Disclaimer: *Weeps uncontrollably* I-I don't own Inu & Co! There I said it!
Yay! I took a break from writing for a little while but now I'm back with a brand new story! *claps hands* This is my first attempt at an alternate universe fic so I hope it doesn't suck, and of course reviews are loved.
If I get lots of reviews I will update regularly!!
This story will be a bit more mature than my others and is rated for a little language, sexual situations, nudity, and possible lemons in later chapters!

“Kagome,” an annoyed voice called but the raven haired girl didn't even noticed and continued reading getting completely absorbed in her book, “Kagome put down the book right now or I'm failing you!”
That was the one thing on earth that could get Kagome attention, marking her page in her book she set in on the bench and stood at attention. She looked around almost forgetting what she was supposed to be doing, her gym teacher glaring daggers at her. Of course Kagome had not been paying attention she was a bookworm not an athlete and if it weren't for the fact that she needed the PE credit to graduate she wouldn't even be bothering with it at all.
“Come on Kagome its not that hard all you need to do is participate and show me your trying,” the female teacher sighed rubbing her temple, “You haven't shown me any signs of improvement all semester and you won't if you don't save the book for later and get up to bat!”
Kagome just gave a quick nod and walked up to the plate, grabbing a helmet and a bat from by the fence and stumbling up to the plate nearly falling over herself. Recovering quickly she took her batting stance and waited for her pitch.
She was not an unfortunate looking girl, she was small with a thin build and a rather large bust and her skin was clear and fair. Kagome was a bit on the pale side since she rarely got out in the sun and often hand glasses sitting on her nose from the years of heavy reading putting strain on her eyes. She was naturally wearing her school gym uniform which was a black loose fitting t-shirt and grey shorts. They didn't cover the parts of her arms where you could see her bruising, she was known for being the biggest klutz in school so it was no big surprise.
All of the girls out on the field snickered, some of them out in the grass even sat down to take a break after being out forever in the hot sun. The girls on the bases groaned in disappointment as did the girls in the batters cage.
The girl that was pitching snickered as well knowing very well what would happen, just like every other day they played every other sport. She threw the softball, not even all that hard, towards Kagome's bat and Kagome gave a pathetic slow swing that came about ten seconds after the ball had gone out of rang. Afterwards there was another unanimous snicker among the girls and disappointed moan shared through her teammates.
“Come on Kagome just swing a little faster,” the gym teacher urged even though she knew the chances of Kagome actually getting a hit were minimal.
The second pitch came and again Kagome missed hopelessly, this time there was a dull laughter coming from the outfield.
Kagome gritted her teeth in frustration and tightened her grip on the bat again preparing herself and hoping to god she would at least get a bunt that would get her to first.
The pitcher wound up, she threw, the ball hurtled its way toward Kagome, and she swung as hard as she could …. It didn't work. Kagome swung too hard and the momentum of the bat was great enough to make it fly out of Kagome's poor grip, and of course the ball was missed all together bouncing off the ground just behind Kagome's feet. Yet again Kagome had failed to hit a single pitch and an all too familiar hoot of laughter not only sounded from the girls in the outfield but the boys who were watching from the sidelines, and yet again defeated.
It's done and over with now, Kagome thought to herself reassuringly trying to make her eyes avoid the angry glares of her teammates, I just hope this is all I will hear of it.
She picked up the book she had been reading before she had been called off the bench and was about to resume the page she left off on when she noticed a man standing with her gym teacher. The main reason he caught her eye was because of his long silver hair and the matching ivory dog ears on his head, there was no doubt he was hanyou, and a gorgeous one at that. He looked young but yet to old to be a fellow twelfth grade student with Kagome and wore plain blue jeans with a black dress shirt and red tie making him look very professional. It was odd that a hanyou would even be on school grounds without being rushed off by teachers, hanyous and demons alike were discriminated against and it was amazing but they all just took it and tried to live normal lives.
The silver haired man casually looked around the field as he talked with the gym teacher and his golden orbs met Kagome's. She blushed furiously and pushed her thick book up in front of her face to hide it, she had been starring at him pretty hard, he must think I'm a freak…

InuYasha laughed talking with his old friend from collage Sango Taiji, she had only been a year older than him in teacher's college and he couldn't believe he ended up working in the same school as her, “It's been way to long Sango, I'm glad you ended up being a gym teacher. Hey how's Miroku I haven't seen him since his hangover after your graduation party.”
“He's fine he just got a job as a principal in another school nearby,” Sango smiled watching her girls play and a wide smiled played across her lips that she couldn't hide anymore, “He proposed last week!”
“That's great,” InuYasha laughed, “Hey I've got to get the guys together and throw him a stag some time.”
“As long as it's at your house and if you get strippers I'll neuter you dog boy,” Sango grinned still laughing, “Oh this is great InuYasha you actually got a job here, you have to be the first hanyou teacher here ever and who knows maybe if you do a good job they will finally get over there pointless hate for demons. I swear I just want to punch some of them in the face some days, especially that Naraku Onigumo.”
“Well right now he is my employer and the only reason I got hired was because Sesshy is at the head of the board and it gave him no choice,” InuYasha sighed, “But your right if I can make a good impression then maybe some of the rules about hanyous will be lessened at the least.”
InuYasha looked around the place, it was a faire sized school and pretty nice compared to the school he was forced to go to a few years back. His eyes wondered over a girl sitting on the bench, the one he had watched strike out not that long ago, it seemed she had been looking in his direction but just as he looked back at her she hide her face in a book that coincidentally was upside down. She was an odd girl, he could feel an unnaturally pure aura around her and he noticed all the bruising along her arms.
“Hey is that girl over there alright,” he asked.
“She'll be fine she just isn't interested in the real world, she seems to prefer the world of books,” Sango sighed, “I try to get her into other stuff but it doesn't seem to work.”
“No I mean all of those bruises.”
“That's another thing; she is fairly klutzy when it comes to almost everything. The poor girl must come to me every other day with new bruises claiming she has tripped or fallen but I think its total bull shit. I see how the other kids treat her and I know they are the ones tripping her and pushing her into lockers. I'd like to help her but she never goes to teachers for help about anything so my hands are tied.”
Sighing InuYasha turned towards the school, “I've got a class to teach in about ten minutes I better get going.”
“See you later.”
He knew he should probably talk to that Kagome girl but he learned a long time ago not to interfere with humans. Most of them hated him and having a hanyou trying to get into their business was the worst thing that could happen. Either way he had an English class to teach and if he didn't get moving he would be late on his very first day.

“Nice going Kagome,” Kikyo seethed as the girls walked into the dressing room, “Because of you we lost the game.”
Kagome didn't say a word, she just stared at the floor as she walked and tried to ignore her classmate. After years of this type of thing she would think she would be able to block out the voices easily but she could still hear every word and a lot of them hurt.
The other students accidentally bumped into Kagome as they passed her and Kagome just stood there taking it like she always did before she grabbed her cloths and went off to change in a bathroom stall like she always did. It was the best way to avoid the others and it was not like anyone cared if she was missing for five minutes.
Alone she changed from her gym cloths to her regular cloths that consisted of long loose fitting old jeans, a t-shirt that was too small for her and allowed her belly to peak out and a large men size sweater that hung down past her butt. The excess from the sleeves hung over her hands and along with her glasses she looked like a little girl trying to pass as a teenager. She pulled her hair down from the pony tail it had been in allowing most of it to fall over her face and she fixed her makeup in the places where it was beginning to rub off and the purple of old bruises were beginning to show.
She left the bathroom after all of the girls had hurried off to their next class and shoving her cloths in her locker she grabbed her books and hurried off to her next class before she was late.
Some of the people who lagged behind on purpose were standing in the stair well and seemed to be waiting for Kagome to walk by them. The worst of them was Kikyo Haruno, one of the pretty girls in the school that was obviously wanted by every guy unanimously. Her skin was pale and so flawless she only wore light coloured eye makeup, and her shining black hair fell like silk over her slender shoulders. She wore her cloths in the sluttiest fashion possible without getting in trouble by the teachers, her skirt was barely long enough to pass standard, and her black tank top straps were barely two fingers wide like it was required to be. It was modest for her looks but it was all she needed to get any guy she wanted hook line and sinker.
“Why the hell do you even stick around this place if you're just going to be a useless freak,” Kikyo sneered as her friends chuckled quietly behind her, “I swear did your mom cry when you were born because you have got to be the ugliest sorry excuse for a human being on the face of this earth!”
Not saying a word, and with her eyes glued to the floor, Kagome just walked past her clutching her books tightly in her arms. She found silence was usually better for her, it involved her getting hurt less when she didn't snap back so for her four years of high school she basically didn't talk at all, not even in class. Though just because she kept her silence all the time didn't mean she would get away unscathed every single time.
As Kagome headed down the second flight of stairs to the first floor Kikyo decided she didn't want to be ignored that day and snuck up quickly behind Kagome hooking her high healed shoes in front of Kagome causing her to trip.
She fell forward before she even noticed Kikyo behind her and stumbled a few steps before she grabbed the railing and hanging off it for dear life. The silent girl hadn't even screamed when she fell but she did drop all of her school supplies and when she stopped they continued tumbling down the stairs, not stopping until they hit the bottom and her papers went flying. Her binder broke open like it often did since it had been dropped and thrown across rooms about a hundred times before and her hard plastic pencil case shattered sending pencils and other writing supplies scattering across the tiled floor.
Laughing hysterically Kikyo walked past Kagome on the stairs followed by her pack of friends, “Gee Kagome you're such a klutz, learn to walk before you come to school tomorrow.”
When Kikyo was out of earshot Kagome let out a small moan, she had hit her knee of the step pretty hard and it barely showed on her face but it hurt like a son of a bitch. So much so that there was a small pool of blood forming on the knee of her jeans, something she would have to wash out later.
After a few moments the pounding in her knee lessened and she eased her way down the stairs to pick up her things. Some other students passed her with smirks on their faces and made sure to step on her pens or kick them across the hall, some stepped over her notes if they had particularly dirty shoes on. All this and the fact that Kagome now had a limp slowed her down on her way to class which was still near the other side of the school yet, the bell rang just as she picked up her last note and as quick as she could she hurried off, stumbling slightly from her knee.
Lucky she was able to make it to class only five minutes late and eased open the door trying to sneak in without being unnoticed, but the new English teacher was a lot quicker and had much better hearing than their old one because their replacement was the hanyou Kagome had spotted out on the baseball field not that long ago. His dog ears twitched hearing the door open and he turned facing Kagome.
“Miss I will tell you right now that I will not stand for tardiness in this class,” the silver haired man stated flatly crossing his arms, “What is your excuse?”
Kagome's breath caught in her throat as she stood there on the spot with everyone in the class staring at her. She let her eyes wonder to the floor like they always did and in her soft voice that barely anyone could hear she said, “I tripped on the stairs, I'm sorry.”
The silver haired man's eyebrow cocked up slightly when she noticed the blood stain a little smaller than the side of his fist had formed fresh on the knee of Kagome's pants, “Do you need to go get a bandage from the nurse?”
Quickly Kagome shook her head and hurried to her desk in the first row beside the far wall. She sat down promptly pulling out her books and a pencil she had shoved in her pocket since her pencil case was no more.
“You know if you tripped I am not going to hold it against you if you need to make a quick trip to the nurse. That looks like a pretty nasty cut,” the silver haired teacher eyed Kagome with a slight look of concern but Kagome just shook her head again silently insisting it was fine even though it was throbbing like there was no tomorrow.
The teacher sighed in defeat and turned back to his class, “Now as I was saying I am Mr. Taisho your new English teacher. To say it before the questions are raised yes I am hanyou, if you all have a problem with it then it doesn't matter to me because most people do and I have heard it all before. Now I have a lot to cover this semester and as we all knew the school year seems to be about a million years longer than it actually is so if we get the work done maybe near the end of the year if our work gets done we will be able to do some more fun stuff. For now I will need to learn your names so why don't we do attendance.”
One by one the names of the students were called, and Kagome having a last name starting with the letter H was near the beginning of the list, “Kagome Higurashi.”
She just raised her hand only enough for Mr. Taisho to notice her before slumping in her desk again to hide herself from his questioning stare.
What is with that girl that seems off, InuYasha pondered in his mind as he continued reading off the list, I wonder if she ever talks more than five words at a time.
Throughout the whole class Kagome didn't say another word, all of the other kids seemed to know this was normal, but InuYasha tried his best to get Kagome to speak thinking it would be good for her to become more active in class discussions. Every attempt failed when she just looked up at him with blank brown eyes and shrugged every time she was asked a question.
He decided to start the class off with a novel study on the book `The Hobbit' and after they read the first chapter they were required to answer questions on it that required detailed answers on themes, moods, etc. He tried to get the class to answer some of them in class to give them an idea of what he wanted to see on their answers but everyone including Kagome was reluctant to answer so he assigned it to be written and handed in at the end of class.
“Hand in your papers,” InuYasha announced as the bell signaling the end of the day sounded.
Some kids groaned having to be rushed into handing in a novel study sheet so quickly and others gave a sigh of relief since the school day was finally over and they could all go home. They began to file out, all of them handing in their papers to InuYasha as they walked out the door; Kagome was one of the last ones to leave the room.
Out of curiosity InuYasha decided to look at Kagome's paper first (plus the fact that it was at the very top of the pile) and began reading her answers to all the questions he had assigned the class and found surprising results. Every single answer was not only correct but answered in a way most university students couldn't, everything was neat, everything right down to her handwriting (she was writing with a busted pen the whole class so it would have been difficult to do this). He didn't even need to read the whole thing to know right away that it was a hands down A, most likely an A+.
Why on earth did she act like she didn't know a single answer when I asked her when she could do such a good job on paper, InuYasha thought in astonishment, Maybe I should have a talk with Mss. Higurashi and see what this is all about?

That was the first chapter I hope it's not terrible since I don't do many alternate universe fanifcs. Reviews are very welcome here and will probably encourage me to continue this story (Hint, hint)
