InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ I Was Once Yours ❯ Permonitions ( Chapter 1 )
Chapter One: Premonitions
How many times had Kagome had that dream? Three, four times this week? It was frustrating to say the least. She looked over to her right, eyes falling upon a mass of black hair and tan skin. He was drooling again. Not to mention snoring. He lay on his back, arms sprawled out, mouth open, and drooling. He was human now, why the drool? Out of all the obnoxious sleeping habits he had, Kagome hated that one the most. She sighed then leaned over to kiss his cheek. She stopped inches away from his face. He smelt of perfume. Not hers. Who’s then? She sat back up, slipped out of bed and crept into the bathroom. Digging through the clothes hamper brought her nothing but a practically clean shirt and pants.
She sat down against the tub trying to think of excuses of why her husband smelled of someone else’s perfume. Plenty of reasons. Of course, it had to be. He was loyal, wasn’t he? Yes of course he was. No, wait. What about Kikyo? He use to always go and see her. But that was before he and Kagome were married. There had to be a reason. A co-worker bumped into him, yes that had to be it. Or maybe he was in a room with a woman who reeked of perfume and it just clung to him...but why were his clothes so clean? They didn’t smell of perfume. Was this why see was having these dreams? Premonitions? She’d at no time had them before. It couldn’t be Kikyo, they left her for dead on the battle field. The battle, eight years ago. They had finally got rid of Naraku. Everyone lived, well excluding Kikyo. No one could decide who was coming or staying, so everyone came back with Kagome.
She had finished school and college. She was a successful PR consultant. Inuyasha adapted quickly, he worked in a law firm. Who knew his arguing skills would come in handy. Sango couldn’t leave her profession. Yes she exterminated. Not demons, no, there’s none of those here. She became head of a pest control company. Miroku had stayed with his chosen profession also. Groping Sango got him somewhere believe it or not. He is now a stay at home dad and a priest on church days. Shippo grew up and is still attending college. What he’s majoring in? Who knows that boy changes his mind more than a three year old.
Yes, everything worked out. Perfectly. Why a snag now? Kagome rested her head on her knee, took a few deep breathes and went back to bed.
She tossed and turned for a good part of the morning, trying to fall back asleep. No cake. She couldn’t sleep. After four hours of restlessness she gave up and went to their living room to watch T.V.
The darned black box in front of her wouldn’t relieve her mind from it’s wondering. She had a strict schedule now in her older age of 27. She should be getting up at seven am not five. She went to bed at nine every night, went to work at eight thirty every morning got home at six every evening. Her hours were quite screwed up and she wasn’t sure when Inuyasha got home, she assumed before midnight.
As the lulling pictures of the T.V. droned on Kagome fell back asleep. Back to her dream.
Kagome’s eyes flew open as she heard a door shut, she looked around bleary eyed. She blinked a few times to focus. Her eyes landed on a note attached to the phone on the couch table behind her. She peeled it off the receiver, upon further inspection, she had learned that her husband was going to wok early. How convenient for him. She was going on a business trip today. She then realized that it was 11:18, not only was she late, she had missed her plane. She ran her hand through her hair. She was definitely going to need a shrink after last nights incoherent thoughts. She walked to the bathroom, grabbing a towel and washrag on the way.
The water hit her skin like that of a masseuse’s hand. How divine this new shower head was. All the new settings, all the women Inuyasha could have had in here...Kagome jerked away from the waters reach. She was now sick from thinking what she just did. What a random, stupid thing to think of! Her husband has only had her in there. No one else. She reasoned with herself, but nothing could help the bile racing up from her stomach. Jumping out of the shower she flung open the toilet seat and began to fill it.
After cleaning the bathroom to rid it of the smell she downed herself with her favorite robe and walked into the kitchen for a snack. In the middle of squeezing the last bit of icing onto her toaster strudel the phone began to ring. Unable to reach in time due to picking up the scorching pastry and dropping it, icing down, on the kitchen floor. No worries, as she was scraping it off the floor with a spatula, the answering machine picked up.
“Hey, Inuyasha...I know you said not to call your house, but I couldn’t wait. I have to see you, tonight, your wife is going to be gone remember?”
The sultry voice on the phone paralyzed Kagome. She just realized that her husband was cheating on her...How could he? She felt like a child after getting a favorite toy taken away by a bully. Only this was different. This was her husband. Someone who vowed to be true to her just as she is to him. Walking over to the answering machine she hit the delete button. Picking up the receiver she phoned Sango, asking her to come over.
“Kagome? Sango asked as she looked into the crack of the now unlocked door. As she opened the door and walked in, careful of her swollen belly, she found Kagome sitting at her diningroom table. “Kagome, what’s wrong? Wasn’t’ your trip today? Oh god you weren’t fired were you? Oh god you were!” She chattered out as she hugged her friend.
Kagome just sat there, she really wasn’t aware of Sango until she felt her huge, tight stomach press against her shoulder. Then she jump as she felt her stomach kick her.
“Oh, Sango.” She began “He’s cheating on me.”
“What?”
“Cheating, on me.” She choked out as she felt the bile rise up again. She got up careful of Sango, and raced to the bathroom, with Sango waddling right behind.
Wiping her face off with trembling hands, she began to cry. Sango was there to cradle her.
“How do you know?”
“Last night I smelled perfume on him and today he left early and and.....” She burst out as more tears came.
“But sweety....”
“No, No she called! She left a message on my machine! I had to delete it!” She wailed.
“Oh my lord.”
“The worst part is, that tonight, their going to be here. She said she wanted to be with him tonight because I’m suppose to be...” Kagome said, but as she finished, a pure thought of evil raced through her mind.
“Kagome?”
“I’m going to catch that bastard in the act. Tonight.” She said, looking ahead at nothing in particular, her mind racing putting together a plan.
