InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ High Speed Chase Love ❯ Hit with a Death Sentance ( Chapter 2 )
Inuyasha sat up in his usual spot in the tree over looking the village. He had this unshakeable feeling that he shouldn't of let Kagome go back to her time. Granted, he had this feeling every time she went back. That fear that she may go back and now come back…
But this time, it wasn't just fear. It was terror. A sixth sense told him something was going to happen. She had only been gone for a little over twenty minutes for a `driving test', which he didn't know - nor gave a damn - what it was. He didn't want her to leave him again. For his own reasons - some selfish, most reasonable.
But for now he tried to brush off the feeling, swinging his leg over the branch idly. Waiting for her to come back.
"Inuyasha, do you remember what a car is?" She had asked.
"Those giant demons that are slaves to humans?"
She had chuckled, thought he couldn't figure out why. "Something like that. Anyway, I'm going to be able to drive one in a couple of days. Today I have to go take a driving exam in order to get one."
Inuyasha had been mortified. "You won't try and enslave me and drive me will you?"
"What?" She laughed at him, tweaking his ear. "No. I want a car that doesn't like ramen, thought the cute dog ears might affect what I buy." Inuyasha narrowed his eyes. Kagome caught this. "Don't worry. You won't get replaced. But I do need to leave for four hours. To take the test and when I come back, I promise I'll bring you a lot of ramen. Deal?" She gave his ear another tweak. "Feh. Just hurry back. I want my ramen."
Kagome looked hurt and he regretted that. If only he knew how much he was about too.
-------- 4 Hours 46 Minutes Later --------
"Kagome is late." Inuyasha reasoned with himself as he headed for the well. "She won't be to mad." He tried to reason again as he jumped down and back out into her time.
He looked around. A saddened aura hung all over the shrine. Inuyasha walked through the courtyard as the rain clouds turned out to play, raining on someone parade. Though the rain isn't what made him break into a run, it was the sobbing sounds.
That sounds like Kagome's mom!
He stopped a few inches from the door and raised his foot and was about to break it down when he realized that Kagome wouldn't appreciate it. He knocked on the door, like she had taught him after a certain bathroom incident, and waited for it to open.
"Oh, Inuyasha. It's you." It was sad, sullen, almost creepy.
"What happened? Where's Kagome?!" He looked around the room wildly. He couldn't even smell her here. "You don't know do you?" She asked.
I don't like this. I don't like her tone! I don't like the tears! I don't like the fact I can't even sense Kagome anywhere!
"Know what? Mrs. Kagome what happened!?"
"Inuyasha she had a bad car accident. They don't think she is going to make it."
---------------------------------
Inuyasha burst through the doors of the hospital. Running, not asking anyone and trying to keep the red cap on, just sniffing her out. Getting a little woozy at all the different scents of drugs, death, and pain. After seven minutes of searching he found her in something called an ICU. He looked through the windows at Kagome.
"She's so pain. So fragile. How could I have let this happen." He pushed the door open and was stopped by a nurse.
"Can I help you? Family only is aloud in there."
Inuyasha suppressed a growl. Ripping his arm from the nurse he pushed the door open.
"Katie get me security!" The nurse called as Inuyasha ignored her. He pulled up a chair taking one of Kagome's hands in both his kissing it softly.
As the nurse returned with the guards she looked at the scene in front of her. Going agaisned policy and her better judgment she told the guards it must be a false alarm, standing there for a moment herself before walking away.
Meanwhile Inuyasha had actual tears in his eyes. "Oh god. How could I let this happen. I'm supposed to protect you. And look, I can't even protect you now. Damn it." He sighed. "I've failed Kagome. I've failed you completely. Friend, Demon, Human, everything. I…" He sighed. He never thought in five hundred years he would be saying this. "I can't protect you anymore Kagome. It's time that you stay in your time. I can finish looking for the shards on my own." He let go of her hands, lowering his head - much like a dog would when it wants to be put - so that his ears were touching them through the hat.
"I guess this is goodbye Kagome." He sighed again, standing up.
He spotted another nurse outside in what he remembered as a nurses station.
"Can I help you sir?"
"When that women there was brought in, did she have a pink ball on a necklace with her?"
The nurse shook her head. "Nope."
"Can you tell me where she was brought in from?"
"Just a second." She said, looking at the computer before handing him a paper.
----------------------------
Somehow he had managed to find the area. Two police cars were still at the scene. A fire engine and a large van-like vehicle that had large Neon Green letter on the side reading C.S.U. of Tokyo. Inuyasha watched as one of the men picked up the jewel.
It shocked him causing his to throw it in a general direction. Inuyasha scooped it up before taking off running, hearing a man call out to him. "Hay! That evidence!"
-----------------------------
Inuyasha returned to the shrine. Looking around once again before heading for the well house. Kagome's mom stopped him.
"Inuyasha… It's Kagome… you should go to the hospital."
