Inuyasha ran as fast as he could. Almost losing the red baseball cap in the process. Knocking over three people in the lobby as he ran up the stairs, no time for the elevator, to her floor.

Pushing past the nurses he found Kagome's grandfather and Souta. Both looked like they had been crying a long time.

Souta noticed Inuyasha and gave a weak smile. Before whispering into the older man, of old hag's, ear. They both got up to leave.

Inuyasha couldn't believe the smell.

Death.

Nothing but it. No tears, no happiness, nothing. Just death.

He sat down next to Kagome's bed. Forgetting about the jewel hanging from his neck, he once again picked up her hands. They felt so cold.

This is it. He thought. Last time I'll ever see her.

Inuyasha took a quick look around. Him and Kagome were the only ones in the room. He sighed, putting his head on her slowly rising chest.

"This is it Kagome. Our last journey."

I know you think that I shouldn't still love you,
I'll tell you that.
But if I didn't say it, well I'd still have felt it
where's the sense in that?

Her heart is so slow. It scares me so much… I never thought this day would come.

I promise I'm not trying to make your life harder
Or return to where we were

"You know Kagome. It wasn't much after I met you that I… fell in love. And even after that I wouldn't show it. Now I wish I had. It hurt to see you always compare yourself to Kikyo. Saying you could never be as good. Always a copy. And… you were never like that to me. Kikyo was cold, only wanted me to turn human for her own reasons. You didn't care. If I wanted to be human or demon or both, you didn't care. You still stayed by me." Inuyasha sniffed back a tear. "Damn." He said, shaking his head a little.

"I hoped I would get a better chance to tell you this. But Kagome… I love you."

No sooner had the words left his mouth than he herd her heart slow. The machine started a strait line beep.

"No…" Inuyasha hissed, cowering, his ears - hidden - going flat to his head. "No."

He whined like a lost, hurt puppy. And as far as he knew, without Kagome he was lost. Without Kagome he would lose every battle. Without Kagome he would give up looking for the last final shard. Remain a hanyou. For three reasons. To honor her, because she loved him that way, and three, he no longer had the desire to be a full demon.

He stayed like that for seven minutes before slowly drifting off to sleep.

He woke to a soft giggle.

I must be hallucinating, that sounded like Kagome. Inuyasha thought completely

un-amused. When he felt something touch his ears he only grumbled.

"Oh, come on Inuyasha don't be like that. I'm fine, look." A female voice, sounding like Kagome's, spoke. Inuyasha still didn't move. And then it hit him.

Her voice, her scent, her fingers, her hand, her breath, her heart… it's all here! It's working… but how…

Inuyasha's head shot up. "Kagome!"
