Chapter One
A new home and sounds in the night
"Wow! Kagome this place is HUGE." Sango, Kagome's best friend yelled making her voice echo around the empty and dust filled parlor.
"Yeah it is pretty huge. I hope I have enough money to renovate it all, my dad isn't made of money and I don't want to turn to mom." Kagome said setting down her bags. "Kagome you have to be kidding me! Your dad IS made of money and you know it."(*1) Sango stated.
"I just don't like to keep on taking money from him I feel like I'm stealing it." Kagome confessed. "Oh just give up the modest act. I know you love all the money he gives you." Sango scoffed.
"Well I had better go. You know how Kohaku is when I'm late home. I'll come tomorrow to help you look for some things left behind. Who knows, if the old Irazi man had enough money to build this house he might have had some really great stuff. (*2) With any luck we might hit the jackpot." Sango said putting her hands in her pockets and closing the huge oak double doors that led to the expansive porch and lawn. (*3)
*** Flashback ***
Kagome Higurashi had asked her dad to by her a home since she was 25 and still living with her overprotective mother. When her dad had shown her the house he had gotten she was astounded.
It was an old 500-year Victorian home. (*4)
It had been passed down to each generation of Irazi. The last owner Inutotsu Irazi died 50 years ago, leaving it to his son. The son stayed there for a year with his assigned fiancée.
Later it was said that he killed her the day before their wedding since her didn't love her. Many say that her spirit followed him and put a curse on him. A few days after the incident with the fiancées the young son of Inutotsu disappeared.
Some people say the he threw himself into the furnace to get away from his fiancée's soul but others say that the lady asked the devil to pull him down to the fiery depths.
Kagome didn't believe a word of it and decided to keep the house while her dad paid for the mortgage.
Her dad owned a big corporation so he had millions of money. All Kagome had to do was decided what she wanted it to look like then tell her dad and have him hire the workers.
That was the reason she felt so guilty and made it seem like her dad didn't have a lot of money.
*** End Flashback ***
Kagome jumped at a shuffling sound under her feet. The lady at the office had made sure to check for mice and rats before selling.
Kagome found the winding steps and saw that old-fashioned light fixtures were hanging above her head.
Kagome headed down what she guessed was around forty steps. (*5)
A dusty basement was lit by ten small windows that barely peeked above the ground and a few more old fashioned lights.
"Wow look at all this stuff." Kagome whistled. Millions of old sheets were draped over tons of lumpy objects. Kagome pulled off one sheets, getting her hands covered in dust. She lifted it and found it covered old paintings. (*6)
She pulled out a few of them but stopped when she heard what sounded suspiciously like a cough and a moan. `Must be the wind.' She thought even though she knew that it was a perfectly calm day.
She looked over the paintings and marveled at the texturing and detail.
The one Kagome had grabbed practically shone by itself. It was a young boy around the age of ten stood in the center of a dark room. He had long platinum hair that reached down to mid back it shone like the moon. His eyes were as bright and as beautiful as the sunset and adorable little dog-ears were perching daintily on the top of his head. He held a sword up on his shoulder and his mouth was drawn up into a slight smirk. (*7)
"So, beautiful." Kagome sighed stroking the ears as if they were real. She set it by the stairs so she would remember to take it upstairs.
Kagome decided to search a bit more. She stopped when she saw a plain old blanket hanging up against the wall. When she touched it Kagome saw it wasn't covered in dust like the other ones. "How strange." She lifted it up and looked at nothing but a wall.
She put her hand on the wall and felt it push in. Kagome knocked and heard it echo inside. She ran her hand around the wall and felt it snag on a hook. (*8)
She linked her ring finger around it and pulled. The wall gave a prolonged groan and opened reluctantly.
Kagome gasped at what was inside. She couldn't believe her eyes.

I hate cliffhangers. It's just like having your piano teacher make you stop at a specific point like maybe the climax on your favorite song and you aren't allowed to go on. That happens all the time on really good stories and you just have to wait till the writer starts the story again. I'm a piano student learning under the best teacher in my whole state. She is turning me into her apprentice and I really don't have much time to write so don't hurt me.
Enjoy this story and tell me if I should keep up this try of a story.
I know that those star things were annoying but I really wanted to put them there they won't be in the next chapter I promise!
1- my Oma (Grandmother in German) is practically made of money!
2- when I moved into my new home I though exactly the same thing.
3- I have a very expansive porch and lawn.
4- that house is my house. It was all run down and horrible looking so I had Oma give me some money to fix it up. Now in my opinion I have the oldest and best looking home in town!
5- excerpt from an old book of my aunt's or was it from a Nancy Drew book? Oh well.
6- those paintings were in my basement.
7- the painting I described there was originally drawn by my mom's best friend Mary and I put it on canvas and colored it. I would put it on Media Miner but I have no scanner.
8- that snag and hook was 1: In my old home and 2: in my favorite book a friend of mine wrote.
