Inuyasha looked off into the glass of the subway car as the lights passed over the group of four like an electric charge. His ears flicked under his bandana, the girls where sitting across from him and Miroku talking and giggling about something. “Inuyasha…” she said “I am so sorry… when did you lose you mom?”

 

“She died along time ago so just forget it.” He said crossing his arms causing Kagome to move back cross the aisle.

The train motioned to a stop beneath them. “Could we, ” He said poking Inuyasha “at least as gentlemen walk you ladies home?”

 

“No I live not to far from the station, near the Dojo that we train at Miroku.” She said standing.

With that settled now in his mind, his focus now turned to Miroku sitting on the bench.

“He'll be fine,” Inuyasha said with a blush “Are you ready to go?”

 

“Yes ” she said leading the way down the stairs.

 

Pausing half way down the stairs behind Kagome, Inuyasha turned to yell back at Miroku.

 

“And Yo Miroku, I will see you tomorrow after I am done teaching my class. Come by my office if you ever get off that bench tonight” Inuyasha said with a laugh

 

Kagome's eyes widened at the words `teaching his class ' and `office' . <He's a professor? > She thought. Just then she felt Inuyasha's warm hand hit against her lower back pushing her coat into her body.

 

“So which way did you say the shrine was?” Inuyasha asked her smiling

 

“It's not to further just up this street and up long flight of stairs.” She said looking back up at him “Are you sure that you don't mind doing this?”

 

“Naw..not really I have to admit that when I knew you worked at the shrine, I was really happy because now I have another reason to come out and be there other than my parents.” Inuyasha said sadly

 

A few seconds of silence fell in between them.

 

“Inuyasha do you mind if I ask you about them?” Kagome said quietly

 

“No,” he said inhaling deeply “that's fine”

 

“So what happened to them?”

 

Inuyasha went on to tell her that the reason he loved the shrine so much was because of his father proposing to his mother underneath that large ancient tree on the grounds. And that after he was born it was often a common occurrence within his family to and pray at the shine. He stated that the only time that he truly felt happy with his parents was in the shadow of that great tree. The roses he went on to tell her for his parents who died.

 

Just as they reached the top of the great staircase Kagome looked at him.

 

“Look I am sorry to bring up sad memories” she said

 

“Feh,” he shook his head “its nothing it happened along time ago, but since we are here do you mind if I sit underneath the tree for a few minutes before I head home.”

 

“Sure Inuyasha” she said

 

“Your parents won't mind? ” He questioned

 

“My parents?” She said “I don't have any parents, they died along time ago, but lets not talk about it tonight. I will have to tell you sometime, but not tonight”

 

Grabbing her hand they headed to the tree.
