Akemi and the Battle Royal

 

She stood on the outskirts of Edo and her hair blew softly in the wind. She had not been home in months and she was looking forward to facing her family. Akemi wondered if her brothers Haru and Jirou were around; it had been a couple of years since she had seen them last. Things were excessively dicey in her uncle's lands and she had just plain missed her mother. She edged closer to the house and saw the red streak that was her father, Inuyasha.

“Oi wench! It's about damn time you came home!” he greeted her.

“Hello father.” Akemi greeted him.

“Uncle Jackass treatin ya right?” he asked his daughter.

“Hai Uncle Sesshomaru is as gracious as he always is.” She answered smiling.

“I've missed ya.” He muttered.

“Me too Father.” She said gently.

“Come on your mom is cooking.” He said taking her by the arm.

“Have the twins been home?” she asked.

“Naw. I've been meaning to go over there. Why what's up?” he asked looking concerned.

“Asuna had the pup and her name is Mizuki. She ended up mated to a Chinese inu named Lord Jin.” She informed him.

“What the hell is going on over there? Why does Sesshomaru let her run amuck?” Inuyasha snapped.

“Father her mate was killed at Mount Fuji and this Lord Jin's clan is way protective of its pack members. He kind of forced Asuna into the situation.” Akemi said.

“Ok so what does Jin have to do with Sheng?” he asked confused.

“Lord Jin is Sheng's long lost brother. He is almost seven centuries old; he and Uncle Sesshomaru get along very well.” She said shrugging.

“Great another Lord Asshole!” he muttered.

“Father, Lord Jin is more open then my uncle but they do seem to respect each other.” She replied.

“What about Naraku? Did he have enough balls to show up when the pup was born?” he asked in an angry tone.

“Asuna said he was there. Someone poisoned her and she had to have Mizuki cut from her womb.” She said.

“Damn!” he cursed.

They came over a small hill and spied the house.

“What is Mom making?” she asked hungry.

“Ramen, what else?” he said grinning.

Akemi laughed at her father and he grabbed her and threw her on his back and ran to the house. Akemi's laughter rang out as the move reminded her of her childhood. They skidded to a stop at the reed mat door and Inuyasha let his youngest off his back. He pushed aside the mat and went inside followed by Akemi.

“Hey `Gome! Look who decided to grace us!” Inuyasha yelled out to his mate.

“Akemi?” Kagome said as she came from the back of the house.

Kagome came to her daughter and hugged her tightly. Akemi scented her mother's raven locks and sighed in happiness. She was home!

“Father, I am going to take Mom upstairs and chat her ears off for a little while.” She said grinning.

“Oh hell! I am gonna go patrol. Mind yelling when the ramen is done Kagome?” he asked looking hungry.

“Hai Inuyasha.” She said smiling warmly.

“Bout time you fed me wench!” he muttered.

“Inuyasha? I swear to the Kamis if you don't shut up and go…you will regret it.” Kagome threatened.

“Alright!” he said leaving.

“He will never change!” Akemi laughed.

“Hai but Kami knows I love him but there are days I wished he still wore the beads!” she said shaking her head.

“Everything Asuna has been going through has sent me reeling Mom. Mizuki is so beautiful.” She said sighing.

“Naraku is not an ugly hanyou.” Kagome commented.

“Is Father gonna forgive her?” she asked.

“Hai at some point but he may still try and take him out, I don't him blame either.” The miko said darkly.

“Hai.” Akemi sighed.

“Baby what is on your mind?” she asked her daughter.

“Everything and nothing. I have to think and I needed your pampering me. I have missed you.” Akemi said leaning forward and hugging her miko mother.

“Baby, I am always here for you and so is your dad. Kami Akemi, he'd do anything if you said it.” She replied.

“Can he make me full youki?” she lamented.

“No baby girl. Are you still tormented?” Kagome asked concerned.

“I am a quarter youki and I feel so different. I look youki but I am almost as weak as a full ningen. I have holy powers and yoki. This just seems so unfair.” She said looking down.

“Honey it's your DNA. Its genetics baby and I can't change it. I am sorry if you are still searching for your place but you will find it!” Kagome said standing.

“I know Mom. Thanks for the ear. I am going to take a walk ok?” she said heading to the reed mat door.

“Supper will be ready within an hour.” She said smiling at her daughter.

“Alright!” she said leaving the house.

She walked to the God Tree and sat beneath it. She closed her eyes and thought of all the complications going on.

“Akemi!” a voice hissed from the tree.

Akemi looked up and saw the neko prince; Daichi. She smiled gently up at her lover. He climbed to the lower branches of the sacred tree and pulled her up to him.

“Did you follow me?” she accused the neko.

“Hai! You have not answered my letters!” he said in a temper.

“Daichi things are bad right now. There is a maniac running around the island and things in the Western Palace are hairy.” She said.

“I understand Akemi but I miss you terribly.” He said almost pouting.

“Daichi, I miss you too but it was not the wisest course of action coming to Edo my love.” She said.

“You love me but you will not mate me.” He said in his deep voice.

“I am related to a noble house and my father can be a lunatic. Why would you tie yourself to such a female?” she asked irritated.

“I do not care about any of it! Every time I make love to you it is getting harder not to mark you.” He said softly.

“Why can you not accept how things are? We love each other and if and when you want to mate a neko then you are free.” She said lightly.

“Why are you being a baka?” he asked staring at her with his golden eyes.

“Daichi let us leave it as it is for now. We are both still so young.” She implored him.

“My family would accept you and love you as you are. Your family would deny and hate me because I am feline. How fair is that?” he asked hurt.

“Do you think I am ashamed of you?” she asked in surprise.

“I ask you over and over to be with me and you keep putting me off. What am I supposed to think?” he asked in his perpetually soft and deep voice.

“You do not see political ramifications of a union between a full neko youki and a mostly ningen onna. You are being ignorant of what YOUR family needs Daichi.” She said putting up her hands.

“Politics be damned! I am a second son. I am of no consequence as far as ruling goes and I could not give a fig about youki tradition!” he actually snarled.

“Keep your voice down.” She hissed.

“No.” he said angry.

“Daichi, I am seeing a bigger picture. I love you and Kami knows I would love to be with you every day but we are not the only ones involved. Our families are powerful and do have a say. My uncle would prefer if I mated an inu noble and has been trying to arrange it.” She said gently.

He sat back and sat in a crouching position and his face displayed his hurt and disappointment.

“I will not be used anymore to gratify your lust.” He said.

“I am sorry you see it that way but if that is what you need to do.” She said blinking back tears.

“Oi wench! Who are you talking to?” Inuyasha said at the base of the tree.

“Shit!” Akemi cursed.

Daichi stared at his lover then down at her hanyou father.

“It is I Lord Inuyasha, Daichi.” He said.

“That neko brat?” Inuyasha asked surprised.

Daichi grabbed Akemi and jumped down and he bowed before Inuyasha. Akemi stared horrified at Daichi as if he had grown extra body parts.

“What's goin on here?” Inuyasha asked narrowing his eyes.

“I am courting your daughter my Lord.” Daichi answered glaring at Akemi.

“I ain't no lord.” He muttered.

“You baka!!!” Akemi shrieked.

“Akemi what the hell is goin on?” Inuyasha demanded.

“I have asked your daughter to be my mate and I came to Edo to ask your permission.” Daichi said smugly.

“Holy shit, Akemi you and I need to talk. Hey kid you know where we live?” Inuyasha said almost irate.

“Hai sir.” Daichi answered.

“Go there and sit your ass down till I get back.” Inuyasha commanded.

“Hai sir.” Daichi said turning on his heel.

Daichi followed the path that led to the large dwelling outside of the tiny village. He smirked at Akemi's responses. She was thoroughly angry but he tired of the cloak and dagger of their relationship. His father knew of the tryst and approved his choice, now all he had to do was bring her around. He came up to the strange looking dwelling and knocked on the door frame. The mat door was pushed aside and a black haired ningen onna that resembled his lover poked her head out.

“Well you are not my mate and daughter; I told Inuyasha supper was ready! You hungry?” she asked him.

Daichi looked at the strange onna and nodded yes. She motioned for him to come in and she pointed to a long low table and he sat on a cushion.

“I am Kagome and I am pleased to meet you, who are you?” she asked pleasantly.

“I am Daichi; I met Akemi several months ago at the Western Palace.” He explained.

“Oh ok, I see!” she said ladling ramen into a bowl.

She handed him the bowl and some chop sticks and sat down with her own bowl. She looked him over and giggled.

“What amuses you my Lady?” he asked curiously.

“I know you're a taiyouki and all but I just wanna pet you! I had a pet neko when I was young.” She laughed.

“Buyo right?” Daichi said smiling.

“Hai. I see Akemi told you about my fat and lazy neko! Inuyasha used to torment him.” She said laughing.

“Your mate enjoys torturing neko?” he asked a little nervous.

“No not big ones. What brings you here Daichi?” she asked gently.

Daichi stared at the ningen miko and found himself warming up to the strange female. Akemi was a lot like her. He stared down at the noodles and broth and stabbed it with his chop sticks. He rarely ate ningen food but would this day.

“Yeah I know I get sick of it but Inuyasha loves it!” she laughed.

“I have asked Akemi to be my mate.” He said tasting the food. It was not unpleasant and ate more.

“You're the reason she has clammed all up.” Kagome said knowingly.

“I am sorry to have caused her distress. I love her.” He said looking openly at the miko.

“She is wrestling with the fact that she is mostly ningen and has a touch of youki in her. She inherited my holy powers too. She feels out of place and I can't make that go away for her; can you?” Kagome asked seriously.

“The South is a smaller cardinal state but we are strong. I am a second son and my brother is in no danger of dying. I can love her and keep her safe. Her life span is longer than that of a normal ningen anyway and it would be extended to that of a full youki. I want her to be the mother of kits and I want to wake up next to her every morning.” He espoused in an unnaturally long speech for him.

“Well kid you got my permission.” Inuyasha said from the doorway.

Akemi stared at Daichi from the doorway and the neko prince stood. Kagome and Inuyasha scooted to another room.

“You won my father over when you came here to ask his permission.” She said with a small smile.

“I love you and I want you by my side wherever that may be.” He said.

“Oww!! Wench stop hitting me! I'm hungry!!” was heard from the other room.

“Inuyasha!!” Kagome yelled at him.

Akemi stared fondly in the direction of the other room and turned her smile to Daichi. He was patiently standing and waiting for an answer. Akemi got a mischievous look on her face that he knew only too well.

“Meet me in the forest.” She whispered.

“Akemi!” he hissed quietly.

“Do you want an answer?” she asked playfully.

“Hai!” He replied.

“Then meet me in the forest.” She said backing away and running.

She was faster than a normal ningen and she surprised him. She took off into the forest that bore her father's name. Daichi sighed and followed her. His mouth quirked into a smile and decided to track her in his true form; that would teach her a lesson. He stepped outside of the house and transformed into his neko form. He stood taller than a ningen man. His ears were rounded and tufted with fur. His spots were whirling and numerous. His fur was reddish orange and white; thick and full. His tail swished back and forth as he caught the scent of his soon to be mate. Daichi took off stealthily in search of his prey. Kagome and Inuyasha stepped out of the house and watched the neko take off.

“You ok with this?” Kagome asked quietly.

“Yeah I guess. She has to grow up sometime. I love her Gome.” He watched in the distance.

“He's at least a pretty neko.” Kagome suggested.

“Ah hell Kagome; he's a neko! I spose she could do worse. She could have mated an ookami!” he snorted.

“Inuyasha!” she warned.

“Come on. I'm hungry and you need to feed me.” He said playfully.

She had felt the yoki and knew Daichi had changed form. She grew giddy at the idea of seeing him. She moved swiftly and covered her tracks as best as she could. She stepped into a clearing and put a hand to her mouth. There was a creature feeding off a ningen man. He lifted his red eyes and blood smeared his lips. Akemi stared and stepped back.

“Who are you pretty little girl?” it asked.

“Release that man!” she commanded.

The creature threw the man away and moved with inhuman speed till he was behind her. Akemi's hands glowed pink and she whirled on the youki and pressed her hands against the chest of the creature. Burned flesh was scented and the creature staggered back.

“What in hell are you?” he snapped.

“Leave you filthy kiang shi.” She snapped.

“Ah you know what I am. I have no idea what you are.” He said smoothly.

“You do not need to know. I swear I will purify you if you do not leave!” she demanded.

“I want your name before I drain your blood.” He said stepping forward.

She cursed in her mind for not having her bow and arrows or at least her naginata. Her hands glowed again as she focused her spiritual power and watched carefully. Daichi had to be close by if she used enough spiritual energy he should sense it along with her father. The creature started circling her and she used her heightened senses to track him. She was getting nervous and the beast moved more quickly than she expected. He knocked her back and she released a blast of holy energy. It burned the kiang shi's arm but he bit into her neck. She screamed and a powerful yoki presence was felt. Daichi transformed into his humanoid self and drew his katana. Akemi struggled against her attacker but she felt weaker. Her hands flailed and she produced more spiritual energy and burned the creature again. He threw her at Daichi and Akemi landed with a thud. Daichi's eyes narrowed and Akemi grabbed at his arm.

“Give me your blade.” She said weakly.

“Akemi no!” he hissed.

“Trust me.” She said firmly.

The kiang shi was wounded and Daichi helped her up. She grabbed his katana and the blade glowed hot with spiritual power. Akemi moved forward and stabbed the kiang shi in the heart.

“I am Akemi you filthy vermin.” She said as his body slowly became purified.

She stepped back and dropped the blade. She pressed fingers to the wound in her neck and pulled back blood. Daichi moved behind her and caught her as she collapsed. Inuyasha ran into the clearing.

“Akemi!” he yelled.

On the forest floor there was a pile of ashes and Inuyasha looked at his daughter in the neko's arms.

“What the hell happened?” he asked the neko prince.

“She was bitten by a kiang shi.” Daichi said in a livid tone.

“Let me take her. Her mom's a miko and can heal her.” Inuyasha said taking his child into his arms.

“Come on neko!” Inuyasha yelled over his shoulder.

Daichi followed the hanyou back to the house and he prayed to the Kamis that she was not injured severely.

“Inuyasha it's not working!” Kagome said in a worried tone.

“Damnit Gome it has to!” he cried.

“I can't heal her…It's not working.” Kagome cried.

“You Daichi how can we heal her?” Inuyasha demanded.

“Lady Augusta could help. She was able to help my father.” He said as he gold eyes looked worried.

“Damnit!” the hanyou swore.

“I could be in the West in a day and a half Master Inuyasha. Lady Augusta can teleport us here instantly.” Daichi suggested.

“Go!” Inuyasha snapped.

Daichi exited the house and Inuyasha sank down next to his daughter's prone form.

“She channeled her spiritual powers through an ordinary katana Gome” he said brushing her bangs off her forehead.

“I'm afraid Inuyasha. I am really afraid.” Kagome cried as her mate took her into his arms.

“The neko will get there in time, I know it.” He said trying to sound positive.

“I want Haru and Jirou home to patrol the forests around the village. There have been too many attacks.” Kagome said firmly.

“I'll go get them. They will come for their baby sister.” Inuyasha said moving to the door.

“Yasha?” Kagome asked.

“Yeah?” he answered.

“Hurry!” she cried.

“Right!” he said as he took off.

“Baby girl what has happened to you?” Kagome cried softly.

Akemi's prone form laid there unconscious.

Daichi stumbled into the Western Palace's court yard, his chest was heaving. He had been running as swiftly as his youki feet could move to reach the West and its Lady.

“I must see the Lady Augusta!” Daichi cried to Yuudai.

“What is wrong neko?” the inu general asked.

“Lady Akemi was attacked by a kiang shi and will not wake up.” Daichi said.

“This way Lord Daichi.” Yuudai said respectfully of the neko prince.

Augusta sat quietly in her study off of her mate's reading. She heard a knock on the shoji door and she bade her guests enter.

“My Lady!” Daichi bowed.

“Lord Daichi! What is wrong? Why are you in fear for Akemi?” she asked standing.

Daichi's eyes widened at realizing she was a seer and the Western Lady was very heavy with pup.

“She has fallen to a kiang shi. She will not wake up!” he cried.

“Alright. Calm yourself…I can help her. I must tell my mate that I am leaving.” She said rising.

“Many thanks my Lady.” He said bowing.

“She is family young prince.” She said gliding past him and into her mate's study.

“Sesshomaru, I am needed in Edo. Our niece fell prey to an uppyr.” She said lightly.

“I am coming with you; you are due anytime now.” He said quietly.

“Such a proud alpha male. You doubt that your brother and Kagome could care for me?” she said leveling him a stare.

“Augusta!” he growled.

“You are nervous about the birth; I understand but my sister-in-law is a miko.” She said hands on her hips.

“Augusta, I will not argue. You are pregnant with my pup too. Now we shall go.” He said standing.

They turned to the young neko prince and Augusta took both males hands and teleported them to Edo. She put her hand on a tree and one to her belly at the mental exertion. Sesshomaru put a hand on her belly also and felt the pup move underneath his claws.

“I am fine! I tire easily is all.” She said quietly.

“You nearly died having the twins and Youshiro.” He said watching her.

“I can think of no better way to go than bringing forth life. Calm yourself my love; I am well.” She said touching his cheek.

“Bout fucking time you got here!” Inuyasha said coming forward.

“As always half-breed your mouth needs curbing.” Sesshomaru growled.

“Yeah whatever. Hey Augusta, can you help Akemi?” Inuyasha asked earnestly.

“Hai Inuyasha.” Augusta moved forward.

“You got her pregnant again? Damn Sesshomaru you do wanna kill her.” Inuyasha snorted.

Sesshomaru moved fast and pinned Inuyasha to a tree. He squeezed his throat and snarled in rage.

“You direct your comments to this Sesshomaru and not his mate. You will be dead!” the taiyouki raged.

Sesshomaru felt the fingers of his mate on his arm and he looked down. His eyes were blazing and she calmed him.

“Sesshomaru he said it to make you angry. You allow him to goad you for no good reason. We are here for our beloved niece and you two can act like adult males whilst we are here.” Augusta said softly.

Sesshomaru dropped his brother and took his mate's arm and left Inuyasha rubbing his neck. Daichi watched with great interest and kept his mouth shut. The four entered the house and Augusta glided to Akemi's side.

“Hello Kagome.” She said in her melodious voice.

“Thank you for coming Augusta!” Kagome said gratefully.

Augusta's brow furrowed and she looked up.

“You did not tell me she was nearly drained dry!” Augusta said worried.

“Why does it matter?” Inuyasha said worried.

“Inuyasha she is mostly ningen. Uppyr bites do not affect youki like they do mortals.” She said darkly.

“What do you mean my Lady?” Daichi asked his voice quivering a little.

“I am going to have to give her my blood. It will change her some. It cannot be helped.” Augusta said sadly.

“You mean she's gonna change into one of you?” Inuyasha said lividly.

“Hai Inuyasha. I am sorry. She will die otherwise. What happened to the uppyr that did this?” she asked quietly.

“She purified his ass.” Inuyasha said smugly.

“Well he will not control her at least.” She breathed a sigh of relief.

“All of you except for Kagome need to leave. You included Sesshomaru.” She said with authority.

Sesshomaru was angry but followed the irate hanyou out of the door. Daichi followed both inu and kept to himself.

“Hey you Daichi! Thanks.” Inuyasha said pacing.

“Inuyasha can you not stop pacing it is unseemly!” Sesshomaru said annoyed.

“May I speak?” Daichi asked quietly.

“Yes neko prince.” Sesshomaru said.

“May I ask you two to not argue so much please? Akemi is not well and I would like to concentrate on my mate to be.” Daichi said as respectfully as he could.

Sesshomaru's eyes widened at the Daichi's request and looked at Inuyasha in askance.

“He came and asked Kagome and I if they could mate and we said yeah.” Inuyasha told his brother shrugging.

“Half breed, Akemi was living in my house and is a member of my pack. The question should have come before me!” Sesshomaru growled.

“She's my daughter asshole! I like the kid.” Inuyasha growled back.

“Excuse me.” Daichi said softly.

“She is an inu noble hanyou. She should be mated to another inu!” Sesshomaru snapped.

“Pardon me.” Daichi said again.

“She lives with you don't make her one of you.” Inuyasha snarled.

“SHUT UP!” Daichi snarled.

Both inu males stared at the neko prince and he straightened to his full height. He hated inu at times and their arrogance.

“Lord Sesshomaru, I meant no disrespect. My father favors the union and I followed our tradition of asking the father.” The neko said bristling.

“Does she love you?” Sesshomaru asked.

“Hai my Lord.” Daichi answered.

“Hn.” Sesshomaru murmured.

“She will sort of be a youki Kagome. She will be neither ningen nor hanyou.” Augusta said.

“I do not care, save my daughter.” Kagome cried.

“She will thirst for blood.” Augusta warned.

“She will live though?” she asked the Western Lady.

“Hai she will live.” She confirmed.

“Do it.” Kagome begged.

Augusta nodded and lowered her mouth to her niece's already battered neck and sank her fangs in. She had to close her eyes at the bliss. She did not drink mortal or immortal blood often and it was like tasting the rarest meat. Her niece moaned beneath and she drank until her heart slowed a little. She pulled back and bit into her wrist and pressed it to Akemi's mouth.

“Drink my girl. You are thirsty I know.” Augusta muttered.

Akemi's eyes flew open as the crimson liquid exploded on her tongue. The taste was pure heaven and she held onto her aunt's wrist with an iron grip.

“That's it my girl. Drink till you feel me weaken.” Augusta commanded softly.

Akemi drank and could not think beyond the euphoria. Her eyes snapped shut and Augusta had to forcefully remove her from her wrist. Akemi fell back and gasped.

“It twill be alright my darling. Let the sleep overcome you.” Augusta said whispering in her ear.

“This is where the myths of vampires came from!” Kagome exclaimed shocked.

“It is no myth but it is not common. Uppyr can turn ningen into a hybrid if you will. They receive some power from their creator but not nearly what we born uppyr have. She will still be able to bear children I think because of her youki heritage already.” Augusta said in a tired voice.

“Thank you!” Kagome whispered.

“Do not thank me Kagome. I have changed her. She will need to come back to the West and be watched carefully until her bloodlust is settled.” Augusta said.

“She would have died.” Kagome said.

“She will have more power that is for sure. She is more like Asuna now.” Augusta remarked.

“You will be able to control her won't you?” Kagome asked.

“Hai. She has become a child of sorts.” Augusta said brushing bangs off of her forehead.

Akemi had fallen into a coma like sleep. Augusta looked at Kagome and stood and embraced the ningen miko.

“She will still be your daughter. I would never allow her to become a killer and she is more youki now like she has wished.” Augusta said.

“I thank you for saving her.” Kagome cried.

“She is family. I need Asuna to recover from giving birth and have this pup and then we are going after the king of the uppyr.” She said.

“Vlad Dracul right?” Kagome asked.

“Hai, I always forget you hail from a different era.” Augusta said smiling.

“Yeah. I got stuck after the jewel vanished.” Kagome said remembering.

“You will see them again now that you are mated to a hanyou.” Augusta said smiling.

“I know but it's gonna be awhile I promise.” Kagome smiled back.

“I am in need of rest. When we return to the West may I bring some of your medical books back with me?” Augusta asked.

“Hai as long as you keep them from being discovered.” Kagome said.

“I promise.” She answered.

“Go lay down on my futon.” Kagome said.

“Thank you my dear sister.” Augusta replied as she ascended the steps.

Kagome came out of the house and had the males come back in. All three were shocked when Akemi scented more like a youki. Inuyasha was sniffing his daughter's neck in disbelief.

“What the hell did she do to her?” he asked in fear.

“She had to share blood with her Inuyasha.” Kagome answered annoyed.

“She has been turned into a partial uppyr?” Daichi asked in shock.

“I am sorry Daichi but she would have died if we had not.” Kagome murmured.

“So what's gonna happen?” Inuyasha said irate.

“Augusta is going to take her back to the West and guide her. She is gonna wake up and want to devour a ningen or youki.” Kagome said helplessly.

“She will be fine half breed. Augusta lives without taking the lives of mortals or youki.” Sesshomaru commented.

“Damn. My poor girl. Leave us!” Inuyasha snarled.

All assembled and left the room. Kagome looked back at her mate and daughter and tears fell down her cheeks.

“It was no decision miko, you saved your pup.” Sesshomaru commented.

“Inuyasha has always been so protective her.” She cried.

“She resembles his mother.” Sesshomaru offered.

“She looks like Izayoi?” Kagome asked in shock.

“Hai. You favor her in a way but Akemi has the same shaped eyes and mouth. Her face is formed very similarly.” Sesshomaru shrugged.

“I wonder.” Kagome said.

“You wonder if Izayoi's soul is the same as Akemi's.” Sesshomaru said.

“Hai.” She said amazed.

“Your soul is that of Kikoyo.” He said flatly.

Daichi's eyes widened at all the information and wondered if his lover would still love him.

They had been at the Western Palace for three days and Akemi still slept. I stood in the doorway and watched my cousin sleep like she was dead. My mother stood next to me and sighed.

“She is going to be thirsting badly.” She said.

“I did not know you could turn a ningen into an uppyr.” I said.

“It is not something I go around advertising my dear. I have never done it for the simple fact that I would not condemn a mortal to this thirst.” She replied.

“The neko prince has not left her side.” I observed.

“He will have to when she wakes up because she will attack him.” She said thoughtfully.

“Let me know when she awakens and I will offer her my own blood.” I said.

“Thank you Asuna!” she replied gratefully.

“I need to feed Mizuki.” I said leaving.

Augusta watched he daughter go and went and sat by the neko prince.

“You can feed her after her blood lust settles.” She replied.

“Will she still want me?” he asked distressed.

“Intensely.” She replied.

“What is she going to be like?” he asked.

“We are intensely sexual creatures Daichi. Blood letting is for survival as well as love making. She will still be her but hyper sexual.” Augusta explained.

“I see.” He answered.

Akemi's eyes opened slowly and thirst assaulted her forcefully. She rolled to her side and saw Daichi and her aunt.

“Daichi my sweet darling. Come tome please.” Akemi purred.

Augusta grabbed Daichi and forced him to stay put and she moved closer to her niece.

“You will feed from me, Asuna, or Fillip and no other. Do you understand?” Augusta said firmly.

“Why not my sweet love? He wants me, I can feel it.” She purred.

“He wants for your well being. Now drink from me for now.” She commanded and cut her wrist with a small blade.

Akemi almost attacked it and growled unnaturally. Daichi was fascinated at the change in the formerly docile Akemi. She drank and pulled away and eyed the neko was undisguised lust.

“Shall I spread my thighs for you my love? You want to mark me do you not? Please I burn for your touch.” She said pulling down her sleeping gown.

She exposed her chest and moaned. Augusta grabbed her and laid her back down.

“Daichi go and get my cousin Fillip. He is in the library.” Augusta said quickly.

Daichi fled the room and Akemi hissed.

“You deny me my mate? Why?” she said angrily.

“Listen to me well. If you were to join with him you would drain him of his blood and he would perish. You will feed from only uppyr until you return to your senses.” He aunt said firmly.

Fillip came in and sat by Augusta and watched as Akemi squirmed around touching and growling.

“She needs to feed a lot. You need to shield yourself heavily from her because she will try and force you to take her.” Augusta commanded.

“Da.” He said bearing a wrist to her.

“Daichi go and sit in the garden.” The Western Lady said.

“Hai my lady.” Daichi bowed.

Akemi grabbed Fillip's wrist and bit into it. He gasped as the sudden rush of pleasure and slammed his shields up.

“She is a wanton creature.” he gasped to his cousin.

“Runs in the inu side too.” Augusta replied.

She dropped his wrist and looked around. Her lips were stained crimson and she stood looking around the room.

“I need more Aunt Augusta! Kami I am so hungry, make it stop!” She cried.

“Asuna will feed you darling. You must try and focus through the hunger and haze.” Her aunt replied.

-Asuna please come! Akemi has awakened. - Augusta pathed to her daughter.

Akemi was prowling her room like a caged animal. I could feel yoki from her now in large amounts. I moved forward and grabbed her forcefully and put my wrist to her lips. She bit in viciously and drank in large gulps of my life force. She fed like she was starving and I knew she was. She was hanging on and draining quite a bit and I had to force her off.

“Please make the hunger stop!” she pleaded.

I looked at my mother and she shook her head. I pulled my cousin to me and hugged her.

“Can you think somewhat rationally?” I asked her.

“Hai.” She breathed heavily.

“I will take you hunting game.” I said.

“Hai. Anything to make it stop!” she cried.

I looked at my mother and she nodded. I took her with me and I led her out of the palace and into the forest. She looked around and shook.

“Shhhh it will get better. You have to focus and concentrate on your prey. Hear their blood flow thru their veins and move on them swiftly. I only speak of wild game Akemi.” I commanded softly.

She nodded and stared at me.

“There is a gazelle nearby.” She said her breath shaking.

“Move swiftly and with purpose cousin.” I told her.

I watched her as she had gained enormous speed through her transformation. I saw the gazelle and she took it quickly. I could feel her shame as she fed from it. I realized she had inherited at least some pathing abilities as well. She drained the creature till death and pulled away from it and wiped her mouth.

“Oh Kamis what have I become?” she asked in horror.

“You have become more like me cousin.” I said softly.

“You drink blood?” she said.

“I can but I hunt for the raw meat. It is instinct and it is natural. Bless the beast of the forest for sustaining you and honor it. You are no monster anymore than I.” I espoused.

“I feel better. Thank you but I have an intense urge to rut.” She admitted sheepishly.

“From what my mother says after another day or two you can hunt and feed for yourself.” I said reassuring.

“You feel this burning need for raw meat and copulation?” she asked.

“Hai a lot.” I said shrugging.

“No wonder you give in to your desires.” She murmured.

“It can be difficult. I have obviously not learned to control it yet.” I said looking up at the sky.

“Have you seen him?” she asked.

“Hai. They would all kill me if they knew but hai. He loves Mizuki so much. He is so tender with her.” I said.

“What do I do now?” she asked perplexed.

“Your hunger has abated for now?” I asked.

“Hai.” She answered.

“Then go and learn about your yoki from my mother.” I said softly.

“Hai.” She said coming into step next to me.

We reentered the palace and she went back to her chambers and I went to mine.

“You are a quick study Akemi.” Augusta said approvingly.

“I thank you Aunt. When can I see Daichi?” she asked eagerly.

“When I am sure you will not make him a meal.” She laughed.

“I want to see him badly!” she cried.

“You know when to back off?” she asked.

“Hai. I swear! Asuna has taught me well. I am not hungry right now.” Akemi said very eagerly.

“See the neko prince.” Augusta laughed lightly.

Akemi moved around her aunt and went in search of her beloved. She knew he would find a tree and seclude himself. He was not fond of a lot of inu in one place. She went to the gardens and found him in his favorite oak tree.

“Hello!” she called up to him.

“Hello. You can see me now without eating me?” he asked cautiously.

“Hai.” She purred to him.

“You wish to attack me do you not?” he asked.

“I need to feel your skin slide against mine.” She whispered.

Daichi jumped downed gracefully and stood next to her.

“I never got to tell you that your true form is stunning.” She whispered in his ear.

“Kami Akemi maybe we should wait.” He said in his low tone.

“No. You wanted to mate me so I am saying yes. I want you to take me.” She said pressing her body against his.

“Not here.” He said as she started kissing his neck.

“I have fangs now. I can taste your skin and your desire for me.” She whispered hoarsely

She licked his pulse point and growled low in her throat. He was having a hard time thinking as she moved against him wantonly and suggestively. She undid his haori and slid her hands over his chest. His breathing increased and had a bad feeling she was going to coerce him into rutting right there. Her hands slid to his hakamas and he put his hands on hers. He picked her up and went to the back of the gardens and laid her on a chaise and ravished her lips. She hungrily accepted his advances and seemed to elicit more. He disrobed her and she undid the ties to his bottoms. They were divested of clothing quickly and he pressed his body against hers. She gasped and kissed his neck and moved her lips down his collar bone. She reached up and grasped his ear point and he strumming could be heard from his chest.

“You are purring for me?” she asked in a sultry tone.

“If you want to call it that.” He murmured as her other hand wandered down his backside and ran claws along his spine.

“You are killing me Koi. I need to be with you.” He said harshly.

“Take me then. We can slow down and worship each other's bodies later.” She said.

He entered her and she threw her head back. Every time she made love to him it was unreal and he could bring her to completion in the act alone. He moved within her and his purring became louder.

“Take me hard and fast right now. I have needed you too.” She cried.

He moved within her urgently and his eyes bled red and he looked down and so was hers. He was shocked and excited at the same time and could feel her tightening around him already. The urge to mark her hit him swiftly and he growled fiercely.

“Do it.” She rasped.

“Are you sure?” he cried softly.

“Hai! Damnit Daichi do it!” she cried out in orgasm.

Her bit her neck fiercely and a calm washed over him. He finally had marked his intended and his beast was satisfied. She pulled him down to her and she bit into his neck also. Euphoria hit him and he could not stop his own completion as he actually roared out. He seed split into her and he collapsed. She drank from him and tore herself away from his neck.

“Oh I am going to love this!” she cried happily.

“What exactly?” he asked lifting himself a little.

“Giving you intense pleasure that you always give me.” She said licking her lips.

“You have become insatiable.” He said smirking.

“You are complaining for what reason?” she said smiling.

“I was terrified you were going to die.” he whispered.

“I have just begun to live my love.” She said lustfully.

“Again?” he laughed.

“He begged me to let him sleep. I want him constantly. I feel like I am useful now.” She cried sitting down.

“I will make sure to scent you in a couple of days to see if you are pupped.” I said smirking.

“Hai you do that. When is Lord Jin coming back?” she asked.

“In a few days. There was some fall out from Teegan's death that he has to deal with. He thinks I do not know the he and Father plan on moving on Naraku but I do. I am torn dreadfully but I will not allow them to destroy him.” I said darkly.

“So you work covertly to help. Well you have my support.” She said happily.

“Thank you. That means a lot that you do not hate me for my choices. The uppyr ruler will be making moves. The fact that you stumbled upon a lone uppyr means that he has many here.” I commented.

“I can be of more use to you now. I have retained some holy powers but I do not know if that will last.” She replied.

“You never know.” I retorted.

“On never knows anything truly.” Akemi stated.

“Except maybe my mother.” I said shuddering.

“What?” she asked me.

“She has seen dark days ahead and we will be in the midst of the storm.” I replied.

“I say bring it on.” She said.

“Hai bring it on.” I agreed.

I was battered and bloodied. There were uppyr and koumori everywhere. This time I was amongst the battle and I was taking on as many uppyr as I could. My father was about two hundred feet away and had his fang drawn and ready. Jin was in front of me and clashing blades with a fair haired uppyr. I spotted red armor several hundred feet away and started making my way to the individual. I lifted my fang and threw it like a spear and stabbed an uppyr through the chest. My brother Youshiro looked grateful and I willed my blade back into my hand. I jumped up and over several battling warriors and landed with ease. I lifted my fang over my head and stabbed an enemy in the back and pulled my weapon from the corpse and shoved him away with a booted foot.

“Asuna duck.” Fillip called to me.

I ducked as a koumori swooped over me and its wings generated a wind. I shredded the creature's wing with a claw and grabbed its arm and pulled it to me and broke its neck. I turned and watched in horror as an uppyr with a weapon I recognized as a broadsword ran Fillip through.

“No!” I screamed.

I used brute strength and shoved the enemy out of my way. I flew to Fillip's side and he smiled up at me.

“I shall see Karina again.” He said choking on blood.

“Fillip no! Please fight.” I cried trying to staunch the wounds.

“It is a mortal wound my sweet cousin. Thank you for healing me.” He said as the life slowly left his eyes.

I screamed in a rage and stood up and located the fiend responsible and located him. I again jumped over heads and I landed in front of the red haired uppyr. I had my fang drawn and my eyes were blazing red.

“Take me on you filth.” I spit in rage.

“Oh you are the one he wants.” The fiend said.

He raised his heavy weapon and I produced my whip. I flicked it and it wrapped around his throat. I yanked bank with all my strength and I took his head off. Blood splattered everywhere and I knew I was soaked with it. I ran and jumped and landed next to Jin and I produced a dirk and threw it in the throat of a koumori.

“Thanks!” Jin said as he looked at me.

His eyes were blazing red too and I moved with inhuman speed and pulled my dirk from the dead bat youki and kept moving. I landed next to my father and we ended up back to back.

“Are we clear of our family on either side?” he asked.

“Hai.” I responded.

“Release your fang!” he commanded.

I drew my blade as he drew his. He had Tokijin and released the Dragon Strike and I channeled my yoki in a move that resembled the Back Lash Wave. The destruction went in opposite directions and members of our house moved out of the way. Many koumori and a handful of uppyr were obliterated in the onslaught. I moved away from my father and went to the red amour. My father had Bakusaiga drawn and I smirked cruelly for his victims. I landed next to the red and he grabbed me quickly.

“You are a troublesome wench.” He said with a cruel grin.

“Hai and you're a dead man.” I said as I plunged a dirk into joint of the armor.

He grunted in pain but went to bite my throat and I grabbed his arm and threw him over my shoulder. I went to attack and he grabbed my foot. I snarled and let my poison seep to my claw tips and went for his unshielded face. I scented burned flesh and he roared. He let me go and I crawled a little ways and jumped to my feet. I sensed the attack but was not quick enough as a broad sword was shoved through my shoulder. My arm hung limply by my side and blood soaked the silk of my haori. I grunted as the pain assaulted me by I turned and drew my fang with my good arm and it glowed a little and I sliced smoothly through a hand. I had recognized the red armor as Vlad and I had inflicted bad damage. He roared and went to raise his sword when a miasma infused barrier went up around me. Naraku appeared behind me and he wore armor himself.

“What are you doing here?” I hissed.

“Protecting the onna I love.” He hissed back.

“Jin and my father are both here or have you not noticed?” I yelled.

“That creature almost had you dead.” Naraku snarled.

Vlad roared in anger when he could not penetrate the barrier and narrowed his eyes at Naraku.

“You will not keep me from destroying her!” he screamed.

“I just did.” Naraku replied coolly.

“Go!” Naraku hissed to me.

I sheathed my fang and went through his barrier. I caught my father, Inuyasha, and Jin converging on the area and Tetsaiga glowed red. My mind panicked and I turned and saw Naraku not paying them an ounce of attention and Jin was moving quickly. Vlad was being overwhelmed by Naraku and his miasma and tentacles. I reversed my path and yelled as Jin came up and thrust his fang through the red armor and Vlad had to retreat. Naraku was caught off guard and Jin managed to thrust his sword through the hanyou's side. I screamed and ran closer and made the decision to jump in front of my uncle's Adamant Barrage. Pain overwhelmed me and I landed heavily over Naraku's body.

“Asuna!” Jin yelled.

I looked down at Naraku who looked horrified. He had been injured badly and I was bad off as well.

“Mizuki is in Mount Hakurei-zan with Mayu.” I whispered in agony.

“Asuna.” He whispered in terror.

Jin tried to reach me but I threw up a barrier. My father and uncle made it to me and my hanyou. I was bloodied and broken but I crawled forward and managed to reach through my own barrier and unsheathed Tensaiga from my father's hip quickly. My breathing was labored and my father watched me horrified.

“Asuna! No daughter do not.” He cried.

I leaned over Naraku's body and tried to change form and could not.

“Try and get us out of here.” I said to Naraku.

His eyes were clouded in pain and I looked up at Jin.

“I am sorry.” I whispered.

“Asuna lower the barrier! Lower it now.” Jin screamed.

Naraku managed to pull me into his miasma and I held onto Tensaiga. We disappeared and I fought to hold on in case I needed the Sword of Heaven.

We appeared at his castle near Edo and his breathing was labored.

“Why did you do that?” he nearly shrieked at me.

“Because Tensaiga bends to my will.” I said in a raspy tone.

“I cannot regenerate quickly enough, I am done for.” He said.

“I will hold on long enough.” I said weakly.

“What are you telling me Asuna?” he asked trying to hold my chin.

“Go ahead and die. Tensaiga is already pulsing.” I said shaking.

“What about you?” he cried.

“Only my father and I can wield the Fang of Heaven.” I said growing weaker.

“Asuna, you and Mizuki are the only things I have done worthwhile.” He said his breathing shallower.

“Jin used his fang's yoki inside of you.” I said bitterly.

“I suppose. I love you my little inu.” He said as his eyes grew dim.

“Tensaiga due my will this once.” I murmured to the fang.

It pulsed in my hand and I saw the pallbearers and I swiped through them. My vision grew dim and I dropped the fang. I noticed that life was slowly returning to him and I laid my head in his lap.

“It is done. Take our daughter and live well my love.” I said as my breathing slowed to almost nothing.

Naraku had a sudden intake of breath and heard the words that his beloved spoke.
