In Another Time

“I want the bitch dead; I want her lifeless body at my feet and drained of her blood!” Vlad raged.
“We took heavy losses your Majesty.” The soldier said.
“I want to be ready to move against the whore dog and her family in less than a month.” He said in a fearsome voice.
“Yes your majesty!” the soldier said scurrying out.
Vlad looked at the human woman in the corner and his mouth watered for his dinner; he could taste the fear in the air and chuckled.
“Oh God!” the woman screamed as he neared.
“I am God wench!” he laughed.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Jin paced in front of the Western Lord and was angry yet again. Anger seemed to consume him the last several weeks of his long life.
“Lord Jin, please sit and partake of sake and this Sesshomaru will explain again.” Sesshomaru said with more calm than he felt.
“Hai. Sake would be good. Your mate and mine left and they only said they were taking a spiritual journey? How insane is that?” Jin said taking a proffered cup of the fiery liquid.
“Augusta is from Russia as you know. The uppyr live amongst the ningen there and she grew up worshiping the God of the Greeks.” Sesshomaru explained.
“Your mate believes in the God of the Europeans?” Jin asked in disbelief.
“Have more sake. Hai she does. Her beliefs meld with those of the Buddha and Taoism as well.” Sesshomaru shrugged.
“I am a taiyouki and I find it irksome that we have to deal with the Kamis and your mate is insane.” Jin said downing more sake.
Jin as a rule did not partake of intoxicating beverages but Asuna was driving him to near madness.
“She is unusual. This Sesshomaru had learned to trust and listen to her wisdom at times.” The Western Lord said.
“I will keep my counsel. Would you send me word when my errant mate returns?” Jin said downing a third cup.
Sesshomaru nodded and watched Jin stand and leave his study. Sesshomaru rubbed the bridge of his perfect Patrician nose and warded off a headache. Augusta had barely given birth and was off with Asuna for reasons truly unknown. She had told him she was heading north and make sure Yoshiko was cared for. He knew his mate would not tarry longer than necessary because she despised others feeding her pups. She was up to something and Asuna was a cohort. His heir had a knack for getting herself into difficult situations and sometimes wished she was still a pup so that he could wring her neck.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
The air was cooler in the north and I enjoyed it. My mother and I were truly enjoying our time and she further trained me in the control of my many psi abilities. I regretted not having been trained when I was younger and chalked it up to my trying to suppress my uppyr side.
“That is good Asuna. You must focus your mind when you will an object. It is the same when you wish to bring an enemy to his knees. If you have their blood it is easier of course but if your will is strong than you can bring the enemy to his knees. You can even stop their heart, make their blood boil, or cause them a stroke.” My mother instructed.
“How long did it take you to master your yoki?” I asked intrigued.
“I was alive for about two and half centuries when I mastered it. Teleportation is the most difficult to achieve. It is like your sphere of light form but much more focus of yoki. That is why it is instantaneous.” She explained.
“So I have awhile till I master my own yoki.” I said sighing.
“Hai but the fact that you can divide yourself from your physical body is amazing. Someday you will appear in solid form and not just spirit.” She said.
“That would be handy.” I said smiling.
“Hai it would. I have never achieved it and I have tried. Supposedly I have the potential but I doubt I will achieve it.” She said with a shrug.
I lifted a fairly large rock with a thought and waved my arm and flung it against a cliff face to where it shattered. I smiled at the new focus I was finding. I was finding it easier to channel my own yoki in other things besides my fang. I sat upon a flat rock and looked out over the precipice.
“You will see Naraku this night?” She asked softly.
“No. I spoke with him last night. I have said nothing of our thoughts. I think he would think we had lost our minds. He already says you speak too much.” I said smirking.
“Typical male.” She muttered.
“Is this witch a hag or does she resemble a normal individual.” I asked.
“She is a ningen that somehow attained immortality. I have sought answers from her before but she moves around. I have never known her to use her magics for evil.” She replied.
“How soon till we reach her?” I asked.
“Tomorrow. I wish to give Jin time to stew. I am also masking our scents and he will never track us. He has many abilities of the uppyr but I am a pure uppyr.” She said smugly.
“Hai.” I responded.
We found the shelter of some trees and we settled after we both had hunted. I fell into a light sleep and managed to stay within myself. My mother snored lightly and we got much needed rest.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
We reached the witch's home in due course and I was surprised at how humble the hut was. It was well hidden and the illusions could only be cast by a master practioner. Mortals thought that youki possessed magical powers but it was more of controlling of environments and our own bodies. The witch looked young and I would not have spared her a second glance. She was a raven haired and brown eyed onna. She had an air of wisdom and great power around her and I was suitably impressed.
“Lady Augusta it has been almost half a century.” The witch said smiling.
“Hai it has been Tamiko. This is my eldest child.” Augusta said.
“Lady Asuna! I have seen much of you in my visions!” Tamiko said.
“Really?” I asked raising a brow.
“Hai you are destined for greatness as your sire and his sire.” She replied.
“I am more concerned with the past Madam Tamiko.” I said bowing.
“Hai I know.” She said smiling.
“You are a seer.” I replied.
“As are you. You have not nurtured your power as you should but there is time yet.” She said sweetly.
My mother sat and I followed suit. The witch produced tea and I accepted as did my mother.
“How is the young Youshiro that you came to see me about?” she asked
“Strong willed.” Augusta said smiling.
“You came to see her to see if you would have more pups?” I asked my mother.
“Hai. I wanted a large family.” Augusta shrugged.
Tamiko smiled and I looked at her and she was wearing a light cotton yukata that had larks all over it.
“Ask what you want to know my Lady.” Tamiko said straight forward.
“Have I reincarnated?” I asked.
“Hai you have.” She said.
I sat back and was afraid all of a sudden. She smiled warmly and spread her hands open.
“Youki do not reincarnate often because of the obvious reason for normally long life. It does happen though because youki have souls the same as ningen. Youki souls are different in that once a youki always a youki. The energy is different. One reason youki will reincarnate is because of soul bonds formed. You have been tied to the House of the Moon a long time my Lady. Souls have a tendency to travel together and around one another. A brother in this lifetime a mate in another. Your mate Sheng will be tied to you from now till the end as the same with Jin. Naraku has traveled with from your previous life.” She explained.
My mind had a hard time grasping the spiritual and I listened carefully. I looked at the ningen and I was truly afraid of knowing.
“You want to know what happened and why. Naraku was not Naraku until he became the hanyou that he is.” The witch said.
“I wish to know.” I said carefully.
“I can cast a spell and you will live what you lived. It may be painful emotionally and physically but you will know.” She said.
I looked at my mother and she nodded.
“I am afraid.” I said all of a sudden.
“This is not to be taken lightly my Lady but it is up to you. Your mother and I will be here to guard you.” She assured me.
“Cast your spell please.” I asked.
“I can tell you that Naraku has been your lover before that I have seen.” She said.
I nodded and my mother wrapped her arms around my shoulders. I watched the witch mix a brew and I shuddered. I had never before depended on magic and it was to be feared; black and white magic alike.
“Get comfortable my Lady. You will see your life and you will live it. It will seem a long time to you but only hours for us. Drink this and let it carry you to another time and place.” She instructed.
I took the chalice from her and drank the contents. It was faintly sweet and made me dizzy. My mother lowered me onto the floor and I felt a roll placed under my head. I closed my eyes and fell into oblivion.
“Do you know to whence she goes?” Augusta asked.
“The time before your mate and the early reign of the Inu no Taisho.” Tamiko said.
“That was almost a thousand years ago!” Augusta said in shock.
“Hai my Lady. Her soul will forever be tied to the Western House.” The witch said.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
“Sorami! Sorami wake up!” My mother said shaking me.
I sat up and realized I did not recognize my surroundings for a moment but it came flooding back to me.
“Your father has fallen. There is no sign of Touga and I am afraid the castle will be over run with the dragon clan. Your father was killed by Mizuchi himself.” She cried.
I stood up in a panic and wondered of my brother's whereabouts. I could not believe that the great Akinori fell. Tears stung my eyes and I wiped them away. I knew my twin Touga still lived; I would have felt if he had passed on into the Netherworld.
“Hai.” I said as I ran with her.
We followed a secret passage out of the castle that led to a nearby river. My mother was holding in her grief at losing her mate and I know she feared for us all. The dragons had been encroaching into the Western Lands since before I was born. My father had managed to keep them back but Mizuchi was profoundly powerful. He was a water dragon and hailed from another one of the islands. I had to stop and I put a hand over my mouth and cried. Our world was falling apart and Touga was nowhere to be found. My silver hair hung around me like a curtain and I cried my heart out. My mother held me to her and calmed me.
“Come Sorami we must make distance. I will not be disgraced by dragon filth.” She hissed.
“Hai.” I said as we went further into the forest.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Touga was in his castle but his mother and sister were gone. His father's body had been desecrated. Anger tore into his gut as he surveyed the damage done by the reptile trash. He fingered his katana and cracked his knuckles and wanted to dig his claws into more dragon guts. His mother was a comely bitch but Sorami was innocent in the ways of the world. His father had protected his females zealously and that trait had been passed onto Touga. He had to find them because they could be used against him and he had no wish for harm to come them. His thoughts drifted to his twin and panic ceased him. She was uncommonly beautiful. She had shimmering silver hair and bright saffron colored eyes. She bore only the pale magenta stripes on her cheeks and wrists. She was a slight waif like creature and his father had refused to mate her. Touga always thought that his own father harbored jealousy toward any male that dared look at his precious daughter. Her delicate features harbored the soul of a strong onna. He never let his sister's appearance fool him. Her will was iron and her intelligence great. He would often talk of the court and get her opinion. When the time came he would give Sorami only to someone worthy of her mind. He would settle for nothing less for her.
“I want you to spread out and search the surrounding land around the castle.” He ordered his soldiers.
“Hai my Lord!” they said bowing.
He shook his head and realized that he was going to have to get used to being the Lord of the West. He stepped down from the steps of the dais and covered his father's body. He said a quick prayer and ordered for the old Lord to be laid out in state and prepared for his travels to the underworld. He had to find his mother and sister before the dragons did.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
We sat under an out crop of rocks and heard the ocean in the distance. I was terrified; I heard the roars of the reptile and knew they drew closer. I stood and pulled my mother along. The borders were close and we were entering the Kingdom of the Tsuchigumo. I did not know who I was more afraid of the Tsuchigumo or the dragons. My mother and I heard a terrible roar and knew it was too late. We turned and there was Mizuchi himself. His hair was white and flowing and he had light blue and white scales on the side of his face and his arms. His eyes were almost white in appearance and I knew dread. He moved with incredible speed and sliced my mother's throat. My eyes widened in terror and horror as my mother fell to her knees and she let go of my hand.
“Stupid bitch talked too much.” The dragon said smoothly.
He circled me and I watched him. I was not trained as a warrior but I had my inu instincts.
“Your father hid you away little one. Been too long since I buried my cock into virgin flesh.” The beast said.
“You are not worthy of me, you are beneath me.” I said hoping to stall.
“Well you are a spitfire. I shall enjoy breaking you and making you moan like a whore.” He said chuckling.
“Is that why you came after me and my mother? You wished to dishonor me?” I said with a shaking voice.
“Your beauty is legendary and what better way to piss off your arrogant self involved brother. Your father should have paid me allegiance; I might have let him live. Enough talk!” he said coming at me.
I slashed my claws across his face and brought my knee up against he groin. He roared in pain and hit me so hard that I hit the ground hard. I landed next to my mother's body and I screamed. He pinned me and put a hand to my throat and squeezed my throat until I weakened under him. He hit my face as hard as he could; Mizuchi tore open my kimono and I fought against him and I tried to scream. I watched in horror as he released himself. I tried with all my might to fight and keep my legs closed. He pried them open and tore the flesh of my thighs. He moved quickly and slammed into me hard. I screamed in pain and hatred as the reptile tore me asunder. He plundered me and tore at my flesh with his claws. I managed to turn my head and spit in his face. He tore into my belly with those same claws and I screamed louder. I stopped fighting and retreated into my own mind. Touga where are you I thought. My mind screamed over and over. I heard him grunt and spill himself. My face grimaced in hatred and fury. He pulled himself from me and stood. He proceeded to kick me in my stomach and I blanched. He chuckled and straightened his clothes.
“Thanks for the thrill inu whore.” He said walking away from me.
I waited until he left and let the sobbing overcome me. I crawled to the body of my mother and held onto her expired form. I felt blood and semen dripping from my abused center and hatred welled up in me. I sobbed until I lay there motionless. I did not know how long I was there when I felt another aura approach. It was not Touga and I curled up into a ball. I did not move and I scented a Tsuchigumo and I could not hold back my terror. Tsuchigumo were arachnid youki who were powerful and legendary. They were secretive and could be very aggressive. I felt a hand on my shoulder and I shrieked in terror.
“I will not harm you.” It said.
I turned my saffron eyes and met black ones. It was a male and he had raven hair and the blackest eyes I had ever seen. It seemed almost unholy. His skin was pale but not sickly looking. I shied away from his touch and sobbed anew.
“You are in my lands inu. Who did this to you?” he said.
“Mizuchi.” I muttered numbly.
“Inu listen to me well. I will not harm you. I heard your mental screams and came to see what was happening. I will not be the only one coming. You must come with me; you are too vulnerable here.” He implored.
I allowed him to help me stand and I shook. I knew I must be bloodied and bruised. I looked around like a frightened animal and looked down at my mother's body.
“Come. There is no helping her now.” He said.
“I would know your name.” I said as calmly as I could.
“I am Hisashi and I rule these lands. You are inu; what is your name?” he asked softly.
“I am Sorami. My father was the Western Lord.” I said hollowly.
“Lady Sorami, I will not harm you. I will keep you safe until your family can find you.” He said gently.
I stared at him and almost laughed. He was taller than me. I barely came to his shoulder and I had to look up at him.
“I want to clean this filth off of me. Get it off of me.” I cried hysterically.
“Come. My palace is near. You will be treated as the royalty you are.” He said urging me away from my mother.
“Her body it must be cremated. She cannot be left to the ookami.” I said shaking.
“I can preserve her body if you wish.” He said.
“Hai. Touga must cremate her.” I said shaking my head.
I watched as he kneeled next to her body and produced a web from his hands. He wrapped my mother's body in his silken web.
“I will have her sent for.” He said.
“Hai.” I said as I allowed myself to be led away. I looked over my shoulder and cried.
“Tsuchigumo do not help anyone but themselves!” I cried in terror.
“I am not my father my Lady.” he said softly.
“I know not your lineage. I want my brother, I want Touga.” I said with wide eyes.
“I can send notice to Lord Touga. You need to be cleaned and healed. You do not need to stay out there in your condition. If I heard your mental call then others of my kind would have too.” He said.
“You have not consolidated your power.” I said in realization.
“No I have not. That is why it is safer in my palace.” He said.
He moved me quickly and I saw a lavish palace in the distance. I felt disgust and hatred well up in me. I hated the dragons with all my might. Tears stained my face and the Tsuchigumo ruler led me to a hot spring. He left me with female servants and left instructions for my care. The females I noticed had different colored hair and spots along their faces and arms. They tended me carefully and cleaned my wounds. They washed my long silver hair and cleaned my face. The females looked at one another and they did not speak but I could swear I heard whispers.
“I hear you! What are you saying!” I said in anger.
“Nothing my Lady. We have not spoken.” One said in surprise.
“You lie!” I screamed.
One of the females scrambled and ran out of the hot spring.
“My Lady your heard our thoughts. We were only speaking of how we were going to care for you.” A young female said.
“What is your name?” I asked
“Airi.” She answered as she ran a comb through my hair.
“Can you cut it?” I whispered.
“My Lady it is lovely.” She said.
“Please cut it. I have no wish to be lovely.” I cried.
“If you change yourself my Lady then he has broken you! Do not allow a male to control you through the mere act of rutting. You are a Lady and above such pettiness. He hurt you but he has not beaten you.” She said gently holding my shoulders.
“You have been violated yourself.” I whispered.
“Hai and I will never be broken by a male and neither shall you.” She said taking my hands.
“I have pain. What if he got me with pup?” I asked in disgust.
“You do not worry on that right now. These are terrible times my Lady and you must learn to make yourself strong.” She said standing and handing me a yukata.
“How did I hear your thoughts?” I asked.
“You must be a telepath.” She said dryly.
“That is not a gift amongst inu.” I said.
“Well it is apparently a gift you have.” She said smiling gently.
“How do I not let the dragon best me?” I asked.
“Learn the ways of the blade. You are inu, surely you have some yoki.” She said.
“Hai but females are not warriors.” I said shaking my head.
“This female shall be a survivor.” She said gently.
I stared at her and smiled a little.
“Hisashi? Who is he to you?” I asked.
“He is a cousin. He is quiet and highly reserved but would never violate an onna in such a manner. He has honor and tries to live with ethics. He is not the friendliest around but he means well. Our rulers can be female or male.” She said.
“Can I borrow supplies to write my brother a letter?” I asked.
“Hai.” She said warmly.
“I thought Tsuchigumo were crude and unrefined creatures.” I said surprised.
“Well it is thought that inu are arrogant and brutish.” She said.
“I am glad I was wrong.” I said distantly.
“Me too.” She replied.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Touga had to be on the offensive. It was the only explanation for no correspondence. I sent my mother to the Netherworld with honors myself. I stood and watched as her body burned and was sick with grief. I was angry and Airi had become my friend and mentor. The Tsuchigumo ruler was fairly young himself and was highly aloof. I was not even a century old. My brother was powerful and a taiyouki. He was a force to be reckoned with and that gave me hope. Airi had taken up to plaiting my hair and pinning it to my head and we would practice with wooden katanas in the palace dojo. I would never be vulnerable again. She also had taken to training me to listen in another's mind. I had been with Tsuchigumo for over a month and I had healed physically and mentally I had become hard. I was no longer just a palace bitch. Touga would not be pleased but I did not care. He had always thought me a precious treasure to guard and pet. He and I were close and he did ask my opinion but at the end of the day I was still female. Airi was excellent with a blade and I was sparring with her aggressively now.
“Your yoki, can you channel your yoki?” she asked one day into the second month of my stay.
“Not really. Females are for breeding and enjoyment. We are taught palace intrigue.” I said.
“You are no simpleton. Why would you family treat you as such?” she asked.
“Because I am an onna?” I said laughing.
“My cousin can channel his yoki. I will see if he will show you.” She said.
“I have only spoken to him that once and I occasionally see him around the palace.” I said.
“He is not an extrovert. He has an excellent mind and prowess in battle. He is fighting insurgents on the outskirts of the lands.” She said.
“Should we bother him then?” I asked timidly.
“Hai!! You are no without power. Seize your strengths and one day if you see the dragon trash you will be prepared!” she said strongly.
She left the dojo and I followed. We went to a side of the palace that I had not been to before and I felt nervous on encroaching on Hisashi's privacy.
“Fear not little inu, he needs to socialize now and then!” she said listening to my thoughts.
“That is not fair! I have not learned to shield properly.” I cried.
“You will.” She smiled.
We stopped in front of a large shoji door and she pulled it open. It was a library and there were scrolls everywhere. In the midst of all there was Hisashi at desk writing. He looked up and I was struck by his beauty. He looked at me thoughtfully and lifted a hand and I knew he was speaking to Airi in thoughts. I heard a few words and I knew he felt disturbed.
“It is rude to speak without words when there are those that are still learning.” She admonished him.
“Airi, what do you wish from me?” he asked annoyed.
“She needs to learn to channel her yoki. She has an abundance of it but I cannot do it. You on the other hand are a taiyouki and can. Indulge me my cousin; your battles will still be there in an hour.” She said smoothly.
He again regarded me thoughtfully and stood slowly. He had treated me with such gentleness yet he had stayed away. He led the way to the dojo and Airi and I followed. She leaned over and smiled at me.
“He has not wanted to frighten you. He can be ill tempered but he knew you were frightened of him at first.” She whispered.
“I understand. He is beautiful.” I said as if staring at a work of art.
“He could care less of his appearance. I know he thinks you are pretty; I gleaned that from his mind.” She whispered with mirth.
“Have you heard of anything about my brother?” I asked.
He turned and he face was impassive.
“The Western Castle fell Lady Sorami. I have heard rumors that your brother has been moving aggressively against the Dragon Clan.” He said softly.
I nodded and I kept my counsel.
“Have you healed?” he asked my gently.
“Hai.” I said bowing.
“Do not bow to me. You are a princess and I just a Lord.” He said uncomfortably.
“Lord Hisashi you saved me.” I said confused.
“I would do so again. Come let me show you how to channel your yoki.” He said changing the subject.
I looked at Airi and she shrugged. I looked at Airi and noticed what a true beauty she was. Her hair was brown and streaked with black and her eyes were grey. She seemed to have a fine down of light brown hair that covered her body. She looked at me and smiled.
“I am an ookami tsuchigumo. I am frightening in my true form so I do not use it often.” She explained.
“I see. What is your cousin?” I asked a little frightened.
“He is known as a funnel web. He is truly powerful.” She whispered.
“I am a silver inu. I do not think I am all that frightening.” I said with a wan smile.
We entered the dojo and she handed me a blade. She stood back and watched.
“May I stand behind you and show you?” he asked.
“Hai.” I said.
He stood behind me and brought his arms around my waist and I held the blade and his hands rested below mine.
“At first close your eyes and feel your yoki below the surface. Bring it forward as you would as if in danger.” He instructed.
“Hai.” I breathed.
“Close your eyes.” He said into my ear.
I did as he bade and closed my eyes. I felt my yoki simmering as did he.
“Focus and release it.” He whispered into my ear.
I focused my yoki and felt it come down my arms and into the blade. I stared at the blade and it was illuminated.
“Let it go.” He commanded.
The yoki flared and left the blade and crashed forcefully against a wall smashing the screen outward. I dropped the blade in shock and Airi looked pleased. Hisashi looked pleased and bowed.
“I leave you now to continue my correspondence.” He said.
“Lord Hisashi, I thank you.” I called out.
“Never thank me princess.” He said at the door.
He left and I stared. Airi came next to me and I looked at her. She took me by the arm.
“You are one step closer to decimating the dragon and I shall eat him for dinner.” She said smiling wickedly.
“We shall divide him. I will eat half and you can have the other.” I said.
“Continue practicing your channeling and I am going to have a weapon commissioned. We will leave and hunt this scum down. I suggest you remove his organ that defiled you.” She laughed.
“What happened to the one that raped you?” I asked.
“I liquefied his insides.” She said nonchalantly.
“Good solution.” I said.
“Hai revenge did taste sweet.” She replied.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
I was in the woods very close to the palace and I had been practicing with a thin and elegant blade that Airi had made. I had been amongst the Tsuchigumo for months but I had heard from Touga. He extended his thanks to his Southern neighbors for sheltering the inu Princess. I was glad of my brother's victories but Mizuchi was mine. I wore a shorter kimono that would scandalize my twin. I felt eyes on me and turned and saw Hisashi watched with hooded eyes.
“Do I displease you sir?” I said bowing.
“I have said do not bow to me. I am beneath you in you rank my Lady.” He bowed to me.
I laughed merrily and stared at the Tsuchigumo lord; I smiled at him and he looked at me with a quizzical look on his face. I came closer and looked into his black eyes.
“You will never be below me Lord Hisashi. Your house has sheltered and protected me against this blasted war.” I said.
“I only did what was right.” He answered.
“You have had your own problems without an inu bitch to look after. I will be leaving you soon.” I replied.
“Why? My Lady you are safest here.” He declared.
“I have no wish to be safe any longer. The Dragon Clan has a need to be leaderless at my hand. Airi has informed me that females are warriors in this State and she has no need to ask for permission to leave.” I said searching his face.
“That is true and I will not stop you.” He said stiffly.
I took his hand and kissed the top of it. I bowed low before him and he looked away embarrassed. I stood and smiled at him.
“I thank you for restoring my faith. I will see you again my friend.” I said backing away.
I left and went in search of Airi. I felt his eyes on me but continued on. He was a mystery and I could ill afford the time it would take to unravel him. I prayed to the Kamis that they would keep him well.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
“You were right! Your true form is terribly frightening.” I told Airi as she had changed back.
“That is why we are despised. Ningen and youki alike do not like our appearance in our true forms. They do not like what they do not understand.” She said shrugging.
“You are powerful and dangerous. You can protect yourself.” I said jealously.
“You are not without power Sorami. You have to know your own strengths.” She said.
“Well thanks to you Mizuchi will be dead and very soon.” I said wickedly.
“Careful that you do not like killing.” Airi laughed.
“I never knew the thrill of the hunt before.” I said with a feral gleam to my eyes.
“I feel a youki aura coming this way.” She said quickly.
“I know the aura, it is Touga.” I said torn.
“He may not like that you are more prepared for war but to hell with him.” She snorted.
I said nothing and I knew my twin recognized my aura as well. He was in true form and blood stained his muzzle, he changed quickly and stood before me. He was tall and every inch a work of art. He was chiseled and heavily muscled. He had navy stripes that adorned his cheeks and he wore his long silver hair in a high pony tail. He had spiked armor on and his mokomoko was split into what appeared to be two tails. He wore a white haori and hakamas underneath his armor.
“What in the Kamis name are you wearing?” he asked severely angry.
“It matters not Touga.” I said flatly.
“As a female of my house and your alpha you will answer me!” he snarled.
“Where have you been Touga? Mizuchi raped and left me for dead. He murdered our mother; slit her throat to be exact. I had to give her honors. Where have you been?” I said coldly.
“I had found out where you were the same day mother was murdered. I did not want to draw attention to you so I did not write back.” He explained in irritation.
“I see.” I said frigidly.
“Sorami, I had no intentions to leave you for so long but there is death and destruction everywhere. The Dragons have garnered help from the continent and why am I explaining all this to you?” he said angry.
“You owe me nothing, so I take what I will!” I snarled.
He did not seem to recognize me and I might as well have been rabid. Airi leaned against a tree looking quite smug.
“Did you do this to her Tsuchigumo bitch?” he snarled at her.
She lifted her brows and narrowed her eyes.
“What did this to her was a dragon's cock that tried to destroy her. It did not help that you abandoned her.” Airi said in a low tone.
Touga looked furious and stared at his sister and realized she had changed. He tried to grab her and she produced an energy whip of pure yoki.
“I am no longer the palace bitch to be used on a whim. Mizuchi is mine to kill.” She said furiously.
“I have no time to argue with an insane bitch. I am sorry he used you ill but you survived and that is what matters.” He said trying to be calm.
“Touga go be the warrior and tell yourself you have honor. Leave me be and I will find my own.” I said disdainfully.
“I have a battle to prepare for. You must return to the South and when it is safe I will retrieve you.” He commanded.
Airi grabbed me and silk webbing appeared from her hands. She pulled us up into a tree. Touga looked up and growled.
“Mizuchi is on the continent with his son, RyÅ«kotsusei. Go back to the south for now.” He pleaded.
Airi looked down at him and smirked.
“My lover and I shall do just that inu.” She said.
Touga's face blanched at Airi's deception and I laughed. Served him right to think it. Airi released a huge amount of her venom in the form of a miasma and we snuck away.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Airi and I laughed the whole way back to the palace of the south. The Tsuchigumo shared the southern region with a reclusive group of neko. I liked the idea of hers in pretending that she was my lover. It would turn away the attention of unwanted males.
“I want to know your cousin better.” I said suddenly.
“Good luck. I am blood and he is still a mystery.” She said.
“Shall I share your rooms with you?” I said laughing.
“Sure.” She said smirking.
“I am going to find Hisashi.” I said.
“He may speak or he may not. He normally buries himself in the library when he is not battling.” She said with a shrug.
“Good bye for now lover!” I said laughing as I walked away.
I walked down the long, dark halls and found the library. I knocked on the screen and no one answered. I slid open the door and sure enough it was empty. I went inside and started perusing the titles and looked down at the desk. It was sprawled with different maps and letters. He wrote in an elegant hand and I discerned that he wanted a new home for the dwindling numbers of his species. I felt for the Tsuchigumo; they were decent under his leadership and I would hate to see them gone. I was totally engrossed in reading his business that I did not notice him come in. I scented him and he smelled of juniper. I looked up and his raven hair was pulled back and it looked wet. His pale face held a look of intense irritation and he wore a short black yukata and hakamas. He had not bothered with an obi and I stared at his pale flesh of his chest.
“I am sorry to rifle through your private things. I admit to being curious.” I said quietly.
“It is of no consequence.” He said shortly.
“I have a wish to know you better.” I said shyly.
“Why?” he asked quietly.
“Because you want nothing from me. My father wanted me to be what I do no know; my brother wants to dictate to me. Mizuchi wanted to use me to hurt my house, and you want nothing.” I said searching his face.
“I am not a noble individual. I have been a fierce killer and I would do it again. Now what happened to you my Lady was disgusting.” He said with a shrug.
“Why do you hide yourself in here?” I asked.
“My species is typically lone hunters. We are carnivores but we are secretive. I am just doing what is in my nature.” He replied.
“You are a Tsuchigumo youki; you are not strictly a Tsuchigumo.” I said softly.
“My beast is a terrible and frightening thing. I prefer this form as I cannot control myself well in my natural state.” He said looking away.
“How old are you?” I asked very softly.
“I am one hundred thirty one summers.” He replied.
“Why do you not look at me directly?” I asked him trying to stare at his eyes.
“No particular reason.” He stated.
“Am I hideous to you? I have seen your females here and they are winsome and lovely in their humanoid forms.” I said drawing closer.
“You are not hideous to look at. You are not mine to ogle.” He said looking over my shoulder.
“I feel hideous to you.” I said in a sudden sadness.
“Please I have no wish to speak on this.” He said softly.
“What do you speak of then Hisashi? You bury yourself in here or on a battlefield.” I commented.
“My Lady. You read what I am doing. My species is on the verge of extinction and I am trying to prevent that. I need all the support of my own that I can get so I bury myself in here trying to find a home.” He replied in a cool voice.
“How did you hear me when I was being violated? The spot is quite far from here.” I asked.
“I do not know. I heard you.” He said agitated.
“You have evaded my presence yet you came to my rescue. Am I disgusting to you?” I asked.
“My Lady I shall like to work now if you do not mind. Good evening to you.” He said dismissing me.
I was angry and hurt and I had no idea why. Airi had said he was reclusive, I just could not believe it was his nature.
“Why do you house me? Why keep a creature that has been time from time an enemy?” I asked.
He closed his eyes and murmured something that I did not hear and I could feel his ire rise.
“I want something more than war in my life. I have a wish for some peace and I cannot find that so I extend it to you.” He said looking past me.
“You have been so gentle and kind with me, Airi says you do not want me afraid of you. You hardly speak to me. I have been left alone and I would know the person and the Lord who saved me. This palace and its occupants are all I have.” I said impassioned.
“It is beyond disgusting what the dragon did to you. I do not look at you because it pains me to think that because I am male that you should fear me. If I look at you then you will know I lust after you. Does that satisfy your curiosity? I hardly ever speak this much so if you do not mind I have letters that need to be written.” He again said dismissing me.
“Why should I care if you lusted after me?” I asked in a soft voice.
“What you suffered no onna should have to. It occurs too often and I have killed for less.” He said looking away.
“Look at me!” I said glaring at him.
He turned his obsidian eyes to my saffron ones and I did see his hunger. I wanted his touch because it was a soft one. He showed me respect when I had none. I leaned forward and kissed his lips. He did not stop me but did not spur me on.
“I want to help you with your work if I can.” I said against his lips.
“No. You will leave and seek your revenge and I will find a haven for my people.” He said pulling away.
“Why?” I asked.
“We are two different species. You should if it is your desire find an honorable inu and be happy. Only pain and misery can follow anything else. It is forbidden and I have no time to start a war with a strong inu.” He said.
I stormed out and followed the path back to Airi's room. I slammed the shoji behind me.
“It did not go well?” she asked.
“No. He dismissed me and I am not used to that.” I said shaking my head.
“How badly do you want him?” she asked.
“I did not think that is why I went to see him.” I said confused.
“You do not understand your own responses. You want him and I can sense the same from Hisashi. Come my friend, I will show you where he sleeps.” She said.
She stood up and I followed her through more hallways and twists and turns.
“Is this palace laid out as in the shape of a giant web?” I asked.
“Hai. Intelligent of you to notice.” She smirked.
She stopped in front of a large shoji screen door and slid it open.
“Should we be here?” I asked.
“Hai. You want him and you will hunt him as the predator you are.” She said slyly.
All around the room there hung beautiful silks from floor to ceiling. There was a futon by a balcony window and it was surrounded in see through silk panels.
“This silk is tsuchigumo silk.” I said fingering the soft material.
“Hai it is. I think he may never have lain with an onna before. Hisashi is obsessed. His father was a terrible and cruel leader. He is part of the reason we are so hated. The son killed the father and that is why the clan is torn. Those if us who can reason beyond our beasts are here and the rest, well you know the stories.” She said.
I understood the young lord better and my admiration of him grew. He was the opposite of the Dragon Clan.
“What do I do?” I asked.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
It was the dead of night; I moved through the hallways and moved to Hisashi's room. I was masking my aura and my scent just in case. I wore a gown of almost see though silk. I wore a light yukata over it. I reached his door and very quietly I slipped in. I moved with no sound and saw him sleeping. He wore only sleeping hakamas and his raven hair spilled across the futon. The shutters were open and moonlight spilled in. I moved aside the silk panels that surrounded the futon and the yukata fell to floor. I lay down next to him without touching him. His breathing was even and the moonlight made his skin seem to glow. I lowered my lips to his neck and licked along his jugular and gently kissed his jaw and nipped at the sensitive flesh underneath his ear. His eyes flew open and his breath seemed to stop.
“What are you doing here?” he asked hoarsely.
“Tasting your skin.” I said running my tongue along his ear.
“Lady Sorami please.” He started to say.
“Hai?” I asked as I ran my claws gently up his legs.
“This is not right.” He said looking at my face.
“Touch me and make me forget the physical pain and show me the pleasure behind an act which should be beautiful.” I softly said.
I took his hand and pressed it to my silk clad breast. I lowered my lips to his and teased them with mine. My hair fell around us like a silver curtain and he reached up and tangled his claws into my hair and held me gently and kissed me back fervently. My lips parted and his tongue swept into my mouth and I moaned softly. My senses were heightened and I mated my tongue to his. A dull ache began in my belly and I moaned louder. I shifted against him and he withdrew from the kiss and nibbled my lips. He kissed my forehead then my eyelids.
“Lady Sorami, please I beg you please leave.” He said in a strained voice.
“Do not fight me and please do not make me beg.” I asked him.
He reached down at the hem of the gown and pulled it up and over my head. He pressed his lips to my throat and brushed them lightly against my quickly heating flesh. He tasted the skin along my collar bone. I shut my eyes as the ache intensified and I shifted and squirmed with my unknown need. He continued to brush his lips across my skin and my head feel back. He pulled my closer with his hands on my back. He lowered his mouth and latched onto a nipple and I gasped in pleasure. His mouth was warm and wet as he suckled then flicked his tongue against the nipple. He repeated his actions to the other and I actually growled.
“So beautiful, you are so beautiful.” He said placing fevered kisses along my throat and breasts.
I moaned and pressed closer against him and he was slowly making love to my body. My hands trembled as they untied the knot of his sleep hakamas. I pushed them down as my hands ran lightly over his backside. I felt his need pressed against my front and I brought a hand around his hip and touched his length. He groaned against my skin and skimmed along the soft but hard flesh. I marveled at the silk like texture and kept touching him and his breathing became ragged.
“I ache.” I whispered.
“Hai.” He grunted.
I laid back and shyly opened my thighs and he seemed in a trance and slowly pressed his hard body against mine. I put a hand between us and felt my center and I was wet and burning. I touched his length again and he almost whimpered. I could tell he was holding back and I rubbed the head of his staff against my wetness and Hisashi cried out.
“Enter me please.” I murmured against his shoulder.
He slowly pushed into me and I cried out as he stretched and filled me. His arms shook as he tried to hold back. I reached up and pulled his head down to mine and I nipped at his lips and he pushed in until he was fully seated.
“You are so tight and wet.” He groaned out.
A throbbing in my core started again and I squirmed beneath him.
“Sorami! I have no wish to hurt you.” He growled in my ear.
“Move within me. I cannot take this ache any longer.” I whispered fiercely.
He lifted my thigh and withdrew and slowly plunged into me. I cried out as he withdrew and plunged back inside. My hips arched against his moves and with both made incomprehensible noises. The ache had turned into throbbing and tightening sensation.
“Tell me what you are experiencing.” I demanded softly.
“Overwhelming need.” He cried.
I moaned as his movements became a little faster and he brought a hand between our joined bodies and pressed his thumb lightly against my swollen nub. I threw my head back and nearly screamed my pleasure. He massaged the nub and I pressed my lower half against his. The pressure was reaching a fever pitch and he kept his rhythm constant and quick but not hard. I thrust my hips hard and Hisashi suppressed his loud growl.
“Please.” I begged not knowing what I begged for.
I brought my hands to his flexing backside and I held on. He rocked his hips against mine and I felt myself fall into a dozen different pieces. My walls clenched and spasmed around his staff as I released and fell off a precipice and into an abyss. He joined me and shouted as he pulled out of me and spilled his seed. I shook under him from the bliss that our joining had caused. His lips captured mine and branded my soul. My eyes opened and I saw his eyes were red. I stared in fascination as his beast had been stirred and knew mine had been as well. He stared at me and began kissing me anew. My own body was stirring again and I felt an overwhelming need to be joined with Hisashi.
“Lady Sorami.” He groaned as I touched him anew.
“I am just Sorami.” I said holding the sides of his face.
“Sorami, I need you again.” He cried as buried his face into my neck.
“Do your will.” I breathed.
He intertwined his fingers in mine and entered me again. Memories of the Dragon Clan Ruler were erased and new ones formed. I cried out and moaned Hisashi's name.
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
I stayed with him that night and I did not sleep much. The Tsuchigumo lord was not reserved in his own private world and in fact seemed to come alive. He did not speak much because he had no need to. We made love that night and I saw images and felt feelings so I knew I did not need words spoken. He had been planning to pay Mizuchi a visit but not to interfere with my own need for revenge. I knew he watched me when I had not noticed and I felt vindicated in my ardor for him. Touga would not allow me to be tied to him but I had grown beyond being an inu princess and had become my own self. I slipped from his chambers as he finally slept and came back to the rooms that Airi and I shared. Her head popped up from her futon and I saw her sly smile.
“Careful you do not fall in love. Enjoy him and delight in him but never fall in love.” She warned.
“Why?” I asked in surprise.
“Because he will become unable to let you go when he will need to.” She said.
“Our species are telepathic amongst other things and intense bonds can be formed. You cannot be tied to him as your wickedly yummy brother would never allow it. Besides clandestine sex is so much more thrilling.” She continued laughing.
“You think Touga handsome?” I asked smirking.
“Hai. I would have to be blind and deaf not to. His arrogance would make him a most excellent lover.” She said.
“Touga is sought after. His yoki came early in life and he has become quite a warrior. He has dreams of uniting all the inu.” I said lying down next to her.
“Admirable dreams but even though inu are pack animals; they have all those pesky alpha male traits going on. Lord Tekeshi is a major power too. Of course I see all the inu uniting against the dragons.” She commented.
“How come your cousin lets you come and go?” I asked all of a sudden.
“Because I guard his back and he has my katana. I have been taking care of your needs shall we say but I am normally on a field of battle for him and with him. I have rather enjoyed knowing you. I feel more like an onna and less like an androgynous louse.” She said laughing.
“Your cousin wants Mizuchi dead.” I said staring at the ceiling.
“Hai. I do too. We have come to adore you here. If all inu were like you we would throw open the palace doors and say; move in.”
I laughed heartily and laid my head on her shoulder. She sighed and lifted my hair and inspected it.
“You have become like a sister and I will be most put out if you leave us anytime soon.” She said seriously.
“As long as this war continues and there is no castle in the West, I have to stay somewhere.” I said.
“Good because I can tear down a castle in my true form!” she said wickedly.
“I am going to sleep. My body and mind are tired.” I said.
“Hai rest now inu princess.” She said.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
My eyes snapped open and I gasped loudly. I sat up and saw Tamiko and my mother. My eyes were wet and tears were on my face. My hands shook as I realized that I had been there and I was not crazy.
“Asuna are you ok?” my mother asked.
“Hai.” I said staring off.
“It can be disconcerting. Even though that was you, it was a different lifetime ago.” She said.
“I have to check on some things in the Western Palace but can I come back and finish this?” I asked the wish.
“Anytime Lady Asuna.” Tamiko said.
I stood up and I was shaking. My mother held my arm and I looked at her.
“Can you teleport us back?” I asked with urgency.
“Hai my darling. Are you ok?” she asked.
“I have to find that leather volume from my grandsire's time.” I said.
“We go then.” She said.
We disappeared then reappeared near the study and I went in and threw open the door. Luckily my father was not in there and I started hunting the volume. My mother came in and watched unsure of what I wanted.
“Jaken!” I yelled.
I went into the hall and started yelling for the kappa. My hands still shook and I could feel Hisashi in me. I shuddered as I knew that he was Naraku; they were the same. I wanted to know why we had been torn apart. That volume had answers. The little kappa came running in and hell prostrate.
“You served the Inu no Taisho not too long before he fell correct?” I asked.
“Hai milady.” He said in confusion.
“Where is the leather book? Tell me what you know of Sorami.” I said urgently.
My father had heard the ruckus and had come to the study.
“Milady I know not that name!” he said confused.
I scented no lie and looked at my father.
“Lady Sorami, tell me of her!” I demanded.
My father too looked confused and I knew that Touga had wiped out his sister from our history.
“Your sire had a twin sister. Your sire let her be destroyed and I want that fucking book!” I nearly shrieked.
“Daughter, I know not of what you speak. The Inu no Taisho was an only pup.” He said thoroughly confused.
“When was the palace built?” I asked.
“Right around the time of my birth.” He said.
I did the math and my father was nearly eight centuries old. I looked at him and he saw pain and anger on face.
“Where is the leather bound volume?” I asked calmer.
“I last saw it in the very back of the study. Why is it important? Can you and your mother explain why you come here and start acting out of your mind?” he asked in total confusion.
My father had many ill feelings toward his sire and I was beginning to understand why. I went to the back of the study and actually climbed up the nearly ancient shelves. My brother Osamu had come also and my hand was feeling on the very top shelf and toward the back. I felt what I had been searching for and pulled it out. I jumped easily down and blew a mountain of dust off the volume.
“You were wronged Father. You are nothing like the Taisho and an honorable father.” I said as I passed him.
My poor sire had no idea what was going on and he growled at his mate.
“Sesshomaru, I too have no idea.” She said shrugging.
I took the volume and went to the gardens. Osamu was hot on my heels. He could feel my overwhelming emotions. I sat down and opened the book. It was a record of his campaigns and a short family tree. I looked for Sorami and found no name. I looked for anything that indicated she had lived. Osamu sat next to me and I laid my head on his shoulder.
“Show me what bothers you.” He whispered.
“It is much and it is an onslaught.” I warned him.
“I understand.” He said.
I opened my mind to him and he was flooded with my adventures in the past. He face grimaced at some memories and I could tell he was as agitated as I was.
“You have to finish this. I will look for clues at the old castle sight. I would contact Katashi and see if there is anything in Tekeshi's old records.” He commented.
“Why would he wipe his own twin from history?” I asked in despair.
“You have to finish this.” He said.
“I know.” I whispered.
I saw my father had the entrance to the palace and saw his expression. He was concerned and floored at my accusations. I left Osamu and went and stood by him.
“I have heard that name spoken once. I was a small pup and my father was in the midst of a nightmare.” He said stiffly.
“Hai.” I answered.
“Who was she exactly?” he asked.
“She was your aunt and his twin. All the twins in this family and it makes sense. Your father was a twin so you and Uncle Yasha both produced them.” I said shaking my head.
“How do you know any of this?” he asked arching a silver brow.
“I am not done with the journey but I will inform you when I know.” I said.
“When did she live?” he asked.
“Around a millennium ago.” I answered.
“The time of the Dragon Clan.” He said as his eyes darkened.
“Hai.” I answered.
I moved away and he looked at me and I saw pain from my father's own past.
“What did he do to you?” I asked.
“He was a good father at times.” Was all he said.
He walked away and I felt pain for my sire. I had to go back to the witch. I had to know what happened to me in the past. I moved with purpose with the leather volume in hand. I went to my chambers and went and saw my sons. They were sleeping next to each other and I lightly kissed each soft brunette head. They stirred but did not waken. I went to my futon and looked at the volume. It went back no farther than eight centuries. He started keeping the journal right before my father had been born. I lied down and fell asleep. I willed myself to Naraku and I appeared as my phantom self. He was sleeping and Mizuki was sleeping on her stomach next to him. I looked at his face and saw a strong resembalance to the Tsuchigumo Lord Hisashi. My heart clenched as I watched him and he stirred and his mahogany eyes opened. His features softened as he saw me. He carefully stood and moved away from our sleeping daughter.
“You are sad, why?” he asked.
-Because I need to be here with you. I am sick of being torn.- I said.
“You are not good at lying to me.” He said softly.
-Hisashi do you know the name? - I pathed.
“Vaguely. He was Tsuchigumo I think. Why?” he asked.
-Trust me. I will tell you soon. - I thought.
“What is going on?” he asked.
-I love you. - I thought to him.
“You are leaving?” he asked annoyed.
I wanted to touch him and the need was so strong. I reached out my hand and ran it along his cheek. His eyes opened in total surprise and I surprised myself. I was solid! I knew I had not rejoined my body but I had coporealize.
“How?” he asked.
“I wanted to touch your skin. I am not truly here; my body is at the Western Palace.” I replied in amazement.
“Tell me before you disappear what is going on!” he demanded.
I moved forward and pressed my lips against his. I invaded his mouth and elicited a growl of pleasure. My hands went into his long ebony hair and I devoured his lips. I finally stopped to let him breath and his eyes were wide.
“I can touch you. I can feel you.” I murmured.
“You are overwhelmed right now. This is not the only reason. Why ask about a long dead Tsuchigumo Lord?” he asked.
“There is so much going on and so much I do not know yet but it is becoming clearer. I promise you I will explain to you and very soon.” I said as I moved to lightly touch Mizuki's head.
“You have cared for her well. She has fattened up.” I said regretfully.
“Of course. I am confused and you know I hate being confused.” He said softly.
I moved away from the pup's sleeping form and sat down.
“When did you become aware as Naraku?” I asked.
“I do not know as soon as I opened my eyes I suppose. I had all the memories of the ningen and confusion for a little while. I remember his obsession with the miko.” He confessed.
I knew he told me these things because there was total trust between us. We had tried to die for each other and I had given him a pup.
“Do you remember anything else?” I asked.
“Pain. I felt horrid pain.” He said shaking his head.
“Pain at the joining or what?” I said confused.
“I had been ripped away from something. I was devoid and empty.” He said shrugging.
“I have to go.” I said as I felt the pull.
He leaned forward and kissed me again and I faded.
I sat up and felt utter happiness. I jumped up and went in search of my mother. I wanted to go back to Tamiko. I went to her chambers and knocked on the door. My mother was still dressed and I was beaming as she opened the door. I opened my mind to her and showed her what had happened and she pulled me to her and hugged me.
-You wish to go back now? - She asked.
-Hai. Please just take me and come back. - I thought.
She held onto me and we teleported back to the witch. I entered her hut and knew she was expecting me. My mother went back to the West and Yoshiko. I looked at Tamiko and she smiled.
“Are you ready?” she asked softly.
“More than ready!” I said as I sat down.
