Hitchin' a Ride: Chapter Six

Kagome looked at the motel room that Sota told her that they were in. How was she going to get him out of there? She looked back at Inuyasha and she practically begged him to help her, but only with her eyes. He got out of the car and went over to her.

 

“What is it?”

 

“I can't—”

 

“Don't say you can't! You have to get him out of there ASAP! It's very important! Kagome, he's in serious danger.”

 

“How? Do you know something that I don't or something?” Kagome looked at him and wouldn't drop her gaze. He turned away. “Don't you turn away! You look me in the eyes and you tell me what I don't know!” she ordered.

 

“Damn it, Kagome, Naraku and Jay are murders! About ten years ago they worked together to steal the Shikon Jewel from a high-class jewelry store in Boston. They got it, and killed two of the clerks, Kikyo Moore and Koga Wolfe. And three officers on their way out of Massachusetts.” Inuyasha sighed. “I'm an undercover FBI agent and I needed you to lead me to them…”

 

“You're not an intern, are you?” He looked away again. “Are you?”

 

“No, damn it, I'm not! But you had to come! Kagome,” he sighed again, “would you have came if I would have told you that I was?”

 

“Probably! I would definitely know that you would really help me! Why did you lie? Was everything you told me a lie?”

 

“No, Kagome! Damn, why would I lie about everything? That's bullshit!” Inuyasha was mentally slapping himself. Why did he have to tell her then? Why couldn't he have gone in, saved her brother, and then told her?

 

“Well, then, help me save my brother!” She felt like slapping him across the face as hard as she could, but at the same time, she felt like crying on his shoulder.

 

“Okay. Now, what I'll need you to do is knock on the door and say, `House keeping,' then they should let you in. I'll be right behind you the whole time, so don't worry. I won't let anything happen to you. I promise.”

 

Kagome looked back at Sango and Miroku. Sango gave her thumbs up and Kagome nodded her head in return. Then she nodded it again at Inuyasha. “Okay.”

 

She went over and knocked on the door as planned. “House keepin',” she said in a voice that wasn't hers.

 

“We don't need it!” snapped someone on the other side. She knew it was Naraku.

 

“What now?” she whispered.

 

Inuyasha knocked really loud on the door. “FBI! Open up!”

 

“Shit!” Naraku yelled. “Get the fuck away! I have a hostage and I will kill him!”

 

“Sota!” Kagome yelled. She tried her hardest to knock the door down, but it wouldn't budge.

 

“Naraku, let the boy go!” Inuyasha yelled. “He isn't a part of this!”

 

“Yes he is! And so is the bitch out there with you!”

 

“Damn you, don't you call Kagome a bitch, you fucker! Let Sota go and we can talk! If the boy dies, it's straight to prison and death roe!”

 

“I'm a dead man anyway!” Naraku yelled. “What makes him so fuckin' special?”

 

“Naraku,” Kagome said, “let him go and I'll go with you!”

 

“Oh now that sounds nice! Your sweet ass never would give up to me… this time it'll be different, won't it?” Nothing. “WON'T IT?” he yelled.

 

“Yes!”

 

“Kagome, what the fuck are you doing?” Inuyasha asked.

 

She showed him a gun. He recognized it. The gun was his. “I knew that you were an FBI agent. I stole this… I knew you wouldn't let me have because you know I will kill him,” Kagome whispered.

 

“You'll get hurt, damn it!” He grabbed her by the waist and pulled her into a passionate kiss. “Don't get hurt,” he whispered into her ear after pulling away. “I love you.”

 

“How? We just met.”

 

“Okay, now Kagome,” Naraku said, “come over to the door and I'll give you your fuckin' brother. I don't see what you love about that arrogant ass anyway.”

 

She did as told and walked over to the door. He opened the door and pulled her into the room and didn't let Sota out.

 

“Hey, you fucker, you lied!” Kagome yelled.

 

“And you think I'm a man of my word? Hun, I've killed, stole, raped… like hell I'd keep my word to another piece of ass!”

 

“Fuck your self, asshole!” Kagome kicked him the balls and picked up her unconscious and ran for the back door. She knew there had to be one. Or at least a window to get out of.

 

Kagome looked back and saw Naraku staggering to catch up with her. She screamed and Inuyasha heard it. “KAGOME!” he yelled.

 

She kept running and she pushed Sota out of a window onto a balcony. They were on the second floor, so there weren't many places to run. Inuyasha saw her and ran over. He picked up Sota and grabbed her hand. “C'mon!”

 

Kagome ran with him. Every once-in-a-while she looked back to see if Naraku was after them. Nothing. He wasn't there.

 

They ran down the stairs and got into Inuyasha's car. “What's wrong with him?” Miroku asked?

 

“I don't know,” Kagome panted. “He was unconscious when I found him.” She took deep breaths very close together.

 

“When did you steal my gun?” Inuyasha asked.

 

“You stole his gun!” Miroku exclaimed.

 

“You've got a gun!” Sango's jaw about dropped to the floor. “Why in the hell would an intern need a fuckin' gun?”

 

“He's not an intern,” Kagome said.

 

“Then what the fuck is he?” Sango asked.

 

“He's a fuckin' FBI agent.”

 

“What?” Sango and Miroku asked in unison.

 

“It turns out Naraku was worse than what we thought,” Kagome informed them. “He's a murder, thief, and rapist.”

 

“What?” they repeated.

 

“Yeah, that's what I was like when I found out.”

 

“And,” Inuyasha added, “We didn't know he was a rapist so he just confessed.”

 

“So how did you know that I was going after Naraku?” Kagome asked.

 

Inuyasha sighed again. He seemed to do that a lot. “We tapped your phone.”

 

“But it's a new phone! How did you tap it?”

 

“You remember that woman you bought the phone from?”

 

“In the Sprint store? Yeah.”

 

“She's an undercover FBI agent as well. She was ordered to make sure you bought that phone.”

 

Kagome looked at him with bug eyes. “Is everyone undercover?”

 

“Not everyone. Only her and me… so far that you've met anyway,” Inuyasha informed her.

 

“You guys sound like the CIA with all the secrets and stuff.”

 

“No, many people think that the CIA is more secret, although in many ways they are, we have to keep our missions secret too.”

 

Sango lost the conversation when they started to talk about the tapped phone. Miroku lost it when they were talking about Naraku being a rapist.

 

“So… you're after Naraku…?” Sango asked, trying to get the jest of it all.

 

“Yeah,” Inuyasha and Kagome said in unison.

 

“And Kagome got twisted in the middle because they kidnapped her brother…?”

 

“Yeah,” they repeated.

 

“And now I'm takin' you guys to a safe house, because he is definitely after all y'all now,” Inuyasha added.

 

“No fuckin' way am I hiding out for the rest of my fuckin' life!” Kagome protested. “We're getting my brother to a doctor and then you're takin' us home to get his stuff. Then I'm takin' my brother to where ever I'm goin' and that's how it's a'gonna be!”

 

“Sis'…” groaned Sota from the back seat.

 

“Bub'!” She turned around in the front and looked back at her younger brother. “It's okay I got you away from them! You're not gonna have to see any of them ever again!”

 

“That's not…” he stopped and groaned in pain again, “… it. They… killed Mom…”

 

“WHAT?” Kagome yelled.

 

“And…” he stopped again and turned his head into the seat then back at her, “they poisoned me…”
