her?'
"Yeah, I mean she's cool and everything."
"And pretty." 'How does she look to you?'
"Yeah she's cute."
'Just cute! I can live with cute.' Kikyo thought. InuYasha started to absent mindedly tap his feet to the funky fast paced melody that flowed out the speakers. Kikyo noticed it and smiled. 'This is my chance!' "Remember this song." She said bumping into his hip.
"Huh? Oh, yeah. Those were good times."
"Let's go out there." Kikyo said gesturing towards the dance floor.
"Oh, no. I'm not in the mood for it."
"Come on, Yashie. You know how we used to do it."
"That's exactly why I'm not going out there. I'm not that young anymore."
Kikyo playfully sighed. "Oh, well. I guess it's best not to since you're so old now."
"Hey, I ain't old." InuYasha protested. "If you want to dance, then we'll dance." He said never to back down after an insult.
"I don't know. You might break a back out there." Kikyo joked.
"I'll show you. Come on." He said grabbing her arm and leading her to the wooden dance floor.
"You sure you remember how to move those logs you call legs, Mr. Taisho."
"You're really starting to test my nerves, Kik."
"Oooh, what are you going to do? Hit me with your cane."
InuYasha growled as he grabbed her hand and twirled her before adding quick steps to the fast beat.
"Now you've awoken." Kikyo said matching every fast steps and sharp turns.
"Come on, Kik. Can you keep up with a pro?"
"The question is can you keep up with me, old man." She said doing quick latin steps before ending with a twirl.
InuYasha scrunched up his face. "Oh, don't bring that old, college dance lesson shit up." He said before he grabbed her hand and twirled her fast.
"What are you doing?"
"Hold on and think small." Was all he said before he grabbed both of her hands and swung her through his legs.
Kikyo slid shortly, almost slipping, before getting up and gaining ground. "That was slick. I wasn't even ready."
InuYasha smirked and turned around. "There's no such thing as, 'I wasn't ready' in dancing, sweetie." He said twirling her before dipping her. Their eyes held on to each and their breathing was rapid.
Kikyo's heart almost skipped a beat as she felt his chest thump into hers. "Is that all you can do, geezer."
He let her up before they started to step to the rythm. "No, that's not it and this time I'll even warn you."
"What?"
InuYasha quirked an eyebrow before he twirled her out and brought her back into the shared two step.
Kikyo gasped. "No!"
"Yes."
"No, I just wanted to dance. I didn't want anybody to get hurt."
"You won't get hurt."
"I didn't mean me. I don't won't your back to go out or anything."
"Ha ha ha. Not only can you dance, you can tell jokes as well." InuYasha sarcastically.
"Trust me on this, okay."
Kikyo whined. "Do I have to?"
"Yes, now get ready."
"Okay." Kikyo closed her eyes.
InuYasha quickly grabbed a hold of her waist and shoulders before picking her up horizontally and swirled her around his waist. By this time, a crowd emerged around them and clapped widly at the show.
"Okay, InuYasha. I'm getting dizzy!" Kikyo yelled.
"Sorry." He said as he got a tight hold on her waist and swung her around to her feet.
Kikyo squealed in excitement once she was safely planted on her feet. "Oh, my God! You did it!"
InuYasha smirked. "Yeah, I did didn't I?" He said as the song died down.
"Yeah, you did. I didn't think you had it in you."
InuYasha took a huge breath. "Me neither." Then a slow melodic song came on.
"Are you up for another song or are you too tired.?" Kikyo said.
"No, I'm up for it." InuYasha said. "Are you up for it?"
"Of course." Kikyo said wrapping her arms around his neck and slowly moving to the beat.
InuYasha hesitantly placed his hands on either side of her waist.
This is my last dance with you
This is my only chance to do all I can do
To let you know that what I feel for you is real
Kikyo completely melted into him as she snuggled into his warm inviting chest.
How could she not fall in love with this man. He was everything she dreamed of and more. Yeah, and maybe he didn't have all the money in world or all the money in her purse. Yeah, and of course his manners were never gentlemen like. Yeah, and so what he went through more women than the NBA. She loved him and that's what mattered.
This is the last chance for us
This is the moment that I just cannot let end
Before I know that theres a chance were more than friends
InuYasha didn't want to admit the feelings that were arising as he held Kikyo warm body flush against him. She was just Kikyo. She was just his friend and anything more was forbidden. 'But she feels so good.'
So dont let go, dont let go
Make it last all night
This is my last chance to make you mine

Kagome hated herself for what she was feeling. Here she was crying in a bathroom stall, and for what? Kagome widly unraveled the toilet paper from the collasal roll and gently wiped away her tears. She walked out of the stall and looked into the mirror to see the complete and utter mess she made of her makeup. The black liner running down her face like dark tears of hell.
'I am pathetic.' Kagome said before she snatched a sheet of paper towel and ran it under hot water. She looked in the mirror and sighed as she harshly rubbed off the eyeliner and shadow. She grabbed some more paper towel and tried her best to clean off the residue.
"Why am I letting him get to me?" She asked herself before heading out of the door. She walked into the party searching for InuYasha. Once she found his silver hair, her heart sank to see that Kikyo was clung to him. Her stomach turned something dreadful as she saw them hugged up on the dance floor like newlyweds. She glared them both before storming to the bar. "I need a drink."
=*=*=*=
I kept my feelings so deep
I kept my dreams of you and me somewhere inside
Although I prayed that you would see it in my eyes
InuYasha could sense daggers point into his back. He turned around expecting to find a certain ebony haired goddess to be missing from the picture. Then he saw her...at the bar. Drowning her sorrows in alchol.
"InuYasha, are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"Good." Kikyo said laying her head back onto his broud chest.
But this is my last chance to say
Whats in my heart before you stay out of my life
And then youll understand the way I feel inside
InuYasha kept his eyes to Kagome never letting her leave his sight.

Kagome sipped her downed the tequila shot the bartender gave her. "This is so how I did not want to spend my night."
"Having a bad night?"
Kagome whipped her head around to be eye to eye with inviting green eyes and short brown hair."Um...yeah."
"Me, too." He said. "Mind if I sit here and keep you company?"
"No, go head." She said.
"Cool. Bartender, bring me two of whatever she's having."
"You don't have to buy me a drink." Kagome said.
"I want to, umm....I didn't catch your name."
Kagome snorted. "I didn't throw it."
"My name is Chance."
Kagome smiled. "Kagome."
=*=*=*=
InuYasha could see the clown talking to Kagome, but he tried his best to ignore it.
So hold me close cause it feels so right
This is my last chance to make it mine
Make this dream reality
So close and yet so far
Gotta find a way into your heart
Gotta speak my mind
Gotta open up to you this time
I cant let you slip away tonight
"InuYasha, you seem tense."
InuYasha looked down to Kikyo's big brown eyes. "No, I'm fine. You know I never really had the chance to compliment you tonight."
"And?"
"You look beautiful."
Kikyo blushed and looked deeply into InuYasha warm summer eyes. . 'Now or never, Kik. Don't let this moment pass.' "InuYasha?" Kikyo asked as her breath started to catch itself.
"Yes, Kikyo." They were so close she could feel his breath against her cheek. She wanted to kiss his lips, but they seemed so far from where they really were.
This is my last dance with you
This is my only chance to do all I can do
To let you know that what I feel for you is so real
So dont let go
Just make it last all night long
This is my last chance to make you mine, yeah
To make you mine
"I love you." She said in a heavy exhale before she latched her lips onto his soft ruby jewels.
InuYasha was shocked, but soon he naturally gave in to the kiss she so wholeheartedly gave.
=*=*=*=
"You know, Kagome. I'm usually not this bold, but you're a beautiful woman,"
"Thanks."
"...and I'm going to get straight to the point. Can I sleep with you tonight? I have a suite upstairs and..."
"Um..." Kagome was so shocked by the outburst that she didn't have any words for it. She then looked out to the dancefloor and her heart sank. 'She's kissing him! And he's kissing her back!' Kagome raged.
"Kagome, are you ready and willing?"
She turned to look at those inviting green eyes. "Come on, Kagome, take a chance." He said smoothly.
"Sure." She confidently said.
"Really?!" He seemed bewildered that the line actually worked on someone.
"Yep." She jumped off the barstool and grabbed his hand. "Let's go."
=*=*=*=
InuYasha felt like he was in some odd dream as him and Kikyo kissed brazenly in the middle of the dancefloor. Kikyo felt so soft and so warm, but she didn't feel....right. He felt this wasn't right in his gut, but why would he feel this way?
'Kagome.' The thought of her innocent smiling face made his head jar back, and out of the kiss.
Kikyo blushed like a hot tamale after the bold kiss they shared. "Yash?" She asked, looking for some reaction that said he wanted her just as much as she wanted him.
InuYasha looked through the crowd searching for those sky dew eyes and obsidian black hair. She wasn't here. He searched through faces and shapes, but she wasn't here. InuYasha's eyes' averted to the bar. What he noticed made his heart pop. Not only was she gone, but the guy she was talking was nowhere in sight. He didn't know why he felt that something was not right with that, and he just had to check it out.
Kikyo watched the man she loved look frantically around the room. "Yash, are you okay?"
"Kagome." He said hastingly before running off.
"What? InuYasha," She yelled after him. "Wait." She whispered.
=*=*=*=
InuYasha ran quickly out of the conference room and into the lobby. He searched for her, but couldn't find her...or him. He looked to the glass like stairs and hoped for the best as he took them two at a time. InuYasha looked at the numerous people that gathered through the hallways. He didn't know where to start so he "eenie meenie minie moed" a hallway and shot down it.
"Kagome?!" He shouted through the hallways. "Kagome?!" He said manuevering through the people.
He quickly turned a corner and saw her. There she was walking into a room with him."Kagome, stop!" He yelled as he ran towards her.
Kagome turned around and was shocked to see who was calling her name. "What do you want?" She sneered.
"What are you doing?" InuYasha asked in disbelief.
"I'm doing what I want to do, InuYasha."
"Who's this clown?" Chance said eyeing the silver haired man.
"He's a nobody." Kagome said before grabbing Chance's arm. "Come on. Don't mind him."
"Kagome, stop this right now. You're clearly drunk." He said grabbing her arm and tugging her away.
"Get off." She said as she snatched her arm from his grip. "I am not drunk."
"What? Yes you are. You're letting this man take advantage of you."
"He's not taking advantage of me, InuYasha." She said.
“Yes he is. He got you drunk. I know the game he’s trying to play.”
“I bet you do.” She sneered.
“If it helps, she was a little tipsy when I found her.” Chance dropped in.
“You stay out of this.” InuYasha sternly said.
“Stop the act now, Yash. Stop trying to be this gentlemen that you’re not. You’re not my night and shining armor. You were a one night stand that went wrong." She fumed.
InuYasha blew hot and heavy through his nostrils. "So, what are you doing to do? Huh, Kagome?"
"I am going to let this man fuck me!” Kagome yelled.
InuYasha heart clenched at her words. “Why are you acting like a-a-a-...?"
“A whore! A slut! A tramp! Is that what you were going to call me?"
"N-n-no..."
"This isn’t an act, InuYasha. This is how I am. I am a whore, I am a slut, and yes, I am a tramp.” Kagome clearly said as she stared his gold orbs down.
InuYasha didn’t want to admit the change in her eyes. That innocent look now gone. “Kagome?” He asked in a low whisper. She looked like her, but he knew she wasn’t.
"I know this isn't you. So, just start acting like you again."
"Oh, save it. I'm tired of this. I'm tired of you." She said.
InuYasha wasn't going to let his real feelings surface. Not like this. "Fine! Fuck him. See if I care." He said walking off.
Kagome bit her lip from yelling after him. She knew what just said was wrong, but she just wanted to kill him after seeing the kiss he shared with Kikyo. It was just a kiss. Why did it hurt her so much? Why did she feel like she felt when she was thirteen?
"Kagome?" Chance said placing a hand on her shoulder.
She looked up his green eyes. "I'm sorry, Chance. I can't do this." Kagome softly said.
"I don't blame you. I'm lucky you came this far. Have a good night, Kagome." He said opening the door to his room.
"Chance?"
He turned around. "Yeah."
"I'm sorry."
He gave her a genuine smile. "Don't be." Chance said before walking into the room.
=*=*=*=
InuYasha stormed into the party and grabbed Kikyo's arm. "This party sucks. Let's go."
Kikyo was stunned by his sudden anger. "Okay. Where's Kagome?"
"Fuck her." He clearly said before walking off and Kikyo following after him.
=*=*=*=
Sango paced the room as she looked at the VCR clock. "Where is she?" Sango was starting to get worried that Kagome didn't get back home.
The door opened and Sango looked to see Kagome. Makeup smeared and tear swollen eyes. "Kagome." Sango whispered.
"Sango!" Kagome wailed as she threw herself on the couch.
"Aww, what happened?" Sango said closing the door before sitting next to her crying friend.
"I fucked up. I knew I should've listened to you. I saw him kissing another girl."
Sango rubbed her back soothingly. "I'm sorry. I told you not to get hurt."
"I just feel so stupid, you know."
"Well, you got played."
=*=*=*=
InuYasha sighed as he sat on Kikyo's couch in silence for about an hour. He didn't know what to say or what to do. That look in Kagome's eyes' tonight told him everything he needed to know about her.
"InuYasha?"
He looked over to Kikyo. She sat quietly with him this whole time. She was a good friend to him. "I'm sorry if I ruined your night." He said.
Kikyo blushed and shook her head. "Actually it couldn't get any better."
"What if it could?" He quietly said.
"I don't think it..." InuYasha quickly claimed her lips before she could finish her sentence. He broke the kiss before placing kisses on her neck and shoulders.
"InuYasha." Kikyo moaned.
He complied as he began to unbutton the back of her dress. InuYasha stopped his movement once he realized something was missing. "Hold on. I don't have a condom."
Kikyo smiled. "You don't need one." She said before giving him a chaste kiss. "Not with me."
InuYasha picked her up bridal style and carried her off to the bedroom.
A/n: Yeah, yeah I know. Don't flame me though.

"Let's go."

InuYasha stormed into the party and grabbed Kikyo's arm. "This party sucks. Let's go."
Kikyo was stunned by his sudden anger. "Okay. Where's Kagome?"
"Fuck her." He clearly said before walking off and Kikyo following after him.
