“I'll only be gone a short while koi, not even a full week,” Kagome said as she and Sesshoumaru stood next to the old Bone Eater's Well in the Forest of Inuyasha. His brother had already taken the children across the time continuum and now simply waited there for Kagome to cross over once she and her mate were done with their goodbyes.

 

“You'll be gone from my bed, gone from my arms…the castle will be so very empty without you and the children.”

 

Sesshoumaru stood with his mate wrapped tightly in his arms and held her close as she tried not to cry again. She loved him so much she thought her heart would simply burst with the effort to hold it all in. She felt such warmth and safety in his arms, a feeling of love unmatched by anything else she had ever known before.

 

Sesshoumaru and Kagome's mouths met in a sad kiss of departure, it ended all too soon for the embracing couple. Moving slowly, her eyes darting between her mate and the well that would take her to her world, Kagome leaned up one last time and kissed the taiyoukai who had stolen her heart and soul.

 

“Close your eyes,” her voice was soft and cracked over her words, she so hated goodbyes. “Think of me. Hold me in your arms when you sleep and when you wake our time apart will be nothing more than a dream. I'll be back home, the children between us as we lay together.”

 

“Then closed shall this Sesshoumaru's eyes be.”

 

Kagome jumped into the well with one last stolen kiss of goodbye. It was never this hard to say goodbye to Inuyasha, why was it so hard to say goodbye to him. Was it simply because he was her mate, she pondered as the swirling energies of the time slip swallowed her up. No, mated or not she knew she would feel the same sadness of departure. It saddened her so because she loved more than she ever thought it was possible to love someone. Her love for him transcended time, bended reason until it was no more, and gave strength where there was none to be found. Her love for her taiyoukai burned more brightly than the full moon in the midnight sky.

 

 

“About time,” Inuyasha's voice greeted her, though his impatience seemed to be more fueled by sadness than anything else.

 

“C'mon,” Kagome said as she climbed out of the well and took his hand.

 

The girl, his pack sister, his brother's mate, his best friend, so many things this girl was, led him inside and greeted her mother who was busy putting groceries away from her recent shopping trip.

 

“Mamma,” Kagome greeted the woman with a hug and a kiss, “I'm gonna go up and take a shower. Inuyasha needs your help, your advice mamma.”

 

“Ok dear. You go ahead then,” she kissed her daughter's cheek as the young woman took to the stairs. She watched as her daughter walked away in a lovely ancient though new, violet silk kimono with a white dog on the back, the crest of the house of Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru. She turned her attention back to the dog eared boy that sat at the kitchen table.

 

The hanyou boy she considered as one of her own looked so sad, his eyes held a far away look and held a deep pain within them that she longed to take away.

 

“Inuyasha,” she began as she sat next to him, pulling the chair next to him close to his side. She wrapped an arm around his shoulders and pulled him to rest his head against her chest as she stroked his long silver white hair. “What's wrong dear? Why are you so sad?”

 

He didn't say anything for a long while and she was beginning to think he wouldn't say anything at all when she heard his whispered words full of pain.

 

“I'm so stupid,” he said his voice cracking with the effort to hold in tears that longed to be shed.

 

“Why?” Kashu asked as she stroked his hair and rubbed his back as his arms snaked around her waist.

 

“…I hurt her so badly…I always say the wrong thing and I did it again, but…”

 

“It was more than just words wasn't it sweetie?” she asked when he kept quiet.

 

He nodded against her shoulder and the tears he struggled to keep at bay fell as his shoulders shook with silent sobs. She wrapped him more securely in her arms until he was almost sitting in her lap. Mamma Higurashi rocked Inuyasha like a bairne and held him tightly as she whispered words of comfort to him.

 

“I-I never knew I was hurting her…it didn't seem like it was that big of a deal…I just…I didn't know!”

 

“Know what dear? How did you hurt her?”

 

“I was sleeping with Kagome.”

 

“You and my daughter were having an affair?”

 

“No! That's just it,” he said sitting up and pulling out of her embrace his tears still slowly falling. “After we returned when Shippou was hurt, Rin was being manhandled by a bear youkai and we fought it. She wasn't hurt or anything, but she was really scared, and Shippou was still sensitive about not being near both his mom and I, so I just shared her and Sesshoumaru's bed, the pups were between Kagome and Sesshoumaru and I was behind Kagome. There wasn't anything sexual about it!”

 

“Did you tell her that?”

 

“I tried to, but I just…as Kagome would say I really suck at explaining things. She asked about my relationship with Kagome and I couldn't tell her, I just, I didn't and still don't really know how to explain it. And then I ended up saying something really stupid and made her run away…”

 

“What did you say?” she asked as she tucked a bit of hair behind his shoulders.

 

“I was trying to lighten the mood with a joke and said that my brother's and mine relationship wasn't close enough to share a mate.”

 

“Oh my that wasn't the best thing to say at all. Have you tried finding her?”

 

“No. Sessh said to let her cool off and talk to her when she came back, but something just doesn't feel right. She's been gone too long.”

 

“How long?”

 

“Four days. When she comes back, I'll do anything she wants. I just, I need her back,” Inuyasha collapsed against Kagome's mother in tears once more, his heart broken by the absence of his mate.

 

The phone rang and Mamma was loathe to release Inuyasha to answer it and was saved from having to when she heard Kagome call down that she would get it upstairs.

 

“Hello,” Kagome spoke into the phone as she zipped up her blue jean flares and straightened her long sleeve v-neck sweater. “Oh hey Yuki, how are you?...really that good huh,” she giggled. “What?...Um yeah sure I can come over…now? Um ok yeah I guess so. I can't stay for too long though. Well sure Inuyasha's here…no I won't bring him I know you two don't get along…Ok see you in a bit Ja ne!” she smiled as she hung up the phone and jogged down the stairs in socked feet.

 

She came into the kitchen to see her mother comforting Inuyasha and kissed her mother's cheek as she spoke softly to her.

 

“Mamma, can you watch the children for a bit, Yuki asked me to come over to her house for a little bit.”

 

“Of course sweetie. I can reach you there if I need you right? Or are you two going somewhere?”

 

“Nope we'll be staying at her house. I won't be gone long, maybe an hour or so at most. I really don't feel a connection to my friends here anymore. That life I used to have, the one where the only thing that mattered was school and boys and fashion, it's not important to me anymore mom. I guess I grew up.”

 

Kashu smiled up at her daughter and kissed her cheek, “You did my darling girl. You grew up to be a mother and a mate, that's like a wife right?” Kagome nodded. “You surpassed any expectations I could have had. You make me so proud. But don't forget, you'll always be my little girl.”

 

Kagome smiled, her smile a little watery, and she hugged her mom around the neck from behind and kissed her hair before turning and leaving the house. Kashu smiled as she watched her daughter leave. She was gifted by the Kami with the most wonderful family she could have ever asked for.

 

 

 

“Hey Kagome, c'mon in,” Yuki smiled and opened the door wider to allow her friend entrance. “So how've you been?”

 

“Good, thanks for inviting me over.” Kagome stepped into the house leaving her shoes by the door.

 

“Of course, I've missed you. So would you like a drink?”

 

“Sure anything.”

 

“Ok, go on up to my room, I'll bring it up.”

 

“Ok.”

 

Kagome walked up the stairs to her friend's room and sat upon her bed as she waited for Yuki to come up with the drinks.

 

“Yeah she's here,” Yuki spoke quietly into the phone. She looked into the living room checking to be sure that Kagome was upstairs. “No she's in my room…yeah I got the stuff, what'd you call it riplies?...oh right rufies. I know I know I crush up two of em and put em in her drink. How long till they take effect?...Five minutes, seriously? - ok! Yeah don't worry, I'll dope her up and then she's all yours. Yeah see you in a few, bye Hojou.”

 

Yuki hung up the phone and crushed up two of the little white pills and put the powder in a glass she then filled with soda, she had juice for herself, just so that there was no mix up in the drinks. How embarrassing would it be if she doped herself! Carrying the two drinks she went upstairs with a smile on her face and watched as Kagome drunk down the soda.

 

“Thanks Yuki, I've been so thirsty lately.”

 

“Not a problem Kag.” Yuki watched as minutes later Kagome grew tired and slumped over on her bed unconscious. “Not a problem at all bitch.” She laughed with an evil tone as she walked down the stairs and let Hojou in. “She's upstairs asleep and all yours. You want her here or you gonna take her with you?”

 

“Your folks are out right?” the boy asked as he walked in, the scratches left by Shippou had healed nicely, only a few near his ears and eyes scarring over into short thin white lines.

 

“A whole month, they're visiting my brother and his wife in Osaka.”

 

“I'll deal with her here.”

 

“Ok. I'm gonna go for a walk then.”

 

“Bye.”

 

Yuki closed the door as she walked out of the house and Hojou locked it behind her. He shed his jacket as he climbed the stairs and walked into Yuki's room to see Kagome passed out on the bed. He moved her to lie flat on the bed on her back and divested her of her clothing until she lay naked upon the bedding.

 

He stood back and removed a digital camera from his pants pocket and began taking pictures of her naked form from every angle. He spread her legs wide open and took pictures of her womanhood. If she ever wanted to not have these posted on the school website and his own personal website she'd better do as he said.

“Where's Kagome?” Inuyasha asked Kashu as he returned from the girl's bedroom after putting the pups down for a nap.

 

“Her friend Yuki called, she went over to her house for a visit.”

 

“Yuki? Which one is she?”

 

“The one with the shorter hair. Remember when we went shopping and you ran into your brother and Kagome kissing?” Inuyasha nodded, “she was the girl who was talking with them.”

 

“Her?! She's the one that always smells like Hojou!” he cried out as he ran aback upstairs and came down with Tetsusaiga on his hip.

 

“Inuyasha where are you going? And what's wrong with Hojou?”

 

“That son of a bitch tried to rape Kagome!” he growled and ran out of the house following Kagome's lingering scent to Yuki's house that wasn't too far from the school they both attended.

 

 

 

 

Kagome began to stir on the bed and awakened to find herself naked on the bed. Her arms were tied above her to the bed and Hojou was leering at her as he thrust the vibrator in and out of her. She snapped to full wakefulness and twisted on the bed trying to get away from him. She screamed as he grabbed her right breast tightly in his hand and squeezed it harshly. He ripped the vibrator from her and climbed over top of her, settling his naked form between her legs.

 

“No! No! No! Please stop this. Don't do this Hojou, kami please don't do this!” she sobbed and screamed at the same time. This couldn't be happening, not again.

 

The bedroom door exploded with the force of Inuyasha's body slamming into and through it and the hanyou moved swiftly. He grabbed Hojou by the back of his neck and threw him off of Kagome, his claws ripping through flesh and bone and killing the boy in mere seconds, his dead body hitting the wall.

 

Kagome lay shaking and crying on the bed as Inuyasha moved to her and tore away the belt that had her strapped to the bed. Once freed, Kagome flung herself into his arms and cried brokenly as he held and comforted her. Taking off his haori, he wrapped her in it and held her bridal style in his arms as he jumped out the window and jumped from rooftop to rooftop until he was back at the shrine.

 

He walked into the house and helped her to stand as he led her crying to her mother. Inuyasha left Kagome in her mother's care as raced back to Yuki's house and followed the girl's scent to the nearby park. He found her in a secluded area where she lay upon the grass listening to her walkman and mentally cheering for a job well done in handing Kagome over to Hojou. Inuyasha walked up to the girl and ripped the headphones from her.

 

“I know you had some part in what happened to Kagome. I know you did something you bitch.”

 

His eyes bled red as he gave over to his youkai blood and he ripped Yuki's still beating heart from her chest and fed it to her as she died. His youkai blood receded and his eyes once again turned gold as he ran and leapt the way back to his pack sister's side. Hojou was dead and they could spend the rest of the time here worry free as Kagome healed in her mother's arms.

 

 

 

 

Back in the Feudal Era, Shinta took Tiyeko with her as she visited the village that Maika grew up in, looking for the inuyoukai female that had become a pup of her own.

 

“What the hell happened here?” the kitsune asked as he saw the bloodshed in the abandoned hut.

 

“A needless, senseless massacre,” Shinta answered as she followed the weak scent of Maika across the village to another hut.

 

Her healer's senses began screaming the closer she got to the hut and instead of knocking on door frame she burst in to see the youkai she long thought dead raping his own daughter as she lay still and unmoving, no sound issuing from her.

 

Although rabbit youkai are very gentle they're also highly protective as are kitsune. Shinta and Tiyeko both flew into a rage, killing all males in the hut without thought. Tiyeko removed his own haori and wrapped it around the naked female inuyoukai. He noticed the vacant glazed look in her eyes and lifted her in his arms as he carried her to Shinta.

 

“What's wrong with her?” he asked and Shinta cursed madly. “What?” he asked again.

 

“She's lost inside herself. Kuso, that Hentai youkai. If I hadn't already killed him, I'd do it again. We've gotta get her back to the palace and someone needs to get her mate.”

 

“Shinta-sama, this has happened before?”

 

“Yes…many years ago.”

 

 

Upon returning to the castle, Tiyeko carried Maika into the healer's quarters and then fetched Lord Sesshoumaru. He arrived post haste to Maika's side and listened as Shinta told him how Maika had come to be her adopted pup and what had happened to her while she had been missing this time.

 

“Will she be alright?” his face was stoic but his eyes filled with concern as he looked upon his pack sister and someone he considered a friend.

 

“There's no way to tell for sure. Time…that's all that matters now. She just needs time.”

 

“You're home now sister, just know that. Be safe in knowing that,” Sesshoumaru whispered as he kissed her brow. “You're safe now.”
