InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ His Little Girl ❯ Jaken's Deception Begins ( Chapter 2 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Rin rode silently upon Ah-Un's back as the two-headed dragon she had come to call friend trotted along beside Sesshoumaru in a slow easy pace. Her attention was focused on the small kits that had woken moments earlier and now lay cuddled together as they all stared up at her curiously. It had been obvious to Rin, from the moment she had found them that they had been without food for awhile, and now that they were awake they would need to be fed. Turning to look Lord Sesshoumaru she called out to him, her voice soft so as not to startle the young charges in her care.

Looking at the child through the corner of his golden eyes, Sesshoumaru, once more held his stoic mask. Jaken trotted along behind the taiyoukai and his presence was beginning to grow irritating to the inu-youkai.

“They are awake now, what shall Rin feed them?”

Stopping in his slow walk, he felt Jaken run into his legs from behind and growled softly as the toad youkai collided with him.

“Jaken,” his voice was emotionless as ever, though a slight growl coloured the words. “Go into the village and gather milk for the kits and food for Rin. Do not take the items without payment as you did before. This Sesshoumaru will not be known as a thief.”

“Y-yes Lord Sesshoumaru.”

Jaken scurried off into the village ahead as Ah-Un snorted their displeasure with the toad. Rin was a much the dragon's friend as they were hers and anyone with eyes that had seen what had happened earlier that day would be displeased as well.

Sesshoumaru lifted Rin off the dragon demon's back and set her in the on her feet in the soft tall grass. He was loathe to relinquish his hold on her after the earlier happenings, but had no wish to show his weakness so openly. He watched as the young girl walked slowly and carefully to sit underneath the shade of a blooming sakura tree. Although the kits were now awake, she was still as careful with them as though they were made of crystal. If one looked close enough they would see that his usually cold golden eyes held the warmth of a father's smile as he watched the girl care for the kits in her arms.

Moving to sit next to her underneath the tree, he stretched his legs out in front of himself as he rested his back against the rough bark of the tree. Rin moved against the taiyoukai's side and curled up against him, his arm wrapping around her small form, holding her close. He dipped his head down and watched as Rin stroked the foxes' furs keeping them calm and returning the young ones once again to a light slumber, as she too fell into a soft nap at his side.

My Little Rin he inwardly sighed. For all that you've seen in your few years, you're still so innocent. You still believe that everyone is good in someway. So much like Inuyasha's miko. He shook his head as though it would rid him of his errant thoughts, but it was for naught. The girl would be on his mind for days to come.

~Meanwhile in the village~

Jaken mentally grumbled at the tasks he was assigned. Gathering milks for pups that had no business traveling with him. Their mother was dead, let them die as well. And as for Rin…perfect! These berries weren't easy to come by in a human village, doubtful the humans here knew any use for them other then decoration.

Mergano berries were poisonous to humans. Oh they wouldn't kill a person, not an adult at least. He was slightly doubtful that they would even kill Rin. But they would make her ill enough. Slipping the berries off of the wreath he pocketed them and moved on. Gathering fresh milk and a warm pudding for Rin, he made his way back to the clearing where they had stopped. Once he was far enough away from the village as not to be seen and still too far from clearing to be sensed by Sesshoumaru, he took the berries from his pocket and mixed them in with the rice pudding. Smirking as he did so, he mentally laughed at how much he would enjoy bringing Rin to her knees.

He would make her beg him for relief, he would break her. No longer would he be the laughing stock of the castle, no longer would he be her play-partner. She would beg for her life before he killed her, and he when he did, he would make sure that Sesshoumaru was none the wiser.
