Sango watched Kagome pace restlessly, worrying her bottom lip and every once in a while glancing in the direction that Sesshoumaru had gone. She walked over to her and tentatively asked, " Kagome, what are you going to do? I know you don't want to hurt his feelings, but you need to tell him everything and make him understand that you are Sesshoumaru's mate now and he needs to move on." Kagome stopped pacing and hugged Sango gently before saying, " I know I have to make him understand, but what I'm worried about is what Sesshoumaru will do if he hears Kouga claim that I'm his woman." Sango was about to warn Kagome not to come between them if that happened, but before she could a very familiar whirlwind blew into their campsite, blowing dirt and leaves everywhere as it came to a stop in front of Kagome, revealing a handsome wolf youkai with a rakish smile.

Kouga looked at Kagome in shock before turning on InuYasha and demanding, " Hey dog breath, what the hell happened to My Woman! I left her with you so you could protect her, while I hunted down and killed Naraku, but instead of protecting her you let her to get turned into a dog youkai!" InuYasha growled, " Shut up ya wimpy wolf, I didn't let her do anything, she did this willingly and if you would use your nose for once you would figure out how!" He declared. Kouga watched the smug expression cross InuYasha's face and came to the conclusion that he wasn't going to like what he found out. He looked at Kagome uncertainly, before breathing her scent in deeply and letting out a ferocious growl when he realized that another male's scent was entwined deeply with hers. Kouga grabbed her arms, " Tell me who he is so I can kill the bastard that thought he could take what is Mine!" He demanded.

Kagome was worried at first, hoping that the news wouldn't hurt him to deeply, but now she was getting severely pissed off about the way he was acting. She told him over and over again that she wasn't his woman but after awhile she just got tired of saying it. She looked into his angry blue eyes and wondered if that was the right thing to do because he was acting like a betrayed husband. She ignored his question and tried to figure out how to explain everything to him without him becoming even more upset and still keeping their friendship intact. She looked up at him, begging with her eyes for him to understand and was about to try to explain, when she was suddenly pulled away from him and into the arms of her mate. She became even more distressed when she saw the freezing cold glare that Sesshoumaru had leveled on the wolf prince. She didn't really like the way Kouga was acting right now but she still didn't want him to die because of her. She was going to try to calm her mate when Sango caught her eye and shook her head, silently telling her not to come between them.

Sesshoumaru quickly sped back towards his mate after he commanded Jaken to gather their belongings and Rin, indicating for them to follow him, when he felt the waves of distress coming from her through their mating mark. He walked into the campsite and couldn't believe what the insolent wolf demanded. He quickly pulled his mate into his arms and pinned the wolf with a freezing glare. He sighed to himself when he felt his mate's distress and fear for the wolf, concluding silently that he must mean something to her and even if that angered him, he knew he couldn't kill him because she would be upset with him. He did not relish the thought of dealing with a pissed inu youkai bitch when they could spend their time doing much more erotic things instead. He let a feral grin touch his lips, that still didn't mean he couldn't put this insolent wolf in his place he thought. He nuzzled her mark, knowing it would piss the other youkai off and pushed her towards her friends so she would be out of the way.

He watched the other youkai that fairly bristled with rage and demanded in a voice made of steel, "What made an insolent whelp like you ever think that you could take this Sesshoumaru's mate?" Kouga growled at the insult but before he could think of a comeback, Sesshoumaru lunged, deadly claws ready to strike any unprotected area. Kouga growled, barely avoiding the first strike before using the jewel shards to pick up speed and search for a hole somewhere in his rivals defenses. Kagome watched them trade blow after blow, quickly working herself into a panic, worrying about the continued health of her friend, but before she could try and put a stop to their fight InuYasha held her back, "Kagome you can not get in the middle of this fight, it will prove to Kouga that Sesshoumaru is dominant over him and that he cannot take you away from him." He said.

Kagome bristled, about to tell him that she was not an object that they could fight over but he cut in saying, "I know that you don't like this, but if they don't fight it out now, Kouga will keep coming back to try to claim you and as you know Sesshoumaru has little patience and he would eventually kill him instead of fighting until one gives up and shows submission to the other."Kagome breathed a sigh of relief when she learned that Sesshoumaru wasn't going to kill Kouga, so with that in mind she set back to watch the rest of the battle, completely in awe of her mate. Kouga looked worn down, even with the jewel shards in his legs, he could not match Sesshoumaru's speed and was now just trying to dodge his attacks. Sesshoumaru stopped all of a sudden, looking bored before obviously coming to a decision and in a series of lightning quick attacks, he knocked the wolf to his knees, with a hand clasped around his throat demanding,"Submit!" Kouga struggled, trying to wrestle out of his hold before finally going limp and baring his throat. Sesshoumaru gave a curt nod before letting go and walking back to the group.

Kouga dragged his weary body off the ground and with a parting shot, "Hey Kagome, if you ever get tired of him I'll always welcome you to my den!" He left. Sesshoumaru just raised an eyebrow at this and watched as his mate winked and gave him a saucy smile as she gathered her belongings so they could continue their search for the jewel shards. He looked over at Rin and noticed she was watching Kagome curiously and hoped it was a sign that she liked her. He knew that Kagome would take to the little girl right off but he didn't know how well Rin would take to strangers since he had never allowed her around any.
