Walking down the dank alley, the teenagers paused as they heard a shuffling noise. The shadows surrounging them were so thick it was hard to see two feet in front of their face, let alone the exit of the ill chosen shortcut. The fog rolled in layers around their feet. Then the noise came again.

"What was that?" Kagome asked, turning her head sharply either way, searching for the source of the noise. Her ebony hair splayed across her face as she did so, creating a curtain covering her eyes. A prick of pain shot through her arm and before she could scream, she fell to the ground.

Inuyasha grabbed her off the broken concreted ground. Peering around he searched for the orgin of Kagome's pain. A discarded, rust encrusted needle lay about a foot to her left. He heard two more crashes and looked up and saw Kouga and Miroku fall. He slowly laid Kagome down. He felt people staring at him. Sango and Shippo were on either side of him and two others were across from him. Shippo fell next. Inuyasha jumped around hoping to catch his friends attacker. As he did, he felt something hit him on the head. Blood ran down his face, and he slowly wiped it off. Spinning around he caught someone in the jaw with his fist, then someone else grabbed his arm and with a sting, he went down.

A blinding pain shot through her body. Kagome drudgingly tried to open her eyes. 'What happened?' She thought. A glaring light assulted her eyes and she quickly shut them tight. She tried to lift her hands up to wipe her eyes, but they were bound. Wiggling her legs, she found them bound too, at the ankles and at the knees. The ropes cut deeply into her skin. She moved her wrists, trying to loosen the twine handcuffs and sate her pain. She felt some liquid seep down her hands onto her fingers and her breath caught in her throat. Her upper right arm and right back spasmed with pain. She winced trying not to cry out. The pain slowly subsided into a dull throbbing. She gradually opened her eyes. The darkness faded into a sliver of hazy light. She was sitting in an unlit room with the sun shining through some boards right in her face. The rest of the room was inky and drab. A fine sheen of dust covered the floor and the walls. Glancing around she saw a pile in the corner. Too scared to get close, Kagome openly stared at it, hoping to get some idea of what it was. The pile moved. She noticed an arm and a leg sticking out from the pile. It was her friends. She scooted, as best she could, close to them, calling their names as she saw them.
"Kouga, please..Sango, no, wake up. Shippo, Inuyasha, Miroku..."Her whispered voice faded into the darkness. "What happened? Where are we? Why are we here?"

Her silent broken sobs reached Kouga's ears. He tried to move, tried to open his eyes, let her know he was okay. It was as if his limbs didnt answer to him anymore, almost as if they were commanded by someone else. Sluggishly, he opened his mouth, daring it to not obey him. "Ka...Kago..." It was all he could get out before his voice left him as fast as the wind.
