#5: Modern

His thick silver hair fell to just under his shoulders, one of many concessions to humanity. Like the brown contact lenses he wore. Mud brown, with black flecking around the center to disguise the slitted pupils. He only had a few hours left before they succumbed to his poison and disintegrated, but he carried a spare package in his pocket. He had left his comfortable sashinuki* at home, of course. Even appearing as he did like some modern-day punk kid, facial markings perhaps indicating yakuza ties, the ancient garment would draw unnecessary attention.

Without acknowledging that he was looking for a fight, he walked the streets of Higashi-ward, not bothering to look at the skyscrapers, shopping malls, and other modern buildings that were now more numerous than the trees of the past, crowding the city with death. He kept his gaze steadily ahead and did not stop for traffic lights.

* sashinuki - a type of hakama common in the Warring States Era with the difference of having ties on the ankles to keep the pants in place. Perhaps synonymous with karusan-bakama, but please absolutely drop me a message if I'm wrong. Source:
