Mizuki

 

I had been in Guangzhou for over a month and I was impatient to return to the West. Jin and I had a truce and I found out that I relished his company. We loved sparring together because in his opinion I was one of the few individuals who could best him properly. Teegan had become a pest and I wanted Jin to have her banished from court but I held my tongue. I still felt that I had usurped her place but it was not a place I was going to give up now. Jin was relaxed more and acted more like the inu I had first met in the forest outside of Guangzhou. He was dutiful and doting Lord. The Panyu inu adored their ruler and I never interfered in his affairs of state. I kept up a steady correspondence with my family in the West and my father wanted me to have the pup here so I would not be encumbered by the pup. I was content for the first time in awhile. Kazuo and Hiroto had become the darlings of the palace and they ate up the attention.

I was in the dojo finishing up a strenuous work out with Jin when my stomach growled in hunger. Jin smirked at me and came over and kissed my forehead.

“We need to feed you and the pup before you devour a horse.” He said smirking.

“That is disgusting! Deer or boar is much better.” I said wrinkling my nose.

“Come my silver princess.” He said pulling me to the dining hall.

“So which is it going to be; deer or boar?” I said smirking.

“I believe we are going to have the rare beef and oolong soup this evening.” He said keeping pace with me.

“Well you may as well give me yours because I am starving.” I teased him.

“Whatever you want.” He said stopping me and nuzzling my neck.

We had strong feelings for one another but refused to say we loved each other. We had fallen into an easy and good relationship. I saw Teegan and I stiffened in Jin's embrace and he looked over at her. She disappeared quickly and nothing was said.

“Come let us eat.” He said quietly.

“Hai.” I murmured.

I was uneasy but allowed myself to be led to the dining hall and my dinner.

I awoke in the middle of the night feeling like I could not breathe. I clawed at my throat and had profound thirst. I sucked in air as quickly as I could and I tried to sit up and promptly fell back. I was so dizzy and my vision was blurred.

“Jin!” I cried hoarsely.

“Jin.” I tried to scream.

Panic took over my mind and I opened my mind to Jin wide open. I felt wetness between my legs and then my mind started screaming. Jin ran into his chambers and saw me almost convulsing on the futon.

“Asuna!” he cried.

“Jin the pup?” I asked in a barely unrecognizable voice.

“You are bleeding. Damn it!” he cursed loudly.

He screamed for a servant and one came in.

“Get Mayu and the healer in here now!” he yelled.

My hands were shaking and I felt between my thighs and I lifted my fingers and they were stained scarlet. I tried to scream but could not my throat felt as though it was closing. I tried to focus my eyes on Jin but could not. Mayu and the healer ran into the room.

“Oh my Kamis! Can you scent it?” Mayu exclaimed to the healer.

“Hai!” the young female healer exclaimed.

“What is it? What do you scent?” Jin exclaimed frightened.

Mayu came to my side and looked at the healer.

“Do you have Calabar beans here?” she asked.

“Hai. I will run to the apothecary and get them.” The healer said.

“What is wrong with her?” Jin thundered.

My face was covered in tears and sweat and I listened as well as I could. Mizuki was alive but we were going to have to get her out and quickly. I was petrified in fear.

“Scent the air my Lord. There is a sweet smell. That is belladonna.” Mayu said calmly but I knew she was afraid.

“Someone poisoned her?” he asked in a terrible fury.

“Hai my Lord. Chinese food is sweeter than Japanese and could easily hide the taste of the plant.” Mayu said mopping my head with a cloth.

The healer ran back in with something I could not see and I heard stone on stone grinding something.

“My darling Lady you will have to drink this and quickly. I am going to have to cut the pup from your belly like I had to do with you and Osamu.” Mayu said to me quietly.

Jin sat me up and Mayu poured a gritty substance down my throat and did not stop. She massaged my throat to help me swallow and my hands shook badly. My mind was panicking because it was still early for Mizuki to be born. I braced my mind and tried to calm down but I kept screaming in my deepest parts for Naraku. I knew it had to have been Teegan who tried to kill me and my pup. I now officially hated her and wished all manner of death on her.

Mayu poured several cupfuls of the gritty antidote down my throat and very slowly I started to see well. I could feel Jin's fear as I looked down and there was a slowly widening pool of blood between my thighs.

“Get her out, get her out now!” I screamed.

“My Lady she may already be dead.” Mayu said trying to calm me.

“No she lives yet. I feel her yoki, Mayu save my girl. Mayu promise me! Save my daughter.” I said entreating my former nursemaid.

“Hai my Lady.” She said quickly.

“My Lord hold her down. This will be painful.” Mayu commanded Jin.

Jin nodded and held my upper body firmly. Mayu pulled out a pouch that had a small sharp blade.

“Healer brings me many clean cloths.” She commanded.

“Hai.” The healer said.

I watched the young female healer run off and I watched Mayu hold up the blade. Fear gripped me and I mentally braced myself for what I knew was coming. My aunt's books called this a Caesarean Section.

“Mayu you swore. Save her, you promised me you would save her. Mayu please.” I sobbed.

“Hai my Lady.” She said as her lip quivered.

She pressed the blade to my lower belly and cut deep and sure. I screamed not only with my voice but mind. Belly wounds were horrendous to endure but I managed to scream in my mind only after the first cut. Jin had to hold me forcefully as Mayu worked. I felt him before I saw him. There was a terrible rage coming from Naraku as he had heard me.

“You!” Jin hissed as held me down.

“What in Kamis name are you doing?” he snarled in rage at Mayu.

“Jin no! Naraku she is saving the pup.” I whimpered.

Naraku's eyes were burning and hatred evident. Jin's beast was close to the surface and Mayu kept cutting the layers to she reached my womb.

“Jin. Let him see her born, please for me.” I whispered hoarsely.

“Hai I will deal with him later.” He snarled into my ear.

“Lord Naraku take that cloth over there and bring it here.” Mayu said quietly.

Naraku did as he was bade and kneeled next to Mayu.

“This is not natural and what is that sickly sweet stink.” Naraku growled low to Mayu.

“Lord she was poisoned with belladonna.” Mayu replied very low.

“Who poisoned you Asuna?” Naraku said with barely contained yoki.

“The pup Naraku. The pup first.” I said weakly.

Jin snarled terribly and Naraku narrowed his eyes dangerously. My hanyou dipped into my mind forcefully and found the information he sought.

“Naraku do not!” I cried.

He stared at me and scowled and I knew Teegan had a death sentence. I screamed again as my womb was cut open; Naraku's frown deepened as Mayu reached in and pulled out a very blue and tiny pup. Jin continued to hold me down and his eyes had long since turned red.

“Mizuki!” I cried.

She was terribly small and obviously not breathing as Mayu cut the cord. Naraku looked almost in a state of terrible panic. She had black hair like her sire and a crescent moon on her forehead. Mayu laid her down on the cloth Naraku held.

“Breathe for her.” I cried.

“Hai my Lady.” Mayu said.

Mayu leaned over and breathed short shallow breaths into the seemingly lifeless pup. I cried openly and the healer started to stitch up my incisions. Jin had to hold me down harder and I knew there would be bruises.

“Shhhh my princess.” Jin said trying to calm me.

Jin let loose a very low growl used to comfort and console pups usually. Naraku stared helplessly at his tiny daughter. Mayu continued to try and breathe for her and my hanyou knelt down next to Mayu and took a tiny clawed hand into his. He closed his eyes and I felt the tremendous yoki that he possessed press down on the tiny body. He was trying to save her the way I had healed him when he had been bitten by koumori. I saw a tiny foot twitch and then move harder. Naraku let go of her miniature fingers and Mayu sat back. Mizuki started mewling a bit then she screamed loudly as she got a lungful of air. Mayu wrapped her in a small fur blanket and handed her to Naraku's arms. Jin was furious but kept calm. Naraku stared down at his tiny progeny and brushed black hair from her forehead. I had never seen him so tender.

“Let me see her.” I demanded of him.

He handed Mizuki to Mayu as he did not dare approach me. Jin was almost feral and by the grace of the Kamis was holding onto his sanity barely. Naraku kept his counsel but did not budge. Mayu brought me my daughter who had quit screaming and was very quiet. Her eyes were wide open and they were mahogany like her chichi's. There was no doubt that Naraku fathered her. She was tiny and perfect. Her yoki had flared back to life and it was like heaviness in the air. I noticed tiny stripes on her wrists and hips but none on her cheeks like her brothers.

“Thank you.” Naraku whispered to me and I looked up at him. My eyes were warm and loving.

“You had best leave now hanyou filth before I kill you most painfully.” Jin snarled low.

“I promise you mutt that I will face you and you will be the dead. Take good care of MY daughter and mate.” Naraku said hissing very low.

“Stop it now!” I cried.

Naraku moved swiftly and captured my lips in a ghost of a kiss then was gone. Jin, I could feel wanted to slowly shred him to the bone with his claws.

“I am sorry for my anger. I know you still love him but I love you more.” Jin declared forcefully.

“Jin.” I cried quietly.

“I know you feel the same. He said wiping my forehead.

“Hai.” I whispered.

“She is a beautiful little thing.” He said calmly.

“Thank you.” I replied.

Jin looked up at Mayu who was mopping up blood and supervising the healer stitching me closed.

“Mayu you are more than a nursemaid. You should be a healer as well.” Jin said praising her.

“I serve my Lord Sesshomaru and his family my Lord.” She said bowing.

“I want Teegan brought before me in an hour. Can you convey that to my man servant?” Jin said to Mayu.

“Hai my Lord.” Mayu said with a glint in her eyes.

I knew Mayu well enough that if she had enough time she would take out the golden haired bitch herself. Mayu bowed and left.

Mayu moved quickly down the Panyu palace halls.

“Lord Naraku!” she called quietly.

Naraku appeared from the shadows and looked at the female inu.

“My Lord! I know where the she devil is. I want to watch you tear her limb from limb.” Mayu said with a profound hatred.

“Why are you doing this?” Naraku asked narrowing his eyes.

“I know you love and adore my Lady. You saved your own pup. Asuna is like my own daughter my Lord. That disgusting evil bitch almost killed my pup!” Mayu seethed.

“Take me to the she devil so that she may meet her maker.” Naraku said smirking in malice.

“Your pup is beautiful my Lord.” Mayu said showing him the way to Teegan through the shadows.

“She is truly the most beautiful thing besides her mother that I have beheld.” Naraku murmured.

“How did you know she was in danger?” Mayu asked quietly.

“Asuna's soul can touch mine. I feel her at various times.” He said shrugging.

“Amazing!” Mayu said.

They moved quietly and to the other side of the palace compound.

“She is in that room my Lord. She is a former lover of the Panyu Lord.” She said disgusted.

“I owe you Mayu. I do not give favors very often. I am at your disposal for my daughter and mate's lives.” Naraku said bowing.

Naraku crashed in the shoji door with a limb that erupted from his body. It was in the form of a tentacle and wrapped around Teegan's leg and dragged her to him. She screamed in terror and her eyes widened in fear.

“Did you poison Lady Asuna?” he asked as his voice almost purred.

“I will not deny it! I did. Did she die quickly?” she sneered.

“No. She is quite alive and birthed my daughter quite easily.” Naraku said snickering evilly.

“She should have died and you are that thing's father?” Teegan cried.

“Hai. You will die very slowly and by my hand. I will drop you in front of the Cantonese mutt to watch you die.” He said laughing lightly.

He jerked his tentacled limb and bone snapped. Another limb erupted from him and it wrapped around her throat squeezing life from her. Teegan screamed and cried in horrid pain.

“Mayu there are others coming, go!” Naraku commanded.

Mayu went over to Teegan and spit on her.

“Do not die too fast you netherworld whore!” Mayu said slapping her.

Mayu took to the shadows and disappeared. Naraku broke her arms and legs gleefully and watched as pain contorted Teegan's formerly sweet face. He waited patiently for the powerful aura of Jin and other mutts to arrive. Teegan screamed as he twisted her body painfully.

“You!” Jin snarled.

“Hai! I want you to watch as I wring the life from her!” Naraku snarled back.

Naraku drew his hand back and sunk his claws into Teegan's neck and injected huge amounts of miasma.

“Jin please! My Lord please, I only did it for you!” she screamed in agony.

Jin drew his fang and Naraku thought it was for him but Jin sank the blade up to the hilt into Teegan's chest. Teegan's eyes held surprise and Naraku was wounded as well but watched with interest as Jin stepped back.

“You are a spineless coward poisoning a pregnant bitch. You die a coward's death without honor.” Jin said then spit on his former lover.

Naraku dropped the nearly lifeless body of Teegan and moved further away from Jin.

“Hanyou you are next. Asuna is mine now. Her pups are mine and by the Kamis I will be rid of you!” Jin said pulling his fang from Teegan's lifeless corpse.

Jin moved with incredible speed but Naraku moved quickly too. Jin sliced through a tentacle but after it hit the ground it began moving back towards Naraku.

“Stupid mutt!” Naraku hissed as he erected a powerful barrier.

Naraku decided to exit but changed form to the most grotesque form he could think of. His miasma exploded and Jin coughed and when he looked up there was a giant Tsuchigumo that moved towards him quickly. Jin braced himself and cut along the giant arachnid's belly. Miasma burst forth and Naraku knocked Jin backwards against a beam of the palace. Naraku grunted in pain and pinned the chocolate inu to the ground.

“I will come for her mutt. I WILL come for her.” The Tsuchigumo snarled in rage.

Naraku willed himself away and he was swallowed by his miasma. Jin jumped up in a fury. He walked over to the body of Teegan and frowned. He looked up at a palace guard.

“Get rid of it.” He said venomously.

“Hai my Lord!” the guard said.

Jin watched as the guard picked up the broken and lifeless body of his former lover. He hated the sight of her and turned on his heel and went back to his chambers.

Several servants had moved me gently to another chamber off Jin's sleeping chambers. I had been cleaned and so had Mizuki. She was wrapped in the fur blanket and had fed from my breast already. I was weak and exhausted and I had lost a lot of blood. Jin came in and settled next to me.

“Teegan is dead.” He said without emotion.

“I am sorry.” I said quietly.

“She was without honor and deserved her fate.” He said in anger.

“I know you loved her.” I said in a tired voice.

“No! I love you.” He corrected me.

“Jin.” I said shaking my head.

“Tell me Asuna.” He demanded in a quiet tone.

“I love you.” I whispered.

“That is all I care about.” He said kissing my lips.

“Jin.” I said my voice faltering.

“I am going to take you back to the West for a little while. Mizuki needs to meet her grandsire and grand mere.” He said lightly.

“Alright.” I agreed.

“Asuna, I thought I loved her but I know what real passion and real love are now. I know what Sheng felt for you because I feel it too and more I think. You belong to me and so do your pups. I am claiming them all, Mizuki as well.” He said in a raw voice.

He gently took Mizuki from my arms and I started to protest but he put a finger to my lips to silence me.

“Concentrate and see through my eyes.” He commanded gently.

I had done the same thing with Sheng when I had stumbled upon the traitorous bitches in Shenyang. I closed my eyes and I saw what he did. He took my daughter outside and there were many courtiers milling about. He lifted Mizuki up and cleared his throat.

“I have a daughter!” he exclaimed loudly.

The courtiers cheered and Jin lowered her into his arms.

“This is the Lady Mizuki and she will receive all honor due her station!” he declared.

The inu nobles went to their knees and bowed their heads. I opened my eyes in awe at what Jin had done and credited him with much cleverness. Mizuki had been made a noble in a powerful inu clan other than the West. Naraku was going to be beyond furious and into homicidal. I sighed and knew I was going to have to tread carefully between the two males.

“Lord Sesshomaru, I want him gone. I will follow him to the ends of the earth if I have to.” Jin said bluntly.

“This Sesshomaru agrees completely.” He said leaning back.

“Sesshomaru-sama, I have claimed Mizuki as a daughter and I will not give the dark hanyou a chance to sink his claws into her. She will be a credit to both of our houses. Asuna is still divided in her loyalties and I will remove that division.” Jin said darkly.

“You have this Sesshomaru's loyalty and fang at your disposal.” The Western Lord said raising a brow.

“Hai. Good now what of our problems with the uppyr trash.” Jin said sitting.

“The Uppyr leader has been spotted but has not made any moves. He wants Asuna that is for certain.” Sesshomaru said.

“Have you seen the pup?” Jin asked.

“No.” Sesshomaru said tonelessly.

“She is innocent Sesshomaru-sama.” Jin said.

“She carries his blood.” He said.

“She carries the Western crest.” Jin pointed out.

Sesshomaru looked thoughtfully at Jin and nodded. He stood and motioned for the Panyu Lord to follow him. He went to his heir's room and knocked on the shoji door.

“Come in!” he heard his mate's voice.

Augusta was heavily pregnant and it heated Sesshomaru's blood to see her so. She was radiant and happy. His lips twitched in anger at the idea of Naraku saving his pup. He looked down at Asuna and his heart warmed at the sight of his own daughter holding her own. He knelt down beside the futon and looked at the small female pup. He was immediately assaulted with tremendous yoki. She had the hanyou's eyes but her hair reminded him of Augusta's own. She bore the crescent moon on her tiny forehead and tiny stripes on her arms. He took her gently from Asuna and scented her. Although she did scent of the hanyou, she scented of Asuna too. His own daughter stared at him with silently pleading eyes and he nodded at her. Mizuki had wrapped her tiny clawed hand around silver strands and stared deeply at the Western Lord. He almost immediately became wrapped around her tiny claws. Sesshomaru closed his eyes and knew he was a sucker for the tiny female.

“She is perfect.” Sesshomaru said.

“Thank you Father.” Asuna said inclining her head.

“The bitch that poisoned you has been dealt with?” my father asked me.

“Ask Jin about it; he will not fill me on particulars.” Asuna said morosely.

“I will see you soon Asuna.” Sesshomaru said tenderly.

“Hai my Lord.” She said smiling.

Jin and Sesshomaru left the chambers and walked in silence for a few minutes.

“She is happy again.” He commented.

“I have come to love her fiercely Sesshomaru-sama.” Jin said.

“What happened to the bitch that tried to kill her?” he asked arching a brow.

“Naraku had gotten to her first and I finished her.” Jin said darkly.

“Good.” Sesshomaru said with a cold smile.

Jin and Sesshomaru walked around the Western Palace and plotted against a certain hanyou.

“She is beautiful is she not?” I said staring at Mizuki.

“Very beautiful and powerful. Your mate has discussed binding her powers.” my mother said.

“I will only consent to it if she shows that she cannot handle them.” I said frowning.

“What of Naraku?” my mother asked.

“He is building his power. I did not ask how and I do not want to know. How can I choose?” I asked in confusion.

“I will work on the hanyou. I have ways of making people see reason. You need to be more concerned about Vlad. He will strike at any time.” She said wisely.

“I saw him Mother. We will defeat him.” I said arrogantly.

“You have no idea baby girl.” She said in a frightened voice.

“No one is going to destroy what I have, nobody!” I said in anger.

Mizuki whimpered and her yoki washed over me to calm me. I stared at the tiny girl and wondered if I should bind her powers.

“Let her behavior be your guide my darling. I must rest now. Your sibling is due very soon.” She said standing.

I stared at my daughter and she looked back with innocent mahogany eyes. I hoped we could avoid a war over her. She was going to be greater than I. I held her to me and growled low to soothe her.

“You will know your other chichi, I promise little one.” I whispered into her miniature elfin ear.
