Chapter 25: The Light of Rebirth

"Ah, this is rare you know," The jeweler said as he held Sakura's left hand up studying the ring she had on her fourth finger with a magnifying glass. "This ring is one of a kind. It is a pair if I'm not mistaken, a couple's ring."

Sakura had gone into a small jewelry shop in the city after school to get Kagome a birthday present. Her birthday was coming and she was planning to celebrate it at home. But her new found boyfriend Yash had suggested celebrating her birthday in his father's café instead. They can practically call the whole form to attend her birthday. Kagome was convinced that Yash was a reincarnation of Inuyasha, Sakura could feel the same too but he couldn't remember anything of the pass though he did felt like he knew Kagome for a long time, beside that Kagome didn't mind at all if he couldn't remember. She was happy that she could be with him again after nearly half a year of missing him had passed.

"I would buy it from you for a hundred thousand yen!" The jeweler said.

"What?" Sakura looked at the man amazed. "A hundred thousand?"

"Two hundred thousand then…" The man quickly changed the price thinking that Sakura might think the price was too low.

"Oh, you misunderstood me…" Sakura laughed uneasily when she realized the ring so valuable. "I wouldn't sell this ring to anyone… sorry…"

"Oh what a pity…" He replied.

"By the way, why is it so rare?" Sakura asked. "It looked like a normal ring to me…"

"Well, it is a ring carved long time ago…" The man said taking an old book out from the bottom of the counter and flipped to the page. "Here take a look at it. I was amazed I could be looking at the real thing."

"Anyone could carve a ring like that…" Sakura replied as she read looked down at the book the man had opened for her. "I mean, there is so much duplicated items around, I'm sure there are many others rings that would look like mind…"

"That is true…" The man said. "But look carefully at your own ring my dear girl. Can you see those carvings? It is one of the kind; it is only made one pair in the whole world."

Sakura stared at the man with surprised and looked at the book he had opened for her. There was a picture of two rings identical rings like hers and Sesshoumaru's on the page. She read the paragraph of the history of the ring slowly.

`This ring was carved many centuries ago by a traveler, who had given this ring to a fortunate little girl. Nobody had seen him ever again, and the two rings whereabouts were unknown. It was heard that, the rings would bind the heart and soul of the couple who owned it, together forever.'

"Little girl?" Sakura reread the line softly. "Would it be Rin?"

"What was it?" The man asked.

"Oh nothing…" Sakura shook her head. "So no one could make a duplicate of this ring? Didn't anyone tried?"

"Well, they did of course, but it could never be the same." The man said taking out a tray filled the duplicated ones. "Look for yourself and compared them to your ring."

Sakura studied those rings carefully and then her ring she wore on her finger. She blinked, what the man said was true. The strange carvings on the ring could never be the same no matter how much they tried to duplicate it.

"You must be very lucky to be able to get the real thing." The man said.

"I guess…" Sakura replied softly.

"That's right," The man wondered. "The history actually said both the rings were actually given away to a little girl… I wonder what happened to the other one…"

Sakura shrugged and smiled.

"Mister, I'll take this bracelet!" She quickly changed the subject holding out a beautiful silver bracelet with pink like jewels around it like the Shikono Tama. "Please wrap it; it is a present for someone special."

"You better don't make trouble here Yash…"

"Oh please, oniikee…" Yash cried desperately. "She is someone very special to me; don't be such a prick could you?"

"I can't understand why father let you do as you please."

"You don't have to be here if you don't want to…" Yash smiled slyly. "Father trusts me that is why he let me have this birthday party here."

The door bell of the café rang as Sakura walked inside. Yash turned around and saw her walking in smiling brightly. Yash's brother narrowed his eyes slightly as he watched the girl standing by the door, wondering whether this was the girl Yash was going out with. He had seen the girl before! In his dreams, he had been dreaming of her ever since he was a child.

"Hey, Sakura!" Yash called running over to her. "So what did you get?"

"Here take a look…" Sakura passed her the brown paper bag. "It took me nearly the whole afternoon at the shop to choose what I think she would like."

"Don't tell me you are going to give it to her like that?" Inuyasha said disbelieving as he took the brown paper bag into his hand. "I thought girls would like their things wrapped properly."

"Do'aho!!!!" Sakura cried knocking his head with her fists. "The shop didn't have any wrappers I was going down the mall down this street to get it wrapped but I thought I would stop by here and show it to you first."

"Itai…" Yash rubbed his forehead softly. "I was just kidding; you don't have to hit me…"

"Serve you right…" Sakura folded her arms angrily. "I wonder how my cousin can put up with you…"

"Hey, you're going to the mall?" Yash cried cheerfully immediately again passing the paper bag back to her without bothering to take a look. "I'll come with you. I need to get my present wrap too!"

"I'll wait for you outside." Sakura said reaching for the door.

However before she did she turned around for a moment when she felt someone was watching her the whole time ever since she stepped inside and saw a man with his shoulder length long black hair tied into a low ponytail behind the counter staring at her. He looked somewhat familiar with his flawless features and fair skin. Sakura blinked wonderingly before she stepped out of the café again.

"Yash, who is that girl?"

"Huh?" Yash looked at his brother, surprised. He reached over the counter and took out a paper bag which contain Kagome's present. "Sakura? Oh, she is Kagome's cousin, goes to the same school as us and stays with Kagome… why?"

"No particular reason…" He replied and turned away from Yash.

Yash raised an eyebrow at his brother before he turned to leave with his present. His brother never took any interest in any girls before though many girls always tried to get his attention. He was surprised that his brother had asked him about Sakura. Shrugging away his thoughts he ran out to meet Sakura who waited for him at the sidewalk.

Yash brother turned around again to see through the glass windows as Yash walked away with the girl he had so often dream about. He had always seen her in his dreams, though he did not understand what they meant. Thinking that it was a dream and no such girl existed, he was very much astounded to have seen her walking into their café today.

"Sakura kah…?" He whispered as he watched her and Yash disappeared around the corner.

**************************************************************** ********************

Days passed…

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!" Everyone shouted throwing ribbons up in the air.

"Arigatou mina!" Kagome cried happily.

Soon the cakes were cut and all the students were dancing on the dance floor Yash had made after pushing all the tables aside. Sakura was dancing with a boy in her class, though after for a while she decided she needed a break when the slow song came up.

"Come on, one dance…" The boy said.

"I'm tired, Fugi-san…" Sakura smiled apologetically. "Look, Yuki-chan is free why don't you dance with her!"

"Oh alright…" Fugi said rather reluctantly but went over to Yuki anyways.

With a sigh of relieve Sakura walked away from the dance floor and looked back at her cousin. Kagome had been so happy ever seen she met Yash. Sakura smiled softly seeing Kagome leaning on his shoulders looking very content and comfortable. She turned away from them and left the café then. Outside the cooling air, Sakura took a deep breath. There were other chairs and tables outside the café for those who smoke as she sat down on one of the chairs looking down at the ring she was wearing.

"A girl shouldn't be staying out here alone…"

A voice made Sakura jumped slightly as she turned around to see a silhouette standing not far from her leaning on the wall of the café.

"Who are you?" Sakura asked.

"Yash older brother…" He replied as he stepped out into the light. "Shouma Takashi…"

Sakura immediately recognized that he was the man she saw behind the counter when she went to look for Yash the other afternoon days ago before Kagome's birthday. He was really good looking and his cool calm ways reminded Sakura of Sesshoumaru, as he walked up to her. He was wearing a simple white, collared, long sleeved with buttons shirt. He had left a few buttons loose near the collar exposing his muscled chest slightly and a silver chain slung low in his shirt.

"You are Sakura if I may call you that…" He said and took a seat next her.

"Hai, Takashi-san…" Sakura said softly looking away from him, she couldn't understand why she was drawn to this man when she had no interest in any others except Sesshoumaru.

"There is no need for such formalities my dear, call me Shouma…"

Sakura turned back to look at him.

He smiled softly. "When I saw you in the café the other day, I had a feeling like I had seen you before. I know it is like every boy's picking up line, but to tell the truth I had no idea why but I had dreams of you before even I had never met you in my life…"

Sakura inclined her head listening to him quietly.

"I was surprised when I saw you, to think a girl in my dreams actually existed."

"Sometimes, we have weird dreams…" Sakura said softly turning away from him, not understanding why he was telling her all this.

"I even dreamt that I was a demon long time ago, a taiyoukai of the western lands" He continued. "I had that dream a few days back. That was when everything became clear to me…"

Sakura turned back to him with surprised then, around his neck there was chain that he kept in his shirt now slung outside his shirt visible for Sakura to see, the chain held a ring as it sparkled at the street lamp.

"What is that?" Sakura asked pointing to his ring on the chain.

"This," He replied with a smile, holding the ring in his hand. "I had this ever since I was a child…"

"Can I have a look at it?"

"Go ahead…" He replied softly not taking his eyes of her.

Slowly she reached over to the ring and held it in her right hand. Raising her left hand she compared the ring she had on her hand with the ring around his neck. Slowly she looked up at him her eyes widened with disbelieve.

Sesshoumaru…? She wondered as she stared into his eyes. She never thought she could meet him again. It had been so long and all hope had vanished and all along he had been Yash older brother…

Shouma looked down at her with a gentle smile.

"I promise you that I will find you no matter what it takes, how long it takes, and how I must change…" He said softly as Sakura flung her arms around him.

"Sesshoumaru-sama!!!!" She cried.

"Hey," He smiled softly hugging her in return. "I am no longer Sesshoumaru my dear…"

Sakura looked up at him her eyes filled with tears as she smiled softly. Gently using his fingers he wiped those tears away.

"I'm Shouma now," He replied. "And I finally realized being human is so much better than being a demon…"

"Shouma…" Sakura whispered.

"Aishiteru…" Shouma said softly as he lowered his head capturing Sakura lips with his.

They kissed, forgetting about everything around them as the moon shone down on them, giving them a hope as their future shone brightly ahead of them as it was a beginning of a new life for both of them…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~
I hope everyone enjoyed this story… there will be some readers not satisfied with the ending cuz Sesshoumaru turned human but I was thinking of coming out with a sequel. I will write a brief summary introduction to the sequel.
`What would happened if Sesshoumaru start remembering his pass as a demon and slowly starting to change back… will he forget about Sakura and become the Ice Prince again. Or will Sakura helped him remember how he cared for her…?'
Well the sequel will be something like that. Sesshoumaru remembers the pass and start to slowly forget the present… so anyone interested, look out for `Brighter Future Ahead' I'm not sure when I will be able to put it up but I will try to write it out asap kies!!!! ;)
Pls R&R!!!! Tell me what you all think of the sequel. Thank you!!!:)
