Chapter 1 - Shitenshi

 

Shitenshi walked into the kitchen and placed her backpack on one chair before hopping up onto the counter. Grandma Ri was making cookies and the smell of baking filled the room with warmth and memories.

 

“You can have some in just a minute, Shi.”

 

“Thanks. I have some forms from school for you to fill out. We're going to the museum tomorrow.”

 

“Ok, I'll sign them when I finish. Why don't you get out the plates and milk?” Shitenshi did as instructed and sat at the table, pulling out her binder.

 

She slid the papers across the table and flipped through the museum pamphlet. One name caught her eye. “Grandma Ri, who is Inutaisho Sesshoumaru? That name sounds very familiar.”

 

“Lord Sesshoumaru is the tai-youkai of our part of Japan.”

 

“It says here he is the museum's curator.”

 

“Yes, he's had a few centuries to amass a collection of ancient artifacts.”

 

“Did you ever meet him?”

 

“No, but I did meet his brother, once, when I was quite young.”

 

“He has a brother?” Shitenshi flipped through the pamphlet again, searching for the second Inutaisho.

 

“Inuyasha.” Grandma Ri's voice was soft and she stared out the window without seeming to see Tokyo spread out below.

Inuyasha and his friends were fighting the legion of bat warriors when the villagers ran up. “Hey you guys, please! Do something about them! We will all be killed!”

 

“You don't have to ask, I'm going to cut him up anyways, but that's after I get Shiori back.” Inuyasha spat out.

 

The villagers stopped in shock. “What? That's not good.” “Besides, Shiori is on the Hyaki Coumori's side!”

 

Inuyasha glared at them, golden eyes blazing. “You want me to kill her, too?”

 

The villagers shrank from his gaze. “We have no other choice.” “Because Shiori is the child of a demon, so…”

 

Inuyasha stepped away from them and looked directly at the bat hanyou. “You heard that, Shiori?”

 

“Grandma Ri, did you hear me?” Shiori was abruptly shaken out of her memories by her granddaughter's words. “I asked if you thought I might be able to meet Lord Sesshoumaru at the museum tomorrow.”

 

“You might, dear, if he is at the museum tomorrow he might talk to your class.”

 

“Cool!” Shitenshi grabbed her backpack and bestowed a kiss on Shiori's cheek before running up the stairs to her room.

So yeah, I finally got all the plot bunnies straitened out and in their rightful cages. My muses are firmly grounded in their rooms and sedated with chocolate. And my beta will soon return. Thus begins the Shiori mini-epic!!! Muahahahahaha!!!!!!!

All the lines in the flashbacks are from the fansub. I did some modifications with English grammar and all, and the thoughts are all mine, but the lines are true to the anime.
