Ookami and the Northern Lands

 

We settled halfway up the coast and made camp by the sea. I watched the waves crash and peace settled over me. There was a ningen village further up the beach but they would have been stupid to bother two inu youki. I saw koumori in the distance and I flared my yoki to keep them away. Tekeshi watched me with his emerald eyes and I would actually blush. I looked at him and grinned as a thought came over me.

“You are a black inu; you like to swim do you not?” I asked mischievously.

“Hai I enjoy the water immensely.” He replied.

I stood up and stripped out of my clothes and ran into the water. He watched me dumbfounded and stripped down to his hakamas to join me.

“Are you insane?” He asked coming up behind me in the water.

“You like the water so why not?” I smirked up at him.

“I tend to like a hot spring or a marble tub.” He replied.

I stuck my tongue out at him and jumped into a wave. I had not just played in forever. He laughed at my antics. I dove into the water and grabbed a foot and pulled him down.

“Asuna!” he yelled as he went under.

He stood up and he was drenched. I smirked and eyed him with a predatory gleam in my eyes.

“Come on Tekeshi. Take me down.” I dared him.

“Alright.” He waded through the water and pulled me down with him.

The air between us changed from playful to passionate. I watched his lips as they claimed mine. He was still pretty young in this era; he was barely over two centuries and I was one hundred and seven summers. He held me to him and he laid me on the beach.

“Are you sure?” he asked softly.

“One thing you need to learn about me is I never joke about rutting.” I whispered then licked his lips.

We proceeded to join again and we slept tangled in each other's limbs.

I was up in the middle of the night because of a slight noise and stretched to try and hear what it was. I felt a faint aura and had to disentangle myself from Tekeshi. He stirred and looked at me bleary eyed. We had coupled several times and I knew I was digging myself deeper. I hurriedly dressed and so did he.

“You sense it too.” I whispered.

“Hai. It is still a ways off but it seems familiar.” He commented.

“Come on.” I said jumping up and slipping my fang into my obi.

“Do not be rash.” He said taking my arm.

“Come on Tekeshi. I could use a good fight.” I commented.

I moved forward and he followed me. I masked myself and Tekeshi; we paralleled the aura and I knew who it was, it was Ryukotsusei.

“Son of a whore!” I snarled softly.

“Asuna be careful, he is massively powerful.” He warned.

I hated the dragon almost as much as Vlad and I wanted to see the fearsome dragon in the flesh. I moved ahead of Tekeshi and he tried to hold me back.

“I will not battle him. He does not know me.” I said quietly.

“He hates inu stubborn onna!” he snapped.

I moved forward and jumped up into a tree. Tekeshi was furious but stayed hidden. The dragon it seemed was only hunting. I watched him and I knew he could feel eyes on him.

“Show yourself youki!” he snapped.

I jumped down and kept a very easy stance not meant to anger him. He perused my form and I openly perused his. He was a water dragon that was white and blue scaled. His hair was long and white and his eyes were reptile eyes; they were slitted and it was eerie. He wore a flowing white haori and hakamas more in the Shinto style. They were edged in yellow and blue. He was a fearsome and handsome creature to be sure. I knew of his true form and I knew that one by heart.

“I felt your aura and came to investigate.” I said bowing.

“You are insane onna. I have a strong dislike for inu.” He voice seemed to echo.

“I am sorry but I am not from this land. Have I offended you my Lord?” I asked in a very lady like fashion.

I mentally heard Tekeshi's snort and kept my features straight. The dragon cocked his head to the side and looked at me thoughtfully.

“You seem familiar.” He commented.

“How so sir?” I asked innocently.

Tekeshi's laughter rang in my head and I still stayed as sweet as I could be. I tried to be as nonthreatening as I knew how to be.

“You remind me of an enemy.” He said bluntly.

“Truly my Lord I mean no offense. I will remove myself from your sight if it offends you.” I said bowing low.

“I care not. You are not full inu; where are you from?” he demanded.

“My Lord I come from a land called Russia. Have you heard of it?” I asked sweetly.

“Hai.” He said gruffly.

“It is a very cold place. I was told that my bastard father was a silver dog daemon from the Japanese Isles.” I said softly.

“Very well. You are not as offensive as the native inu. Go on about your business.” He commanded.

“As you command my Lord.” I said bowing.

He passed me by and I walked into the tree line. He left the area and Tekeshi burst out laughing. I smirked and sat down.

“What possessed you?” he asked.

“Know thy enemy.” I stated flatly.

“Are you planning to battle him?” he asked.

“The thought crossed my mind.” I muttered.

“You are insane.” He said pulling me up.

“He will fall by my uncle's hand.” I said absently.

“Uncle?” he asked surprised.

“Touga will have two sons.” I said.

“I cannot imagine him rutting with Natsumi again.” He replied.

I leveled him a look and he was surprised.

“He takes another mate?” he asked in shock.

“No he takes a lover. He loved her passionately and he dies saving her and my uncle.” I said.

I knew I was sharing too much information but I intended for Touga and Tekeshi to forget my time here. I knew that Tamiko had to be alive and I was going to search her out.

“Why would he die saving them?” he asked intrigued.

“She will be a ningen hime.” I answered.

“He sires a hanyou?” he asked in utter shock.

“Hai. Uncle Yasha is a very powerful hanyou mind you.” I said.

“You are not prejudiced against a hanyou?” he asked.

“Why should I be? I adore my female cousin and she is like a sister. My twin male cousins are taijiyas.” I answered.

“This is utterly fascinating. Touga is not really interested in ningen females now.” He remarked.

“Izayoi is said to be uncommonly beautiful. Uncle Yasha favors Touga heavily. Inuyasha mates a ningen miko and produces the twins; Haru and Jirou. Akemi is the youngest.” I explained.

“You have siblings?” he asked.

“Hai. I too have a twin named Osamu. I have a younger brother named Youshiro and a newborn sister named Yoshiko. I also have an adopted ningen sister named Rin.” I answered.

“Your family sounds wonderful! Do you have pups?” he asked interested.

“Hai. I have identical twin sons named Hiroto and Kazuo. My daughter's name is Mizuki.” I said fondly.

“Beautiful Moon.” He remarked.

“Hai. She is very beautiful. Her yoki was present from the womb. Her father is a hanyou.” I said looking at the trees.

“You continue to surprise me.” He said.

“Why?” I asked.

“You are a powerful taiyouki but you have a full heart.” He said running his fingers through my hair.

“I have had a very full last three summers. I mated your son first and you know the story. His advisor was a Panyu inu and he was a strong telepath and we formed what they call a soul bond. He is the father of the twins but he was killed over a year ago. His older brother Jin claimed me as his mate because of Panyu law and tradition. After his brother died I met Hisashi's reincarnate and I marked him in a fit of passion. My father hates him but that is a long and sordid story. Naraku is Mizuki's sire. She has black hair and mahogany eyes. She bears my crest.” I said with a far away look.

“You miss them.” He said wistfully.

“I do but I have been no good to them since I was in Wallachia. Vlad violated my body and mind; he almost broke me.” I said looking at him.

“You were violated?” he asked in a pained voice.

“Hai.” I remarked.

“How long has it been for you?” he asked gently.

“About six weeks.” I replied.

“I am sorry for coupling with you so soon.” He said regretfully.

“Tekeshi, I am rather independent. I do what I want.” I said smiling.

“Come we must go.” He said pulling me up.

“Alright.” I said holding his arm.

We transformed into my energy sphere and went in the direction of the white wolves.

We had reached the dens later that day. I wrinkled my nose at the idea of a whole bunch of ookami but they were isolated. I met Tekeshi's sister Hinako and knew where Ayame had gotten the green eyes; it made sense. Hinako had soft brown hair and jade green eyes and was tiny compared to myself. She came up a little past my shoulders. She was sweet unless provoked and her mate seemed good at it. The ookami lord had a knack for angering his mate but there was genuine affection. Tekeshi seemed quite at home but he was very easy going. I sat amongst the ookami and knew they were more pack like then the West's inu. This point in time the silver inu were more like royalty anyway.

I walked amongst the dens and the male ookami were leering and it was angering me. Tekeshi spent time with his sister so I took the opportunity to practice my fang. I was having a hard time getting the technique to repeat. Ayame's grandsire was named Kenma and he was almost as obnoxious as Prince Kouga. I was sitting on a rock looking at the sky watching the different clouds go by and frustrated as hell. I knew this weapon was powerful but I its master could not make it work on my command. I decided to go up the cliff and check out the view. I jumped up small ledges and made it to the top of the cliff. I went over to the edge and saw in the distance. I narrowed my eyes and felt a presence that was familiar; my eyes widened and I knew that it was an uppyr. I made my yoki cloud appear and I drifted down. I moved quickly and made it to the forest. I masked my presence and followed the blood drinker's aura. I followed it and observed the being. It was male and it appeared very Japanese. I was masked heavily and I came right up upon him. When he heard a noise and whirled around; I had my fang to his throat and my eyes were red.

“Who are you and I suggest that you answer quickly!” I snarled.

“Ataru! What have I done?” he asked fearfully.

He was young and fear showed in his brown eyes.

“You are kiang shi.” I said growling.

“I have done nothing inu!” he protested.

“Do you drink the blood of ningen?” I asked.

“NO!” he answered.

I slowly lowered my fang but I let me claws glow green. I watched him and he looked offended. I growled loudly and he about jumped.

“How old are you?” I asked.

“I am not even sixty.” He answered.

“Are you alone or are you affiliated?” I asked in a low tone.

“What have I done that warrants such treatment?” he asked.

“Answer the fucking question!” I snarled.

I heard Tekeshi and Hinako coming upon the scene and I was radiating fury.

“I know one or two. There is no coven if that is what you mean.” He said afraid.

“Have you ever been off the islands?” I asked urgently.

“NO!” he answered.

My poison reabsorbed and I backed off. The uppyr looked at me like I was crazy and I willed him to move. Tekeshi touched my arm and I looked at him gratefully.

“Have you seen foreign kiang shi on this soil?” I asked forcefully.

“Hai.” He said carefully.

“Where were they from?” I demanded.

“I am not sure but they were not Asian.” He said.

I gouged my palms with my claws and blood dripped to the ground.

“Do not associate with them. They feast on ningen and youki alike and if I find that you have your life will be forfeit.” I said in a very feral tone.

“Who are you?” he asked fearfully.

-You do as I say or you will be dead. - I said telepathically.

His eyes widened and I circled him.

-You are not full inu! - He thought back.

-No but you could be in danger if you deal with the foreigners. They are disgusting and evil. - I thought.

“I do not understand.” He commented in voice.

“You are still young yet and not swayed to their ideals. They kill whatever they like.” I said in a calmer voice.

He nodded and still seemed to fear me.

“Are they here now?” I asked.

“They are in the south and dealing with the dragons.” He said.

“Go on.” I commanded.

“Hai.” He said and hurried away.

Tekeshi looked concerned and I shook in a fury. They had involved themselves this Far East and I was gonna end their interest here. I knew it had to be Vlad's doing. I had no intentions of showing my presence but I would stop them from helping the dragon scum.

“Asuna?” he questioned.

“I have a need to master my fang. We will be going to battle soon. I will not allow the European Uppyr to lay one claw in his land!” I snarled. I moved back to the dens and I was feeling the same turmoil as I had at the Western Palace. My presence here now seemed to make more sense.

“Tekeshi, I need Touga to know what is going on. The Dragon Clan is powerful enough but adding uppyr into the mix will complicate things. I am sure Vlad is behind this.” I said in a fury.

“Asuna, Touga will be here in a couple of days. You cannot be rash and you truly do not want them knowing your heritage. You do not want to alert this Vlad fellow of your true strength and nature.” He said calmly.

“Hai you are right.” I said.

“Come it is time we ate and settled down.” He said reasonably.

“I intend to hunt then; how about you?” I asked.

“I will stay here. The ookami hunt as a pack and bring it back for the whole clan.” He said.

I looked over at Hinako and she grinned at the idea of hunting. Tekeshi glared at me and I shrugged. The chocolate inu female came closer and she bowed. Tekeshi went back to the dens.

“Do you know how long it has been since I have hunted for myself?” she asked.

“Your mate seems very ookami.” I said charitably.

“He can be a bully. He loves me but I get sick of the ookami ways occasionally.” She grinned.

“I would get sick of them right away. I am too selfish to be a part of such togetherness” I said shuddering.

“You are honest!” she said laughing.

“You remind me of Tekeshi a lot.” I said with a smile.

“He is actually younger than me. I of course am an onna and could not rule the state.” She said.

I snorted at the idea and she seemed surprised. I shook my head at her sweet nature.

“I have been trained as a warrior. I am no less than any male.” I said.

“You have strength and confidence that most females do not have. Come there is a glen where Shika deer and boar congregate.” She said smiling.

“Change form?” I asked.

“Hai.” She nodded.

I changed first and towered over her petite form; then she changed. She was very pretty and her fur seemed to ripple. She was a good few feet shorter in stature but she was solid. Her green eyes stayed in her true form and I found that strange. She took off and I followed.

I was full and laying on my back in the glen. I loved hunting and the chase. Hinako was sleeping near me in her true form and I continued to just lay there in mine too. I scented ookami and Tekeshi coming closer and I barked and yipped. Hinako looked up and the males came into the clearing. I looked down at Lord Tekeshi with my scarlet eyes. I sensed that he was satisfied with my appearance. I transformed and stood up. Hinako followed suit and she went to Kenma.

“We got concerned when you did not come back right away.” Tekeshi said.

“We were full.” I said grinning.

“Onnas should be hunted for!” Kenma snapped.

“This onna prefers the kill Prince.” I said staring at him.

Kenma looked displeased but I went by Tekeshi and he murmured something softly that I did not catch. Hinako winked at me and the ookami moved away.

“What did you say?” I asked him.

“I am in awe of you.” He said.

“You have a very smooth tongue Tekeshi.” I said smiling.

“I have never seen a female as you. You are almost as big Touga but sleeker.” He said running his claws through my hair.

“Hmmm well now I want you to try and help me with this blasted fang.” I said.

“Hai. I cannot get used to you.” He said backing away.

“You will meet your life mate soon. She is kind like you and very soft and pretty. I have seen her portrait.” I said pulling my fang.

“Funny I truly have no wish to know of any other female.” He said in a flippant tone.

“We are deluding ourselves you know. Why not just enjoy what we have now?” I said falling into a battle stance.

He drew his own weapon and he too fell into a stance.

“Because I am not like that. I have only rutted with three females in my life.” He said and moved forward and struck my blade.

“This has to be a closure for you Tekeshi. I have ended up hurting you.” I said throwing him back and we clashed blades and he pushed me back.

“I told you that I would deal with the fall out.” He said jumping back.

I surged forward and locked my fang with his. There was a look of determination on his face and he threw me off. He moved forward aggressively and I had to block several blows as he struck quickly. He knocked the blade from my hand but I rolled and willed it back. I was on one knee and I had to hold the fang up to block and cut my palm. I winced but stood back up and spun on him and nicked him in the shoulder. He looked up at me and struck again and pushed me back with sheer strength. He may have a light hearted soul but he was a tremendous fighter. I dropped to knee and swept a leg underneath him and he fell. I dropped my fang and straddled his hips.

“I win.” I said looking down at him.

“So you have.” He smiled.

I stood up and he joined me. I willed my fang back into my hand. He turned me so that my back was to his chest. He put his hands on mine as I grasped the hilt.

“What were you feeling when you released it last time?” he asked in my ear.

“Pain and rage.” I said.

“Build up all the anguish that you have been through these past three years for you. Do not think just feel.” He commanded.

I had never released my previous fang on feeling before it was just channeling my yoki and focus. The Kumosaiga pulsed in my hand. My eyes widened and I saw the subtle ripple in the air again.

“No thinking.” He said.

I swung the blade down forcefully and the effect was instantaneous; it spread out like before but it was a massive explosion. It wiped out the trees and rocks fell from the nearby dens. I turned and looked at Tekeshi and smiled. He nodded and withdrew from me. I could feel a change in demeanor and I caught his eyes.

“I have friends in Manchuria that I think I will visit and soon. I cannot be with you and not feel…” he started to say.

“Do not say it. You cannot take it back if you say it.” I said.

“You do not want me to acknowledge my feelings?” he asked in disbelief.

“I would have you enjoy our relationship as it is. I would have you distance yourself from your feelings.” I said sheathing my fang.

“You would have us have a casual relationship that potentially hurts us both.” He demanded of me.

“No. You need to go to Manchuria.” I said stiffly.

“I see. I never return do I?” he asked.

“I did not say that.” I snapped.

“You forget I can feel your emotions.” He said flatly.

“Tekeshi do yourself a favor and learn to shield.” I said flippantly.

“Asuna do yourself a favor and return to reality.” He snapped.

“Why do you have to be so damn honorable? Why do you have to be a saint?” I asked all of a sudden.

“Because I could not live with myself if I were not honorable. I am not perfect as you know; I failed you in your previous incarnation. I failed myself.” He said backing away.

“Why does it have to come to this?” I asked him.

“Because I cannot not love you.” He said fiercely.

“You cannot be Touga.” I said painfully.

“No.” he said.

“It was said you left Japan because of Natsumi.” I said absently.

“You have seen her?” he asked.

“Hai.” I said looking away.

“You could be mistaken for her.” He answered.

“I cannot believe I am the reason you will leave. You are a coward.” I said in anger.

“How am I being a coward?” he asked his pride affronted.

“To leave because of a mere onna.” I said in despair.

“You will never be a mere onna. I think it best if we find a witch. I think it would be a good idea to forget you.” He said straightening himself.

“Find one yourself!” I snapped.

“I may need to.” He said leaving the glen.

I wanted to hunt down the dragons and I wanted to kill some uppyr. I could not stand the idea that he would just walk away. I knew it had to be done but it killed my spirit and inflamed my beast. I transformed into my sphere and went in search of something to decimate.

I was brought low again by another Manchu inu and the thing was he was one of the best males I had ever known. I had gone further south and I was stalking a pretty nasty looking dragon. He had laid waste to a ningen village and he was going to be my punching bag so to speak.

“Far from home?” I asked as I unmasked my aura.

“Well an inu. I just found my dinner!” he snarled.

He drew a katana and I drew my own fang. I did not feel like waiting to fight and wanted to see what my fang would do to an enemy. I allowed my turmoil from Tekeshi to overwhelm me and I saw the swirling and rippling yoki. I brought the blade from the side and with a great amount of force let loose the rippling attack. The thunderous sound rocked the area and the dragon never stood a chance. The effect was similar to Mount Fuji and the flesh and bones seem to melt away. The wave expanded out and decimated vegetation.

“Bastard.” I said crunching what was left of the dragon underneath my boot.

I walked slowly forward and sheathed my fang. I had unleashed a pretty powerful attack and I was pleased. My beast was against my conscious and I never had to rein it in. It was snarling and upset and I knew because it was Tekeshi. I transformed again but into my true form. I moved north and my beast was gleeful. I started running; I had not gone more than half a day away. I soon picked up a faint scent of Tekeshi and I followed it. I would scent the area and knew he was still at the dens. He was probably waiting for Touga. I moved within a hundred feet of the Northern dens and started whining loudly. The ookami would probably move on me but I whined and barked loudly. I let out one long continuous yowl. I was right and ookami came but so did Tekeshi and Touga. My `brother' stared at me but I lowered my nose to Tekeshi and growled loudly at him. He looked angry but he seemed to stay calm. I butted him with my nose and he slapped it. I growled louder and my saliva was starting to drip.

“She is angry; what did you do?” Touga asked Tekeshi.

“Nothing.” He snapped.

“Her beast is in control and looks down right pissed off.” Touga remarked.

Tekeshi walked away from everyone and I followed. I continued to growl at him and he turned on me.

“Change back right now!” he demanded.

I snapped my fangs at him and lowered my angry gaze.

“You are old enough to control your beast now do it!” he snapped.

I butted him forcefully with my nose and growled even louder. His eyes were actually red and I snapped at him again. He changed form and growled right back. I saw Touga with the corner of my eye. We circled each other and I jumped forward and started to tear at his throat.

“Kenma I suggest you clear everyone out. They are going to have a nasty brawl.” Touga warned.

“What in the hell are they doing Touga?” the Northern prince asked.

“Not one hundred percent sure.” He answered.

“Tekeshi told her he was leaving.” Hinako piped up.

“Leaving?” Touga asked shocked.

“Hai he is in love with her.” Hinako answered.

“So what are they doing Touga?” Kenma asked.

“Mating.” He said.

Tekeshi swiped at me with his paw and gouged my flesh; I snarled and jumped on him. I was biting into a leg but my saliva was not hurting him. He had to have a toxin as well. He was a taiyouki and would be immune to other inu poisons. He roared and with brute strength threw me and I hit a rock face. I whined but rolled over and got up. I went at him again and I bit into a shoulder and he snarled. We were face to face snarling and biting each others muzzles and reached up with a paw on my shoulder and gouged the skin with his claws. He reached up his other paw and he was forcing me down. He was much larger than me in this form and was more heavily muscled. Silver inu were typically along more lithe lines and exceptional hunters. Tekeshi was a fighting inu. I surged my strength and threw him off and I nipped his ear. He jumped on me and I was under him. My head was underneath his belly and he was biting my hind quarters. I whined and could not throw him. He moved and he pinned me under him. His massive head was now over mine. He growled terribly and I was fighting against him with my will. I knew what I was supposed to do but I was not doing it. I tried to lean my head back and bite him. He snarled again. I nipped his nose aggressively and he bit into my ear. I whined again and he did it again. I growled loudly and he moved his muzzle and bit the other ear. I whined and bared my neck and he wrapped his jaws around it and growled fiercely. We stayed like that; both of our massive bodies were bloodied and bruised. Touga came over and looked at us.

“Are you both done trying to kill each other?” he asked.

Tekeshi growled but still would not release my throat. Touga arched his brow and shook his head.

“You are going to hold her down all night?” he asked.

Tekeshi growled again and I snarled. He pushed his weight down on me and I grunted.

“Well. I am going to enjoy a nice meal amongst friends and you two can act like spoilt puppies by yourself.” He said walking away.

I snarled again and he again pressed down his weight.

-Please I cannot breathe. - I pathed.

He growled and I tried to shake him off. He slowly got off of me and he let go of my throat. I changed form and so did he. We were both bitten and battered but he came to me and devoured my mouth. Our breathing was harsh and we were still growling. He ripped off my haori and ran his hands over them roughly and his hands went to my hakamas and tore the stays. We were both still under the influence of our beasts; I too was tearing at his own haori and hakamas. I went to my hands and knees and he was on me. He slid into me and his chest was pressed into my back. He held himself up by his arms and he moved within me hard. I growled and cried out as he pounded into me. This was entirely instinct but I wanted this male so badly that I allowed him to dominate me. I was coming to climax quickly and I cried out. He lowered his mouth to my neck and bit in. I cried out again and he roared as his spilled deep into me. We collapsed onto the ground. I was exhausted and sore as I came back from my beasts' haze. I heard Tekeshi above me and he cursed under his breath.

“I need water.” I said hoarsely.

“You came after me! Why?” he asked angrily.

“I do not know.” I lied.

“I have never made a bitch kowtow to me!” he snapped.

“I was in a blood lust.” I lied again.

“You were angry; you made that quite clear when you were challenging me in your inu form.” He said harshly.

“I told you I was in a blood lust. I had just killed a dragon.” I said shoving him back.

“I marked you. Kamis I marked you!” he said in a fury.

“I am sorry. I did not want you to leave because of me.” I said shamefully.

“Why not tell me the truth? I can feel it.” He said pressing his forehead to mine.

“I cannot!” I hissed.

“Well we are kind of in a sticky situation do you not think?” he asked sarcasticlly.

“It does not matter.” I said crawling away from him.

“It matters to me! Do you think that I will mark another bitch? Do you honestly think that I can feel this way about anyone else?” he said pained.

“It was a fluke.” I said sitting up and putting on my tattered haori.

“That is hardly serviceable. You wanted me to fight you; you wanted me to subdue you.” He accused.

“Alright! I wanted you to subdue me.” I admitted.

“I have never fought another inu in such a manner.” He said shaking his head.

“Well I and my twin used to fight in our true forms.” I said looking away.

“I love you.” He said in a taunting voice.

“You love Sorami not me. You love a sweet and loving onna. I am not those things.” I said pulling on my tattered hakamas.

“Those are not serviceable!” he thundered.

“Fine they are not serviceable!” I yelled back.

“You are right I love Sorami but she has become you. I love you.” He snarled.

“What bothers you more Tekeshi; the fact that I wanted you or I made you feel dishonorable?” I said standing.

“What bothers me is that you have to go back to your life where I obviously do not exist. What bothers me is that eventually I will never see you again.” He said flexing his claws.

“I did not mark you in return, there is that. You are free as far as I am concerned. You have to be free in order to fulfill your roll.” I said.

“That is crap and you know it.” He said pacing.

“Things are so different here. I am not encumbered by my own past. You are by far the most honorable and desirable I have come across. I love you and I can not have you either. I can have this mark and I can remember.” I said as tears stung my eyes.

He stared at me and I moved further into the trees. I needed to head back to my era and leave well enough alone. I needed to find Tamiko and I needed to kill Vlad. He moved behind me and kissed my neck.

“We are both fools.” He commented.

“Hai.” I responded.

“I understand what it is has to be done.” He said softly.

“Hai.” I said with a heavy heart.

“I want to be with you again before you leave.” He murmured.

“Hai please.” I said.

He held me close and we consumed each other again.

I stood at the entrance of the witch's residence and knocked. I waited and Tamiko came forward.

“I have been expecting you Lady Asuna!” she said bowing.

“I have made a mess of things.” I said.

“Nothing that cannot be fixed.” She said smiling sweetly.

“You foresaw me coming.” I stated.

“Hai.” She said as she bade me sit down.

“I need to go home and finish my business.” I said.

“Hai you do.” She said sweetly.

“You can make them forget?” I asked.

“I can modify their memories.” She confirmed.

“Can you make Tekeshi forget me?” I asked painfully.

“I can make him think it a dream.” She answered.

“They will forget all the details?” I asked.

“Touga will remember some. He needs to know some of it. He needs to know that his sister has forgiven him.” She replied.

“Tekeshi will find his mate in Manchuria?” I asked again.

“He will find her and father Katashi as he is destined.” She confirmed.

“Then I am ready to go home.” I said closing my eyes.

“You will carry much from your time here.” She said.

“Hai.” I replied.

“Why did I join with him just to lose him?” I asked.

“Because you were supposed to.” She said softly.

I nodded and she produced an amulet very similar to the one Natsumi had broken. She threw it down and the same barely visible ripple occurred.

“Find me in your era.” She said.

“Hai!” I responded.

I stepped through it and I was near the Western Palace.

I had been home only a few hours and I had gotten my self clean and in a silver and blue kimono. I went to my father's study and bowed.

“I have unleashed the Kumosaiga, would you care to observe my Lord?” I asked.

“Hai.” He said standing.

He followed me and I was reserved. We went outside to the arena area and I unsheathed my fang. I poured my anguish and saw the ripple. I arced the blade and released the full fury. The poor trees that were in the path were destroyed. My sire looked very pleased indeed.

“That was what happened at Mount Fuji.” He remarked.

“Hai my Lord.” I answered.

“You are still pained by current events.” He stated.

“Past events also my Lord.” I said looking away.

“Jin has written several times.” He remarked.

“I will go to him in a few days.” I responded.

“You will not speak?” he asked of me.

“There is nothing to say.” I said then bowed and left.

Sesshomaru stared after his oldest daughter and knew something was weighing her down again and she was closing it in.

I was in Manchuria at the family shrine in He Gang. I wore a hood and cloak over my kimono and masked my scent and aura. I was touching Tekeshi's smaller shrine and tears stained my face. He was so different from everyone and I had gotten to know him. Sorami would have cared for him and they would have been credibly happy; he and I would have been like my parents. I loved Naraku with all my heart but my life with him would always be divided. There was a houshi standing behind me and I turned and looked at him.

“Lady Asuna!” he said softly.

“Hai houshi.” I responded.

“You are at Lord Tekeshi's shrine my lady.” He said confused.

“Letters were found amongst my grandsire's writings that we found. He and the Taisho were great friends. I wished to pay respects to such an honorable and good lord.” I said.

“That was the old lord.” The houshi said.

“Did you know that he carried a small amount of spiritual powers?” I asked.

“No my Lady.” He said surprised

“His great grandmere was a ningen miko.” I said.

I touched the kanji on the stone and I nearly cried again.

“My Lady you suffer.” He replied.

“No. I am just thinking on the legend.” I said as I stood.

“Is Lord Katashi home?” I asked.

“Hai he is in the palace.” The houshi said bowing.

“Thank you.” I said as I breezed past him.

I walked slowly to the Winter Palace and the guards let me in. They must have standing orders to let me pass. I went to Katashi's library and he was there at his desk and he looked upset.

“Hello my friend.” I remarked.

“Asuna?” he looked up surprised.

“Hai it is I.” I said smiling.

“Come in please.” He said.

I came into the room and sat down.

“What is ailing you Katashi?” I asked in concern.

“You would not care to know.” He said almost bitterly.

“Your son is making problems.” I stated.

“You are observant.” He remarked.

“Why not make him your heir?” I asked.

“I do not know him for one and two if one wishes to rule one day and be on friendly terms then one should not carry out military campaigns against the current lord.” He said angry.

“I do not understand.” I said shaking my head.

“It is no matter Asuna. I have been winning but it has come at a cost.” He said sitting back.

“Do you care to spar?” I asked.

“Really?” he asked staring.

“Hai. I have a new fang.” I said with a gentle smile.

“What happened to the other?” he asked intrigued.

“It could not be retrieved. I have no wish to dwell.” I said.

“Very well.” He said standing.

I pulled my fang out and showed it to Katashi. His eyes perused the blade and he was impressed.

“It is called the Kumosaiga.” I said.

“It is a gorgeous weapon.” He said admiring it.

“Come let me wipe your dojo with your backside.” I said grinning.

“Like hell you can.” He said playfully.

We went to his dojo and I took off the cloak. I had on a white haori and hakamas that were edged in the West's honeycomb pattern. I had a blue obi around my waist. My hair was pulled back in a long braid. Katashi had on a black pein-fu. He looked magnificent as usual. His black hair was loose and it reminded me of his father's.

He pulled the now familiar sword and I held my own fang. I kept my scent masked so if there was a lingering scent of Tekeshi; he would not notice it.

“Something has changed in you.” He commented.

“A lot has changed.” I murmured.

He parried then struck. I blocked easily and our blades struck several times. He was physically very strong and I had to block aggressively. I managed to strike his shoulder and he shoved me back. I whirled and brought my fang down quickly. He blocked and our blades ran across each other. He shoved me back and I back flipped. I blocked a side strike and he was eyeing me carefully.

“You have become quite the swordsman.” He said impressed.

“Who is my father?” I asked lightly.

“Hai. He bested me every time we sparred.” He remarked.

“I have brought him to his knees twice.” I said smirking.

“Well it seems as if you are seeing my moves ahead of time.” He said as our blades clashed.

“No. Can you tell me about your father?” I asked.

“Why?” he asked curiously.

“We found letters from him to the Taisho. It seems my grandsire thought very highly of him. Why did he leave Japan?” I asked.

“Honestly it was because of an onna. I am not sure if it was your grandmere or not. Some say it was.” He answered.

“Did he love her I wonder?” I asked in a strange voice.

“Hai I know he did. He never spoke of it. He loved my mother I know but he would have dreams and when I was a pup he would call out for her.” He said stopping.

“I cannot imagine it was Natsumi.” I said shaking my head.

“No he would say aijou.” He said shrugging.

“How did he die exactly?” I asked.

“He died in battle. He fell when his heart was pierced by Jing.” He said looking at me.

“So Jing took a lot from you.” I said.

“Hai she did.” He said sheathing his fang.

“I was shocked when I read his words is all Katashi. I am sorry to bring up bad memories.” I said.

“Come I will show you his old chambers.” He said.

I followed him and we went down an unused hall. He pushed open the doors and I followed. The room was dusty but it was grand.

“This is not him.” I said barely audible.

“I did not hear you.” Katashi said as he turned to look at me.

“It is grand!” I said smiling.

“There is a portrait of him that your grandsire had done.” He said almost excited.

I watched Katashi and knew he had loved his father very much. We moved into the sitting area and there was Tekeshi depicted in a battle with the Dragon Clan. It was a very good likeness and I stared at it.

“That is Ryukotsusei in the background.” I said.

“Yeah he is an ugly bastard.” Katashi said laughing.

I moved around the room and I picked up a slate and I could see a flash. Tekeshi was sitting in this room teaching Katashi to read. Father and son looked so much alike. I gasped and put the slate down.

“What did you see?” he asked not surprised.

“He was teaching you to read.” I said.

“Hai. He did that all right.” He said sadly.

“I should not intrude.” I said.

“There are things he wrote that I do not understand, maybe your historian could. I now know he spoke of his betrothed and that was Lady Sorami. He spoke of a battle between wills. I have no idea what he means. He was still in Japan and things were very different then.” He said looking at the ceiling.

“May I see them?” I asked.

“Hai. They make no sense though.” He said.

He went to a small desk and pulled out old scrolls. He handed them to me and I sat upon the floor and opened them. They were short accounts of the time I was with him and Touga. I was aijou and he had not forgotten. I fought back tears and I knew that he had intended for me to see them. I looked up at Katashi and he saw the tears stinging my eyes.

“What is wrong?” he asked.

“He is telling of accounts with his lover and the Taisho. This happened right before he left Japan. The Taisho has similar accounts also.” I said.

“Well my father was a little wild in his life.” He chuckled.

“He speaks of a sake contest.” I said smirking.

“My father?” he asked incredulously.

“Hai right here. The Taisho said something similar.” I lied.

“Well it seems I need to delve a little about him. I was always in awe of him.” He said helping me stand.

“He seems to have been an extraordinary youki.” I stated.

“Hai and it was a privilege being his pup.” Katashi stated.

“I need to go. I have to get to Panyu.” I said stiffly.

“Hai. Thank you for the sport.” He said bowing.

“I shall see you soon.” I said.

“That would be nice.” He said.

“May I see your fang for a moment?” I said before leaving.

He unsheathed it and handed it to me. I took the hilt and it pulsed in my hand. I nearly dropped it and it continued to pulse.

“That only happened when I was bequeathed it!” Katashi exclaimed.

I handed it back and I looked at him in shock.

“Asuna what is going on?” he asked as his green eyes narrowed.

“I do not know Katashi.” I said honestly.

“Asuna this was my father's fang. It recognizes you for some reason.” He said.

“I was mated to you at one time moron.” I said defensively.

“You absolved the union remember?” he asked sarcasticlly.

“Katashi I am sorry. I have no idea what is going on.” I said shaking my head.

“This fang would only recognize blood Asuna.” He said looking at me.

“I do not know Katashi.” I said firmly.

“You are lying. I know you well enough to know when you out right lie.” He said snapping.

“I am not lying. I have no reason to; I was Sorami almost a thousand summers ago and your father was betrothed to her.” I said.

“No something is going on.” He said firmly.

“Well I have no idea.” I said as I turned to leave.

“I will know why my fang accepts you.” He said.

“I do not want it! Do not worry on it.” I snapped.

“This fang only accepts direct blood relatives Asuna not mates.” He said darkly.

“Well it is obvious I am not related.” I snapped.

“This is most strange. You handled this fang when we were together.” He commented.

“Katashi I would like to see my sons. I have been training with Totosai for awhile and I miss them.” I said.

“Go on then. I would like to see you in Japan when you are back.” He said.

“Fine.” I said.

I left the palace and transformed into my energy sphere. I went south and to Panyu.

I walked into the palace at Guangzhou and Jin smiled widely. I smiled back and moved to my sons. They smiled up at me and I hugged them.

“I have missed you two!” I cried.

“Hahaoya!” the cried together.

“Do you want to see you grandmere and grandsire?” I asked.

“Hai! Mayu too!” Hiroto yelled.

Jin stared down at me and I was still a little distant. I looked up at him and my eyes were shadowed.

“You look unwell.” He said kneeling by me.

“It was hot as the seven hells working with Totosai. I have unleashed the Kumosaiga though.” I said proudly.

“That is wonderful!” he exclaimed.

“You can touch me Jin. I am just tired.” I said quietly.

He pulled me to him and held me close. I let out a soft growl signaling my contentment.

“You seem very unwell.” Jin said looking at me.

“I am fine. I do need to return to Japan and deal with some things there. I would like you to accompany me and stay.” I asked hopefully.

“Of course I will.” He said nuzzling my neck.

“Come let us go then.” I said standing.

“I will take the twins first then come back for you.” He said.

I nodded and sat. It would be several minutes and I leaned against the wall. I fell asleep in the few short minutes. Jin gently shook me awake and I looked at him.

“How often have you been sleeping?” he asked.

“About every five days.” I said.

“That is too long. Are you having nightmares?” he asked gently.

“Some.” I said standing.

He pulled me to him and we ported back to the Western Palace. I was tired and I did need sleep but I wanted to see Mizuki and Naraku.

-See you tomorrow. - I thought very deeply.

Naraku brushed my mind and I knew he had `heard' my thought. I was satisfied. I also needed to seek out Tamiko. I decided to see my mother and I went to her study. She was handling some matters of state for my father and she looked up.

“Baby you are sick.” She said immediately standing.

“I am just very tired mother. I have been very busy and I am drained.” I said.

“You are shielding rather heavily.” She commented.

“I want privacy right now. I will share when I am ready.” I said softly.

“I understand.” She said.

“Katashi wants to visit and go through some of the old archives.” I said.

“He is welcome. How will Jin handle that?” she asked.

“It does not matter. Manchuria is an important state.” I said swaying on my feet.

“How long has it been since you have slept?” she asked.

“About six days.” I replied.

“Go to sleep.” She commanded.

“Hai I think I will.” I said.

“Are you afraid he will try and reach out to you?” she asked.

I stiffened but I nodded yes.

“Go sleep.” She said.

I left and went back to my chambers and stripped out of clothing. I went to the looking glass and looked at the mark Tekeshi had made. It had been deep and sure. It would actually heal into a shape. I put on a sleeping yukata and went and fell asleep on the futon.

“She is still sleeping after a full day.” Jin said to the Western lady.

“She is shielding from even me Jin. She is not speaking or pathing to anyone.” Augusta replied in a worried tone.

“Do you think she has spoken to the hanyou?” he asked neutrally.

“I see you have accepted the affiliation some.” Augusta said.

“I truly have no wish to know when she sees him or anything. I have no wish to loose her so I just do not think.” He said shrugging.

“No. She has said nothing to nobody.” Augusta said.

“He brutalized her did he not?” Jin asked softly.

“He is known to break wills to live. She seems to have lost some of her confidence. She is trying to sleep only when necessary.” She commented.

“How will we find him?” he asked.

“Through her when she is ready. He made her take his blood.” She said shuddering.

“Bastard!” Jin growled.

I felt Naraku's presence and I woke up. I sat up and saw him in the corner of my chambers.

“You snuck in?” I asked softly.

“You were not responding to my calls.” He said coming to my side.

“I have been in a deep sleep.” I said looking around.

“They are all in the Great Hall for the evening meal.” He said.

“I love you.” I said pulling him into a hug.

“I love you.” He said as he wrapped his arms around me.

“You still are shielding. You are still hurting?” he asked.

“I do not want to talk about it.” I said pulling away.

“I saw what he did Asuna.” He said firmly.

“Please do not say it okay?” I said flatly.

“Alright. How about your fang?” he asked.

“I shall like to show you. I have unleashed it.” I said excitedly.

“Will you come back to the castle for a day or so?” he asked.

“Hai.” I responded.

“Let me tell my mother.” I said standing.

I was sick to my stomach and realized I had not eaten in over a day. I grabbed my dressing gown and went to the Great Hall. I bowed to the family. I saw Akemi and Daichi at the low table. I bowed in their direction as well. I went over to my mother and whispered in her ear where I was going for one day and she nodded. I left the Great Hall and returned to my chambers.

“He has changed her.” Sesshomaru scowled.

“Give her time.” Augusta said softly.

“Lord Jin, this Sesshomaru requires your assistance and we shall hunt the bastard.” He said coldly.

“You have my sword Sesshomaru-sama.” Jin smirked with malice.

I went into Naraku' arms and he took me to the Northern Castle. I intended to seek out Tamiko while I was this far north. I immediately to the back of the castle and unsheathed my fang. I laid the sheath down.

“This will be loud.” I informed my hanyou mate.

I swung the fang and it appeared normal but the boom was heard and then the destructive rippling took place. I felled more trees and Naraku looked highly pleased.

“This Totosai used my fang so you could channel my yoki.” He stated.

“Hai.” I said.

“This is most gratifying.” He said smiling.

He lowered his lips to mine and I groaned into the kiss. He was being gentle and pushed it no further.

“Thank you.” I said.

“Hai.” He said brushing some stray hair off my forehead.

“I need to sleep some more. I cannot think.” I said.

“I have you.” He said as he picked me up.

He brought me up steps and into our room we shared when I was here. I went over to Mizuki's cradle and kissed her head. Her yoki flared at my touch and I smiled. I crawled onto the futon and passed out again.

“I am telling you Augusta that she has not woken up in two days.” Naraku said.

“Something is going on. I cannot reach her and she has basically put up a barrier around her mind.” She said.

“I am thinking she may need to go back to the Western Palace.” Naraku said in a morose tone.

“I am in agreement. Shall I bring Mizuki?” she asked.

“We shall keep her here for now.” He said looking at his daughter playing on the floor.

“I will bring her. Thank you for asking me to come.” Augusta said softly.

Augusta gathered her daughter to her and ported back to the West. They reappeared in her chambers and she laid her on the futon. She got up and went in search of her mate. She went into the study and there stood Tamiko and a very confused Sesshomaru.

“You have a guest mate.” He stated in a tone that said she would explain all.

“Tamiko-sama why are you here.” Augusta asked confused.

“To save the Lady Asuna.” She replied in her sweet voice.

“She has been shielding so I have no idea what is going on. Her abilities have increased.” She said.

“Can you take me to her?” Tamiko said.

“Hai.” Augusta said.

“Augusta I wish to know what is wrong as soon as possible.” Sesshomaru said flatly.

“Hai my love.” She answered.

Augusta led the way and looked at the ningen witch. She was nervous and hated that her pup was hiding from her. They reached the chambers and went in. Jin was holding Asuna's hand and he looked up. He noticed the ningen and looked confused.

“I am here to help her Lord Jin. My name is Tamiko.” The witch said bowing.

Jin looked at Augusta and she nodded. Jin stood up and moved to Augusta's side.

“Please find me when she is done please?” he asked in a soft voice.

“Hai Lord Jin.” Augusta said.

Jin left and they were alone. Tamiko went and sat by the prone Asuna and looked at Augusta.

“She is pupped Lady Augusta.” The witch said.

“Who and when?” she asked shocked.

“When she was away.” Tamiko replied.

“Away where Tamiko?” Augusta asked concerned.

“Sorami has been surfacing in her conscious and she went to the era where the Taisho was alive. She needed to confront and forgive her brother. She has needed to forgive herself.” Tamiko said softly.

“I wished she had told me.” Augusta said anguished.

“She had been suffering and ran into Lord Tekeshi. They had a short but passionate liaison.” The witch explained.

“Why would his pup affect her so?” Augusta asked in confusion.

“He has a miko in his heritage.” She explained.

“She is being purified.” Augusta said in horror.

“Hai! Although the blood has been diluted it came from a powerful miko.” She said.

“God help her.” Augusta said sitting back.

“Lord Tekeshi had no idea; I think that is what killed Lord Katashi's mother.” The witch theorized.

“What are we going to do?” she asked afraid.

“I think the answer lies with Tekeshi.” She answered.

“She would carry the pup and not survive the birth?” Augusta asked.

“Pretty much Lady Augusta.” The witch answered.

“How do I explain this?” she said.

“I have thought on that very carefully. I am going to say she has been cursed.” Tamiko answered.

“We have to go to the past?” Augusta asked.

“Hai.” She answered.

“I need to inform Sesshomaru, Jin, and Naraku of her curse.” She said standing.

“I will stay with her.” She said softly.

“I thank you for bringing this to my attention.” Augusta said as she left.

She went to the study and entered. She bowed to both Lords and stood.

“Asuna has been cursed by some kind of miko. She is slowly being purified.” Augusta said smoothly.

“What the hell?” Jin asked in shock.

“How can this be?” Sesshomaru said standing in a fury.

“Sesshomaru and Lord Jin I do not know but Tamiko-sama is a good witch. She has helped me before and is trying to do so now.” Augusta said calmly.

“The witch wishes to remove her does she not?” Sesshomaru asked.

“Hai my love. Tamiko has great power and all her things at her dwelling. She has the sight and that is how she knew Asuna was in danger.” She replied.

“Take them and go. I want to know who would dare touch the heir to the West!” he thundered.

“One thing at a time.” She said softly.

“Do not worry about Yoshiko.” Sesshomaru said.

“Then I go.” Augusta said.

“What era will it be?” Augusta asked.

“Around the same era as she left.” Tamiko said.

“I am ready.” Augusta said as she held Asuna to her.

Tamiko broke the amulet and the gateway appeared. Augusta lifted her daughter and went through. She looked around and she stood on the outskirts of the Western Palace. She knew of no other way then to just appear. She pictured the study of the palace and teleported there holding Asuna to her. She slowly appeared; a male inu jumped up in surprise and yelled. She knew this was the Taisho and she heard footsteps running to the study door. She held out her hand and the shoji door slammed shut and stayed there.

Touga stared at the ningen appearing onna who scented of complete youki. She held his sister/grand pup in her arm and her arm other was outstretched and he assumed that was what held the door shut. She was beautiful and obviously not Asian. She stared at him with light brown eyes.

“I am Augusta; Asuna is my daughter and I need your help. Call off the dogs.” She said.

The Taisho yelled out and the footsteps stopped. He looked at Asuna and she was ashen and very unconscious.

“What has happened to her?” he asked.

“Where is Lord Tekeshi?” she asked urgently.

“Still in the northern dens. He is slated to leave Japan in two weeks.” Touga answered.

“How much do you know?” Augusta asked.

“Quite a bit. You are my pup's mate?” he asked.

Augusta laid a silk pillow underneath her head and stood. She wore a rich red kimono with sakura blossoms on the left sleeve. She wore a pink and yellow obi. Her raven hair came to past her hips. She appraised the Taisho and decided that Sesshomaru favored his bitch mother. She hated Natsumi and had offered to drain her blood but Sesshomaru had declined.

“I am his mate.” She said.

“What are you?” he asked.

“I am uppyr Lord Touga. I have been mated to your son for well over a century.” She said.

“What is wrong with her?” he said coming around the desk.

“She is slowly being purified.” Augusta said darkly.

“How in the seven hells?” he asked shocked.

“Your friend Lord Tekeshi has a miko in his background. Did his mother survive his birth?” she asked.

“No. He has a half sister who too lost her mother early.” He said realizing what was going on.

“Hai. Whoever the miko was she was a powerful one because her blood still possesses purification power.” Augusta said tersely.

“Tekeshi will need to know. How are you going to help her?” he asked.

“You are going to find the ningen witch Tamiko and bring her here. I am going to find Tekeshi. I can teleport to the dens quickly.” She said.

“You order me?” he asked surprised.

“She is your sister is she not? Do you really wish to see her die again? I am her mother and I promise you that I will move your balls into the next island with just a thought!” she fumed.

“You are a protective bitch.” He said approvingly.

“I have gone through hell to give Sesshomaru the pups we have. I will not watch one die. You owe her.” Augusta said fiercely.

“Calm yourself I will do as you ask.” He said.

She heard his thoughts and growled at him. He was surprised and she looked at him.

“Do not ogle me dog. I belong to Sesshomaru.” She snapped.

“How do you know that?” he said narrowing his eyes.

“Because I am a telepath and you are an open book.” She snapped.

“Fine. You are a fierce little bitch.” He said.

“Is there somewhere we can lay her down.” She asked.

“She stayed at the lodge when she was here.” He offered.

“The palace is much safer. Natsumi can kiss my ass.” She said pulling her daughter up.

“Let me take her. I will put her in my chambers.” He said sighing.

“Your mate is a vile heartless bitch that I will gut.” Augusta said.

“She is also carrying my heir and your mate.” He pointed out.

“Damn!” she cursed.

Touga laughed and found himself liking the foreign youki immensely. He carried Asuna into his own chambers and laid her on his futon. She was terribly ashen and he felt worry. He left his chambers with the female following him. He sent a soldier to guard his chambers.

“You know of the ookami dens?” he asked.

“Hai Lord Touga I know where the dens are.” Augusta answered.

“Tekeshi is..”

“A black inu, I know what he looks like.” She snapped.

“Well I meet you back here as soon as possible.” He said.

“Hai!” she said.

Augusta appeared at the dens and moved into the cliffs. She felt the ookami and moved swiftly. She was scenting out the blood of Tekeshi. She watched as a very handsome black inu came forward with a strong looking ookami prince.

“Lord Tekeshi?” she asked.

“Who are you?” he asked with narrowed eyes.

“I am Lady Augusta and mother to the Lady Asuna.” She said.

“Why are you worried?” he asked quickly.

“Asuna needs you now.” Augusta said.

“My Lady please tell me why you are afraid.” He asked.

Augusta knew instantly that this inu was an empath. She perused his form and found him worthy of her daughter.

“I wish to explain that in private my Lord.” She said.

Augusta moved to leave and Hinako grabbed Tekeshi's arm. He looked at his sister and shook his head.

“I mean him no harm Lady Hinako. I am just taking him to the Western Palace.” Augusta answered the unvoiced thought.

“What the hell are you?” Hinako asked.

Augusta turned around and smiled. She stared at the chocolate inu and lifted her brown eyes to the green ones.

“I am concerned mother as you will soon be.” She said.

“I am pupped?” Hinako asked shocked.

“Hai and it is a male. Now please I need your brother to help save my own pup. You should see a miko and very soon.” She replied.

Tekeshi came with Augusta and gently took an elbow. They went out of the dens and Tekeshi turned to Augusta.

“What is wrong with her?” he asked.

“She is slowly being purified.” She said.

“How?” he asked in shock.

“Your miko ancestor's blood is apparently still strong in your veins.” Augusta said.

“What exactly are you saying?” he asked confused.

“She carries your pup.” Augusta said softly.

“What? I did not scent her heat cycle.” He said in a pained voice.

“She lost a pup not long ago and I think her body had not returned to a normal cycle. I did the same thing with my youngest son.” She said putting a clawed hand on his shoulder.

“I am sorry. Please I need to see her.” He said worried.

“I will take us there now.” Augusta replied.

She held onto his shoulder and they ported back to the Western Palace. She had brought them near Touga's chambers. The soldier recognized Tekeshi and bowed.

“Allow me and this lady to enter please.” Tekeshi commanded softly.

“Hai my Lord.” The soldier answered then bowed.

“Thank you.” Augusta murmured.

“The Lady Natsumi was most insistent to enter earlier but I kept her out my Lord Tekeshi.” The soldier said.

“You did well.” Tekeshi said.

Augusta entered then followed by Tekeshi. She recognized the chambers as her own in the future era. She went and took her daughter's hand and Tekeshi came in and sat by her. She was pale and sickly looking.

“How long was she gone?” Augusta asked.

“Not even a week.” He answered.

“I sense her mind. She is trying to stir; she must feel your aura.” Augusta said quietly.

I slowly came to but I was confused. I looked around a little and saw my mother and Tekeshi. I was shocked to say the least.

“Mother? Tekeshi?” I questioned.

“Hai baby girl it is I.” she responded.

“Asuna.” Tekeshi whispered.

“Why are we back here? Mother?” I asked still confused.

“Asuna my darling you are pupped.” She said.

“I know.” I responded.

“Why did you not tell me?” she asked.

“I was so tired. I could not think. I knew when I touched the fang.” I said closing my eyes.

“The fang?” Tekeshi asked surprised.

“I see.” Augusta said in understanding.

“My fang?” he asked.

“Hai.” Augusta answered.

“Asuna. Tamiko was at the palace. I brought you back from the Northern Castle and she was waiting.” She said.

“I am a moron. She told me outright I was carrying much with me.” I said as my eyes were still closed.

“That was a cryptic statement my darling. You are being purified slowly.” She informed.

“Hai it makes sense. The miko blood.” I said falling back to sleep.

Tekeshi looked at Augusta and she could see the turmoil on his face. He picked up her hand and kissed it. He gently laid her hand back down and motioned for Augusta to follow him. They went outside the chambers and turned to her.

“As much as it kills me to say this I think the pregnancy needs to be ended.” He said looking down.

“Lord Tekeshi; Asuna would rather die. I know how she feels on the subject.” She said.

“I cannot be with her but I will not have my seed kill her!” he said with barely contained fury.

“Tekeshi look at me.” Augusta said.

He looked up at her and she could see how the information was affecting him.

“We will save her. I will not let my daughter die. My mate would never forgive me.” She said lightly.

“What in the hell is going on?” a familiar voice said.

Augusta rolled her eyes and turned and looked at the current Western Lady. She was newly pupped and Augusta wished like hell Sesshomaru had been born already so she could choke the life out of the bitch.

“We are taking care of a very close friend Natsumi.” Tekeshi said tightly.

“So that is why I cannot enter my own mate's chambers?” she asked in a nasty voice.

“Touga does this for me Natsumi. It really is no concern of yours.” The future Manchu Lord said coldly.

“I am the Western Lady fool!” she sneered.

“Then why not act like it?” Augusta said very sweetly.

“Who are you?” she sneered again.

“I am Tekeshi's lover you cold bitch.” Augusta said narrowing her eyes.

Tekeshi snorted and Augusta crossed her arms over her chest.

“Also no you cannot use his friendship with Touga to get more favor. Oh and by the way Touga is a most excellent lover; I will tell him you do not think so next time they share me!” Augusta said nastily.

Tekeshi busted out laughing and so did the soldier standing guard. Natsumi was furious and wished she could tear the other female apart.

“You must take care Lady Natsumi; you carry your only reason for being.” Augusta said sweetly.

“I will see you again and I will tear you apart.” She fumed.

“Right. Okay you can go now.” Augusta said dismissively.

Natsumi left in a fury and Augusta watched her go with satisfaction. She chuckled and watched Tekeshi smile a little.

“You are something!” he remarked with a smile.

“Well my mate even hates her. He banishes her but he will not let me kill her. I swear I have begged him several times.” She said rolling her eyes.

“What can we do to save Asuna?” he said.

“My sister in law so to speak is a miko. She is talented in healing and in her books it mentions things about blood sensitivities. Different types of blood and how they can work against each other and possibly kill a baby or in this case the mother.” She said thinking.

“Can you not bring her here?” he asked hopefully.

“That is an option but she would freak if she saw Touga.” She replied.

“Touga would believe anything at this point.” Tekeshi said.

“Even that he sires a hanyou?” she asked.

“I know, Asuna told me. His name is Inuyasha.” He replied.

“Goodness she must trust you. Wait a minute! Akemi! She has spiritual powers and she is a mixed breed!” she said excitedly.

“Her cousin?” he said.

“Hai!” she said.

“Get her please!” he said.

Asuna concentrated on Touga and found him to be heading toward Edo. She smiled at Tekeshi and she ported to the current Western Lord.

“She will be expecting us. I want to see if she can summon someone here. That would take much magic.” Augusta said to him as they went into the forest that would be Inuyasha's someday.

Augusta flared her yoki and she smiled when a door appeared. Touga looked amazed and they went to the door and it opened for them. They entered and there sat Tamiko already mixing a brew.

“I am glad you found me Lady Augusta. Greetings Inu no Taisho.” Tamiko stood and bowed.

“You two know each other?” Touga asked surprised.

“Hai my lord; in a way. I have seen your request and I have started. Will she be able to handle a sudden disappearance?” the witch asked.

“Hai. She may be a little mouthy but nothing I cannot handle.” Augusta said with a smile.

“She is your child in a manner of speaking?” she asked.

“Hai. You will need my blood to summon her?” Augusta asked.

“The Taisho also.” She said handing the uppyr a knife.

Touga looked at Augusta and she motioned for his wrist. He handed it to her and she cut swiftly and dripped it into the brew. She repeated the process with her own wrist and the pot was boiling. Tamiko was chanting and the air changed dramatically and winds seemed to roar and Tamiko stopped. Cursing could be heard outside and Tamiko jumped up surprised.

“That is Akemi.” Augusta said jumping up and went out of the door.

“Oh my Kamis Aunt Gusta what the hell just happened?” Akemi yelled.

“Asuna needs you.” Augusta said.

“What has happened now?” Akemi asked.

Her blue eyes widened when the current Western Lord appeared and her jaw dropped.

“Oh holy shit! Are you? Is that? Oh my Kamis.” Akemi said flabbergasted.

“Darling calm down.” Augusta said putting a hand on her shoulder.

“Who are you?” Touga asked.

“Aunt Augusta?” Akemi asked for guidance.

“My Lord this is Akemi. She is your grandpup.” Augusta said.

Akemi looked at the Taisho and he looked at her; he was perusing her with obvious interest.

“Who does she belong to?” Touga asked.

“Your youngest son.” Akemi offered.

“Excuse me?” Touga asked.

“You have another son.” Augusta said.

“Well then. We need to see to Asuna.” He said.

“Tamiko are you well?” Augusta asked.

“I need to rest is all my Lady. When you have the need you know where I am.” Tamiko stood and bowed.

“Thank you!” Augusta said.

The three left the dwelling and the door disappeared and Akemi whistled.

“Now that is some serious magic. What is wrong with Suna?” Akemi asked.

“When we reach the palace I will explain.” Augusta said.

Akemi looked at the Taisho and was almost in awe. Touga was actually nervous it seemed.

“Lord Touga she is really quite harmless.” Augusta said amused.

“What of this son? I do not have another pup with Natsumi?” he said with distaste.

Akemi burst out laughing and shook her head no. Her blues were mischievous and Augusta wondered if Akemi was indeed Izayoi.

“You fall madly in love with someone else and you produce my father.” Akemi said.

“You are not full youki?” he asked looking at her.

“No I am not. My mother is a miko.” She said looking at her grandsire.

“Touga we will tell you but I think it will be necessary to take a potion to forget some.” Augusta said.

“Okay so what is the big secret?” Touga asked.

“My father is a hanyou.” Akemi said.

Touga's face was obviously shocked and surprised. He looked at Akemi and could not deny the family connection.

“Why would I mate a ningen?” he asked.

“Because she is ends up being drop dead gorgeous and she loves you more than anything?” Akemi said sarcasticlly.

“A ningen?” he asked still in shock.

“My Lord may I speak frankly?” Augusta said.

“Hai.” He nodded.

“Do you not think that anyone would be better than Natsumi?” Augusta commented.

“Point taken.” He said.

“I have heard about her Aunt Augusta but is she really that bad?” Akemi asked as they moved along.

“Hai. Think about the stories of your uncle and multiply that by a thousand.” Augusta said in a serious tone.

“NO.” Akemi said scandalized.

“Hai.” Augusta nodded.

“What about my pup?” he said seriously.

“Let us say that my mate in his earlier years was rather cold and deadly.” Augusta said.

“Well then please tell me no more. Except how many grandpups do I have? He asked.

“Seven.” Akemi piped in.

“Well my sons seem to care for their mates.” Touga said in a small voice.

“Lord Touga can I take your arm? I have a wish to get us there quickly.” Augusta asked.

“Hai.” He said.

Augusta took Touga and Akemi's arms and teleported them both to the palace. They appeared in the study.

“By the way, I told Natsumi that you, Tekeshi, and I were all lovers.” Augusta said smirking.

Akemi and Touga burst out laughing. Touga led the way and they made it his quarters. The guard openly admired Akemi and she smiled flirtatiously. Touga growled and the guard turned his head. The three went in and Tekeshi looked up. He noticed the blue eyed and silver haired female. She went to Asuna's side and took her hand.

“She is stirring.” Akemi said.

“Akemi?” Asuna asked in an exhausted voice.

“Hai Suna I am here. What has happened?” she asked.

“Pupped. I am being purified.” She said as she fell back asleep.

“Who pupped her?” Akemi asked.

“I did.” Tekeshi admitted.

“Shit! Jin and Naraku are going to blow a gasket.” Akemi said.

“We all do not understand your mother's expressions my darling.” Augusta said.

“Jin and Naraku are gonna be pissed!” Akemi rephrased.

“It cannot be helped at the moment.” Augusta said.

“You have a holy person in your background?” Akemi asked Tekeshi.

“Hai. My great grandmere was a miko.” He said.

“Must have been a pretty powerful miko; only my mother and Midoriko had that kind of holy power.” Akemi said.

“I have no idea. All I know is that it is because of me that she is dying.” Tekeshi said in a worried tone.

“Aunt Gusta is that who I think it is?” Akemi asked her aunt.

“Hai.” She said.

“Ok the miko blood of the pup is purifying Asuna's blood.” Akemi said.

“Hai. What do you think?” Augusta asked.

“A blood transfusion.” Akemi offered.

“How?” Augusta asked.

The two male inu looked at each other lost to the conversation.

“Well Asuna's blood is youki. Could we not just drain her and give her mine?” Akemi thought.

“It should work but what about later on in the pregnancy?” Augusta said.

“Well we give her `transfusions' as much as she seems to need them.” Akemi said.

“Excuse me but when you say drain her you mean drink her blood?” Tekeshi asked.

“Hai what else?” Augusta asked.

“That seems unnatural.” Touga said.

“Asuna is half of what I am Lord Touga.” Augusta said flatly.

“Alright.” He said putting his hands up.

“You two need to step out.” Augusta ordered.

“I wish to stay.” Tekeshi said.

“You will find it difficult to watch.” Augusta said.

“My Lady I swear to every Kami that I love her.” Tekeshi said quietly.

“Lord Touga you may go.” Augusta said firmly.

“You forget yourself.” Touga growled.

“My Lord forgive me but it is you who forgets himself. I am royalty and she is my daughter.” Augusta said firmly.

“I will be in the study!” he snapped.

Tekeshi watched as his friend left and watched as Akemi moved Asuna's hair and her head to the side.

“Do you wish to do it or should I?” Akemi asked.

“You should.” She remarked.

Tekeshi looked apprehensive as Akemi lowered her fangs and sank them into her jugular vein. The black inu lord tensed up but said nothing. Akemi drank for awhile and Asuna looked very dusky. She pulled back then opened her cousin's mouth and she cut her own wrist with a claw. Tekeshi watched and Asuna's eyes opened and she took in the blood. Her eyes moved over to Tekeshi and she closed them.

“She is ok?” He asked.

“I told her what we were doing pathiclly.” She murmured.

“How can I let her go?” he asked.

“I have no answers my Lord.” She said.

Akemi pulled back and moved and lay next to her cousin; she hugged her form and both females slept.

“We are a fairly close family.” Augusta remarked.

“I think a lot must have to do with your influence.” He said.

“Maybe. Come let us let them rest.” She rose.

She quietly left the chambers followed by Tekeshi. She sweetly walked up to guard and smiled. The guard obviously was nervous.

“Could you please make sure that the Western Lady does not set on toe near those chambers please?” Augusta asked.

“Hai my Lady!” he said bowing.

“Thank you.” She said and went in the direction of the study.

Tekeshi followed and looked in total despair. Augusta put a hand on his arm and smiled.

“She is strong. Her brother and her were both born premature and were quite healthy.” Augusta said.

“I believe that; I am tearing my insides apart because I cannot see my pup grow. I thought I was careful of her. I did not want to complicate her life.” He lamented.

“Fate has a plan my Lord. There are reasons for all things and you need to believe that.” She said.

“Tell me of this Naraku.” He said.

“He was Hisashi.” She said.

“She told me.” He said looking away.

“Naraku is not as kind hearted as Hisashi was. He is a hanyou and his creation was most unusual. My mate and he hate one another and so does Inuyasha. There were things that happened before Asuna was born that were terrible. Naraku lusted after a very powerful object and he made many lives miserable.” She said.

“How did Asuna come to know him then?” he asked surprised.

“Asuna can astral project herself. For us it was into the past and she met him by what we thought was chance. There was a creature after her that killed her first pup. This creature was a shape shifter like Naraku. When Asuna met him she took the idea into her head to train with him to defeat the Chinese youki that was after her. Naraku is quite intelligent and he led her to the truth of her then mate's betrayal.” Augusta said.

“You mean my son.” Tekeshi said.

“Hai. I see she has told you a lot.” Augusta said.

“Hai but I too am intelligent. I could sense her emotions and I forced the truth from her.” Tekeshi said.

“Katashi is not evil he is just thoughtless at times. They have actually become friends after everything. I do not know how he will react to her carrying his sibling.” She said.

“He has to know. She said she touched my fang. It felt the pup within her womb.” He stated.

“Hai. Knowing her she went to your family shrine and paid her respects to you.” She remarked.

Tekeshi looked stunned and she felt his ire rise. He was having a very difficult time dealing with the news of his child and losing the onna he loved.

“I am going to need to forget in order to deal with this. I cannot handle the idea of never seeing her again or not knowing my pup.” He said distantly.

“That sounds wise my Lord.” She said gently.

They entered the study and sat down in front of the Taisho. Touga eyed his future daughter in law and admired her and also wanted to smack her for impertinence.

“My Lord shall I teach you to shield because frankly you are obnoxious.” Augusta said sweetly.

“I swear if you did not belong to my son you would belong to me.” Touga said.

“So you could punish me?” she asked.

“Hai.” He responded.

“Well I promise that I bite.” She said sarcasticlly.

Touga grumbled and thought about his sister/grandpup. Augusta looked at him and he growled at her.

“Right now she is fine and why were you also thinking about Ryukotsusei and kiang shi?” she asked.

“Onna stay out of my head!” he snapped.

“Answer the question.” She retorted.

“It seems there are foreign youki on our soil and they seemed to have become allies with the Dragon Clan.” He said.

“I need to see them.” She demanded.

“Why?” he retorted.

“Because if he is here then you are in trouble. I have never heard of the uppyr from Europe being here before my era.” She said.

“Maybe you just never knew. How old are you anyway.” Touga asked.

“Older than you are now.” She replied.

“You are making me angry.” He snapped.

“Am I supposed to be afraid of you? I promise that I am not.” Augusta snapped back.

“How old are you!” he growled.

“I am over five centuries.” She replied.

“You are strong amongst your kind?” he asked.

“Very.” She remarked.

“Then we shall go on reconnaissance mission.” He said.

“Tekeshi will you stay with Asuna and Akemi?” she asked.

“Hai.” He responded.

“Then my Lord lead the way.” Augusta said.
