Chapter X: ...And A Morning To Last Forever

The sun beamed in harshly through the curtain covered window making it a morning glow. Topaz eyes appeared themselves and InuYasha groaned to the headache that seemed to always happen when he woke up in beds other than his own.

"Fuck." He said silently as he rubbed his head. He felt an odd weight beside him so he turned around to see the other body. Obsidian hair strown wistfully across the bed in curly locks . A warm feeling consumed him like a burning fire. 'Was it love?' He inwardly asked himself.

The other form gently murmered before fully awakening herself. "Good morning, Yash." She said in an unladylike morning groan, but InuYasha didn't care. To him, it sounded like a chorus of heavenly angels.

"Good morning, Kagome."

The ebony colored head shot up quickly. "What?" Kikyo didn't want to believe what came through her own ears, but there was no denying that he called out her name.

InuYasha shook his head and looked twice before he realized what he said and who he was actually talking to. "I-I-I said good morning, Kikyo."

Kikyo quickly sat up on her haunches. "That's not what you said." She steamed as she put her hands on her hips in anger. 'Please, don't lie to me, Yash. That's the last thing I was want from you.' Kikyo inwardly pleaded.

"Yes I did."

Kikyo sighed. It was funny how he could sit here and lie to her face. She'd known him too long for that. She knew InuYasha like the back of her hand she knew when he was lying. "InuYasha, I'm not one your one night stands," She started in frustration,"You don't have to lie to me."

InuYasha knew he couldn't. He didn't even know why he tried. "I'm sorry." He sighed in defeat. "I fucked up." was all he had to say.

Kikyo shook her head before she sat on the edge of the bed with her back towards him. “Is that all you got?” She said.

InuYasha felt so bad. All he could do was stare. He wanted to comfort her because he knew Kikyo for too long to see her like this.

"I can feel them, you know" Kikyo whispered.

"What?" InuYasha said.

"I can feel your eyes staring at me. Please, stop." Her voice now cold and almost distant.

"Kik..." He reached out to place a hand on her shoulder.

"Don't touch me." She said as she pulled away from his touch like it was fire.

InuYasha withdrew his hand. "I didn't mean for any of this to happen the way it did." He sighed and searched the room hoping to find the right words to say. "I didn't mean to hurt you."

She glanced over her shoulder. "Do you chase your tail like a dog, too?"

"Kikyo..." He started

"Just leave."

"Kik, don't be this way." He pleaded.

"Don't try and save face now. I guess, "She sighed and lowered her shoulders. "I guess I always knew you were this way. I just couldn't believe it. I could believe that my InuYasha was such a dog.” She grabbed the sheet from the bed and wrapped it around her naked body. “I’m going to take a shower and when I get out I want you gone.” She said said in a doleful tone before leaving the room.

"Fuck.” InuYasha groaned before throwing himself against the bed. “What the fuck just happened?” He asked himself in anger. “Am I stupid?” He groaned before getting up and tripping to the floor. “Fuck.” He cursed as the rough sting shot through his face.

Kikyo stood into the shower letting the torrid water purify her. She felt dirty and felt like crap and only InuYasha could make her feel this way. The sound of the front door slamming made the threatening tears spill over in waves. She went into hystrics as her heart felt like it was being ripped out of her chest and she didn't know how to control herself.

'How could he do this to me?' Kikyo asked herself. She felt foolish for believing that he actually loved her or that he actually cared. Kikyo knew he was player, but thought that maybe he would change for her. Oh, how wrong she was was.

The worst part was that she still loved him.

Miroku took a desperate drag from the cancer stick in his hands. He exhaled the intoxiating smoke letting it cloud in whitish-gray above him.He looked at the shiny black grand before him. It taunted him with evil teasing.

'Play me. Play me' The piano provoked.

"Oh, shut up." He groaned before putting out the cigarette in the full astray on top of the piano. "Alright," He started before taking a deep breath. He placed his fingers on the ivory keys before the phone rang. Miroku sighed before getting up and walking towards the phone.

"Hello." He greeted, but silence was only heard through the receiver. "Hello?" He said again, but this time he could hear small giggles and laughter. Now, he was getting mad.

"Okay, I want you to stop playing on my phone."

"Prepare for the worse, Houshi." Said a deep feminine voice.

"What?" He asked in confusion but only received the long dong of the dial tone. Miroku started to dwell on the strange call, but quickly disregarded it. He turned back to the grand and cracked his fingers, getting ready to play before InuYasha came storming in.

He threw the dress jacket on the couch and stormed to his room mumbling obsencities. Miroku stared at his friend furiously walk into the house and couldn't play without knowing what happened.

"What's your deal, man?" Miroku said getting up to follow his roommate.

"Leave me the fuck alone, 'Roku." InuYasha said plopping down on the edge of his bed.

"Now, come on." He said before leaning against the threshold. "Dish the dirt."

InuYasha sighed defeatedly as he threw himself backwards onto the plush of quilt. "I fucked up, man. I mean, I really fucked up."

"I kind of figured you would."

"Thanks for the reassurance, man." InuYasha scoffed.

"What exactly happend? What did you do?"

"What did I do?" He paused to confirm his feelings. "I fell in love is what I did."

"Why am I feeling so empty? What's wrong with me?" Kagome thought as she sat absent mindly at her desk. She looked around the empty class and was glad that her class was gone to lunch and she had time to herself.

"Kagome?"

Kagome looked up to see the last person she wanted to see standing at the doorway. "Please, Kouga, not today. I thought I made myself clear the last time."

The blue eyed teacher walked further into the classroom."Yeah, but that was before I even got a chance to talk.”

Kagome sighed. "There is nothing to talk about."

Kouga growled low in his throat as he balled his fingers into a tight fist. "Look, I don't want to argue. I bought you a gift." He said reaching into his pocket and pulling out a rectangular red velvet box. "Just take it, alright."

"Does your wife know about this?"

Kouga gritted his teeth. "No, she doesn't, but I'll tell her."

"Tell her what?!”

“Tell her about us.”

Kagome’s blood began to boil with anger. “Kouga, there is no us. There never was and there never will be!” She exploded. “Why can’t you get that through your head?”

Kouga’s eyes began to narrow into little slits of terror. “After all we’ve done. All the love we made in this very classroom.”

Kagome lowered her voice to a whisper. “We never made love. We just had sex. That’s it and now I’m regretting we even did that.”

Kouga wanted nothing more but to smash her brains in, but he had to contain himself.“Kagome, you are a bitch. One day you’ll get yours and hopefully, for you, it’ll be sooner than later.” He said before stormed out of the classroom.

InuYasha walked into the carwash locker room. He plopped down on the bench and sighed. "Damn." He whispered to himself. He had a good mind not to go to work today, but he needed that paycheck since Miroku wanted to quit his job. InuYasha got up and opened his locker before pulling out his gray jumpsuit.

"You're two minutes late."

InuYasha's head swung around to be eye to eye with his bosses daughter. "Kikyo?" Was all he could say. He was completely speechless as she stood there in a skirt and baby tee.

"You better hurry up before your boss finds out." She said.

All InuYasha could do was nod as he watched her walk away. He didn't know how he could possibly mess up a good friendship. "Kikyo?!" He yelled as he caught up to her. "Kikyo, wait up for a minute."

"What do you want, InuYasha?"

"Kik, I'm sorry. I'm truly am and I never had any intentions of hurting you."

"Whether you had any intention or not, you already did hurt me."

"I can't turn off what the heart wants, okay?"

"Heart?!" She spat. "You, InuYasha Taisho, have no heart." She said before walking away.

"Kik?!" He yelled after. "Damn." He whispered once she was gone.

Miroku whistled a light tune as he walked up the steps to his 'fair lady's' house. "Oooh, I can't wait." He said as he rang the doorbell. He rubbed his hands together in anxious joy as he awaited her arrival. After not getting a single note out on his piano, he decided he couldn't wait anymore to see Violet's face. He rang the doorbell again.

The door swung open and the raven haired beauty herself opened the door. "Miroku, what are you doing here?!"

"I know we agreed on tonight, but I can't wait. I just had to come see you."

"That's sweet but," She paused and looked behind her. "I don't think now is a good time."

"Violet, who is that at the door?!" A voice called.

"Who is that?"

"Um..." Violet said as she began to get nervous. She looked behind her then looked back at Miroku.
"Violet you better answer me girl." The voice preceeded

"Look, you have to go." Violet said

Now, he was getting curious and aggitated. "Why? Who's that?

"Don't worry about it." Violet said as she tried to "shoo" him away.

"Violet!" A woman said as she appeared at the front door. "Do you not hear me calling you, little girl?"

'Little girl?!' Miroku thought.

Violet lowered her head. "Forgive me, mother."

'Mother?!' Now he was getting scared.

"You have school in the morning. You just get in high school and now you're slacking off. I didn't go through thirteen hours of labor, and take care of your dirty diapers by myself to raise a slacker."

'Just got into high school!' Now he was terrified. "Um....I think I'll just go."

Violet's mother turned around ready to sting until...she saw his face. "Miroku?!"

"She told me she was eighteen!"

"What?!

“Huh?” Miroku said trying to cover up his outburst.

“Miroku Houshi, is that you?”

“Um...the one and only.” He quickly said.

The woman took a hand she got from Mississippi and slapped Miroku hard across the face. The impact was so hard Miroku could've sworn he saw a blue light flash before his eyes. He was taken back so far he didn't have any words as he held his scorching face.

"You have some nerve." She spat.

"Hey, lady what's your problem?" Miroku said rubbing his bruised cheek. He was use to it, but it still hurted.

"You don't remember. It was my senior year and you were a sophmore."

Miroku shrugged his shoulders. The one thing he hated was meeting a girl that claimed that he should be the one to remember them.

"Murai's party. You know...in the jucuzzi."

"Oh, Jun, um...wow....that was about...I don't know...fifteen years ago."He said before chuckling at his stupidity. "I always get myself into these predicaments." He whispered to no one in particular.

"You sure do have a knack for it, Houshi."

"Well, I'd better go." Miroku said quickly trying to get out of the odd situatuion. 'InuYasha is going to flip when he hears this.' "Bye, ladies, nice meeting up with you." He said walking down the three steps.

"How are you just going to leave? You haven't even stayed two seconds and now you're leaving." Jun said with a hand on her hip.

"I....um...have to be somewhere."

"Don't leave." She said grabbing his arm. "I'm really glad you're here."

"Well, you sure didn't have a great way of showing it." Miroku said rubbing his face.

"I'm sorry. You know I get carried away, but I think you dropping on my doorstep is a sign."

Miroku shook his head. "I doubt it's sign. I haven't seen you in fifteen years! You have a daughter whose in high school and..." Miroku paused to look at Violet closer. She looked like someone oddly familiar. 'Those eyes! They look like my mother’s' He mentally shouted. 'Fifteen years. Fifteen years.' He kept repeating through his mind before he gathered all of the events in his mind.

"Violet.”

The girl perked up and smiled. “Yes, Miroku. I mean, Mr. Houshi.”

“How old are you?” He asked. “And don’t lie.”

Violet put her head down. “I’m fifteen, sir.”

“Oh, dear god.” Miroku said before blacked out.

A/n: I’m soooooo sorry for taking so long.
