InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ I hide myself behind the moon ❯ Hunger vs. suspicion ( Chapter 6 )
Someone was persistently shaking her by the shoulder.
- Kagome… Kagome, time to get up…
- Not funny, Mom, - she muttered in sleep. - I know that today's Sunday… no school… me and Sango… going to the mall… what's for breakfast? … by the way, tell Souta he's a brat…
- Kagome, dearest, - said a sweet voice. - I have bad news for you… the mall was destroyed.
- WHAT?!?! - she jumped out of bad. - Not the mall! Anything but the mall!!!
Sango laughed at her friend, who was running around the room, screaming like a wounded lynx. Well, that was certainly entertaining.
At last Kagome stopped and looked at Sango in surprise.
- Hey, what are you doing in my room? Did you hear what they did to the mall? Is that true?!?!
- Sure thing, honey, - smiled Sango. - No shopping today.
- No shopping? Wait a minute… this is not my room!!!
Kagome looked around and let out a disappointed groan. The room was not very big, but with a high ceiling. There were no windows, and the only furniture was two beds, one chair and a bookcase.
- Oh no… I thought it was all just a… bad dream.
- Collective nightmares? Nope. Welcome to reality and good morning.
Kagome set on he bad.
- Sango… we have to get out of here.
- Oh yeah? Have you made up a "treacherous sly plan that's gonna work 100%" already?
- Why are you so… mean?
Sango sighed.
- I'm sorry Kag… it's just that I feel guilty.
- But…
- This whole thing is my fault! If it wasn't for me and my damn stupid plans of revenge, you would wake up in your home and with your family and… everything would be alright!!! I'm really sorry I got you into this Kagome!!! - Sango shouted out the last phrase and closed her face with hands.
Kagome set next to her friend and gave her a hug.
- I never ever ever had a slightest thought that you're were guilty of anything… Sango… Uh, I don't know what else to say…You shouldn't be sorry.
- Kagome… thanks…
Then they heard a knock on the door, the lock clanked and Miroku came into the room.
- Awww… well isn't that sweet… - he cooed. - Supporting each other through the hard times, I see? Or planning an escape?
The girls said nothing.
- By the way, good morning, - said Miroku. - Anyone for breakfast?
Kagome's stomach sent her a loud signal and the girl blushed.
The monk smiled.
- I take that as a yes.
- I want a shower! - demanded Sango.
- O-o-ooh, I don't receive these kind of offers every day… Let me think about it… Yes!
- Forget. It. Sick. Monk, - Sango muttered through clenched teeth, already starting to miss her boomerang very much.
- I'm Miroku, in case you don't remember, - he said with an innocent grin. - And you?
- And I'm maniac. I adore senseless victims and severe sectarian rituals. So be aware.
Kagome giggled.
- Her name is Sango. She's a big softy and sleeps with a teddy bear. So be aware.
- I'm not a softy!!!
- But you sleep with a teddy bear, don't you? - queried Miroku. - That is sooo… cute.
Sango started growling.
- Breakfast, - reminded her Kagome. - First we eat, restore our calories, then we kill.
- I'm terrified, - admitted Miroku. - C'mon, I've found ya a vacant dinning room.
They went out of the room into a long corridor, downstairs and found themselves in an enormous light hall. In the centre of it there was a long table with enough place to quarter an army. But it was only arranged for four persons. And one of them was already sitting over there with a glass of wine…
Sango and Kagome hesitated for a moment, but then took the free seats. Before them stood big plates covered with snow-white napkins and filled up to edges glasses of red wine.
Miroku has taken a seat opposite tem and pulled the napkins off the plates. Under them were silver dishes with cruassan. Miroku took one, pinched off a small piece and slowly begun to chew, thoughtfully examining the mosaic on the opposite wall. It seemed that the suspicious looks which the girls addressed to the cruassan didn't worry him much.
- They look too good to be poisoned, - said Sango with hope.
- Yep. And it would be a terrible sin to let them get cold, - added Kagome.
They have cautiously tried the cruassan and narrowed eyes from pleasure: the sweet soft dough was simply melting on the tongue.
In a moment the plates before them were empty, but the plate of the Inuyasha looked as if he didn't even touch it.
Having noticed their surprised looks, he stood up, holding a glass of wine in hid hand. It was dark red and threw rays of ruby light on the walls. Kagome took a sip from her glass and admitted to herself that she had never tried anything that tasted so good.
- It was… good? - asked Inuyasha with indifference.
- Um… yeah, not bad.
He muttered something, but the girl didn't dare to ask what that was. She turned to Sango.
- What now? - she whispered.
- And now we thank for the meal and leave!
They stood up.
- So-o-o-o, thanks a lot for the wonderful breakfast!
- We have to go now. Bye!
- Where? - hemmed Inuyasha, looking at them.
- To the exit, - answered Sango, feeling rather uncomfortable under that cold look.
- And do you know where the exit is?
- No! - Kagome was getting a really unpleasant feeling about this. - But maybe you'll show it to us so we can leave this hospitable place!
- Oh, - he put the glass aside and smirked. - I think not.
