Hitchin' a Ride: Chapter Three

-1-1-1-

Kagome woke up in a room, but she didn't recognize anything in it. It looked like a hospital. She tried to sit up to get a better look but a sharp pain shot through her body and she laid back down. “H-hello?” she croaked. Her throat was so dry that she couldn't talk very loud and no one heard her. She pushed the help button on the side of her bed and a tall male nurse with silver hair and gold eyes walked in.

“What do you need?” he asked.

“W-wa-ter,” she answered in a croaky voice.

“Right away, ma'am.” He walked over to the cart by her bed and got a glass of water for her, and being a gentleman, he held the cup for her to drink the water.

“Thanks,” she said. Her voice was coming back. “What's your name?”

“Inuyasha Takahashi,” he answered with a smirk on his face.

(A/N: Now we interrupt for a commercial brake. Lol.)

“Why am I in the hospital?”

“The driver, Sango Tyson, hit a deer on the highway. Her and the man are both okay. The man's a bit of a pervert, if you ask me,” Inuyasha. “But the car… I'm very sad to report, didn't make it.”

“Ouch,” Kagome said. “That was an expensive car… it had to be. It was a Mercedes.”

“Yeah, I saw it. I'm actually the one who pulled you out. The other guy pulled Sango out. He was fine. Just a bump on the head, that's all. But with nothing in his head, I don't think it could have hurt him.”

Kagome laughed. Inuyasha didn't seem to like Miroku at all. They may have had a beef earlier, or something. That's what Kagome figured, anyway. “What's it with you and Miroku?”

“Oh, just how he was acting like a pervert around all the women in the hospital.” Inuyasha looked down at a clipboard then up at Kagome. “We'll need to get some tests then you should be able to leave.”

“Is Sango and Miroku still here, or did they leave?”

“They told me to call them when you wake up. They got a motel room on the other end of town.”

“Really?” Kagome asked astonished. “How long was I in here?”

“Three days. You woke up the first night, told us something about your mom, her guy, and your ex and to not let them know you're here. And we'll need some information. I'll be back in about fifteen minutes. If you need anything then just hit the button.” Inuyasha walked out of the room with his royal blue smock trailing behind him.

Kagome lay back down all the way and looked out the window. She had been there for a whole three days. First thing that came to mind as she sat there was Sota. Kagome had not been able to check on him for all that time. What if something bad had happened to him?

There was a beeping noise and Kagome couldn't figure it out. What is that noise? she thought. It wouldn't stop. As she focused more on the noise than anything else she realized that it was her cell phone. It was ringing, but it sounded distant. It kept getting louder and louder, but she couldn't figure out why. Then she heard her name, “Kagome. Kagome, are you okay?” It was Sango!

Kagome's vision got blurry and she looked up and saw Sango. She was no longer in the hospital, either. She was on the ground with three people around her. Two of which she recognized, and the other… well she didn't know who he was. He had the same silver hair and golden eyes as the man in the hospital named Inuyasha. “Inuyasha!” she said.

“How do you know my name?” he asked.

“You told me! In the hospital. You're my nurse… Inuyasha Takahashi! Remember? You can't tell me you don't! You told me I was in there for three days and I woke up on the first day and told you about my mom, her husband, and my ex, Naraku!” Kagome told them.

“I'm an intern at Grengedale Hospital, and my name is Inuyasha Takahashi, but I don't know how you know that,” Inuyasha said with a confused look on his face.

“You told me! And Sango and Miroku got a motel, on the other side of town! Hey! Where's my cell phone? It was ringing at the hospital!” Kagome explained.

“Oh!” Miroku exclaimed. “It started ringing right before you woke up and quit. The name that came up was Keade, and that's all I can tell ya.” Miroku handed her the phone.

She sat up slowly.

“Are you okay?” Sango asked. “You hit your head pretty hard on my dashboard.”

“Yeah, I'm fine. I need to call my brother though.” She dialed Keade's number. “Hello? Yeah this is Kagome, can I talk to Sota? What do you mean they took him! Where to? I'm coming back and I'm getting him! Fuck that! It isn't kidnapping! He's my fucking brother! Yeah I'm on my way now!” Kagome clicked her phone off.

“So the bastards took your brother,” Sango said.

“Yeah! And they're headin' to Ohio! I have to get him before they get to Toledo. Can we make a detour?” Kagome asked.

Sango looked at the pile of junk on the road. “Well not in my car. I don't think it's goin' anywhere except for to the bone yard.”

“We can take mine,” Inuyasha offered. “I don't mind.”

I'm so sorry that this chapter is so late! And I'm even more sorry that it is so short. Well, I'm about equally sorry on each. But it wasn't my fault! My cousin got sick and I was helping take care of her, and a friend that I never get to see came home for a while. I'll try to get back to updating a lot. I'm still very sorry. Oh, and the hospital is pronounced Grenge-dale and I made it totally up… I think. I'm pretty sure there isn't a Grengedale anywhere. R&R XOXO Tormented Hanyou
