Last time on: High Speed Chase Love…

He woke to a soft giggle.

I must be hallucinating, that sounded like Kagome. Inuyasha thought completely

un-amused. When he felt something touch his ears he only grumbled.

"Oh, come on Inuyasha don't be like that. I'm fine, look." A female voice, sounding like Kagome's, spoke. Inuyasha still didn't move. And then it hit him.

Her voice, her scent, her fingers, her hand, her breath, her heart… it's all here! It's working… but how…

Inuyasha's head shot up. "Kagome!"

"Kagome!"

"Where you expecting someone else?" She giggled at him again. Inuyasha became a little angry at that. "How can you be so care free? You died yesterday!"

Kagome's smile didn't fade. "I know that." Her voice sounded sadder. "But, it's ok… so long as I'm back and the first thing I see is you sleeping with your head in my lap."

"But… you died. Right here… I saw it…" He breathed out.

What the hell happened here? Damn it, why can't I figure this out.

Kagome saw him in deep thought and took her chances. Reaching out she began to rub the right one. Inuyasha immediately forgot all thoughts and rested his head in her lap again.

One of the nurses came in and Kagome quickly slipped on the hat before she noticed.

"I really have to say, it's quite a miracle really. Yesterday you were flat-out dead and, today… well I just don't believe it. Your alive, and your wounds are completely healed. It's a miracle for the books, that's what it is. And to boot, your blood seems different. And your eyes… they respond to light differently, if not better. It's amazing."

Eyes are different? Blood different? Inuyasha drew in a long smell of Kagome.

Shit, she's right. But what does this mean?

Inuyasha forgot about it when the nurses next words came. "So, in light of your miracle recovery the hospital sees no reason to keep you here. You'll be picked up by your family in an hour."

Inuyasha and Kagome sat near the god tree at the shrine. She sighed, this was going to come out eventually.

"Inuyasha… I heard what you said."

No response.

"And… well, I love you too… you know that."

Still nothing.

"But, I don't want this to be the end. I want to travel with you all over your era."

"No." Firm, yet gentle.

"But, Inuyasha-"

"I said no."

(Piano Only - Plays for about 20 Seconds)

(Piano stops and fades. Drums, Piano, and Bass pick up and play. A male voice sings low.)

He didn't wait for her to respond before running head long into the well house and into the well.

It's been a while

Since I could

Smile and be free

It's been a while

Since I could

Fly away so free

(Gets Louder-Higher)

I feel like I am drowning

(Normal)

In a pool of blood

I feel like I am the only one

(Instruments stop and fade while a light syllable sound comes from drums.)

Here at all

(All Inst starts up again and play for seven seconds before singer sings again.)

Kagome hadn't moved from the tree ever since he had left. Tears formed in her eyes as she swore to herself not to follow him.

It's been a while

Since I've seen

The smile on your face

It's been a while

Since I could

Hold you in an em-brace

(Louder/Stronger)

And even if I could send

(Normal)

To the stars so high

I wonder if I could

(Instruments stop and fade while a light syllable sound comes from drums.)

Spend my life alone

(All inst start as normal again. - Wait 7 sec before singing)

It's been a while

(Louder/Stronger)

I wonder if I am

Inuyasha jumped right out and immediately pounded the tree. "God damn it! God fucking damn it!"

(Normal)

All dead inside

It makes me wonder why

(Instruments stop and fade while a light syllable sound comes from drums.)

not drive into the night

It's been a while

Since I've been able to

I feel like I need to win

(Fades)

Inuyasha leaned agaisned the tree, not moving for a long time. His hand cradled into his lap, injured by the blow to the tree. Not really caring at this point what happened to him, he just sat there.

He knew there was a demon watching him.

He knew what it wanted.

He knew what was going to happen…

And he let it.

Kagome had enough. She couldn't sit around all day while Inuyasha, the hanyou she loved, ran around in his era without her.

She couldn't allow that.

But she knew that he wouldn't come to get here on the other side of the well, so she grabbed her arrow set.

Inuyasha was within the death grip of the demon, who's claws were around his neck. He didn't struggle. He welcomed it.

Better to be killed then to kill oneself was how he saw it.

He didn't hear the person approach from behind.

"Oh my god! Inuyasha!"

He didn't bother guessing who it was, he didn't care.

"Hit your mark!" The arrow flew through the air and into the demon.

She ran up while Inuyasha was falling… he landed on top of her.
