Chapter 2: Secrets

Inuyasha sighed; the class he was in was currently doing nothing but boring him. One thing kept nagging at his mind though, a pair of crystal blue eyes locked on his back. The feeling unnerved him a bit.

As soon as the bell rang through the halls of the school Inuyasha jumped out of his seat, making a break for the door as fast as his legs could take him. He was quite eager to get away from the all-knowing eyes that stared him down.

Students of all ages and ethnicities filled the hallways, grouping into cliques and talking animatedly amongst themselves.

A pair of slim arms wrapped around Inuyasha from behind him, startling the day-light out of him. He jumped a bit, but relaxed when a sultry voice whispered into his ear:

“Inu-babe, what's wrong? You're all jumpy.”

The voice to his ears was a sweet and sour sensation.

Sweet in the way that he was relieved that it was anyone else but that creepy bitch that kept staring him down last class period, but sour in how he did not fail to notice the husky undertones to the voice, which only succeeded in making him want to gag.

He wasn't stupid.

As much as the school population made it out to be so, Inuyasha was far from stupid. He knew that the wench he called his girlfriend was far from innocent. Hell, anyone could tell simply by the choice of clothing she wore—or there for lack of clothing she wore.

A thought suddenly struck Inuyasha.

Why did he think that the creepy bitch from his last class was going to do what Kikyou did to him on a normal basis? With the way that she was glaring at him he would have assumed that she would only wrap her arms around him from behind to gut him.

“Nothings wrong babe.” Inuyasha told Kikyou smoothly, turning in her grip so that his masculine chest faced her voluptuous one.

Kikyou smiled seductively at the boy, her grip on him becoming more firm with possession.

“What do you say about dumping this joint and finding a room?” Kikyou replied smoothly, her voice drenched in her not-so-secret desire to get into his pants. She rubbed a single digit across Inuyasha's chest in small circles, doing what she thought was sexy.

Or so Inuyasha assumed.

“Kikyou, you know that my parents would not fall for that.” Inuyasha told the girl, wondering if he was supposed to be pleased by the put out expression on her face.

He grabbed the finger that had stilled on his chest and brought her hand into his bigger ones, bringing her fist to his lips so he could kiss the knuckles, doing what he hoped looked like a sign of affection.

It seemed to have worked.

Kikyou giggled in what was supposed to be a girlish was, some how even managing to pull off a blush.

“Maybe some other time.” She told him absentmindedly.

“Yah, sure.” Inuyasha answered nonchalant, not really meaning it.

He really didn't know how much longer he could keep this up. Eventually Kikyou would want him for sex, but how was he supposed to tell her `hey I'm a hanyou, not only that, but a dog demon hanyou and we mate for life'? And Inuyasha was more than certain that he didn't want to spend the rest of his life with this fake wench.

Kikyou stood on her tippy-toes to give Inuyasha a quick peck on the lips before she waved at him and turned in the opposite direction that he had to go, leaving for her next class period.

`Or her next fuck.' Inuyasha thought silently, knowing that the wench had already been with more than two men in the first hour of the morning.

“Oh what do I care?” Inuyasha asked himself aloud with a dramatic shrug of his shoulders, earning a few concerned glances from passing students.

A shout was heard down the hall with a sound of flesh meeting flesh only heard from a slap and Inuyasha smirked.

“So that's where ya'll went?” He pondered to himself, being sure to speak under his breath this time so not to receive the strange looks again.

He stuck his hands in his pockets, walking calmly to where his friends were hanging out.

When he reached the sight in front of him he couldn't well say he was surprised.

Miroku was on the ground with a red imprint of Sango's hand on his face while Sango glared dangerously down at the boy; her hands clamped in fist and held tightly on her hips.

Inuyasha just chuckled.

“Can't learn can you Miroku?” Inuyasha taunted down at the fallen boy.

His only answer was a groan from the hurting man.

Sango huffed.

“I don't know why I even bother hanging around the pervert.” She spat angrily, the comment directed more towards the fallen man then Inuyasha.

Miroku was suddenly up, embracing Sango's hands in his own.

“My dear, you know that you can't stand being away from me.” He told her seriously.

Sango just huffed, yanking her hands from his and slapping him across the face again.

“Can it.” She told the man, turning her attention towards the concealed hanyou staring at them, an amused expression dancing on his face.

Sango raised an eyebrow.

“Is their something you find amusing, Mr. Tasho?” She asked coldly, not appreciating his amusement over the situation.

Inuyasha shook his head, the smile never wavering from his face.

“Nope nothing.”

Sango just lowered her eyebrows, an angered look coming on her face.

“So,” Miroku suddenly said from beside Sango, his hurt from the slap gone, “What do you think about that new girl?”

The statement surprised Inuyasha, wiping the smile off his face.

“God she's creepy.” He told his two friends, adding a shudder to emphasize his point.

Miroku took on a seriousness, his hand coming up to his face to caress his chin in thought.

“I thought she was quite a work of art.” He told Inuyasha seriously. Sango growled as best as humanly possible, feeling her anger overwhelm her.

“Miroku…” She started, her shoulders shaking in her fury.

Miroku smiled brightly.

“Oh, but my lovely Sango, her beauty dose not surpass yours!” He said quickly, his smile becoming one of pure innocence.

Sango just huffed, crossing her hands over her chest defiantly, not willing to let his face do her in.

Inuyasha cleared his throat, catching the couple's attention.

“Umm…I think we better get to class.” He told the two, pointing to the digital clock hanging in the hallway. “Were going to be late if we don't.”

Miroku and Sango agreed quickly before each one took to the hallways, getting to their classes as fast as they could.

Inuyasha growled to himself.

School was over, Miroku and Sango were dropped off, and his concealment spell was off.

The thing that pissed him off had nothing to do with them.

It had everything to do with that creepy bitch though.

Somehow, his good day turned sour as he quickly found out that the winch was in every one of his classes.

Sitting behind him in every one, staring at him with those silver blue eyes, plotting his death in their silver depths.

Just staring.

Blankly.

It freaked the shit out of him.

Inuyasha growled again, cursing his luck.

Oh how lucky he was.

He pulled into his drive way, killing the engine with a flip of his wrist and walking angrily into his house.

His mother said a pleasant hello to him as he passed her from the kitchens. He grunted a reply, knowing that she was giving him a concerned stare as he passed.

Inuyasha walked through the hallway to his room. He noticed briefly that the study his father worked in was light up, telling him that someone was in the room.

Inuyasha grew curious, knowing that Sesshomaru had one of his own if he ever had anything business related he had to do.

His fathers sent reached his nose suddenly, telling Inuyasha that his father was home.

He walked tentatively to the cracked door, knocking hesitantly on it. A small `come in' was Inuyasha's reply before he opened the door, surprised in a way to see his father buried with his nose in books and business papers littering the desk.

His father looked up, smiling brightly at his son.

“Inuyasha!” He exclaimed happily, a pleasant smile gracing his perfect face.

Inuyasha just looked blankly at his father.

“Umm…” He replied, not knowing what to say to his dad.

His father just continued to smile.

“Well don't just stand there!” He laughed, standing from behind his desk and opening his arms wide to his son. “Come and give your old pop a hug!”

Inuyasha let a small smile slip on his face. He walked calmly over to his father, giving him the hug he requested.

Inuyasha looked over to the papers his father had spewed across his desk.

“So dad,” Inuyasha started once his father had sat down again “What are you working on now?” Inuyasha asked curiously, looking like a little boy wanting to know what flavor of cookie was in the cookie jar.

His father smiled, flipping one of the papers over.

“The government asked me to design a bomb for them; this is just the blue prints I'm coming up with.” He answered honestly, knowing that his son could care less about what he was really doing.

Inuyasha just shrugged his shoulders, a look of indifference coming onto his face.

“Well, you have fun with that old man.” Inuyasha said with a laugh and backwards wave to his father as he left his room, walking to his own.

Inutasho stared blankly at the place where his son had just occupied, an expressionless look on his face.

“This is more than just a joke, son.” He said quietly to the empty room, knowing that his son would not hear him.

“This is far from a joke.”

Darkness filtered into the quiet room, hiding the many figures crouched in a bow to their superior, each individual wearing skin tight black suits.

“I want it.” The voice boomed across the room.

The occupants nodded, each taking on a look of determination.

“I want sparrow in charge of the operation.” The man continued, his voice old and wise with age.

“Get the job done.” The silent threat did not go unnoticed.

“Make sure that it dose not fall into the wrong hands. I will have anyone who is responsible for the deed dead if it is lost.” He said threateningly, the very real threat taken seriously.

“Do what ever it takes sparrow.” The voice boomed in authority.

“If it requires you to get close to the target than do it, but do not let anything happen to the document.”

The one named sparrow nodded the objective clear.

“Yes sir.” A feminine voice answered.

“Then let project Ree commence.” The voice announced.

Five sets of `yes sir's were heard through the room before each silently stood, making their way silently through the blackness of night.

“Sparrow.” The voice said before she was out of hearing range.

The woman turned her body slightly.

“Yes sir?” she asked.

“Don't let them get it.”

Silence met his statement.

“I won't” Was his firm response before she took off into the night, one hand resting on the gun strapped loosely around her waist.

“I can only hope you won't. I'm counting on you now, Sparrow.”
