Chapter 12: Meeting New Friends and Foes (Pt.2)

After Sakura heard the whole story Kouga had told her; he fell asleep. She stayed by Kouga's side even after he had fallen into a slumber. However, he didn't rest for long when he heard someone approaching them. He jerked up startling Sakura.

"Someone is coming…" Kouga whispered and sniff the air. "Kagura…"

"But you are still hurt," Sakura said worriedly. "You are not planning to go out there are you?"

"She will kill both of us if I don't fight." Kouga said getting up. "Besides my wounds are healing."

"I can help." Sakura said running over to Ah Aun and untie the halberd off the saddle swigging it swiftly behind her back like she does that everyday. "I know how to fight."

"I can't let a girl go out there." Kouga said his voice strangled though he had to admit that the way the girl handled that halberd like no ordinary girl would.

"No time to argue over that," Sakura said turning around to the cave entrance. "I think she knows we are here."

She jumped on Ah Aun then.

"Whoa, wait up!" Kouga said jumping up behind her.

Ah Aun took off then flying out the cave and towards the grounds. Sakura jumped off Ah Aun even before he reached the ground and landed safely on her feet and came face to face with Kagura. It was the first time she had seen her before and Sakura stared.

"Kagura?"

"I'm flattered little girl," Kagura smiled. "You know me, but unfortunately I don't. I'm here for the wolf boy. If you don't want to die, stay out of this."

"Feh, speak for yourself." Kouga came up next to Sakura.

"I see your wounds are healing." Kagura sneered as she opened her fan. "Very well, maybe it's time to add a few more."

Sakura felt bad aura rising up in the air and quickly summersault away from harm, but Kouga still slightly injured didn't managed to get away that fast got hit by the wind.

"Kouga-kun!" Sakura cried.

"You fight pretty good little girl." Kagura said. "Maybe you are a better opponent than this wolf boy."

"Leave her alone!" Kouga cried standing up again. "That was nothing; I wasn't even hurt by it."

"Hmpff!" Kagura sniffed rudely. "Fujinomai."

She swings her fan again this time catching both Sakura and Kouga, but Sakura got up to her feet and moved swiftly over her, nearly jabbing Kagura with the halberd. Sakura's left hand hurt really bad then as she jumped back after her attack. She looked down and saw the wind and cut a long slash along her arm as blood seeped through her sleeve.

Sesshoumaru was in the air soaring in his clouds when he smelt Naraku and then blood; when he recognized the blood scent he cursed and sped up.

"Kagura…" Suddenly a soft voice called.

"What Kanna?" Kagura turned to her irritated for being interrupted.

"Naraku wants you to return." Kanna said.

"What? First he comes and tells me to kill this wolf for the shikon now he wants me to stop?"

"Sakura is not for you to kill." Kanna answered.

"Sakura?" Kagura turned back to the wounded girl. "You mean this is Sakura?"

"Hai,"

"Eh, pretty girl, with good fighting skills, no wonder Sesshoumaru wants her." Kagura smirked. "Wakata!"

She pulled out her feather and both Kanna and Kagura flew off into the air. Kouga got up angrily then watching them leave.

"Damn!" He cursed. "I let them leave again!"

Sakura stared at them, slightly confused at the conflict that had started. She had heard the little girl's words very clearly.

Her voice echoed in her head. `Sakura is not for you to kill.'

What the hell did she mean by that? Sakura wondered.

"Are you alright?" Kouga asked. "I'm sorry I drag you into this."

"I'm fine." Sakura said with a smile. "It is just a small cut."

"You know you remind me of someone very much." Kouga said looking at her. "Your attitude and your helpfulness…"

"Really…" Sakura tilt her head wonderingly.

"KOUGA!!!!"

Both of them turned to see two other youkai and a pack of wolfs came running up.

"You guys are late!" Kouga snapped.

"You left so fast we didn't have time to catch up." One of them said.

"Hurry up next time." Kouga said angrily and sniff the air then and stalled.

"What's up Kouga-kun?" Sakura asked.

"Oh, I got to go," Kouga said with a wink. "I have some friends to meet."

"OK," Sakura said hesitantly. "Sayonara…"

"Ja…" Kouga said getting ready to go off.

Sakura turned away from him then with her head bowed and was about to walk away when she heard Kouga said under his breath.

"I'm sure that is Kagome's scent." With that he took off.

Sakura looked up stunned she turned around to see the pack had already started running away from her.

"WAIT!!!!!" Sakura screamed. "KOUGA-KUN!!!!!"

She dashed towards them trying to catch up with the already disappearing pack but was stopped when someone grabbed hold of her waist pulling her back.

"Let go!" Sakura yelled trying to free herself. "KOUGA-KUN, WAIT!!!!!!"

Sesshoumaru was in a distant when he saw Kagura and Kanna took off. He watched Sakura said her good byes with that wolf prince but out of a sudden she just turned around and started to go after them. Anger siege within him to see Sakura running after another male he flew down towards her with his demon speed to stop her. He got even angrier when she struggled in his hold.

Sakura had no idea who was holding her back she twist her head around to see Sesshoumaru, she became even more furious

"What are you doing?" Sakura cried. She felt so much like crying then. The only chance to see her cousin again. She is here, here in this strange place, but…. She lost that chance when Kouga left and she was stopped by this heartless Youkai… tears just felt like flowing out of her eyes. With all her inner energy left she pushed them back.

"You want that wolf youkai so much?" Sesshoumaru asked in a harsh voice. Not believing that he had asked that question too. "I had been looking for you for almost a day and you are out with that…"

"I don't know what are you talking about?" Sakura cried cutting his sentence short. "I didn't do anything! Put me down…"

"No," Sesshoumaru snapped tightening his arm around her.

"My cousin…" Sakura whispered in defeat reaching out towards the direction the pack had gone in vain.

Sesshoumaru carried her over to Ah Aun, took the halberd away from her and striped it behind Ah Aun before he jumped up behind her. He could feel she was fighting off her tiredness and pain. Pain? The blood… Sesshoumaru looked down her left arm which was still bleeding. Tearing the sleeve off, he used it to wrap it around the arm to stop the blood from flowing further.

In the air Sakura sat in front of Sesshoumaru and lay on him limply, staring straight in front of her. She heard Kouga said Kagome… her cousin's name. She was so sure of it. It was like a dream, though she couldn't get it to come true. She squeezed her eyes shut. Maybe she will be able to see him again and he will be able to tell her. Soon tiredness claimed her and she fell into a deep slumber.

Sesshoumaru could feel Sakura's body weight had totally fallen on him. He looked at her; her eyes closed looking peaceful at last. Her head had rested on the curve of his neck. Not knowing why, he pulled her closer to him and buried his face in her hair closing his eyes.

"I didn't mean to hurt you…" Sesshoumaru uttered softly before he could stop himself.

When they reached the castle, Sesshoumaru carried Sakura all the way back to his room and lay her on his bed gently. Rin came busting inside not long later.

"Sesshoumaru-sama," Her eyes were brimmed with tears. "Is Sakura-neechan going to be alright?"

"She is tired." Sesshoumaru said softly. "Don't cry she will be alright."

"Demo…"

"Remember Sakura told you to be brave?" Sesshoumaru said softly and gently; a voice which was unknown even to him.

"Hai," Rin made a loud sniff and stopped crying.

"Why don't you go find Jaken to play with you Rin?" Sesshoumaru said as he sat next to Sakura. "Leave her to rest."

"OK…" Rin said reluctantly but did as she was told.

Sesshoumaru stared at Sakura, thinking that he wouldn't leave her side until she wakes up. He will not let her go out of the palace alone again as a powerful, unnamed and unwanted emotion stirred inside him once more as he was unable to cast away this powerful emotion for her this time. He wanted to protect this particular girl even more than ever as he watched her sleeping form; lifting his hand he gently caressed her cheek with his fingers, surprising himself because he never knew that this gentle side ever existed until she came along.

"Kagome," Kouga pulled her hands into his. "How are you, it had been a long time."

"Kouga-kun…" Kagome smiled uneasily. "I'm fine thanks."

"Hey, wolf boy take your stupid hands of Kagome!" Inuyasha yelled coming between them pushing him away. "Stay away or you will regret it."

"What do you want Dog Breath!" Kouga shouted back as they growled at each other.

However Inuyasha's growl was cut short to a sniff.

"What the hell are you doing?" Kouga said disgusted. "Sniffing at me like that?"

"You smell like," Inuyasha frowned. "You smell like Sakura…"

"Huh?" Kouga looked at Inuyasha stunned. "I smell like flowers? You got to be kidding me?"

"Sakura?" Kagome exclaimed. "Kouga-kun, did you recently just seen a girl?"

"Well, actually I just had a fight with Kagura but that b**** got away." Kouga said. "And true enough there was a girl by the name of Sakura."

"Where is she?" Kagome grabbed hold of Kouga's arms them. "Tell me, where did you last saw her?"

"Somewhere not far off..." Kouga said slightly shocked at Kagome's outburst. "You know her or something? I don't know whether she is still there, she travels around with this weird two headed creature that flies or something."

"That two headed dragon…" Kagome said shakily. "I saw Sesshoumaru used it before… oh no… she is still with him?"

"She was alone," Kouga said.

"Alone?" Kagome brightened up slightly.

"Yeah, looks like it."

"I think she must have escape." Miroko said suddenly coming up next to Kagome. "She might have stolen Sesshoumaru's dragon and escape."

"If Sesshoumaru finds her, I have feeling she is going to be a goner." Sango added in looking thoughtful.

Kagome paled and turned to Inuyasha. "We have to go there quick.

"Kouga," Miroko said. "Mind if you show us the way?"

"No problem, if she is Kagome's friend I don't mind helping."

"She is my cousin…" Kagome whispered as she got on Inuyasha.

Sango, Miroko and Shippo jumped on Kirara and they all took off following Kouga to the destination. When they reached the clearing they couldn't find anyone. Inuyasha started to sniff for clues then.

"Anything Inuyasha?" Kagome asked hopefully.

"I don't think it is something you will not like to hear, Kagome." Inuyasha said standing up again looking at her with guilt. "Sesshoumaru was here, I think he found her before we did."

Kagome fainted then.

*************************************************************** *********************

Sakura opened her eyes slowly and was welcomed by a huge white dog staring back at her. Her eyes snapped opened widely and realized that it was just a carving on the ceiling. She blinked trying to think. She remembered Reisha told her the first time she was here that the room she was in was Sesshoumaru's room with this big white dog above. She quickly sat up but winced and the sharp pain on her arm. The room was already in darkness for it was already night.

"You shouldn't make sudden movements." She then heard a low deep and calm voice said behind her.

She turned to see Sesshoumaru sitting by the bed leaning back on the wall. She quickly back away from him, almost falling off the bed.

"Why am I here?"

"I brought you back." Sesshoumaru said emotionlessly. "Why did you leave?"

"I'm sorry I ran away…" Sakura said turning away from him. "I didn't mean too… I just wanted to go out for a ride and went too far… I didn't know how to get back."

Sesshoumaru remained silent watching the girl's pain stricken face. He had taken all his strength to push down the urge to hold her in his arm then to bring back the girl's smile.

Sakura turned back to him then, he was watching her; his eyes hidden in the shadows. So Sakura wasn't sure what his reaction was at that time. She then remembered the time when Sesshoumaru got angry at her because of Kouga; she took a deep breath and continued after a short silence passed.

"About Kouga-kun…"

"What about him?" Sesshoumaru's suddenly sounding harsh.

"I saw him wounded, and helped him…" Sakura said softly her voice quivered slightly thinking about Kagome. "Then he said something about my cousin before he took off… I thought he knew something... I just wanted to make sure… so I ran after him…

Sesshoumaru sat in the shadows stiffly when Sakura spoke of Kouga, when she explained why she took off after him and the reason was because she thought he knew about her cousin not because she wanted to be with him actually made him relieved. He frowned then, if she found her cousin that would mean that she would be leaving… he shook the thought off quickly. But on the other hand, why must he care anyway.

"I may have been dreaming anyway." Sakura laughed bitterly. "Well, I guess I should forget about it now…"

"Sleep…" Sesshoumaru unable to hold back his desire to embrace her anymore reached out for her then and gently pull her towards him; she lay on his chest. "Get some rest."

Sakura stiffened when Sesshoumaru pulled her towards him put she didn't protest as she lay on his chest listening to his calm heartbeat. His scent was like spice, grass and water; relaxing her, making her comfortable as she cuddled closer to him for warmth and closed her eyes. It had been a long time since she felt comfortable and above all, the feeling of security.

Sesshoumaru tightened his embrace around her, rested his head on top of her head and close his eyes to rest too as a thought came into his mind.

Why does this particular girl had this kind of effect on me? This unknown feeling, what is it exactly?

Ray: Shhhhh, they will kill me if they are disturbed (shutting the door quietly)

Kouga: Hey, what is the big deal? (Spoke extra loudly to annoy Ray)

Ray: (Giving him a glare) Kouga, I regret putting you into the story

Kouga: Well it is your idea, leave with it. (Smile cheekily)

Ray: *sigh* it is a pity that I like you Kouga.

Kouga: (Put his arm around her shoulders) Oh really then wanna go on a date with me?

Ray: In your dreams (Pushed his arm away angrily)

Suddenly Inuyasha came trashing his Tessaiga down the nearest vase and it crashed to the floor with a loud bang.

Ray: WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE INUYASHA!!!! (The door knob twisted near by) OH SHIT!!!! (Grabbed her laptop and ran)

Inuyasha: Opps so much of wanting to practice my Bakuriuhao…

Sesshoumaru came out with his Toikijin then. Sakura trailed behind him rubbing her eyes sleepily.

Sesshoumaru: You are dead little bro…

Inuyasha: Huh? You wanna fight? Fine with me!

Ray's thoughts: There goes my working place (Hiding in the shadows) It is a good thing I use laptop. Easy to run with it.

Kouga: So much for saying you regret putting me in, hey… (Whispered next to her grinning)

Ray: Haha… very funny…
