Chapter 4 A Long Night

 

Pushing the door open Kagome grabbed Inuyasha by the hand leading him into the house. They quietly took their shoes off in the mud room.

 

“Inuyasha,” She said setting her coat down, “if you want to sit I will start us some tea so that we can talk.”

 

Kagome rattled through various cabinets and drawers before she finally said “I only have decaf Green tea I hope that is ok?”

 

“Yeah that is fine.” Inuyasha said staring at the bleeding wound on Kagome's neck.

 

He's eyes wondered around the kitchen as he began to trial off in thought <Did I really mark her? > He began <and if so then that means that my beast has already chosen its mate, gods I hope that I can reverse this for her benefit.>

 

Just then Inuyasha smelled fresh blood flow of Kagome as she reached up to the cabinet to get two cups. “Aw damn that hurts” she moved her hand to find fresh blood on it.

 

Grabbing Kagome and backing her into a cabinet Inuyasha looked down from his dominate position over her. “Kagome you have opened your wound again please let me tend to you.” He slowly drew back her shirt caller and began to lick her wound slowing covering all of the area with his saliva. While he was tending her she slowly drew her hand up to his ears and began to rub the left ear in gentle circles, not before to long a deep soothing growl began to emanate from Inuyasha's chest.  Keeping the growl low and soft he pulled her closer ever more loving tending to her. After a long time of gently licking her skin to the point for numbing, Inuyasha stood looked at Kagome.

 

“My salvia has a numbing effect to it that will help clean your wound. The bleeding has stopped now but we need to make sure that your do not use that shoulder much the next few days. Where is your first aid so I can cover the wound?”

 

 

Pointing with the left hand she pointed to the cabinet behind Inuyasha. “It's in there.” She said.

 

“Come here and sit” he said moving the chair out for her. “Kagome are you sure that you are ok?” He asked opening the first aid kit to wrap her wound.

 

“Yes I think so, just feel really charged that's all. You know I think something funny happened with our auras when you marked me. I feel like I have a lot of new energy and its weird I can almost feel you now. It's almost like you are now an extension of my aura. I sense you concern for my well-being and also…. I …..don't know how to describe the other feeling that I have…. its… its almost a weight on my heart. Tell me Inuyasha, how do you feel?” she asked

“'bout the same, but I can almost feel every emotion that you have, it's really weird but I knew you where in pain when you reached up my shoulder began to hurt. I almost feel a need to protect you. That must be why our auras burst out of us, I think that they knew that we must have been mates in a pervious incarnation.” Inuyasha said finding the fine listen bandages that were in the first aid kit

 

“How about your visions, I know that we shared when we were kissing” she said with a red face. “but have you been having them too?”

 

“You did share that vision with me? ” Inuyasha said turning red “feh, I have been having them ever since I saw you at the shrine that one day, the one thing that I remembered about you was that you had on the red scarf. But anytime I would think of the shrine I have a vision. Sometimes of me mating you…” he said turning a deeper shade of red “ well someone who favors you. How about you, how long?”

 

“How many weeks ago did you come to the shrine?” Kagome said

 

“Two weeks ago” Inuyasha said

 

“Yes I think that was when mine started as well and the visions are similar. You ...well havin…mating me but it is not my name that you call it is a women… who is me… I think her name was Kikyo… Kikyo I know that I have heard that name before.” Kagome said.

 

“Kagome I need your wound is deeper then I first thought” He said taking a breath “I need you to take your shirt off so that I can tend it some more and wrap it properly, please” Inuyasha said

 

“It is done bleeding for the time being first I need to ask you something.” Kagome began

“I know that you are a dog demon, I have from the first time you where sitting in the restaurant looking at me. The white hair and the golden eyes gave it away, but how come you have dog-ears? From most of the scrolls here at the shrine, dog demons don't have dog ears.”

 

“huh” Inuyasha took in breath “its because I am a half demon, a hanyo, in other words my father was a great dog demon and my mother was human, there has only been one other half demon in my family. His name was Inuyasha, as is mine, back five hundred years ago in the Dark Ages of Japan. That is all that I really know my half-brother is not really forth coming with things when it has to do with our father. ”

 

“Now may I please tend your wound?” Inuyasha asked.

 

“One more question.” Kagome said. “How do you know that your saliva has healing properties?”

 

“Well in college, I had a roommate that was studying demons, a scientist and he found it by mistake really but its been proven…. so can I please tend to your wound?” Inuyasha said reaching for her shirttail.

 

“Yes” Kagome said

 

Inuyasha slowly unbuttoned her shirt starting with the one closest to the shirt tail then working his way up. When he had finished he pulled the left half of her shirt over her shoulder and exposed the marking. He began so every carefully first moving along her skin with his fingers and looking at what mussels he had hit.

 

“Come here closer to me” Inuyasha whispered

 

Inuyasha led Kagome by the hand towards pushing himself against the counter and pulling her to him. Inuyasha titled her head and laid a gentle kiss along her cheekbone.

<This is my mark. > He thought as he began to lay gentle kisses and nips down her neck. As he continued he felt his pants beginning to tighten as he licked and tended to her wound lovingly. Kagome wanted more as her hands snake under Inuyasha's shirt, while he was busy with her. She allowed her fingers to crawl up the sides of his ribbed mussels.

A low growl emitted from Inuyasha's chest as he began to touch his mark with his tongue. Kagome closed her eyes as the sensations become more and more soft. Kagome with drew her hands from Inuyasha's shirt; grabbing her hands he pulled both around his back, until she was completely encircled around his waist. Lowering one hand he began to snake around her back and hold her tightly to him. When he was sure the area was adequately numb Inuyasha began to kiss and nip softly along Kagome's neck until he reached her cheek. He kissed her softly just as the teakettle started to whistle. Kagome jumped and Inuyasha placed one more kiss on her lips.

 

“I will get it, ” He said pushing her back towards the chair “after I pull the kettle we need to cover that wound, where are your cups at?”

 

“Ok ” she said, “They are in the cabinet above the rice jar.”

 

Inuyasha pulled the teakettle and began to make some tea as Kagome stared off around the kitchen. Realizing that her shirt was still undone she pulled the two sides together with a shiver. Inuyasha returned to her side with to cups of tea, setting one down in front of her, he looked at her. “Ok” he said, “let me take one more look.”

 

Opening her shirt on last time Inuyasha took out some gauze and tape and covered the wound. “That should do it.” He said putting the first aid kit back together “If you don't mind I would like to take care of it until the wound heals?”

 

“I guess that would be ok” Kagome said

 

“Allowing me to tend to like I have should reduce the scaring and allow it to breathe. If you shower it is going to hurt so try and keep it dry for the most part but you can clean it just use Anti-bacterial on it.” Inuyasha said pulling out at seat across the table and sitting down with a cup of tea.

 

“So what do you think the connection is between my ancestor and yours?” Kagome asked sipping on her tea.

 

“Well,” Inuyasha started after taking a sip of tea “I am not to sure, we will have to research it. Speaking of which, do you have any family documents or tree that might explain who Kikyo is?”

 

“Hmm.. ”Kagome thought standing up “Oh yeah I forgot, Come on with me there is the library that my grandfather had and the scrolls.”

 

They walked through the bottom part of the house to the library.

Many hours and Many scrolls of old parchment later….

 

 

“Here it is Inuyasha…” Kagome said rounding one of the scrolls over “Kikyo, here she is in my line. It looks like she was a priestess here at the shrine over five-hundred years ago about --”

 

“The same time as my ancestor named Inuyasha was alive.” Inuyasha said interrupting Kagome.

 

Inuyasha stood from his place beside Kagome “I wonder what that means?” He thought out loud.

 

“I don't know but I remember the story of how the shrine was founded something about the Sacred Jewel, I will have to look though some more books in the shrine to make sure.” Kagome said yawning and looking at her watch.

 

“Wow is it really 3 am?” Kagome said

 

“Yes it is” Inuyasha said looking at his watch

 

“That's great we have been at this for hours and nothing but only a few things” Kagome said “I have shrine duty only in a few hours and a 7 o'clock class, it's a new one. Demons in the Lore of Ancient Japan. Man I wish that the professor would cancel it.” She finished with a yawn.

 

“You know I don't think the rest of my student would like that to much” Inuyasha said with a snicker.

 

“What do you mean?” Kagome said looking at him blankly.

“What's the last name of the professor teaching it?” Inuyasha asked

 

“Erutan ?” she said “why? Oh don't tell me your teaching it?”

 

“Yes actually. ” he said with a laugh

 

“Its ok I guess a little sleep is better than none at all ” she said

 

“Don't worry about it ” Inuyasha said “I will be more tired than you because I have to still walk back home tonight.”

 

“No…..no I think that you should stay here” Kagome said with a blush “What will happen if my wound reopens?” <Oh my gods did I say that.>

 

“Well I..” Inuyasha said with a yawn “guess that would be ok. It will give me some more time to research in your library and for me spending the night I can help you with your shrine duties in the morning if you like?” He said

 

“I think that will be good. You can sleep in the spare room upstairs next to mine. There should be some clean sheets and I have some extra shower stuff if you would like a shower.” She said setting the books and scrolls down on the floor.

 

“You want me to help you clean this up?” Inuyasha asked

 

“No….” she said with a yawn “Its fine, I will be doing some more research so no worries just leave it.”

After showing Inuyasha the rest of the house, the bathroom and spare bedroom. She took a shower followed by him and then proceed to go to bed.

 

Setting the alarm on her dresser she slipped into the sheets and began to sleep.

 

Dreaming suddenly she was in pain

 

“Inuyasha …” She heard herself scream in Kikyo's voice “Why did you betray me?”

 

Drawing her arrow tight she waited for Inuyasha to jump. With a thong on the bow the arrow was released.

 

“haa” she heard as it hit Inuyasha square in the chest going through his flesh and into the Scared tree.

 

Looking behind her she saw a trial of her own blood. She was dieing.

 

“Ki..ki.. Kikyo” he said pulling lifting a hand “Why… ?” Inuyasha's eyes closed and he died there against the tree a white light purifying him into a pile of dust.

 

Burning his hand dropped the scared jewel.

 

Kagome walked over a picked it up. Then closing her eye she took one last breath, Kikyo's last breath.

 

Pulling in air she began to cough as she realized she was safe and her covers were wet with blood.

 

Smelling the blood from the next room Inuyasha sprang through. “Are you alright?” he ask

 

She was crying holding her side; Inuyasha cradled her in his arms and tried to find where the blood was coming from.

 

“Kagome are you alright?”

Only finding out half of the story Kagome dreams of Kikyo killing Inuyasha. What will happen to Kagome next ?
