Reckonings
I stood in front of Tekeshi and Naraku and watched them as if they had lost their minds. They sat drinking tea and speaking as if old friends. I looked from one then the other and shook my head.
“You both have lost it.” I said to them.
“No we are forward thinking.” Tekeshi said smirking.
“I concur my little inu. I for one am tired of hiding.” Naraku answered.
“I cannot believe this.” I stated.
“I am not suggesting that we all have an orgy. I am suggesting we dwell in one place. I travel quite often as you do aijou. Why should Naraku sit and waste away up here when he has always been slated for greatness?” Tekeshi asked bluntly.
“I had not thought on that way.” I replied.
“Besides our pup should know Mizuki and grow up with her. The twins should be with their sister.” He replied.
“This just seems so odd.” I said stubbornly.
“Why should it? You sire changed the political landscape by installing you as the heir to the West. Why should you continue to fight who and what you are?” Tekeshi pointed out.
“Think of it as a very strong alliance my inu. You know I always will make alliances that benefit me but in this case it benefits all of us.” Naraku said evenly.
“I cannot think on this right now.” I said rubbing my temples.
“Why should we getting along be a bad thing?” Tekeshi asked.
“It is not. It just reminds me that I am uppyr and I hate it.” I said walking away.
Naraku stood and followed me out of the room. He grabbed my shoulders and turned me to him. He lifted my chin and made me look at him.
“I have told you that you need to accept yourself, I have for some time. This is beneath you to feel that you are dirty. Our whole coming together has wrought about uncomfortable changes in us both. I will never be on great terms with certain members of your family but Mizuki deserves to grow up with her siblings just as you did.” He stated.
“You do not think it odd?” I asked quietly.
“I thought it odd when you started projecting to me a century before. If you have not figured out; I will not be exiting your life. The one thing that Hisashi's memories have taught me is that forward thinking was a strength of his and mine. You need to give this a chance before you dismiss it.” He replied.
“You are intent upon it?” I asked him
“Hai. I am intent upon it. I can respect him because he is intent upon seeing you happy.” He replied.
“You have changed.” I said softly.
“So have you.” He replied pulling me to him and kissing me.
I pulled away and shook my head. Tekeshi came to the hallway and nodded at us. I stared at them both and had a feeling that the two of them would be excellent friends.
“I have things that need attending. Naraku my friend I would like to discuss our plan of actions in the areas we discussed.” Tekeshi said.
“I am at your disposal Lord Tekeshi.” Naraku said bowing.
“Very good. I shall see you both very soon. I love you aijou and good to finally meet you Lord Naraku.” Tekeshi bowed.
He ported himself away and I stared up at my hanyou mate and he had a ghost of a smile.
“What amuses you?” I asked.
“I get to have a real life with you and our daughter. I am going to enjoy these turn of events.” He said.
“I need to attend to Akemi.” I replied.
“Hai I know. I cannot imagine that Ryukotsusei should be revived.” He thought aloud.
“I wonder. According to his brother he just accepted his own demise.” I said.
“History says that the dragon was uncommonly intelligent and powerful.” He remarked.
“History says the same of you.” I pointed out.
“Hn.” He muttered.
“Akemi is miserable.” I said softly.
“The sons of the Taisho produced females of unusual strength my pet. She does not seem to give herself credit. I barely know her but what I do know is that she possesses a very strong will and sense of honor.” He replied.
“She feels strongly for the dragon.” I muttered.
“Then perhaps a visit to the witch is in order?” he asked.
“I do not think that is what she wishes.” I said.
“Let me get Mikato to see to Mizuki. I shall take you to the village.” He said.
He went to our private chambers and came back a few minutes later. He gathered me in his arms and we disappeared into the miasma only to appear near Edo. His gaze was in the direction of the infamous cave. I turned his head towards mine and smiled up at him.
“That is long past.” I whispered.
“Hai but it does not hurt to remember.” He replied.
“Thank you.” I replied.
“Tell your uncle I said hello.” He said sarcasticlly.
“Naraku!” I snapped.
“Come back to me soon my pet.” He replied and disappeared.
I shook my head and went in the direction of the village. I went to the two story dwelling and knocked on the frame. Kagome came to the door and she wore a worried expression. One of the twins Jirou was standing near his father. Jirou had the raven hair of Kagome and the amber eyes of his father. He was taller than Inuyasha and wore the uniform of a taijiya. I did not dislike my male cousins; I simply did not know them well. I noticed his black hair had been tied up and it must be long. He appraised me coolly and I stared at him with my own gold-brown eyes.
“Suna honey Akemi is not doing well.” Kagome said.
“Can you explain to me why Jirou is staring at me in such a hateful manner?” I asked raising a brow.
“Because my sister is sick unto death and she always seemed to find trouble because of you.” He said in a nasty tone.
“Aunt Kagome, I believe it prudent to move Akemi back to the palace. You Jirou are a disgrace to this family.” I said narrowing my eyes.
“So says a Western hussy.” He snapped.
“Stop it!” Kagome yelled.
“Pardon me.” I said moving to Akemi's room.
Jirou grabbed my arm and my eyes flashed red in anger.
“Unhand me or you will pull back a bloody stump.” I growled.
“She will say nothing. She lays there and says nothing. She cannot eat and is wasting away.” He said in a menacing tone.
“Akemi is her own youki and yes she is youki now. She is a member of the Western house and has no need to explain to you or me for that matter.” I replied.
“You always have been an uppity bitch.” He snapped.
“You have always been a disgrace.” I snapped back.
I pulled my arm away and went into Akemi's room. I picked her up and moved away.
“Asuna honey why are you taking her?” Kagome asked concerned.
“To save her. She has not the will to save herself right now.” I said and I moved from the house.
I met my uncle outside and he actually nodded his thanks to me. I inclined my head and Jirou came out in a fury.
“Father do not let her take Akemi!” he shouted.
“Listen son she can help her. We haven't done a thing to help her maybe Suna can.” He replied.
“I am coming to the West and I want to see my sister better.” He demanded.
“You would be lucky of you made it to the gate.” I snarled.
I transformed into my sphere and left. I had no idea that my cousin had disliked me so soundly. I supposed it was because I was full youki. I transformed us back at the castle near Edo. She stirred in my arms and I looked down at her.
“I am taking you back to him.” I said.
“No Asuna.” She said barely inaudible.
“You are wasting away because you love him.” I said wanting to shake her.
“Hai I do but I love Daichi too.” She said sadly.
“You have become part uppyr Akemi; he knew what you were becoming. He loves you and has no understanding why you are wasting away.” I said to her.
“I cannot do this.” She said sobbing.
“I am taking you back.” I said firmly.
“To what? Take me back knowing damn well that he dies by the Back Lash Wave?” she cried.
“You feel guilt for what others do. You are not your father Akemi.” I stated.
She turned her head into my haori and sobbed more. I moved and called for Naraku. He came and was surprised at the scene.
“I need you to take me to the North. I am taking your advice and returning to the dragon.” I said.
“Hai it would seem wise.” He said taking us into the miasma.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
I sat with Tamiko and she had given Akemi a sleeping draught. She looked over her and shook her head.
“There is no other way Lady Asuna. She will waste away and die if you do not return her. You need to bring her and then return.” She stated.
“You want me to leave her?” I asked.
“Hai. I will find her when the time is upon her.” She said to me.
I trusted this ningen more than I thought possible. I nodded and she handed me an amulet.
“You will enter near the castle of the dragons. Use that one to return. Some time will have past. I can create this amulets but not control the destination.” She informed me.
“Hai.” I replied.
She broke her amulet and I saw the portal. I entered it and I recognized the dragon's castle. I put my head up and moved forward with my cousin in my arms. There was a dragon that stood guard and he glared at me with undisguised hatred.
“I need to see Lord Ryukotsusei. Please inform him that it concerns the Lady Akemi.” I said.
“Inu whore!” he muttered as he left.
I rolled my eyes at the dragon's back and I felt malice and I stood my ground. Ryukotsusei emerged from the castle and the look of utter shock was displayed on his face. He moved towards me and I held onto Akemi tightly.
“How?” he asked in disbelief.
“It matters not. I have to entrust her to you or she will die.” I stated softly.
He took her slight form from my arms and stared down at her with such passion and concern that I knew I had made the right move.
“She is sleeping for now. I cannot stay.” I said moving away.
“What is wrong with her?” he asked.
“You need to speak with your mate yourself.” I said and walked into the tree line.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Ryukotsusei looked down at the sleeping Akemi in his arms. It had been several years since she had walked away. He had resigned himself to never seeing her again yet here she was. She looked pale and thin. He brought her into the castle and his personal chambers. His brother Ryuu watched stunned to see the tiny onna again. He followed his brother into the chambers and watched as she was placed upon the futon.
“What is wrong with her?” he asked.
“I have no idea. The female inu would not tell me.” Ryukotsusei replied.
“She is tiny brother. I had not realized how petite she was.” Ryuu stated.
“She may be petite but she has a tremendous amount of yoki and spiritual power.” The dragon lord said softly.
“I will leave you to her and send in the healer.” Ryuu said leaving.
Ryukotsusei watched her chest rise and fall and he heard the healer enter.
“She looks very unwell.” He stated helplessly.
“She carries a babe my Lord.” She stated as she looked over Akemi.
Jealousy twisted his gut; he managed to keep a calm face. He could not understand the inu bitch in bringing her here. She did look unwell for an onna carrying though. He sighed and sat by her.
“When will she give birth?” he asked.
“In the early spring. She is the same onna from the camp several years ago my Lord?” the healer asked in disbelief.
“Hai she is, why?” he asked in return.
“Her leg has not been healed long. It must have been broken again recently.” She said shrugging.
Realization struck him and he looked down at her. She had been returned to him because she carried his babe. He kept a calm demeanor but his mind was racing. She was ashen and he looked up at the healer.
“She does not take food like a normal youki. She had been turned into a blood drinker.” He remarked.
“She must not be keeping her food down. I will prepare a draught that should calm her stomach and soothe the babe. What manner of youki is she?” the healer asked.
“A very unique one.” He said.
“I see.” The healer said
He nodded as the healer left and he laid himself next to her. She was still beautiful but her face was shadowed. He decided to sleep for a little while. He placed a clawed hand on her belly and sighed.

Akemi awoke slowly in an unfamiliar environment and saw Ryukotsusei sleeping next to her. She had told Asuna not to bring her but she was glad that her cousin ignored her. She rolled to her side and leaned forward and kissed his lips softly. He still slept and she pressed her lips with more pressure against his. He opened his eyes and pulled her closer to him. She sighed softly as his tongue swept into her mouth. He reined himself in from devouring her and pulled back from her soft lips. Tears dampened her cheeks and he wiped them away.
“It has not been that long since you saw me last.” He commented softly.
“Not quite a month.” She responded.
“You carry my babe.” He stated.
“Hai.” She whispered.
“Stay with me this time.” He demanded quietly.
“Ryukotsusei.” She said softly.
“You carry my babe. Your cousin referred to you as my mate.” He said stubbornly.
“I cannot watch you die, do you understand that?” she asked in a horrified voice.
“I also understand that to be centuries away.” He said in an angry tone.
“You resign yourself to death?” she asked
“Some things are fated Akemi. If you ask do I want to die then the answer is no. I also have no wish to live on knowing that you are here now and you leave again.” He said sitting up.
“I am sick. I cannot hold my food down.” She said looking away.
“Dragon births are difficult even for dragon onna. It is best you came back.” He said stiffly.
“I love you!” she burst into sobs again.
He sat down by her and held her as she sobbed into his haori.
“Loving me brings you such sorrow?” he asked in a hurt tone.
“You are an idiot!” she cried.
“You are not making much sense.” He said confused.
“I am pregnant I am not supposed to make much sense to you.” She said.
“Okay.” He said bewildered.
“Damnit I am hungry.” She lamented.
“Akemi my healer will have a draught ready soon. It should help ease your symptoms.” He said kneading her back muscles.
“Kamis keep doing that please.” She moaned.
The Dragon Lord's head spun with her emotional overload. He was a famed warrior but had a hard time keeping up with one tiny onna. He continued to knead her back muscles and she moaned more as if she was in heaven.
“Where did you learn to give such heavenly massages?” she groaned.
He actually chuckled and continued on until the healer came back. She noticed that the young onna was awake. Akemi sat up and greedily drained the brew and handed it back. She noticed that the female was eyeing her lord like he was prey and she decided to vacate the chambers.
“Will you let me taste you? I am starving.” She said.
“Hai.” He said.
She was on him in an instant and sank her fangs into his neck. He moaned loudly under her assault. She drank deeply and then pulled away after several minutes. She laid on the futon and she felt better than she had in almost a month. He looked down at her and she smiled sweetly at him.
“Is it better?” he asked softly.
“Hai.” She said with a soft smile.
“Very good.” He said standing.
“Where are you going?” she asked sitting up.
“Akemi you need some rest.” He said.
“Make love to me.” She demanded.
“Onna I cannot keep up with you!” he growled.
She sat up on her knees and started undressing him. He looked down at her and sighed in frustration. She looked up at him through her silver lashes and started nipping at his abdominal muscles.
“I do want to stay but there are issues.” She said running her tongue along his muscles.
“Akemi I wish you to rest for now.” He said holding her chin up.
“I have been lying down for nearly a month. Show me your castle if you will not indulge me.” She pouted.
He helped her up and she seemed better for now. She was dressed in a light summer yukata that came to her calf. It was simple but elegant. Her hair spilled down her back and she was barefoot. She fell in step behind him and looked around. She could hear the surf not far away. She remembered her visit to the castle in her era and it was a stone's throw from the shore line. It made sense because Ryukotsusei was a water dragon youki. She grabbed his hand and went toward the sound of the surf.
“Akemi!” he exclaimed.
“How often do you go to the shore and just sit?” she asked.
“What?” he asked.
“Come follow me.” She said stepping down steps and running through the palm trees.
She wandered and followed the sound of the crashing waves with the dragon lord in tow. She made it the shore. Sheer rock faces and outcroppings jutted into the water. She turned and watched him. The winds were blowing against them and he truly seemed at home. She sat on a flat rock and watched the waves. He moved and sat next to her.
“I have not come here in a long time.” He murmured.
“The palace is landlocked and so is Edo. This is beautiful.” She commented.
“What are you thinking Akemi?” he asked.
“I am not really thinking my Lord. Your blood is powerful that is why I am stronger.” She said.
“I am relieved.” He said.
“Ryukotsusei I did not think I could have this babe. I have been frightened and alone.” She remarked.
“Do you still feel this way?” he asked watching her.
“I do not know.” She muttered.
“I find it hard to accept that feeling for me or carrying my offspring makes you feel so miserable.” He said in a temper.
“Grow up! Things are not cut and dry. You cannot exactly say this situation is normal.” She snapped.
“Akemi I have to regroup and prepare for war. I have taken a brief respite but things need my attention.” He said in a cold voice.
“You find it hard that I speak my mind.” She observed.
“I find it much easier to just not deal with the emotions you invoke in me. Maybe you should do the same.” He said turning to leave.
“Anger and Mayhem are better? You go prepare for another incursion against whoever is your enemy this time. I have been honest with that I do not know how to handle this and I have been sick. What makes me miserable is that you cannot see past your own sphere. You and I have a beautiful thing but it is breaking my heart that we are doomed.” She said keeping her tears in.
“I have touched no other and will not touch another. If you see us as doomed then you need to move on.” He stated tonelessly.
“Self righteous bastard.” She growled.
“Excuse me?” he turned and glared at her.
“Hai you are being self righteous. Congratulations you are not a male whore. You would rather be one of those that run around espousing crap like at least I will have honor. Congratufuckinglations!” She snarled.
He stared at her and she stood. He was actually dumbfounded as she stripped her yukata and waded into the water. She was comely and she very naked. There were different creatures that inhabited this part of the islands that would love to take her.
“Akemi!” he called after her.
She put a hand up to her ear as if she could not hear him. He growled fiercely and wondered if being mated was worth the damn aggravation. He stripped down to his hakamas and followed after her. He waded into the water and sighed; his true form was much better in the ocean. He caught up to her and turned her around.
“I am not the only water creature in this part of the islands.” He said angry.
“I could purify any youki I would need to.” She snapped.
“Have you thought that using your spiritual powers might hurt our babe?” he asked quietly.
The waves carried them a little and he wrapped his arms around her. She actually was considering what he said he realized.
“What other creatures are there?” she asked.
“There are lesser dragons that inhabit these waters and sea youki. We do not see them often because they are water dwelling. It does not mean they are any less brutal.” He stated.
“Would the big bad Ryukotsusei protect me?” she asked in a sultry tone.
His arms were wrapped around her waist and reeled at her change in tone. He bent his head down and licked along her juncture. He moaned at her unbridled lust; her desire could be tasted upon her skin.
“Akemi let us move away.” He said softly.
“Would you protect me?” she asked ignoring his request.
“That is asinine question.” He said.
“Perhaps it is. Answer it then.” She stated firmly.
“Hai I will always protect you when you are near me.” He replied.
“Hmmm well I suppose I will have to heed your warnings.” She said pulling away and moving towards shore.
The dragon lord followed and but he felt something reach around his leg. He rolled his eyes and reached down and released his Raigekidan onto the appendage and he heard a high pitched screech. He was released and he emerged onto the rocks. Akemi watched him and smiled up at him.
“I think you need to sit here and let your hakamas dry, they leave very little to the imagination.” She remarked leering at his form.
He looked exasperated and sat down. She moved between his legs and pushed him back. She stared down at him as she touched him through the wet silk.
“Are you always this lustful?” he asked as she started nipping his neck.
“Hai.” She murmured.
“Akemi you are highly emotional right now.” He responded.
“Please quit talking. I do not want to hear anymore about anything until you are thrusting in me.” She said bluntly.
“This is where you use me for gratification?” he said annoyed.
“You are the only male that I have heard complain when his onna wants to rut.” She snapped.
“I do when you act unstable.” He snapped back.
“Bastard!” she snarled.
She ripped through his stays and pulled down the drenched silk. He was aroused already and she lowered her lips and sucked on the head of his staff. He snarled at the intense feeling as she took as much as she could into her mouth. His eyes fluttered shut and fought the urge to thrust. She created tightness as she moved up and down.
“Akemi!” he moaned.
She quickened the pace of her swirling her tongue and sucking. His eyes opened and they were scarlet. She brushed the back of her hand along his sack and he growled. She continued to lavish her attention and he thrust into her mouth. She growled lightly and he almost came undone. She grasped his sack and massaged it delicately. His thrusting increased and his growling grew louder. She growled again as her pace was quick and he stiffened as he roared his release. He physically spasmed as she licked him and evidence of his climax gone. He laid his head down and stared at the sky. She moved up his body and stared down at him.
“I have desired your touch and your company. Those feelings have warred with my responsibility to my family. Loving you does not make me miserable my conflict does.” She remarked in a soft tone.
“Why does it have to be a conflict?” he asked.
She had started stroking him and he was losing all coherent thought. She moved and straddled his hips. She pressed her chest to his and lazily kissed him. She made him dizzy with her almost shy nature mixed with such passion and lust. He mused that he would not be planning any battles this day. Akemi firmly held him and she lowered herself onto his staff. She cried out and his breathing quickened. Ryukotsusei grabbed her hips and moved quickly within her. Akemi watched him and lost herself in the feeling of their joining.
“I will stay.” She gasped.
His eyes flew open at her declaration and he was stunned. Their eyes were locked and the air changed between them. He sat up and she locked lips with him. His hands were still on her hips as they moved. She pulled away from his lips and cried out. They were moving against the other at a more frantic rate. Akemi bit her bottom lip to stop herself from taking his blood; she wanted him to climax on his own. She reached between them and grazed her own nub and moaned between the sensations. Her claws gouged his skin of his shoulder and he growled. She felt herself approaching her own orgasm and gave into her desire for his blood. She leaned forward and bit into his shoulder with force. The dragon grunted in pain but then moaned loudly at the sensations of euphoria took. His hazed mind registered the fact that she had marked him in return. Her warmth spread over him and he thrust harder into her until an overwhelming climax took him. He felt her come as well. He was exhausted and slowly laid onto his back again. She pressed herself against his chest and listened to his wildly beating heart. Akemi imagined that he was a sight on a battlefield. He was magnificent beneath her. She could feel his exhaustion and her hunger had returned. She groaned and hated the fact that she would need more of the draught to be able to feed. She got up slowly and settled next to him.
“I have not said that I love you but I do.” He mumbled.
“I know. You did not have to speak it. Your actions spoke for you.” She replied softly.
“I really do not want to move but this truly is not the safest place to be.” He groaned.
“Your hakamas have dried some.” She said with a smirk.
“I was supposed to be leaving this day on campaign.” He said absently.
“I want you to stay here and be with me.” She pouted.
He sat up slowly and nodded. He would have delivered her the whole of the islands if she requested. She reached for her yukata and pulled it on. She handed him his kosode and haori.
“What dangers truly exist out here?” she asked.
“There have been sightings of youki that take on a humanoid form but live in the water. I have never seen it but there have been missing young as well as weaker dragons.” He replied.
“You do not come here often then.” She said standing.
“No I do not. I have been fighting the West for so long.” He remarked.
“Why not stop for awhile?” she asked.
“Do you know why my father attacked Lord Akinori in the first place?” he asked her.
“No.” she replied.
“Your great grandsire took it upon himself to decimate two villages of dragons. They were mostly onna and younglings. He said they harbored assassins amongst them but in truth he wanted the land. I believe the West now calls the area Kyoto.” He said in a soft voice.
“I did not know. Much history has been lost to the hatred. You hate Touga and he you. I love you; I do not see Ryukotsusei the Lord of the Dragons. I see a beloved friend and lover.” She said touching his cheek.
He closed his eyes at her small speech and reveled in her presence. He had loved this onna for the past several years and she was finally by his side. He still found it hard to believe she was related to the Western Inu. He pulled her to him in a hug and rested his chin on her head.
“You have been mistreated in the past as well as your own sire.” He commented.
“Hai. My mother would heal a youki as soon as she would a ningen.” She replied.
“That is where you get the tolerance from.” He replied wistfully.
“Asuna is that way too Ryukotsusei. She fell in love with her own sire's bitterest enemy.” She remarked.
“Why?” he asked surprised.
“Because it was fate.” She answered softly.
“You do wish to have this babe?” he asked her.
“I am terrified. I saw Asuna pregnant and I must say it does frighten me. When she birthed Mizuki someone slipped her belladonna. Mind you that she is immune to most poisons. They had to cut the pup from her womb.” She remarked with a shudder.
“Have you seen my yoki energy?” he asked sinisterly.
“Hai.” She answered.
“I will slowly gut anything if they would even think to harm you.” He said forcefully.
“Alright I suppose.” She said.
“I will not lie our pregnancies are slightly longer and I understand the labors are long and intense. Most dragon onnas only have one or two offspring.” He said.
“Great just great. My mother can make some awesome pain killers.” She muttered.
He looked at her and smiled down at her. She smiled up at him too then it was replaced by a very serious expression.
“I do not want you going to war for now. I want you here and I want you to myself.” She said frowning.
“I cannot say how long I can stay with any certainty.” He replied lifting her chin.
“Send emissaries if need be. If I have to endure a rough pregnancy then you are going to suffer right along with me.” She said looking at him.
“Akemi please be reasonable.” He said annoyed.
“I am being reasonable. I was protecting myself against this very thing and here I am carrying your offspring. The least you can do is stay and rub my back when I need you to.” She said with a shrug.
He laughed aloud and smirked down at her.
“You are a massage slut are you not?” he said with a smirk.
“Hai very much so. When I am big and round with fat ankles you can make me feel better and tell yourself that you wanted this very bitchy bitch.” She said slyly.
“I will postpone my campaigns till after you give birth.” He said laughing.
“Good. Now show me your castle.” She demanded.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Naraku could actually wield my fang. It was as I suspected and the infusion of his own had created dual ownership it seemed. He was utterly pleased and fascinated with the idea of focusing his yoki through a weapon.
“You are releasing the wave quite easily.” I said in awe.
“Well you did show me in your memories how.” He said.
“I am well pleased. I do have a need to return to the Western Palace though.” I said moving closer to him.
“Well then by all means go and come back.” He said smirking.
“I need my fang.” I said coming within inches of his face.
“Hmmm well my little inu you shall have to take it from me.” He stated in mock coldness.
“What shall I do hanyou?” I asked in a haughty voice.
He smirked at me and I pressed myself against him. I gently fondled him through his hakamas. He eyed me and I smiled. He handed me the fang and ghosted his lips across mine. I held his chin and moaned.
“I need to go. Kamis I will never tire of your touch.” I moaned.
“Good. Think of all the ways I will torture you when I get you alone. You know I enjoy torturing you.” He said in a very deep voice.
“Alright I need to go.” I said pulling away and a chill went down my spine.
“See you soon.” He said taking my hand and kissing it.
I shut my eyes and slowly backed up from him. I bowed to him and went out of the castle. I sheathed my fang and moved on. I turned into my sphere and moved along swiftly. It took me the standard almost two days. When I made it to the Western border I turned back into my humanoid form and moved the rest of the way on foot. It was the middle of summer and rather hot outside. I thought about finding a cold brook or stream and dunking my heated body. I made it to the Western Palace and went to the study. My father was seated and he looked up. I smiled a brilliant smile and his eyes seemed to light up. I had not been cheerful in so long.
“You are well. You are actually happy.” He commented.
“Hai my Lord.” I said bowing.
“Jin has brought the twins but he left quickly. I am unsure what the problem was.” He said looking at me.
My eyes widened and I wondered if Tekeshi would have already moved to take Sheng's remains back. I scowled and stood.
“I know that look.” He said.
“Hai my Lord. I may know what the problem is.” I stated.
“What is going on?” he asked.
“Someone from China may be making a move against Panyu.” I said.
“Should we send troops?” he asked me.
“Not yet. I am going to ask mother to take me.” I said moving to leave.
“Let me know if they will need our aid.” He commanded.
“Hai my Lord.” I said bowing.
“I went next door and my mother was already stepping out. She looked at me and took my arm. We teleported to Guangzhou and she stayed with me for a moment. I moved to the palace and she followed. Jin came out and saw me and looked relieved.
“What is going on?” I asked.
“Several outlying villages have been attacked by kiang shi. They have been laid to waste.” He said in a controlled fury.
“I shall mobilize the West.” I said turning.
“Asuna I do not want you here. If they attacking then they may be looking for you.” He said.
“Jin I will not cower and let your people die.” I snapped.
“I will not allow another fucking blood drinker lay another claw on you.” He snarled.
I could see that my kidnapping had affected him badly. I had not been fair to him and I was ashamed of myself.
“I will mobilize the West's troops and we will hunt them down together. I owe this to you.” I said calmly.
“Some of them are not Asian Asuna. Some of them are of European descent.” He replied.
“I understand. I also understand that Panyu and the West are allies.” I said flatly.
“Go then. Bring the troops as soon as possible.” He said bowing.
“Hai.” I said.
My mother grabbed my arm and we ported back to the Palace. It would take several days for the troops to arrive but I could go on ahead. I went to my father's study and I nodded to him. He stood and went to move to the barracks.
“I will get Yuudai.” I said.
“Hai.” My father responded.
I went to the southern most compound that housed the officers in our army. Yuudai had a study also that served as his command post. I knocked on the door frame and he called enter.
I walked in and he stood up in haste. He bowed and I returned it.
“There is a group of uppyr that are attacking and pillaging villages in Panyu. I need you to have the troops to Guangzhou. I would like you to leave from Nagasaki. I will arrange with the Dragon Clan for you to launch from their port.” I commanded.
“Hai my Lady. The dragons?” he asked shocked.
“I have recently made the acquaintance of their Lord Ryuu. We are no longer at war Yuudai; it would do you well to remember that.” I stated flatly.
“Hai my Lady.” He said.
I left his study and went back to my chambers and changed into a black haori and hakamas. I was tying my armor in place when my father came in. I looked at him and he shook hid head no.
“Excuse me?” I asked in shock.
“You will not be going. You will be staying here and I will be going. You are a target and I know the uppyr filth will be looking for you. Your mother also informed me that you are pupped. You do not have to hide things from me.” He stated.
My father was already in full armor and his swords were at his hip and back. I stared at him angrily but I knew he was right.
“Yuudai tells me you have to arrange to have the ships launch from Nagasaki. Go and do that and stay in Japan.” He ordered.
“Hai my Lord.” I said stiffly.
“Your mother is transporting me now. You are regent in my absence.” He stated then left.
I stared at my wall then took off my armor and threw it. I was furious but I had no choice. I went to the nursery and found Mayu with the twins. I nodded for her to come and she did.
“Naraku will be here shortly. I want you to go with the twins to the Northern Castle. Things are heating up and I cannot worry about the boys.” I stated.
“Hai my Lady.” She said bowing.
I called Naraku and he appeared minutes later. He looked at me and his face was serious.
“Could you take the boys and Mayu with you to the castle?” I asked.
“What is wrong?” he asked concerned.
“I have been made regent while my father goes to battle. Panyu is being plundered by the uppyr.” I said.
“At least the mutt showed some sense!” he growled.
“Naraku! Please not now.” I said in irritation.
“I will take the boys and Mayu now. Let me know if you need me for anything else.” He stated.
“Hai I need you to take me south to the dragon's territory.” I said.
“Give me an hour.” He said.
I sighed and I thought on Akemi. I could not let things like my personal matters affect me at the moment. Although nothing had been said, we all knew that Vlad was making his move.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
I stood in front of Lord Ryuu and he was agreeing to my requests. I looked around for any sign of Akemi and found none.
“She has not been here for along time Lady Asuna. She and my brother disappeared for quite awhile until he ended up sealed by your grand sire. They had a son.” He informed me.
“She knows what she is doing.” I stated.
“She made my brother happy. I have not seen her or my nephew in centuries.” He stated.
“I understand.” I said nodding.
I knew my cousin and she was covering her tracks. It seemed she had decided to stay for some time and live out some kind of life with the dragon. She would reappear at some point. She loved Daichi and it seemed she had found a solution.
“I thank you for allowing us to move our troops from your port.” I said bowing.
“Hai Lady Asuna.” He said bowing.
I turned and then suddenly turned back and looked at Ryuu. It dawned on me that he looked a little different then I remembered.
“You are their son. They named you after your uncle.” I said in sudden understanding.
“Mother said you would figure it out.” He said grinning.
“Where is she?” I asked.
“She and the witch are up to something. She is around.” He said smiling.
“I am sorry about your father.” I said.
“Mother is still working on it. She has already returned to the neko though. She had said she will show up soon enough.” He said sitting.
“You have her playful nature.” I observed.
“Yeah it annoyed Father. She said you could be intimidating but I do not agree.” He stated.
“They were happy?” I asked.
“Hai. They were annoyingly loving. Kind of grossed me out at times.” He smiled.
“They only had you?” I asked
“I have a brother. I am not supposed to say too much. She said she would find you.” He smirked.
“That is my cousin.” I smiled back.
“So your troops will arrive soon?” he asked.
“Hai.” I replied.
“It just occurred to me that I am older than you.” He stated with mirth.
“So it would seem.” I smirked at him.
“Well Lady Asuna I hope my mother finds you soon. I welcome my family amongst my lands.” He said bowing.
I really looked at the young Ryuu and noticed that his eyes were of the palest blue and his hair was very pale silver with the blue near his roots. He was an attractive male and I smiled wide. Akemi had found her balance.
“Your father sacrificed himself for her happiness.” I commented.
“I think that is what he did but he had also gotten into a nasty altercation with the Taisho. They were happy together and that is how I grew up.” He replied.
“After this threat is over I welcome you to the Western Palace. Have you met your grandmere Kagome?” I asked.
“Actually no. I intended to when Mother said it was alright.” He said.
“I look forward to seeing my cousin again. You say she is in the Neko Kingdom?” I asked.
“Hai. I do not know all the details but I do know she was mated to the neko prince Daichi.” He said.
“Hai she is at least in this era.” I replied.
“Well Lady Asuna I am glad to have finally met you.” He said.
“I take my leave of you then.” I said bowing.
I nodded my head at my cousin and was pleased for her. She was intelligent and truly made her mark. It occurred to me that through the grandpups and great grandpups; most of Japan and parts of China would be ruled by those of Western descent. It fascinated me and I marveled. I turned into my sphere and headed north-west.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
I was in the study handling the affairs of state which I truly detested when I heard a clearing of a throat. I looked up and there was my cousin. She had barely aged and looked serene. I stood up and she came to me and hugged me tightly.
“You look wonderful.” I commented.
“Thank you!” she said bowing.
“You have returned to Daichi?” I asked.
“Hai. I do love him very much. Ryukotsusei and I planned everything carefully. He was not the one sealed for two centuries. We had a decoy but before Naraku appeared he was there. He did it behind my back. I guess he figured what we lived was worth the sacrifice.” She said a little sadly.
“He was most honorable Akemi. I cannot imagine a more selfless act than what he did for you.” I said.
“My head still reels from it all. I love him still very intensely.” She remarked.
“I am glad to see you again. Whose idea was it to fool me when I came to Nagasaki?” I asked amused.
“Ryuu's. He is a lot like Father. His uncle is still alive too. My younger son's name is Ryuunosuke. He is quiet and very calm. Ryuu is rather outgoing.” She said smiling.
“I should be glad to meet him.” I said happily.
“So you are regent; that must mean my uncle is off battling.” She commented.
“Hai. I get stuck dealing with petty squabbles and the accounts. This is the part of ruling that is odious.” I snorted.
“Well you were born to rule. You never did tell me if Tekeshi survived.” She said sitting.
“Hai he is very much alive. He and Naraku are friendly and planning all our futures.” I replied.
“That is another way of dealing with it.” She laughed.
“Hai I suppose. It is odd though.” I said shaking my head.
“Well it has been odd as you put for awhile. “ She replied with mirth.
“I suppose it has been. I am happy though.” I said with a small smile.
“How is the pup?” she asked.
“Fine since your mother infused me with her blood.” I said shrugging.
“So where is my uncle at?” she asked curiously.
“Panyu has been raided by the uppyr. Father refused to allow me to fight.” I said sighing.
“He is wise as he always is.” She said.
“It irks me not to stand with my men. I have been their commander these last twenty years. I know they follow my father obviously but I have been the one to train them.” I said annoyed.
“I know Asuna but allow your father to protect his pup. Regardless how old you are he will continue to feel responsible for you.” She said.
“When did you get so wise?” I asked smiling.
“The day I birthed Ryuu. I will tell you that was awful!” she said laughing.
“Sounds like Mizuki's birth.” I said nodding.
“Hai. Well Asuna I am off to Edo to visit my mother and break the news to her.” She said softly.
“You can still bear Daichi his offspring.” I said.
“Hai I had planned on it.” She nodded.
“I shall see you soon cousin.” I said standing and bowing.
“I thank you for taking me back. You will never know what a gift you gave me.” She said thoughtfully.
“I figured one of us should be happy.” I said smiling.
“I have been most happy.” She said with a wan smile.
Akemi bowed and left. I sat back down at the desk and sorted through the correspondence. It was a wonder that my sire ever left the study. I sighed in frustration and threw the papers down. I was going to have to go to a couple of villages and settle land disputes. Ningen were more territorial then youki were. I went to my chambers and changed into a haori and hakamas that bore the crests of the West. I growled at the idea that I had to deal with the petty crap and my father got to fight. I wrinkled my nose and put on my armor. I slid the Kumosaiga into my obi I had to go to a larger village called Toyama. The Western Palace was almost exactly halfway between Niigata and Toyama. I decided to change form and let my beast run wild for awhile. I would at least get a few hours peace and a fresh hunt.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
I sat in the village headsman's home and listened to a wealthy land owner threaten another. They were yelling over pasture rights for their beasts. I counted slowly in my head till I could handle no more.
“The more you both yell the more nothing gets accomplished. Let me see this damn piece of land.” I growled.
“Hai Lady Asuna-sama!” they both said.
I stood and followed them out the door. I walked behind and something tickled my senses. It was a youki aura and a fairly strong one. I growled fiercely and put my hand on my fang.
“Run!” I yelled to the villagers.
The ningen scrambled and I whirled around and swung my blade down. I had struck something. I fell back into a battle stance. There before me was an inu mix breed. His hair was raven and his eyes were black as night. His markings are what gave him away; this was Katashi's son.
“I finally found you bitch!” he snarled at me.
“You trespass on Western Lands boy!” I snarled right back.
“You killed my mother!” he snapped.
He drew a katana and circled me. He struck quick and I blocked with ease. He was angry and being careless. I truly had no wish to kill him but I would. He stabbed at me and I brought my fang up and pushed him back.
“I will say it again you are trespassing on Western Lands. I suggest you leave.” I snapped.
“Not until you are dead.” He snarled in a fury.
“She came after me boy! I dissolved my union with your sire. If I had known what the truth was I would not have usurped your rights.” I declared.
“You gave her a most dishonorable death. I could not even honor her!” He stated hatefully.
“She attacked me! She killed my unborn and killed innocents because she was jealous!” I replied.
“I do not care whore!” he snarled.
I rushed him and pushed him up against a tree. I had my fang at his throat and he seemed to dare me to kill him.
“I do not want to kill you but I will. You are the innocent one in the whole mess. I defended myself against your mother. She attacked me and I ended her life.” I stated.
“Do it. Murder me as you did her.” He snapped his fangs at me.
I did the only thing I could think of and I used the hilt of my fang and knocked him out cold. I could not kill such a young inu. He was younger than Youshiro and still very much a youth. I sighed as he fell to the ground. The ningen came out and I saw the two that had been arguing.
“Share the damn land. Marry your son to his daughter and that will make it a family property.” I called over my shoulder.
I watched the two men nod and I picked up Katashi's son. He was beautiful and alone. I felt for him but I was going to have to imprison him and summon his sire. I do not think that Katashi had ever met him. I honestly felt that the boy was being used for his heritage. I sighed at my duty to him. I did not even know his name.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
The young inu male had become problematic. I had imprisoned him under heavy guard and a barrier. I had found out his name was Ang Chi. He would spit and snarl my way whenever I came near the chambers. I had written Katashi and demanded he come to the West and I did not tell him why. It took the letter five days to reach him and he came immediately. I was sitting in the study and I looked up when he entered. He bowed and I inclined my head.
“Where is your father?” he asked good naturedly.
“He is in Panyu fighting the uppyr.” I said.
“Your letter sounded rather grim; what is going on?” he asked.
“Well I am Regent right now. I was in a village settling a dispute when I was attacked.” I said.
“Okay by whom or what?” he asked confused.
“An inu youth. Your son to be exact.” I stated.
“How do you know he was my son?” he asked raising a brow.
“Besides the fact that he looks a lot like you and bears your marks?” I asked.
“Did you kill him?” he asked me.
“Why would I kill an innocent boy?” I asked him stunned.
“He is a threat to me.” He stated.
“Katashi he is a boy!” I snapped.
“I care not.” He said in a fury.
It occurred to me that Katashi would continue to deny his son. Tekeshi was going to be furious when he found out.
“Could you not at least meet him?” I asked.
“No.” he said simply.
“Katashi you are a fool. He is a boy that has been used ill.” I said standing.
“I suggest killing him; It is what I would do.” He said turning and leaving.
My mouth dropped open and it occurred to me that Ang Chi had become my problem. I had killed his mother. I went to the chambers he was in and entered through the barrier. He growled as if feral. I lifted his chin and stared into his hate filled eyes.
“I killed your mother and I am sorry for that. I wish that you could forgive me and understand that I was protecting myself and a family member.” I stated quietly.
“You are a heartless bitch.” He snapped.
“Ang Chi your father has denied you again. I am therefore in a sticky situation. You are still a youth and need caring for. Since your sire is a dishonorable bastard your care falls to me.” I said bluntly.
“Go to hell bitch!” he snapped at me.
“You will be formally adopted by me. I suggest that you get used to this house. I pray you come around. You will want for nothing.” I stated flatly.
“Why are you doing this?” he said furiously.
“Because you are of noble birth and you have been denied your birthright. Things will come to light and you will understand. I never intended for you to suffer because of your father's inactions and my ignorance.” I said turning away.
“Why did you have to kill her?” Ang Chi asked.
“She had impaled me and used her glass shard attack. She had also infused my person with her miasma and killed my first pup. I expect you to hate me and I understand but know that it was done entirely for self defense.” I said lifting his chin again.
Pain filled his eyes and I knew that Jing must have loved her son. She had fought for his rights and I was filled with regret. I kneeled down and pulled him into a hug and he stiffened. A moment later he sobbed against me. He was still so young and I hated Katashi at the moment.
“Come you must eat.” I commanded.
He nodded and I stood. He slowly stood up and I motioned for him to follow me. I lowered the barrier and went through the door. We entered the Great Hall and I motioned for him to sit. I followed suit. I motioned for a servant to bring a cup of tea. Ang Chi took it and drank it.
“Please bring us some of whatever is ready.” I asked the serving maid.
“Hai my Lady.” She bowed.
“I do not understand your actions.” He muttered.
“I took from you unknowingly Ang Chi. I will not do so again.” I replied softly.
“Thank you.” He said quietly.
“I expect nothing from you but your loyalty.” I stated.
“I cannot think right now. I have spent the last two years hating you.” He said.
“I understand. I will write my father this day and he will decree my adoption of you.” I said standing.
“You may wander the grounds but you are not to leave the palace compound. You will guarded until I am sure of your loyalty.” I stated.
“What do I call you?” he asked looking up at me.
“Asuna.” I replied.
“Hai.” He said.
I bowed and I left the hall. I went to the study and wrote to my father. I was going to send it by way of my brother Youshiro. I sat back and knew my brother Osamu would be back soon. He had taken up traveling with Airi and I had never seen him so content. I picked up the letter and went in search of my youngest brother. I saw Jaken and summoned him to me.
“Take this to Youshiro and ask him to take it to my father. I also want you to make sure that the young inu Ang Chi is guarded.” I commanded.
“Hai milady!” the kappa replied bowing.
He scurried off and I leaned against a wall and sighed. I hoped that Tekeshi would come to me soon.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
My father had been shocked at my news but agreed with my decision to adopt Ang Chi. The young inu would wander the palace and I could tell he was not used to the finery. My mother was in Panyu aiding my father and I had the care of my two youngest siblings and my newest pup. I was beyond furious with Katashi. His son was actually a sweet boy. I watched him as he would read or move about. He was restless and I felt for him. He was sitting under a tree in the garden and I went and sat down by him. He looked up surprised and I smiled. He gave me a tentative smile in return.
“You were passable with a blade; I have a wish to train you.” I said.
“Why? Do you not think I will betray you?” he asked.
“Will you?” I asked him.
“No.” he answered.
“Then come.” I said standing.
“Hai.” He said standing.
I moved to go to the dojo and I looked up. I felt a familiar aura and I grew excited. I grabbed Ang Chi'a hand and brought him with me to the palace courtyard. Tekeshi looked over at me and smiled. I grinned at him and pulled the young inu along.
“Hello aijou.” He said.
“Hello.” I smiled at him.
I had been masking Ang Chi's scent and I bowed. I prompted Ang Chi and he bowed too. Tekeshi looked at him and moved closer.
“Who is this?” he asked softly.
“Scent him.” I answered.
I lifted the mask and Tekeshi's eyes widened a fraction. He looked at me and I nodded. Ang Chi looked confused and I could sense he was bewildered by his senses. Tekeshi moved forward and pulled the young inu into a hug.
“I have been searching for you.” He cried.
“You cannot be. I was told you were dead.” Ang Chi cried.
“No I am not dead. The Lady Asuna is my mate.” He said looking down at his grandpup.
I had not known that he had been searching for him. It did not surprise me knowing his character. Ang Chi looked at me and understood my earlier words. His obsidian eyes were full of something and I felt relief for him.
“You are loved my boy.” Tekeshi said.
“I do not understand.” He cried to his grandsire.
“I gave up my title to be with the onna I loved.” He replied softly.
“Come let us have a meal.” I said.
Ang Chi was overwhelmed and Tekeshi was beaming with happiness. I knew Katashi was going to have a day of reckoning with his father and it would be bad. We ate together and Ang Chi had fallen asleep in the study listening to Tekeshi talk. I sat back and watched them. I had made the right decision. The boy needed love and he had found it.
“I have formally adopted him. It is the least I can do considering I took his mother's life.” I said quietly.
“You did nothing wrong Asuna. My son has much to answer for.” He said in an angry tone.
“You have been searching for him?” I asked.
“Hai. He has been elusive.” He said looking down at his grandpup.
“I hope his life will be better now.” I said softly.
“It will be.” Tekeshi said coming closer and putting a hand on my belly.
“How is our pup?” he asked.
“Starting to move.” I said with a smile.
“I have missed you aijou.” He said claiming my lips.
I kissed him back passionately and I had to push back my ardor. I smiled at him and then embraced my mate.
“How is my friend Naraku?” he asked.
“He has all my pups with him. Panyu has been attacked and my father is aiding Jin.” I said.
Tekeshi made a face at the mention of Sheng's brother and I raised a brow. I shook my head and stood. Tekeshi stood and went and gently shook Ang Chi awake. He lifted his head and looked around. The former Manchu lord helped him up.
“Come let us install you on your futon my son.” He said.
Ang Chi nodded and I followed them as they left the study. Things were heating up and very quickly. I felt as though I was in a maelstrom.
