It was dark and rainy, a horrible night to be late coming home from the library.  And that's what Kagome Higurashi was doing.  She had been sick with the flu and she had to make up all her missed schoolwork.

She was running home as fast as she could because she had a bad feeling that something was going to happen that wasn't good.  She had this feeling for the past week.  Along with these strange dreams that frightened her more and more every time that she had them.

She looked as she crossed the road; the streets of Tokyo were still busy at nine at night.  All she could think about was the dream.  She heard a voice whispering to her, 'you must die before you can truly live'.  That phrase she wrote down in her journal.

'Shit!!' she thought.  She had remembered that she left her journal out on her bed.  Now her little brother Sota would read it.  'Damn!'

She was walking faster to her home.  Her house was a shrine that was the main shrine in the area.  She walked past the small park that was right down the street from her home when she heard a small whimper from the park.

Kagome stopped and looked into the park.  She saw a small figure sitting on the swing.  It looked like a little girl.

"Hello?" Kagome cried out to the girl.  She walked over cautiously ignoring everything that her instincts were telling her.  She approached the girl, who sounded like she was crying.

"Hey are you ok?"  She asked in concern for the young girl.  The girl sniffled and looked up.  Though her face was still hidden in shadows.  The girls' whimpers soon turned into small vicious snickering.

"I'm fine. But you won't be." The girl laughed and her image changed into a full-grown woman.  Kagome stepped back in fear.

"What…what's going on here?"  Kagome asked.

The girl stepped into the light.  Kagome gasped.  The woman looked exactly like her.

"Who are you?"  Kagome asked.  "What do you want with me?"  The lady laughed.

"I don't want anything with you." She whispered into Kagome's ear. "It's what my mate wants." She paused for a moment.

"What does he want with me? I haven't done anything."  Kagome screamed.

"Not yet."  The lady said and she disappeared.

Kagome looked around rapidly.  It was completely dark and Kagome couldn't see anything.  Kagome's instincts were going wild; all she could sense was anger and fear around her.  She wanted out, she turned around and ran.  She couldn't see where she was going.  All she knew was that she had to get away.

Running in the dark she couldn't see any of the obstacles of the playground.  All her senses were gone.  No sight, no sound, nothing, nothing was there.

"AHHHH!!!!" Kagome screamed as someone grabbed her from behind.  She was pushed up against a tree.

"Hush little girl."  A cold a voice whispered into her ear.  "You won't be able to mess with my future now."  His hands went around her throat and started to strangle her.  Tears started to roll down her face.

"Now, now, don't cry."  He whispered to her again.  "You'll be dead by the end."

One of his hands stayed on her neck while the other one went up her school skirt.

"Please…" she muttered while gasping for air, "don't…. no…."  'I'm going to be raped and killed.' Were her last thoughts before she slipped into unconsciousness.

&nb sp;  "What the FUCK!?"  Screamed an enraged hanyou.  InuYasha was pacing around the room while waiting for his friend.  Though he would never admit that they were friends.

&nb sp;  A tall man with a silky purple shirt, black pants, shoulder length black hair pulled into a ponytail at the base of his neck and a piece of fabric and prayer beads wrapped around his hand entered the room with a young teenager that couldn't have been more than 15 following him.

&nb sp;  "Miroku where the hell have you been?"  Snapped InuYasha. "We're late."

&nb sp;  "Relax, Yash." Said Miroku in his normally calm voice.  "I just had to get Sota ready to go out, he is my apprentice after all."

&nb sp;  Sota looked up at Miroku with admiration in his eyes.  Which made Miroku chuckle.

&nb sp;  "You may find this hilarious, but Kikyo is on the war path so let's go." Snapped InuYasha sarcastically as he stormed out of the room.  Both Miroku and Sota frowned.

&nb sp;  "I don't like her," said Sota with sorrow laced in his voice. "She may look like my big sister and have holy powers but she is not anything like her."

&nb sp;  Miroku looked at him. "Your sister?"

&nb sp;  Sota looked to the ground and sniffed slightly so to fight back the tears.  Miroku put his hand on the boy.

&nb sp;  "You don't have to tell."  Miroku said to the boy, remembering the loss of his family.

&nb sp;  "No," Sota said shaking his head. "I must tell."  A gleam a determination and anger passed through his eyes.  "She was murdered, that's why I'm here.  To find her killer, she'd do the same for me.  She was fifteen, she went missing, the only clues were that she was attacked at the park, after that the trail went cold.  The reason that I don't like Kikyo is that she's knows something, I may not be fully developed with my powers but I know she had something to do with it."

&nb sp;  Miroku looked at the kid with astonishment.  "You said she looked like your sister."

&nb sp;  "Yes, but my sister was prettier," Sota said proudly. "Kagome's hair was shorter and wavy, she always wore it down.  Her eyes were blue as the ocean, with hints of grey.  There was something calming about her; it was 7 years ago that it happened

&nb sp;  Sota looked up at Miroku.  "She had something that the person wanted.  I read her journal, she was having weird dreams something about her having to die to live, and at the beginning there was something about a jewel."  Sota clenched his fists and wiped the invisible tears that were coming down. Then smiled at Miroku.

&nb sp;  "You'd have loved her." He said to Miroku.  Miroku smiled back at Sota.

&nb sp;  "I know I would've."  He responded and looked Sota directly in the eyes. "I promise that I'll help you with your sisters' case.  But now we've gotta run otherwise InuYasha's gonna shit a cow."

&nb sp;  The two young men shared a laugh and began to walk out.

&nb sp;  "I don't like her either," Said Miroku as they were walking.  "There's something not right about her, I can't figure it out but I know that we're not the only ones that don't like her."

&nb sp;  They went off to the club that they had their meeting at.  They were in a gang that ran the underworld of Tokyo, InuYasha and his brother ran it.   Shessho-maru was full demon, and had a mate who was a human named Rin, she was bright and bubbly, opposite of him.  InuYasha hadn't taken Kikyo as his mate but they fucked like rabbits.  But there was no love between them.  Kikyo was there for power and he would never trust anyone, but never get close to anyone.  She was the first person to befriend him, he being a Hanyou he was rejected by a lot and it would take something drastic for him to leave her.  Like her betrayal (which a lot of people suspected but none voiced because they wanted their lives) or he found his life mate (Which dog demons found by scent).

&nb sp;  There were many gangs in Tokyo, but most served under Shessho-maru and InuYasha, but there was this one gang that was rivaling the gang and was lead by an evil demon, that's what everyone thought, named Naraku.  He was a power hungry and greedy person with no respect for anything.  The rumour was that he found the Shikon no Tama but he lost it and was on the warpath to get it.

&nb sp;  But what no one knew or could ever suspect was that this hideous fighting and the search for the ultimate power was going to come to an end.  At the hands of a girl 'killed' seven years earlier.  No one could guess that she would be the one power that no one could defeat and the one power that everyone would want, but only one man could have.  She was a rare type of demon, like her brother and father, but she would master it, master the power and find her revenge.   No one would ever know that she was hiding right under their noses, or should I say feet, until that day that she came back and began to fight.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

&nb sp;  It was like an eternal abyss.  She was just floating in an endless space.  She couldn't remember anything but she could feel, and she felt everything from love to a burning desire for revenge.  She had been in this state for a long time but was at peace and learning herself, power and heart.

&nb sp;  It was now time for her to awaken to get what was hers; revenge.  Her eyes snapped open with energy like lightening had struck her.

&nb sp;  She looked around.  She realized that she was underground; she didn't know how she was breathing or even what breathing was.  But with all the energy and instinct that she could find she pulled herself up.  She pulled herself up three whole metres from underneath the earth.

&nb sp;  When she finally hit the surface she looked around and noticed it was nighttime and that she was in a playground.  She pulled herself out from the ground.  If anyone had been watching it would have looked like she was coming out of water.

&nb sp;  She was naked and it was a cool night.  She realized that she didn't like this.  Again acting on instinct she, leaves and vines wrapped around her body.  It looked as if it came out of her sink but what really happened was that she transformed the seeds on her body and grew them.  They lived off her life force; they became her extra skin of sorts.

&nb sp;  She walked over to the tree that she was near and sat down leaning against it.  She jumped up as she heard a whispered.

         &nb sp;  'Child you live'

&nb sp;  She looked around and noticed that no one was there.

&nb sp;  'Child, go to Lady Keade, she will help.'

&nb sp;  She saw the tree and realized that it was the tree talking to her.

&nb sp;  'Go and follow your instincts, your memory will return in time. GO.'

&nb sp;  The girl nodded and ran.  She didn't know where to but her feet seemed to know what her brain did not.  Running down the back streets of Tokyo at three in the morning to reach where she was supposed to be.

&nb sp;  She ran clear across town and found a very old shire hidden between two large houses.  She walked up the steps and into the house.  As she entered she noticed a strong smell of herbs and walked further in passing the kitchen and into the main room.

         &nb sp;  BBAAAMMMM

&nb sp;  The door slammed with a loud bang.  The girl jumped and hid in the first place that she could find.  Which happened to be a bedroom.  She felt around and found a switch and unintentionally flipped it on.  The lights in the room went on, revealing a bed with an old woman lay asleep.

&nb sp;  The girl took no notice of anything but the lights.  She continued to play with the lights until the old woman roused.  Upon seeing the girl she made no noise but watched her.  After five minutes she coughed.

&nb sp;  The girl jumped at the sound and connected herself to the ceiling.  The vines had shot out and went into the wall and ceiling like claws.  The girl turned around and saw the old lady.  She was getting out of the bed and looking at the girl.  When they made eye contact she smiled.  The girl began to lower herself to the lady with the vines.

&nb sp;  "Come child," said the old woman as she sat back on the bed. "I am Keade, and I've been waiting for you.  The spirits told of your arrival, the miko half-demon that would come from the earth."

&nb sp;  The girl had reached the floor and was walking towards Keade, the vines were still embedded into the wall and ceiling.  So the girl could escape at anytime.  She walked to the woman and looked at her.

&nb sp;  "Sit" said Keade.  The girl sat on the bed.  It was bouncy and the girl bounced a little, causing a smile and the vines to retract into her body.  She bounced a little more until Keade's hand went towards her knee.

&nb sp;  "Now let's get you cleaned and fed, shall we?"  Said Keade as she got up and began to leave the room.  The girl followed.

&nb sp;  The room was dark and gloomy and smoke penetrated the air making it difficult to breathe.  The meeting was on going and boring, especially for a 15-year-old boy.  Sota looked around, his mentor was sitting next to him and a woman sat on the other side of him.  Her name was Sango, she was one of the few females that was in the higher rankings, her brother Kohaku sat next to her.  InuYasha and Kikyo were next to them and Rin and Shessho-maru in front of everyone.

&nb sp;  Sota was listening to the meeting, or at least made it look like he was.  But for a reason that he couldn't put his finger on he just felt as if he had to be somewhere else.  He reached out with his powers to see if anyone else felt it too.  What came to a shock to Sota was that InuYasha had the same feeling, though his anxiety just showed through his bad mood and no one thought otherwise.

&nb sp;  Around 2 o'clock in the morning when the meeting was closing up Sota anxiety turned.  He jumped slightly, causing everyone to look out him.

&nb sp;  "Miroku, do something about your apprentice."  Shessho-maru said in his normal emotionless voice.  Miroku grabbed Sota and picked him up to bring him out of the room.  But by the time he got Sota to stand up Sota collapsed gasping for breath. After about three minutes he stopped.  Sota looked up at Miroku.

&nb sp;  "Something's going to happen."  He said in a soft whisper.  Miroku inquisitively looked at him.  Sango, Rin, Kohaku and InuYasha, though InuYasha stayed further back than the rest, gather around him.  Sota was known for predicting the future along with his spiritual powers, but never like this before.

&nb sp;  "What's going to happen?" Asked Rin as she put his head in her lap.  Sota began to struggle, one because of Shessho-maru, two because he needed to go, find what he was looking for.

&nb sp;  "I need to go."  He struggled and muttered.  "I have to find her."

&nb sp;  InuYasha's curiosity perked up.  Lately he'd been having a dream of a girl that he wanted but couldn't find. 'Maybe he knows' He thought to himself.

&nb sp;  Miroku finally grabbed Sota and took him away from Rin.

&nb sp;  "I'll take him to Keade's, that may help."  He muttered.  Shessho-maru nodded "I'm going with." InuYasha said.  Everyone looked at him and he growled.  "Piss off."

&nb sp;  With that Miroku and InuYasha took Sota to Keade's house, unknowing of what they were going to encounter.

&nb sp;  Keade ran the bath while the girl watched the hot water flow out of the nozzle.  Keade grabbed some towels from the closet next to the tub and placed them on the toilette. She noticed the leaves and vines that formed a dress for the girl.

&nb sp;  "You're going to have to remove your clothing dear."  Keade said to the girl.  The girl looked up.

&nb sp;  "I'm not wearing clothing though."  She said and looked at Keade.  Keade smiled.

&nb sp;  "Of course you aren't.  Well it doesn't matter, you'll still have to remove your garments."  She responded.  The girl nodded and the leaves and vines that had formed a skintight dress for her slowly disappeared, looking as if they were sinking into her body.   But their place was left scarring from what looked like an attack.

&nb sp;  Keade saw them and frowned but didn't say anything.  She turned off the water and told the girl to get in.  The girl did, slowly but did.

&nb sp;  "Where did you come from girl?" Asked Keade.  The girl looked up from washing herself and looked very pensive for a moment before responding.

&nb sp;  "It is called the park, I think."  The girl said. "Near the area called the playground."

&nb sp;  "So you came from the park."

         &nb sp;  "No underneath it."

&nb sp;  "Underneath it."  Keade was confused. "You mean you were buried?"

&nb sp;  "No I don't think so."  The girl pouted. "If I was buried then I shouldn't have been able to breathe."  Keade smiled and nodded, she knew what this girl was, she was a demon.  A very rare one, an earth demon, and their powers only awoken once they came back from death.  So it was very rare to find them and this girl was a half demon.  She could tell because she had a similar aura to that of another half demon that she knew.  She could also tell that this girl was a miko as well, which made her very powerful.  But now that she knew what the girl was all she needed to know was who she was.

&nb sp;  Keade looked at the girl again, who had seemed to know what she was doing on instinct or some memories.

&nb sp;  "Do you remember how long you were underneath the earth?"  Keade asked.  The girl looked up again and thought for a moment.

&nb sp;  "When the play ground was new is when I went under."  She replied.

&nb sp;  "And which play ground was it?"

&nb sp;  "One far from here."

&nb sp;  There weren't too many playgrounds with parks so that left three parks.  Keade frowned; she knew she needed more information to find out who the girl was.  Then she could have Sota or Kohaku do research on deaths in parks.

&nb sp;  "Do you remember anything else of the park?" Keade asked.

&nb sp;  "There was a black fence around the trees and grass."  The girl responded.  That was it, Keade knew where she was talking about.  It was the park next to the Higurashi Shire.  Keade gasped.  This was the missing girl from seven years ago, she thought of Sota and saw the resemblance.

&nb sp;  "Do you know who you are child?"  She asked the girl in the tub.

&nb sp;  "No Lady Keade." She responded.

&nb sp;  "You are Higurashi Kagome, you went missing seven years ago in that very park."  Keade said.  "I don't know anything else about you though."  Kagome looked at the old woman and nodded.  They stayed quiet for a few minutes when a voice from downstairs bellowed up.

&nb sp;  "OI, HAG GET HERE NOW?"

&nb sp;  Keade shook her head and muttered something about stupid dogs.  While Kagome stayed in the tub.  Before leaving Keade turned around.

&nb sp;  "Stay in here Kagome and don't leave."  She said as she shut the door.  The girl didn't have any intentions of moving she was warm and having fun.

&nb sp;  InuYasha, Miroku and Sota were in the main room of the house waiting for Keade to come down.  Sota was laying on the couch in what seemed to be a trance like state.  He was sweating profusely and was muttering nonsense.

&nb sp;  InuYasha was pacing around the room impatiently.  Miroku was trying to help Sota become more stable, which wasn't helping much.  InuYasha sniffed around for a few minutes, catching Miroku's attention.

&nb sp;  "What is it?" Asked Miroku.

&nb sp;  "I don't know."  Answered InuYasha, who sounded confused about it.  "It smells like a person but a flower, jasmine and something else.  It smells really good."

&nb sp;  Miroku looked at him strangely.  InuYasha continued to sniff around the room as Keade came down the stairs.

&nb sp;  "What is it that you scream for me at this hour InuYasha, I do need sleep you know."  Keade said calmly.

&nb sp;  "Can it hag, it's not like you were sleeping when we got here."  Snapped InuYasha as he turned around to face Keade.

&nb sp;  "True, I had an unexpected visitor.  She needed some help and it is my duty to help all those in need. Whether I like them or not."  She muttered the last part.  InuYasha growled at her.  Before InuYasha could say anymore Miroku intervened.

&nb sp;  "You must forgive him Lady Keade, he's quite upset at the scent he can't identify and it seems to be seeping through to his sunny disposition."  Miroku said with a gleam a mischief in his eyes.  InuYasha was about to say something when Miroku slapped a ward on his mouth.

&nb sp;  "But there are more pressing matters to attend to, my young apprentice has fallen into some trace or illness that we cannot identify, maybe you might know the cause and cure."  Miroku finished.  Keade nodded and was guided to the couch by Miroku.

&nb sp;  "What is his name monk?  I sense great power within him, you are training him are you not?" She asked as she took the wet cloth from the boy's head and changed it for a different cooler cloth.

&nb sp;  "His name is Higurashi Sota and I am training him."  Miroku replied solemnly.  Keade perked up.

&nb sp;  "As in the Higurashi Shrine, Higurashi?"  She asked as she walked to her kitchen to grab some herbs.  She didn't know why but some form of fear was building in her.  Kagome didn't need to see anyone yet and they didn't need to know of her existence.  Plus if the boy was fully related to her that meant he had the same blood running through his veins making him quite powerful also.

&nb sp;  "Yes."  Replied Miroku following her to help, "That's the one.  He's from a family of priests and priestesses.  He is that last of this line in his family since his sister was murdered seven years ago.

&nb sp;  Keade wobbled a bit and started to fall.  Miroku caught her; he could hear InuYasha snickering behind him.

&nb sp;  "What is it?" Asked Miroku as Keade put the herbs away that she had just taken out.

&nb sp;  "I don't think that this illness that young Sota suffers from is anything that can be cured with medication." She responded.  Miroku looked shocked and InuYasha was completely still.  They had dealt with every form of trouble and danger imaginable but they never had to deal with something they could fix.

&nb sp;  "What do you mean?  How can it not be? He has a fever and breaking out in a cold sweat."  Miroku was trying to remain cool but inside he was panicking.  To him Sota was his little brother, he had been caring for him for the past four almost five years.  InuYasha was no better except he wasn't talking.

&nb sp;  "What has Sota told you about his past?" Keade asked.  Miroku still looked in a panic.

&nb sp;  "The he was raise in a shrine, his father died before he was born, he had a sister seven years older than him that was murdered and his grandfather died a year later and his mother was put in the hospital for depression.  So that's the basis of his life, why? What has this got to do with anything?"

&nb sp;  Keade sat down at her kitchen table and put the cloths next to her.

&nb sp;  "You sense his power right monk, InuYasha?"  She began, as they both nodded.  "I believe that he may be a half demon."

&nb sp;  Both InuYasha and Miroku gave her shocked looks.  Miroku was about to say something but was cut off by Keade.

&nb sp;  "You want the rest of my theory or not?"  She snapped, she was old and tired and just really wanted to go to bed, so she was loosing her temper a bit. "Ok, Miroku you've studied demons right?"  He nodded.  "Then you know about earth demons."

&nb sp;  "Yes they're extremely rare because they have to be killed to come back with their powers, until then they just look human.  Most even forgot their heritage so there are probably no full blooded ones left in the world.  If any at all."

&nb sp;  "Most of that is true, but they are still around.  They around subconsciously attracted to their own kind so there are many full-blooded earth demons left they just don't know it.  Do you know of what happens when one comes back?"

&nb sp;  Miroku shook his head. "There haven't been any recordings of them coming back."

&nb sp;  "No the only stuff that is known is that they come back only if killed and after that they are extremely powerful.  Nothing about what happens to their family."  She said in almost a whisper.

&nb sp;  "Are you implying that Sota's sister is alive and well?"  Asked Miroku.  Keade sighed.

&nb sp;  "InuYasha, take this to Sota."  Said Keade as she handed him a new cloth.  InuYasha was pissed he wanted to hear the rest, but knowing the old woman he knew that she could enchant his ass into oblivion.  He grumbled and walked out to the other room.  He could still hear what they were talking about though.

&nb sp;  Keade turned to Miroku and nodded slightly.  Miroku understood what she was implying and nodded back.  Neither wanted InuYasha to hear, nor Sota.  Plus they didn't know what to do with the girl.

&nb sp;  "She remembers nothing."  Keade whispered.  "And I don't know what she will do if she does regain all her memories.  It might be something that we don't want happening, know you profession and everything, this could cause havoc.  Plus it doesn't help that she's a very powerful miko, I can feel it in her."

&nb sp;  "You met her?!" Whispered Miroku.

&nb sp;  "In a way."  She responded.  "Just keep this to yourself, I think that Sota should be fine once she remembers all maybe sooner."  As they finished talking InuYasha walked in.

&nb sp;  "We should leave now, the only thing we can do is wait."  He said to InuYasha.  "Promise you won't hit me once I take this thing off."  InuYasha glared.  "Promise me." Demanded Miroku.  InuYasha nodded.

&nb sp;  Once the ward came off InuYasha slammed Miroku into the ground.

&nb sp;  "You promised."  Miroku whined.

&nb sp;  "I lied."  Snapped InuYasha.  "Let's go since the hag is doing us no good. Plus I can't stand the odor of this place any longer."

&nb sp;  "I thought you said you liked it."  Said Miroku slyly. InuYasha growled.

&nb sp;  "Can it bouzo or you won't live to have children."  Snipped InuYasha back.  "Let's just get the kid and leave."    He stormed out of the house leave Miroku and Keade shaking their heads at his behavior.
