InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ I won't leave ❯ Never ( Chapter 1 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

This was supposed to just be an original, but then I thought 'hey, who am I to deprive my favorite Inu-Yasha readers and writers by ignoring them, hm?' So here's a nice little one shot. Oh, and don't hold your breath on 'Sliver Rebel' cuz I totally lost that train of thought. Also, it was becoming very cliché for me to keep going. Sorry to all of those who really did like it.

Summary: Kagome went to public school and you'll figure out that they really don't like her there. Oh, and Inu-Yasha is like ten years older than her (makes the other students have a better reason for making fun of her). You have to read to figure out where he went… Use your brain!

Kagome walked silently though the hallways with her head hung low. Her now brown hair framed her face as it curled gently against her cheek. The students that she passed by heckled and jeered at her as a quiet tear made its course down her face.

She still wore the jacket he gave her in an unvoiced proclamation that he would return. The leather was warm and soft under her fingers, comforting her with the lingering masculine scent. A salty drop splashed off a sleeve covered hand.

"You whore! You reject! Let it go you loser! He's dead and never coming back!" They had called to her. But she knew different. She was a virgin, she was loved, and she would never give up hope. One day, he would return.

She heaved open the thick outer doors. The cold air rushed through her like cold water. The heavy rain pattered on the roof and streams of it poured off the side. The sound of brakes being released on a bus and the roar of a diesel engine filled her ears.

Determined not to let another soul see her despair, Kagome wiped her eyes and stood straight, lifting her head.

Then the world stopped. Everything ceased to exist. She couldn't feel the ground anymore, she couldn't get a breath into her lungs, and the only sound that resonated in her ears was her heart pounding. She dared not blink, lest it disappear.

A lone, green-clad figure cloaked in shadow, stood at the end of the aisle. Something glittered on his broad chest and a bundle was thrown over his shoulder. It stood just as still as the girl that was at the opposite end. They had a tall and strong stature and almost defensive stance.

Hesitantly it took a small step forward into the light that shone down from the skylight above. "Kagome." He whispered.

That's when the universe came rushing back to her. She didn't hear him, she couldn't have, but she saw his lips move and knew he was there. She dropped her bag and stretched her legs out in a full sprint.

He dropped his pack and opened his arms out wide. Kagome took a running step before leaping into his awaiting embrace. The man stumbled out into the rain but the girl pressed against his chest could care less. She broke into sobs and fervently placed kisses on his neck and face.

"I love you. I love you." She whispered brokenly between each whimper and show of tender affection.

"Don't cry. I love you, and I came back like I promised." He said into her ear. "Please don't cry."

People were pointing and staring now. No one was sure of what to think of the drenched couple. The only thing that could come into mind was that they were sick. What could some one so much older want with a young girl like that?

Not that they cared, the couple kissing in the rain knew nothing except of each other. The man slowly lowered her to the ground but never broke the contact of their hold.

"Please don't leave me again Inu-Yasha." She whispered when they separated for air.

"Never."
